Digital technologies play an important role in the development of visually-impaired children, who require early intervention to help sustain and improve their visual capacity throughout childhood, and also to stimulate their other senses so as to prevent any global development deficit. To this end, therapists, parents and teachers must be able to choose from a wide range of suitable, up-to-date resources that have been field tested and are well organized so that they can be located easily and rapidly as required. To respond to these needs, the authors have been involved in a research project, which has defined the key features of apps that make them suitable for use by and with visually-impaired children. Subsequently, the project developed an online environment that combines structured information from experts with the practical know-how of the user community in a joint effort to support the choice of the most suitable resources to use in different contexts and with different users.

The irruption of COVID-19 has led to a multitude of deep-seated transformations, which go beyond the purely sanitary sphere, leading to major socio-economic changes, among which the evolution of traditional forms of administrative intervention or the empowerment and/or acceleration of the advances derived from the digital (re)volution stand out for their extraordinary importance. Thereby, in recent months we have witnessed the implementation of numerous initiatives aimed to alleviate the harmful effects of the pandemic by developing technological tools based on processing categories of specially protected personal data, such as health data, which raises important questions from the perspective of privacy and digital rights. The aim of this study is to carry out a detailed analysis of some essential elements, necessary to achieve the difficult balance between the promotion of technological instruments that contribute to control the effects of COVID-19 increasing the resources available to health authorities, and safeguarding the fundamental right of personal data protection.

In today’s increasingly digital society, there has been a growing offer of digital applications (Apps) for the most diverse areas. With regard to older people, Apps have emerged that aim to improve their quality of life by providing conditions for a better aging process. In this regard, the aging process promotes increasing cognitive and motor limitations among the elderly, as a consequence of a global degeneration of aging. However, it has been the dementias that have caused the most concern given their increase in the elderly. In this sense, it is intended to present the results of a qualitative research in an exploratory study with 11 institutionalized elderly, with mild cognitive decline and moderate dementia, in an institution of the municipality of Castelo Branco, which used the“MemoryLife” Appsand “Attention games”aimed at promoting cognitive stimuli in order to minimize their limitations as a result of their Alzheimer’s-related losses. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted with experts in technology, gerontology and dementia. The results of the ten practical sessions, held three times a week, showed that there was an improvement due to the direct and participative involvement of the elderly. These results were possible because the elderly had an active participation in the selection of the Apps used which enabled an easier and more systematic collaboration. On the other hand, it also refers to the importance of the institution in providing a collaborative environment that allowed to bring together synergies. Moreover, after content analysis, unanimity can be found in using digital resources that can have a positive action with elderly people with dementia. In sum, Apps had a positive action denoting a decrease in the dementia states of the elderly participants in the study, so it is advisable to use them more systematically to promote greater cognitive stimulation.

Reading is still an open issue for the Italian educational system (and not only for the Italian one). The reasons are concerning both its learning processes and the educational emergency phenomenon of non-readers. The increasing diffusion of ICT is acting as an engine to face this issue both in school and in other educational agencies. In fact, ICT are activating evidence-based procedures and strategies which are effective and easy to be used. In particular, the recent development of mobile has opened the way for using Application (App) for teaching, with awesome results. In the present paper, the authors propose a literature review that aims to highlight two important aspects. Firstly, the clarification of the problem and secondly, the individuation of the most advantageous Apps in order to promote the literacy even from an inclusive perspective.

- Abstract
Questa breve rassegna è dedicata all'iPhone e all'iPad, quest'ultimo in commercio in Italia da pochi mesi. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

International audience; This analysis aims to describe the main features of hypermedia literary apps for children by considering a corpus of adaptations of classic and contemporary picturebooks. In particular, it highlights the multimodal nature that defines hypermedia texts and their meanings, as well as the interactivity that programs different degrees of readers' involvement and the various ways of using and exploring the virtual space of touchscreens. By describing some hypermedia features deployed in a selection of classic texts, I focus on the hypermedia adaptations of three contemporary Italian picturebooks: Iole, la balena mangiaparole by Gioia Marchegiani, Amico ragnolo by Gloria Francella, and Love, the App by Alberto Vanni. These were chosen to illustrate the significant literary use of several textual materials, the implementation of different types of interactivity, and the recreation of the material characteristics of the print edition through the virtual page. Founded on the appropriation and re-interpretation of the source, the adaptations considered here show a mix of literary intents and digital technologies, while highlighting the substantial homogeneity of the hypermedia strategies used in adapting classic and contemporary texts.

The new technologies, the network in all its various forms (internet, social networks and apps) together with mobile devices can offer a significant contribution to tourism, in particular as regards the mobility step and the orientation ability for travellers. Therefore, smart maps can play a role of primary importance in the management of touristic flows in urban environment. The practice of digitalization processes applied to cartography is indeed blended with the strengthening and the acquisition of good levels of smartness, also useful for reinforcing the quality of urban tourism, able to attract new users targets and at the same time to manage more effectively those already acquired. The use of sensing location and augmented reality in support of tourism and the enhancement of urban resources certainly proceeds in this direction.
