Libraries and archives house a wide variety of documents made of materials of vegetal and animal origin: unbound papers and books, manuscripts and printed books, photographs (negative and positive), prints, maps, available to the public for reading needs, study and information. These materials are often subject to fluctuations in environmental and micro-environmental parameters. For this reason, it is essential to implement constant monitoring and control of environmental conditions and potential deteriogens in order to slow down deterioration processes.The monitoring of the microbial degradation of paper documents in the Historical Archives of Palermo Astronomical Observatory has revealed microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) that may be considered responsible for damaging the items examined, thus enabling an evaluation of the real risks and the proper methodologies to use to avoid future recolonization.

Cardinal Giuseppe Mezzofanti was one of the most famous citizens in Bologna in the nineteenth century. As a well-known polyglot, he was at the centre of the city cultural life and was Full Professor of Oriental Languages; he was also responsible for the pontifical Library. After being called to Rome by Pope Gregory XVI in 1831, he became cardinal in 1838. Thanks to his great fame among his contemporaries, plenty of biographies about him were published, and still today the bibliography about this figure is getting richer and richer. Here we want to go deeper into some aspects of Cardinal Mezzofanti’s biography, to fully reinstate him inside the Bolognese Church, where he lived and worked since he had been ordained priest in 1797: Mezzofanti’s talents and services were appreciated and awarded by his superiours inside the Bolognese diocese.

After having tried to reconstruct the nature of Giuseppe Civitarese’s (2023a, 2023b, 2023c) proposal to found intersubjective psychoanalysis on the thought of the philosopher Husserl, and the subsequent discussions by Filippo Maria Ferro & Giuseppe Riefolo (2023) and by Mauro Fornaro (2023a, 20323b), it is proposed to try to reconstruct the history of intersubjectivity in psychoanalysis starting from its foundation by Harry Stack Sullivan who preferred to use the term “interpersonal”. Only after the introduction of the concept of projective identification by Melanie Klein in 1946 and the revisitation of the concept of countertransference by Paula Heimann in 1950, also the psychoanalytic mainstream begun moving in this direction, partly also utilizing the important contribution of those European philosophers who put the topic of intersubjectivity at the center of their work. This is how the analyst’s participation and the co-creation of the session are so important today. It is proposed a fine-tuning of the definition of intersubjectivity as inferable by Giuseppe Civitarese (2023a) – especially with regard to the expression “with-being” which is included therein – in order to overcome certain ambiguities within a constructive perspective, also paying particular attention to compatibility with Bion’s notion of group (and therefore of “field”). It is urged also to stick to the most consolidated interpretations of the philosophers mentioned, if their ideas are used in non-philosophical disciplines; in this way it is further attested to Husserl’s unlikely compatibility with psychoanalysis. The concept of presentification finds an important place in clinical models of trauma. In psychotherapy, do “present moment”, focus on the “here and now” and mindfulness refer to the same semantic field? Or is it sufficient to distinguish its contents through the favorable/maladaptive polarity? Are the concepts of “defensive automatism” and of “defensive style” overlapping? Is maladaptive presentation a metahistorical fact? Does adolescence show always behaviors of maladaptive presentification? The brief critical argument presented in this intervention on Luca Degasperi’s (2023) article starts from the need to clarify the epistemological field of the construct of presentification, suggesting an alternative terminological hypothesis to the maladaptive meaning and a socio-cultural recontextualization of the clinical pictures described. In dialogue with the paper by Civitarese (2023), some reflections are suggested. Intersubjectivity shifts the focus of psychoanalytic interest from the subject to the "intersubject". Psychoanalytic interest, therefore, moves from a study of phenomena toward a continuously unstable and fluid process. Such a process identifies fields and no more tòpoi in which it can organize itself. Our reflection seeks to emphasize the suggestions of Civitarese and, above all, is oriented toward underlining the three levels of intersubjectivity as proposed by Infant Research, preliminary to the more radical positions of Stolorow's group, and then of Jessica Benjamin and of Ogden. Intersubjectivity necessarily identifies a third type of unconscious, which is not only dynamic and pre-reflexive, but above all not validated. Finally, enactments, by disengaging action from acting-out, assume a function of creative evolution in the therapeutic process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The radiation dose received by interventional cardiologists during their activity in the catheterization laboratory is a matter of concern in terms of possible deterministic and stochastic risk. At the same time, very often, the knowledge of the effect and consequences of radiation exposure in the interventional cardiology community is limited. This document endorsed by the Italian Society of Interventional Cardiology (SICI-GISE) provides recommendations for cardiologists' radiation protection. Radiation safety considerations dedicated to women and other staff personnel working in the catheterization laboratory are also discussed.

