Malignant transformation of fibrous dysplasia is very rare. The frequency is increased in polyostotic forms especially when it is associated with McCune Albright Syndrome. In this article we have performed a review going to investigate 130 patients affected by fibrous dysplasia reported in the literature of the last ten years. All cases were studied using X-rays and biopsies and they were treated by surgery with pre- and post-operative chemotherapy. The surviving rate at 5 years was of 50% and two of six patients died for arising of systemic pathology. This review seeks to increase the attention on the possibility of malignant transformation, often not suspected, in patients with fibrous dysplasia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The authors present a clinical case of severe osteoporosis with periprothesic femoral fracture and numerous vertebral fractures in a 87 years old patient. Treatment had consist in reposition of prosthesis, fracture reduction with internal fixation plate. Teriparatide drug was administer as usual protocol. Clinical and X-rays controls after 3, 6 and 12 months showed a good result of therapy, with a healing fracture, a orthostatism and normal deambulation, with improvement of densimetry values and a less dorsolombar pain, as well as a significant improvement of patient's quality of life.
