Abstract

Alla fine del XVIII secolo, l’Ingegnere Antonio Winspeare descriveva con stupore i villaggi trogloditi di Ponza, visitati in occasione delle sue molte ricognizioni dell’isola. Già riconoscibili nelle prime rappresentazioni cartografiche dell’arcipelago pontino, le case-grotta costituiranno la testimonianza più tangibile, ma anche più cruda, dell’arretratezza sociale ed economica alla quale buona parte della popolazione locale era costretta a dispetto dei programmi promossi dal governo borbonico. Proprio in questo senso la narrazione dell’architettura rupestre isolana (dalle fredde considerazioni di Lorenzo Giustiniani, Conrad Haller e Giuseppe Tricoli al reportage giornalistico di Pasquale Mattej, sino alle personalissime osservazioni di Norman Douglas e di Mino Maccari agli inizi del Novecento) diviene uno degli elementi imprescindibili nella costruzione del mito di Ponza quale luogo dell’arcaicità e dell’innocenza, un microcosmo non solo geografico sospeso nel tempo e nello spazio a dispetto delle poche miglia di distanza dalla terraferma.

Abstract

The morphology of Hunter's canal was examined, together with behaviour of the sheath of the femoral vessels and the relations between this sheath and the walles of the canal. A search was made for morphological and anatomotopographical features capable of explaining early and intense degenerative arteriopathy and the reasons why this is a level of choice for segmentary forms. The extent, constitution and behaviour of the adductor canal are explained. It is shown that, under normal conditions, the sheath is independent of the canal walls. Mechanical influences on the corresponding segment of the artery may be attributable to early inflammation or sclerosis of the cell milieu of the adductor canal.

Abstract

Soluble and insoluble glycoproteins from adult bovine cerebellum have been separated by affinity chromatography on ConA-Sepharose and analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis I2% in presence of SDS. Soluble fraction represents 26% of total proteins. Within soluble and insoluble fractions 4.5% of proteins binds to ConA. Electropherograms of the soluble and insoluble fractions as well as of the proteins not absorbed on ConA-Sepharose, display a very complex pattern. Soluble fractions present many sharp bands in the region of molecular weight above 100 k. Heterogeneity is lesser in ConA-binding proteins. The contamination by Concanavalin A is considered. At present no definite conclusions can be drawn regarding the similarities existing between s.c. soluble and membrane-bound cerebral glycoproteins.
