This essay aims to explore the role of reflective thinking and ethical awareness in countering the culture of discrimination, starting from preschools. The interpretation of data collected during the doctoral research Reflecting Together: a Socio-Ethical Education Curriculum Starting From Preschools, derived from scientific literature and intensive interviews (Bianchi, 2019; Charmaz, 2014) has highlighted categories such as reflective thinking and ethical awareness. One significant aspect concerns their role in addressing stereotypes and discriminations. After a brief presentation of the research design, the essay aims to explore a preliminary result: the role of reflective thinking and ethical awareness within the educational framework as tools for individual emancipation (Freire, 1970; Biesta, 2015), and the prevention of racist behaviours. The contribution will conclude by advancing the proposal of the community of thought construct (Michelini, 2016) as a decisive element for the development of preschools where the recursive and prevailing appreciation of differences and dialogue will interrupt discriminatory attitudes. This will be achieved also by analyzing them from a values perspective and understanding them thoroughly.

Il presente saggio intende rileggere, da un lato, il tema della ricerca in ambito interculturale e dall’altro le pratiche di accoglienza, in particolare dedicate ai minori stranieri non accompagnati (MSNA). secondo la prospettiva dell’etica della cura (Gilligan, 1982; Noddings, 2002) e attraverso le lenti interpretative del dispositivo della cura di sé (Foucault, 1984). Uno degli obiettivi principali è quello di porre all’attenzione come tali chiavi di lettura possano rappresentare una prospettiva, anche metodologica, per chi si approccia a questioni interculturali, proponendo come opzione coerente la Constructivist Grounded Theory (CGT). Si intende inoltre sollecitare una riflessione sulle modalità di ricerca e di accoglienza dei MSNA alla luce di tali considerazioni, investigando il posizionamento del ricercatore e dell’educatore, a fronte dei paradigmi di riferimento proposti.

The Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) is a fundamental process when high safety standards for the tested component are required. The evaluation may imply a combination of methods to achieve the highest Probability of Detection (POD) resulting in several data available which must be properly collected, processed, and stored for future reviews and for traceability reasons. All these requirements imply a sophisticated digital infrastructure and the usage of the most advanced Information Technology (IT) solutions to achieve computation speed, safe data processing and accessibility of the information. The Industry4.0 revolution is the result of the combination of digital technology to industrial processes for rethinking the performances in terms of automation, integration, crosslinking, availability and sharing of information. These principles can be applied in the NDE process as several products on the market are tested and monitored during the whole lifetime. The tracking of data, the secure data validation, and the need to avoid misuses and manipulations are new additional requirements for the NDE 4.0. Block chain technology, mainly known for crypto applications, is a promising technology for storing digital identity and test records offering traceability, safety and availability of the data. The present paper wants to present the Swiss Safety Center AG approach for a specific application case (retesting of gas cylinders according to ISO18119) where the guidelines and trends of NDE 4.0 have been successfully integrated in a fully automatic system, first in class for this application. The paper wants also to provides some insights about future trends and potential developments which may not be limited to this specific case but can be applied for other similar applications, e.g. in railways, manufacturing industry, automotive, aerospace and more in general in the NDE applications.