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are the most important long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids of the n-3 series (n-3 PUFA). Recent studies have clarified that EPA and DHA have different tissue distribution and influence target organs in a distinct way. In addition to the main effect of reducing triglycerides (TG), they exert antithrombotic, antiarrhythmic, anti-inflammatory, anti-atherogenic, and hemodynamic effects. The different action of PUFA n-3 depends on the dosage and duration of treatment: the effect on TG requires high doses and a few weeks/months of treatment.Several epidemiological studies have shown a relationship between hypertriglyceridemia and cardiovascular risk, confirmed by post-hoc analysis of statin trials and by recent genetic linkage studies. Moreover in secondary prevention, the evidence of a significant "residual risk", even in the presence of an adequate control of LDL-cholesterol, has led the scientific community to consider further intervention objectives in the context of the individual lipid profile, the most promising of which is certainly hypertriglyceridemia.The recent landmark REDUCE-IT study is the first major lipid intervention study to demonstrate a benefit deriving from an approach not based on the LDL target, focusing on a determinant factor of residual risk such as hypertriglyceridemia and treating it with high doses of n-3 PUFA (4 g/day).Overall, the "lipid residual risk" approach involves two integrated actions: (i) the achievement of the LDL-cholesterol target (<70 mg/dl) by using statins, ezetimibe, PCSK9 inhibitors; (ii) checking TG levels in order to start n-3 PUFA in case of TG values >150 mg/dl, at an initial dosage of 2-3 g/day (up to 4 g/day after 10-12 weeks).

A substantial part of the final cost of health-related products is due to marketing, and the revenue from sales is, at least in some cases, disproportionally higher than the development costs. In this context, financial interests can add to drug pricing and prevail over healthcare issues and equity of access to services. Conflict of interest (COI) is a «condition in which the professional judgment concerning a primary interest (the health of a patient or the reliability of research results or the impartiality of clinical informations) tends to be unduly influenced by a secondary interest (for example an economic gain or a career advantage)». The potential consequences of COI extend from research to guideline drafting, from teaching to clinical decision making. The contiguity of opposing interests can condition the clinician, either consciously or unconsciously. This conditioning, in turn, can have direct consequences on the quality of the provided services, but can also cause insufficient transparency, or distrust of the Health Service. The College of Italian Medical Oncology Directors (CIPOMO) together with all the stakeholders that contribute to the good functioning of cancer care, issues a list of statements that refer to principles of transparency and ethicality in the use of resources. The following recommendations do not intend to establish rules of conduct. Rather, they have the purpose of contributing to awareness of the nature and potential consequences of COI in the clinical community and of promoting constructive reflection within healthcare organizations.

L’any 2019 es va celebrar el 10è aniversari de la posada en funcionament de l’Oficina Antifrau de Catalunya (OAC). En el treball s’analitza, en vista d’aquests deu anys d’experiència, quin ha estat el funcionament de l’OAC en les seves funcions investigadora i preventiva, amb especial atenció a aquells àmbits de major rellevància, com ara les denúncies anònimes i la protecció de les persones denunciants. En el segon bloc del treball, sobre la base de l’anàlisi prèvia, es plantegen línies de reforma en el marc regulador i en el funcionament de l’OAC, amb l’objectiu d’atribuir a l’OAC un paper central en un sistema d’integritat i anticorrupció català efectiu encara en construcció. Les principals propostes són reforçar la protecció de les persones denunciants i clarificar el sistema de denúncies davant l’OAC, reconèixer la potestat sancionadora de l’OAC associada a infraccions de nova creació lligades a les activitats investigadores i preventives de l’OAC, facilitar la formulació de consultes no vinculants i promoure la modernització tecnològica de la lluita contra la corrupció a Catalunya.

