This is the last in a series of three articles on Quebec psychoeducation. While the first article introduced the historical and theoretical foundations of psychoeducation as a university discipline in Quebec, the second presented the Psychoeducative Intervention Method. This final article broaches the concept of psycho-social adaptation, with reference to the subject’s adaptive process as a result of having learned skills within the context of a shared psychoeducational experience. This third article also further examines the Utilizing of experiences for therapeutic purposes, a fundamental professional process in the field of psychoeducation. The aim herein is to consolidate the many concepts presented in the previous articles and facilitate the reader’s understanding of how they all come together and are activated by the psychoeducator in a treatment context by means of a highly-specialized therapeutic activity.

This article is the first of three written on the topic of Quebec psychoeducation. The object of this article is to explain the historical and theoretical foundations of psychoeducation as a academic discipline in Quebec. Developments within the field will be highlighted to illustrate how it has evolved up to the present day. Psychoeducation originated within live-in rehabilitation centres for troubled youth and was then integrated within the contexts of schools, community centres, psychiatric hospitals and physical rehabilitation centres. Psychoeducators in Quebec are making their mark in providing support and assistance to all age groups, from children to seniors, helping people with adjustment difficulties who struggle to integrate. Today, Quebec psychoeducation can cross borders and cultures, to broaden the perspectives of other specialized higher-education programs at the university level. Sharing the Quebec model, its theoretical expertise and its history of clinical practice will enable others to benefit in improving the social integration and psychosocial adaptation of those in need.

This article is the second of three written on the topic of Quebec psychoeducation. The first article introduces the historical and theoretical foundations of psychoeducation, while the purpose of this second article is to present the models and methodology behind psychoeducational practice. Psychoeducative care and treatment as a specialized form of intervention which, in order to help a person struggling with social adjustment disorders. To reach such goals, the psychoeducator adopts the principles of the Psychoeducational Intervention Method to create a re-education program. The Psychoeducational Intervention Method is comprised of eight Professional Processes adopted by all psychoeducators and used in conjunction with the Structural Psychoeducative Model. The eight processes and model shall later be described in detail and illustrated by means of a concrete example that shows how psychoeducative intervention is programmed.