To ensure the satisfactory performance of a welded structure, the quality of the welds must be determined by adequate testing procedures. During Visual Testing (VT), the weld is examined through the eyes of an inspector to determine surface discontinuities. Although this is commonly considered the easiest, quickest, and least expensive type of inspection, it has some limitations: a certified inspector shall always be on site to perform the test, making it strongly dependant on his experience, knowledge and current environmental conditions. In addition, there is no possibility to record inspection data except standard pictures and comments to be added to inspection reports. Modern technology brings novel solutions for quality assurance. This article describes a powerful tool which can improve the reliability of VT that combines precise laser measurements, image processing and data cloud computing. A portable magnetic crawler has been developed using a Raspberry Pi SBC, a smart profile sensor and a 5 MPix industrial colour camera in order to gather both weld 3D point cloud and surface pictures. Laser triangulation and processing power directly integrated on board allow an easy weld profile measurement. Undercuts, reinforcement excess, spatters, hi-low are precisely detected and sized by the laser sensor while integrated 2D camera records and analyses surface features such contaminations, corrosion, and weld discoloration. The point cloud weld reconstruction is realized stitching together 2D profile data at a fixed interval that can range up to a hundredth of a millimetre with a spatial resolution up to 50um. Inspected weld is fully digitalized in the form of 3D object together with a set of numerical features, data are securely stored in a local flash memory and automatically synchronized with cloud platform for remote data visualization. Automatic weld assessment can also be applied using cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms together with deep learning tools. The combination of images, 3D models, measurements, and other evaluable features all together in the same digital platform definitely enriches the weld assessment making it quicker and reliable with the support of AI, it gives the possibility of remote visual inspection, it ensures a flawless workflow where visual inspection data are stored in a dedicated platform and can be accessed at any moment by stakeholders.

Polyphosphates (PPs) constitute a class of food additives widely used due to their ability to exercise different useful activities. The food safety concern about the use of PPs in food is both the possible non-declared addition and some health effects, such as bile duct stones, decrease in oligo-element absorption, and allergic reactions in susceptible people. In this study, an analytical method based on ion chromatography with conductivity detection was applied for the detection and quantification of PPs in 238 samples of animal-derived products such as meat, dairy, and fish products. A contribution to risk assessment was also included. The monitoring confirmed the absence of non-compliant results. All concentrations of PPs were indeed lower than the legal limits set in European Regulation No. 1333/2008. Moreover, no residue of PPs was detected (> limit of quantification: 0.09 g kg-1) in all samples where they were not reported on the product label. No PPs were detected in molluscs, meat-based preparations, semi-ripened, unripened, and spun paste cheese, while they are widely used in surimi, with concentrations in the range of 0.1-0.5 g kg-1. The highest concentrations were quantified in a wurstel sample (4.7±0.3 g kg-1) and a spreadable cheese sample (8.9±0.7 g kg-1). Considering that the high-exposure scenario together with a very susceptible population group (toddlers) were considered for risk exposure study, and that the highest admissible daily intake obtained was equal to 10.4%, the assessment demonstrated that the actual use of PPs in food does not pose a risk for food safety.

Don Quixote as a Hypermodern Paradigm. Comparison Between the Ingenioso Hidalgo and the Imaginary of the Early 20th Century Through Gianni Celati’s Writings. In the light of Gianni Celati’s analysis of Don Quixote, this paper searches for the similarities between the novel by Cervantes and two cultural conditions of Western society: Modernity and Postmodernity. The exam of the limits of these comparisons, then, will reveal how the model of the Quijote is best suited to describe a third world-view, namely the hypermodern one. Finally, a brief look at the latest ways to approach the virtual world will suggest a fundamental change in our visual culture, while demonstrating the usefulness of Don Quixote as a hypermodern paradigm. In fact, this rupture will be made visible by showing the differences between what happens in the pages of the novel and on our everyday displays, which will be described more akin to collections of novellas

Sulphiting agents (or sulphites) are a class of food additives identified in Europe by codes E220-E228. Their addition in crustaceans is permitted with specific legal limits for avoiding the so-called “blackspot” that is a defect that compromises the marketability of these products. High levels of ingested sulphites may cause pseudoallergenic reactions in susceptible people. Moreover, they can exercise mutagenic and citotoxic effects other that destroy some vitamins such as thiamine, folic acid, nicotinamide and pyridoxal. The residual level of sulphites in crustaceans can be considerably affected by the specific method of cooking. In this study, 5 traditional procedures of cooking – grilling, oven, frying, steaming and stewed cooking – were compared to verify their effect on the residual concentration of sulphites in shrimp samples. The analytical determination was carried out using a fully validated and accredited analytical method by ion chromatography with conductivity detection. The results demonstrated that cooking leads to the decrease of sulphites levels in the products, with the highest percentage of reduction (55.3%) obtained by steaming and the lowest using oven (13.9%). The results of this study confirm that the specific method of cooking should be taken into account during “total diet studies” and risk assessment for appraising the effective number of sulphites ingested from crustaceans consumption.

