En el pasado, dos veces trabajé discutiendo sobre el trabajo de Wittgenstein en relación con el Geist que prevalecía en su época. Argüí, primero, que el Tractatus era una piedra angular y entonces continué la idea de que el último pensamiento de Wittgenstein ejemplificaba un esencial tratado modernista. Sin contradecir estos propósitos, ofrezco ahora una visión crítica del esteticismo crucial para el Modernismo y también para el pensamiento de Wittgenstein.

Immigration is not only about changing countries, but also about shifting identities. This change is especially important for adolescents. This article examines identity formation among 1.5 and 2nd generation adolescent immigrants to Israel. A survey of 125 children of immigrants aged 12-19 examined the role of social structures such as pace of life, culture, religion and language on identity formation in 1.5 and 2nd generational groups. We have identified several significant factors affecting the identities of children of migrants in each group. Looking beyond self-labeling, we argue that identity formation among children of immigrants is a continuous process in which the host country and origin country, both or neither of them, create dynamic hybrid patterns of identifications.

This text proposes a spatial approach to a particular historiographical analysis: the deconstruction of the Brazilian modern architecture narrative as advanced by its main proponent architect, Lúcio Costa. The analysis is advanced from three different perspectives. The first concerns the place from within the Brazilian modern architecture narrative occupied by Lúcio Costa during the 1930s, a period of major cultural unrest under the Estado Novo dictatorship (1937-1945). The second invokes the field of cultural geography, scrutinising Costa’s understanding of the concept of history and the way he understood and used the notions of transferences, exchanges and dialogues both in the cultural space of the time and between the past and the historical present. Costa’s commitments to the assertion of a national identity emerge in contrast to the supranational character of North American scholars George Kubler and Robert Chester Smith’s formulations on Latin American art and architecture. The third and last perspective introduces the idea of cultural dialogue, following the tradition of the spatial theoretical formulations developed by Georg Simmel and Martin Buber during the first quarter of the twentieth century.
