PSYCHOANALYTIC interpretation , *GROUP psychotherapy , *MEDICAL research , *SOUND recordings , *EMPIRICAL research - Abstract
After an introduction to this 1964 talk, some considerations on the logic of interpretation in psychoanalysis and in clinical work are made. Among other things, the role of intuition and the ability of making predictions in terms of probability are discussed, as well as the relationship between clinical and empirical research. (This paper is the transcription of the audiorecording of a talk given at the Fourth training course of the "Milan Group for the Advancement of Psychotherapy" - which since the 1970s took the name of Psicoterapia e Scienze Umane - entitled "Theoretical problems and clinical cases", held in Milan on May 1-4, 1964; after the paper the discussion that followed this talk is published, with interventions by Silvano Arieti, Enzo Codignola, Franco Fornari, Luigi Frighi, Pier Francesco Galli, Mario Moreno, Diego Napolitani, and Enzo Spaltro). SIGN language , *ITALIAN language , *ART schools , *ANTHROPOSOPHY , *PUBLIC universities & colleges , *ECCENTRIC loads - Abstract
Two years after the recognition of the Italian Sign Language (LIS) in our country (May 19th, 2021), the Department of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Bergamo, in the context of the University Call for Public Engagement initiatives 2023, dedicated an exhibition-conference "Signs of Art: sign languages between expression and participation" to the creative, expressive, and communicative potential of LIS. This paper, which closes the first year of activity of the column "Inclusion: school and surroundings", intends to present this initiative which arose as the result of a research-training project conducted in collaboration with the “Giacomo and Pio Manzù” State Art School of Bergamo, the Scuola Audiofonetica of Brescia and the Ente Nazionale Deaf of Milan and aimed at promoting actions to support the school inclusion processes of deaf pupils and the qualification of the teaching staff on the sign languages. After an introduction by Pier Francesco Galli, the paper presented at a meeting entitled “Ten years of groups in Italy”, organized by Enzo Spaltro (1929-2021) in Milan in May 1970, is published. These are the themes that are discussed, among others: the role of the intellectual, and in particular of the psychoanalyst, in a society in transformation and which is modernizing; the function of group psychological and psychotherapeutic techniques and their possible use in a manipulative way; the importation of theories and techniques and the problem of possible cultural “colonization” by other countries; industrial and organizational psychology and the role of the psychologist in companies; and so on. ACADEMIC libraries , *UNIVERSITY rankings , *LIBRARY science , *LIBRARY information networks , *LIBRARY associations , *SUSTAINABLE development - Abstract
In recent years, Italian academic libraries have undertaken third mission activities linked to the enhancement of their heritage: library science scholars have already been studying this kind of initiatives, and today the Italian national agency for the evaluation of universities and research institutes (Anvur) considers such actions as a result of the institutional commitment of a university library. A workshop, organized by the Library System of the University of Ferrara together with the Italian library association during the Stelline congress 2022 (Milan, 11 march), analyzed the case study of the bibliotour Storie di libri e palazzi, set up by the University of Ferrara; the workshop also explored new strategic opportunities for the enhancement of academic libraries' heritage, firstly the inclusion of all audiences, with specific reference to Goal 10 ("Reduce inequalities") of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. Furthermore, this perspective embraces potentially the entire corpus of recommendations provided by the Agenda. The paper is intended not only to report the main ideas that emerged during the workshop held in Milan but, starting from them, also to suggest building a network of academic libraries, in order to facilitate the communication of third mission initiatives and their public outreach. Therefore, full adherence to the inclusive dimension and the commitment to sustainable development are two new strategic opportunities for academic library activities related to heritage enhancement. AIB has been supporting both strategies for several years, by means of concrete actions, such as the "Maria A. Abenante" Award, as well as organizational structures, like the Observatory on library and sustainable development (Obiss). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

COVID-19 , *TIME perception , *CLINICAL psychology , *HOSPITAL patients , *CLINICAL psychologists , *FEAR of death - Abstract
The Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) disease pandemic has a huge impact on global health and hospitals, which have had to reorganize their services to deal with an unprecedented health emergency. This paper describes the experience of the Clinical Psychology Unit of a large healthcare organization in Milan (Italy), focusing on the interventions delivered for hospitalized COVID-19 patients with the aim of highlighting their experiences and related psychological needs, and propose reflections on the functions that the psychologist can have with respect to these needs. The reflections are based on an extensive clinical experience conducted in presence for over a year with those patients hospitalized for COVID-19 who have received treatment with C-PAP, helmet, or low-flow oxygen. This led to the bottom-up identification of three macro-areas of issues that these patients face: isolation, fear of death, grief. In addition, two further transversal themes have been identified -- guilt and the perception of time -- which seem to modulate the articulation of the three macro-areas. Starting from these experiences and needs, two lines of actions of the psychologist with the hospitalized COVID-19 patient are identified that correspond to the two phases of hospitalization: 1) an action in the 'here and now' when the patient is still in a critical phase; 2) an action of narrative recovery of the lived experience when the patient is recovering. The importance for hospitalized COVID-19 patients of delivering psychological consultations in presence is supported by clinical experience; however, its effectiveness in preventing subsequent maladjustments should be evaluated in further studies. «It is the feet of clay that make the gold of the image precious. Her feet are very pretty, but they are not feet of clay. White porcelain feet, if you like. They have been through the fire, and what fire does not destroy, it hardens» (Oscar Wilde, Il ritratto di Dorian Gray, BUR, Milano, 2004, p. 217). With these words Oscar Wilde, British poet and novelist, inside of his masterpiece The picture of Dorian Gray, if on the one hand he underlines the value of clay by comparing it to the most precious of materials, that is gold, on the other he manages to admirably summarize the importance of fire within the clay manufacturing process. Taking inspiration from this quote, we can define the clay as one of the most used materials by man, second only to paper. In fact, throughout history, clay, mainly used for building purposes, was also used for the production of decorative objects or as a support for the first forms of writing. The stated objective of this article is precisely to retrace the evolution of clay extraction and processing processes, with particular reference to the industrial basin of Venetico/Fondachello, focusing, in a second time, on the recent challenges in the field of the enhancement of heritage of industrial archeology. In fact, this area, affected by an extraordinary economic expansions after the SecondWorld war, appears today studded with numerous plant for the production of clay in ruing. These structures, testimony of the area's industrial past, are currently at the center of many initiatives that aim to enhance both materially and culturally. The article is addressed to students of archaeological sciences and aims to highlight the key role that the concept of an educational tour (or field visit) plays. The concept of educational tour in intimately connected to the phenomenon of educational tourism. This phenomenon, used in various pedagogical systems, is considered by experts to be one of the most effective teaching techniques. The educational tourism, by definition, is considered as the meeting point between education and tourism, structuring tourism itself as preparatory activity for the achievement of educational objectives. COOKING , *APPRENTICESHIP programs , *INVENTIONS , *NAPKINS , *FORKS - Abstract
The present article retraces Leonardo's lifelong passion for cooking, moving from some attempts to introduce the nouvelle cuisine in Florentine inns during his apprenticeship in Verrocchio's workshop, towards his vivid interest in setting up sumptuous banquets and organizing spectacular feasts for Ludovico Sforza (also known as "Il Moro") in the Sforza's court in Milan. In the above-mentioned article it is also possible to find references to some of the artist-scientist's inventions he made to facilitate the tiring culinary work or to enrich the table, such as the spit roast, the three-pronged fork and the napkin.