The Oedipus myth has a special meaning for the history of psychoanalysis. An analysis of the historical variation of the myth treatment within the theatre gives new insights about the possible interpreation. Comparing the various psychoanalytic interpretations of Sophocles’ tragedy also gives interesting indications on the same subject.

This paper aims to analyse how COVID-19 pandemic is changing our perception of reality. It starts looking at our situation from the point of view of Riegl’s distinction between optical and tactile, and then it compares the nature of the relationship between these two approaches to Lévi-Strauss’s description of bricolage. Our current world-view turns out to be not only an optic one, because the optical approach is just the means by which we can articulate a private and social life messed up by Coronavirus. Thereby, optical takes care of tactile without replacing it, and this article draws parallels between this aspect and language as described by Heidegger. Finally, after having argued the presence of an aura in this “optical house of tactile” in both Walter Benjamin’s and Hito Steyerl’s forms, this article tries to figure out how this perspective could last beyond the end of this emergency.

Chestnut forests were exploited from centuries for several uses and are still nowadays managed under coppice and orchard regimes. The different management practices created a typical mosaic-like structure in landscapes in which alternate different kind of habitat represented by young and mature coppices, old thinned coppices with the physiognomy of high forest, and managed or abandoned orchards. The aim of our study was to evaluate how the different kind of management could affect the hosted biodiversity. We used nocturnal Lepidoptera as indicators, sampled in different woodlots along an altitudinal gradient in the chestnut forests of the Catena Costiera Mountains, southern Italy. We analyzed a published dataset concerning 15 stands subjected to different management regimes. We found that the main variables affecting moth communities distribution were (i) the elevation at which the stands were located and (ii) the time elapsed from the last human intervention. In fact, the stands subjected to recent intervention (young coppices and managed orchards) showed low values of moth richness and abundance, on the contrary the stands subjected to old interventions (mature and old coppices and abandoned orchards) registered a high number of species and individuals, mainly due to their greater structural complexity. Despite the quantitative differences, in woodlots recently managed were collected exclusive species that increased the diversity at a landscape level. Our results underlined the importance to maintain a mosaic-like landscape taking into account also the altitude when interventions are planned in order to improve the ecological sustainability of chestnut forest exploitation.

Imagining the future has always been the task of architects, but do they still have the tools to do it? Giancarlo De Carlo had no doubts. By definition, the role of the architect is to prefigure the future, to persuade others of their reasons, to design what still does not exist, and to coordinate the various results so they can be implemented. De Carlo was certainly aware of his position within society and felt the capacity to imagine and design the future as his own (Lima, 2020).

A lo largo del presente trabajo se recupera parte de la experiencia transitada durante los años 2018 y 2019 por el Centro de Investigaciones en Seguridad, Estado y Sociedad (CISES), en el marco del Proyecto de Extensión denominado “Seguridad y Derechos Humanos”. Este último tenía como objetivos específicos: 1) analizar la información proveniente de fuentes judiciales y periodísticas referidas a diferentes casos de abusos policiales en la Provincia de Santa Fe; 2) explorar la normativa y protocolos vigentes a nivel nacional e internacional que abordan el uso racional de la fuerza policial; 3) promover instancias de encuentro e intercambio entre agentes de la Policía y representantes del Ministerio de Seguridad y de la Secretaría de Derechos Humanos de la Provincia de Santa Fe. El informe procura plasmar las experiencias y resultados obtenidos durante el año de trabajo, así como los obstáculos, debates y aprendizajes que se presentaron producto del intercambio entre el personal policial y los miembros del equipo que participaron de los talleres realizados en Recreo y en Rosario, en octubre de 2019.