The Disjunction This essay will discuss the difference in nature and essence between science and philosophy. This difference also signifies a disjunction which, while on the one hand is destined to intensify, on the other is going to persist as their original point of articulation. The awareness of such original articulation will never be achieved and yet it will have to be sought after in spite of its apparent unattainability.

The essay is divided into three parts: in the first it offers an overview of the most recent studies dedicated to archives in person, in the disciplinary field of Italianistics and in that of Archivistics; in the second it outlines a biographical profile of the subject producing the archive; in the last one some observations on the archive are made.

Research papers, an essential vehicle for disseminating new knowledge and findings, have long been valued for their linguistic objectivity and impersonality. However, more recent approaches to research paper writing suggest that authors should also take an “argumentative position” (White, 2003) by projecting their stance and encouraging the readers to actively engage in the process of reading and evaluating the text (Hyland, 2005; Scollon, 1994). An important linguistic feature, frequently employed for both objective and subjective presentation of claims, is modality and within it modal verbs, which through their modal meanings express different communicative functions. In recognition of genre- and discipline-specific norms, the present paper will focus on quantitative and qualitative analysis of modal verbs and their meanings and functions in logistics research papers, whereby the ultimate goal is to show what practical implications the study’s results may have for the teaching of English to students of logistics.

Sacubitril/valsartan, the first-in-class angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI), is the first medication to demonstrate a mortality benefit in patients with chronic heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) since the early 2000s. Sacubitril/valsartan simultaneously suppresses renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system activation through blockade of angiotensin II type 1 receptors and enhances the activity of vasoactive peptides including natriuretic peptides, through inhibition of neprilysin, the enzyme responsible for their degradation. In the landmark PARADIGM-HF trial, patients with HFrEF treated with sacubitril/valsartan had a 20% reduction in the primary composite endpoint of cardiovascular death or heart failure hospitalization, a 20% lower risk of cardiovascular death, a 21% to 20% lower risk of a first heart failure hospitalization, and a 16% to 20% lower risk of death from any cause, compared with subjects allocated to enalapril (all p<0.001).Following the trial, new international guidelines endorsed sacubitril/valsartan as a class I recommendation for the management of patients with HFrEF who remain symptomatic despite optimal medical management. In Italy, sacubitril/valsartan is reimbursed by the National Health Service since March 2017 within criteria set by the Italian Medicines Agency subject to patient inclusion in a dedicated monitoring registry. Although numerous post-hoc analyses of the original trial suggested that the benefits of this innovative medication may extend across a variety of subgroups, many questions do not yet have an evidence-based answer.In this position paper, we discuss the current role of sacubitril/valsartan in the management of chronic HFrEF, treatment eligibility and the modulating role of patients' characteristics. Moreover, we address concerns elicited by the PARADIGM-HF study and shortcomings of this novel drug, to clarify the place of this new therapy in the context of global care of heart failure in Italy. Our aim is to provide clinical cardiologists with a concise and practical guidance on when and how to use sacubitril/valsartan, to assist clinicians in closing the gap between scientific innovation and real-world experience.

Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) represents a cardiology subspecialty that is devoted to the care of cardiac patients, early and long term after an acute event. CR aims at improving both quality of life and prognosis through risk and prognostic stratification, clinical stabilization and optimization of therapy, management of comorbidities, treatment of disability, and the provision of sustained long-term preventive and rehabilitative services.The mission of CR has changed over time. From being centred on the acute phase, health care of cardiac patients is increasingly involving the long-term chronic phase. The aim of the present position paper is to provide the state of the art of CR in Italy, discussing strengths and weaknesses as well as future perspectives.