The public space represents the center of gravity of the reflection and practice of the disciplines that confront the city and its evolution. Over time, the public space has translated the moods and instances of each era, identifying the main scenography: from a privileged place to relationship life, to a place of representation and cultural animation, of economic vitality and social identity. The development dynamics of the contemporary city have started processes aimed at the redefines of the image and functioning of the urban space as a collector element of relationships and architecture. The interventions, aimed at adapting the public space to the needs of a new society, are functional to the construction of an urban landscape that global competition and new trends always tend to enhance through the filter of the distinctive character and its rate of innovation. A process that, starting from the metropolitan areas, ended up investing also the medium and small cities, increasing the degree of attractiveness, identity and strengthening the sense of belonging of citizens.

In this contribution we present the Catalog of Italian spiders, produced on the base of the available scientific information regarding spider species distribution in Italy. We analysed an amount of 1124 references, resulting in a list of 1670 species and subspecies, grouped in 434 genera and 53 families. Information on spider biodiversity in Italy has increased rapidly in the last years, going from 404 species at the end of XIX century, to 1400 in the 1990s, to the current 1670. However, the knowledge on the distribution of the Italian species is far from being complete and it seems likely that there are still new species to be found or described. The Italian spider fauna is characterized by the presence of a relevant number of endemic species (342). Concerning families, Linyphiidae show the highest number of species (477) and the highest number of endemics (114). Gnaphosidae (166) and Salticidae (144) follows in terms of species richness, while Dysderidae (72) and Agelenidae (38) follows as total number of endemics. Information regarding the regional distribution revealed great unbalance between Northern and Southern Italy, with very scarce records for some regions in the South. This work is accompanied by an online version freely available online at www.araneae.it, where all information is thoroughly detailed and regularly updated by the authors. Besides spiders, we also provide, the species lists of other Arachnid orders occurring in Italy (Opiliones, Palpigradi, Pseudoscorpionida, Scorpiones, Solifugae). The great raft spider, Dolomedes plantarius, is a semi-aquatic spider species with an Eurosiberian distribution. As a result of habitat loss and degradation, in 1996 the species was classified as Vulnerable in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, but since then the status has never been updated. We present the frame of the existing knowledge on the distribution of this rare spider species in Italy, based on literature data and on original records gathered in recent years. Finally, we discuss the conservation value of the Italian populations, in light of their peripheral position within the species range and in light of the future reduction of the bioclimatic range of the species due to climate and land cover changes associated with anthropic disturbance

Concluding remarks. | (Abstract) For the first time the Court of Justice - in its Grand Chamber composition - has ruled upon the registration phase of a European Citizens' Initiative (ECI) and, consequently, on the framework of the Commission's powers in this respect. The ECI entitled "One Million Signatures for a Europe of Solidarity" - aimed at introducing in the EU economic and monetary policy the principle of the state of necessity in order to allow a State not to repay its debt - has been the object of the Anagnostakis I (General Court, judgment of 30 September 2015, case T-450/12, Alexios Anagnostakis v. Commission) and Anagnostakis II (Court of Justice, judgment of 12 September 2017, case C-589/15 P, Alexios Anagnostakis v. Commission [GC]) cases. Against this background, this Insight will be structured as follows. Firstly, it will offer an overview of both cases analysing, in turn, the objectives of the ECI at stake as well as the judgment of the General Court (Anagnostakis I). Secondly, it will delve into the opinion of AG Mengozzi and the judgment of the Court of Justice (Anagnostakis II) which upheld the decision of the General Court. Thirdly, and in conclusion, it will link the Court of Justice judgment to the current debate on ECIs' developments and the recast of Regulation 211/2011 arguing that, despite some setbacks, ECIs might now be ready to deploy their full potentials, namely, empowering citizens to influence the Commission's legislative agenda.

In their thirty-years activity, Marcido Marcidorjs e Famosa Mimosa have been challenging received and ingrained ideas of drama by developing a style capable of reflecting the enormous vacuum of our time, without fearing to be outdated, without having to stick to any agenda but the one dictated by our will to bear witness. "Hamlet" is still able to fascinate us thanks to its uncommon psychological analysis, one which is surprisingly linear, despite - or should we rather say because of? - the depth and density of the knowledge that it conveys. "Hamlet"'s magic works through its poetry, which is like a scan enabling us to sound the inmost recesses of human action. The storyline, therefore, necessarily becomes a mere pre-text of representation, which, in fact, is almost always the case with us, since we are never content with just telling a story.

Salvatore (2015) argues that psychology, in its development, has built his knowledge based on common sense. Only a theory-driven approach, in contrast to the prevailing evidence-based one, could overcome such an impasse. This paper tries to show how Salvatore’s approach, only apparently paradoxical, could be better understood through the example of psychopathology. Psychopathology is actually a discipline in which, against appearance, the influence of common sense is extremely intense.

An ECIs' overview. - III. The Efler case. - IV. Concluding remarks: an assessment and a step forward. | (Abstract) Efler (General Court, judgment of 10 May 2017, case T-754/14, Efler et al. v. Commission) is the last in a stream of cases dealing with the European Citizens' Initiative (ECI). This Insight seeks to position Efler in the current narrative of ECIs taking into account the Commission's powers - as well as the boundaries thereto - to register an ECI, in the light of the case law of the General Court. Therefore, this Insight will be structured as follows. Firstly, it will offer an overview of the current state of affairs regarding ECIs, with a particular emphasis on the case law of the General Court concerning the registration stage of an ECI. Secondly, it will tackle the peculiarity of the Efler case, to the extent that the General Court focussed on the concept of legal act to implement the Treaty. Thirdly and in conclusion, it will argue that Efler is a welcome development in the narrative of ECIs given that it could very well have a positive impact on the revision of Regulation 211/2011, making the registration procedure more citizen-friendly. However, the broad understanding of the notion of legal act offered by the General Court could even open the gates to a flow of unrealistic and unreasonable ECIs.

Rank, Ferenczi e Reich costituiscono, in conclusione, i rappresentanti di tre diversi tentativi di riformare la psicoanalisi “dall’interno” senza successo immediato. L’agenda da loro dettata consisteva nella riforma della tecnica nel senso dell’abbreviazione della terapia e intervento sul sociale. Il loro isolamento finale impedì che istanze positive venissero accolte e, d’altra parte, contribuì forse all’involuzione del loro pensiero. Proprio la stessa agenda che valse loro l’emarginazione è tuttavia tornata di estrema attualità oggi. La possibile speranza è che il mondo psicoanalitico non veda in nuovi riformatori dei corpi estranei da espellere ma ne valorizzi tutto il potenziale.

Study analyzes the macrolepidoptera assemblages in beech woodlands of the Orsomarso Mountains (Pollino National Park, Southern Italy) to assess the role of beech forests in preserving diversity in Mediterranean Basin. Research was run between 2015 and 2016 in 15 stands representative of the main successional stages of forest maturation, placed between 990 and 1,475 meters of elevation. Monthlybased sampling was performed using UV-LED light traps. A total of 33,957 individuals belonging to 410 species was collected. The community is rich and the most abundant and characteristic species (Eilema lurideola, Operophtera fagata, Campaea margaritata) are almost all trophically linked to broadleaves or lichens. The community structure appears fairly constant and recognizable in all stands over the two years of sampling. Young beech forests hosted the greatest number of species compared to other forest maturation stages, though the difference is small. The greatest differences in the community structure are found in the clearings, where generalist and/or related to the herbaceous layer species are mostly represented. Biogeographically widely distributed species prevail, 87% of them having European or Asian-European distribution. There are a number of species of faunistic interest, among which Perizoma juracolaria, Chelis maculosa, Tiliacea citrago, Poecilocampa populi, Triphosa dubitata, Sideridis reticulata, Nebula senectaria, including 13 Italian endemics such as Coenotephria antonii. Populations of many species show significant genetic diversities compared to other European populations. The Orsomarso Mountains beech forests represent an important biodiversity reservoir, even at the genetic level, and show a good degree of naturalness.

The development of digital design technologies offers undoubted teaching tools for design and planning: project, pro-jectare, throwing forward. Parametric design, BIM, augmented reality are now present in vocabulary and professional skills, but they often create a detachment from reality and materiality. The architecture, the unique and real one, is the built one, in which the material and spatial essences demonstrate whether the theoretical assumptions are valid or not. Imagining educational paths that lead students to create real artefacts is an innovative, unusual approach that combines educational research with applied research. The article outlines a path of collaboration among various institutions and tracks the premises, methodologies, and results, proposing future research developments and offering opportunities for dissemination, replication and dissemination.

The diving bell spider Argyroneta aquatica is the only known spider to conduct a wholly aquatic life. For this reason, it has been the object of an array of studies concerning different aspects of its peculiar biology such as reproductive behavior and sexual dimorphism, physiology, genetic and silk. On the other hand, besides some empirical observations, the autoecology of this spider is widely understudied. We conducted an ecological study in a resurgence located in the Po Plain (Northern Italy, Province of Vercelli) hosting a relatively rich population of Argyroneta aquatica, aiming at identifying the ecological factors driving its presence at the micro-habitat level. By means of a specific sampling methodology, we acquired distributional data of the spiders in the study area and monitored physical-chemical and habitat structure parameters at each plot. We analyzed the data through Bernoulli Generalized Linear Models (GLM). Results pointed out a significant positive effect of the presence of aquatic vegetation in the plot. In addition, the presence of A. aquatica was significantly associated with areas of the resurgence characterized at the same time by high prey availability and low density of predators. Considering the ecological importance and rarity of this species, we update and revise the data on the distribution of A. aquatica in Italy.

The cultivation terraces that characterise the territory of the Langhe are formed by a sandstone that is brought to light during the burial of the plow in the ground that after being grouped at the edges of the fields, is used to build the retaining walls of the terraces for the vineyard cultivation. The photographic project was born as a path from the natural fault that looks like an archaeological wall with its alternation of horizontal strips of sandstone and sand, to go through views of the landscape designed by the terraces to get to the most minute architecture that uses the same stone (Marco Introini, Pietra di Langa, 2003).

Which Psychodynamic Model to Reconstruct the Origin of Personal Identity? - Which psychodynamic model should serve as the fundamental reference in discussing the ontogenesis of personal identity? In this commentary, one of Barbieri’s implicit assumptions will be discussed. He relies on the theories of several authors like Bion, Mahler, Lacan and Stern, using their suggestions as convergent elements in a unified proposal concerning human psychological development. Nevertheless, many of these authors outlined very different models of the psychological birth of the infant and his/her relationship with the object, which means in psychoanalysis the “significant other”. Some recent contributions to Infant Research will be mentioned as well.

In Europe sulfur dioxide (SO2) and sulfites in foods and beverages at concentrations of more than 10 mg kg–1 or 10 mg L–1 expressed as SO2 equivalents are subject to mandatory labelling. In fresh meats the addition of sulfites is not admitted because of their unlawful use to give the product a more attractive appearance. Aim of the study was to detect sulfites in meat product sampled in 19 commercial shops of Lazio Region. In n=12 samples, sulfites were present at different concentrations and no indication for them was reported on the label. Sulfites concentrations ranged from 13.3 to 1278.9 mg kg–1. The results of the present investigation underline the need for better controls by operators, not only under the food information but also in the consumers’ health perspective.