Aquesta recerca examina el paper actual del Tribunal de Justícia de la Unió Europea en la governança de la Unió a la llum de la seva jurisprudència recent enunciant primerament resolucions jurisdiccionals emblemàtiques de l’última dècada (2010-2019) i fent una anàlisi particular de la Sentència Bauer i Broßonn, de 2018, per la seva especial transcendència respecte a l’efecte directe horitzontal dels drets reconeguts per la Carta de Drets Fonamentals de la Unió Europea i, indirectament, la invocabilitat en un litigi entre particulars de preceptes d’una directiva que concreta aquells drets. A continuació s’analitza la posició privilegiada del Tribunal de Justícia en l’organigrama institucional de la Unió després del Tractat de Lisboa, de 13 de desembre de 2007, per comprendre millor per què aquesta institució ha pogut contribuir tan decisivament a la preservació i la consolidació de la integració europea. L’estudi conclou amb l’examen de si existeix un govern de jutges en la Unió Europea.

L’articolo esamina l’evoluzione dei pop-up books destinati all’infanzia, nel periodo compreso tra la fine del Settecento e la fine del Novecento e, in particolare, la personalità artistica di alcuni editori/paper engineer (Dean and Son, Lothar Meggendorfer, Ernest Nister, S. Louise Giraud, Vojtĕch Kubăsta). Il contributo illustra inoltre il funzionamento di alcuni dispositivi cartotecnici da loro progettati e realizzati. Resta deliberatamente escluso dall’indagine il pop-up book digitale, che presenta caratteristiche e problematiche diverse rispetto al libro cartaceo e che pertanto esulano dall’ambito di interesse del saggio.

Els escàndols de corrupció a l’Estat espanyol han comportat una crisi de credibilitat del sector públic i dels seus mecanismes de control. Els organismes i les institucions internacionals aposten per noves formes de governança i d’integritat institucional que requereixen un canvi profund de cultura organitzativa. Aquest canvi ha de permetre implantar un “marc integral de control intern” inspirat en la metodologia COSO III, que ha de ser implementat i mantingut pels responsables del govern de l’entitat i ha de conviure amb el control intern que és responsabilitat dels interventors del sector públic. En aquest treball s’analitza la configuració actual del control intern en les administracions públiques, les seves debilitats i fortaleses. També es fan propostes de millora per configurar un marc integral de control intern que proporcioni una seguretat raonable sobre la consecució dels objectius de l’entitat, la fiabilitat de la informació financera, l’eficàcia, l’eficiència de les operacions i el compliment de les disposicions legals aplicables que permeti una prevenció efectiva del frau i la corrupció.

The paper Footprints on Paper. Epiphanies and "Scartafacci" to Say Marie Taglioni (Bologna 1842) investigates a brief period of the career of one of the greatest stars of the romantic ballet, Marie Taglioni (1804 -1884). She arrives in a city of the Italian province, Bologna, in 1842, when she is at the apex of her career. In this occasion several attempts are unfolded to say her dance through the words of different typologies of poetic writings of occasion, as it also happens for other divas of the epoch, for instance Fanny Elssler.

Abstract

The author responds to the critical remarks in the comments by Ferro & Riefolo (2023) and by Fornaro (2023). The main points are, in the first comment, the status of reality in psychoanalysis, enactment, the various conceptions of the unconscious, self-disclosure, and the dialogue between philosophy and psychoanalysis. As for the second comment, on the other hand, the issues addressed concern the interpretation of Husserl's contribution to a better definition of the concept of intersubjectivity in psychoanalysis and methodological aspects related to the use of notions derived from speculative thought. It is well established that gender strongly influences cardiovascular risk factors, playing a crucial role in cardiovascular prevention, clinical pathways, diagnostic approach and treatment. Beyond the sex, which is a biological factor, gender entails a socio-cultural condition that impacts access and quality of care due to structural and institutional barriers. However, despite its great importance, this issue has not been adequately covered. Indeed sex and gender differences scarcely impact the clinical approach, creating a lot of disparities in care and outcomes of patients. Therefore, it becomes essential to increase the awareness of the importance of sex and gender influences on cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, new strategies for reducing disparities should be developed. Importantly, these differences should be taken into account in guideline recommendations. In this regard, it is crucial to include a greater number of women in clinical trials, since they are currently underrepresented. Furthermore, more women should be involved as member of international boards in order to develop recommendations and guidelines with more attention to this important topic.The aim of this ANMCO position paper is to shed light on gender differences concerning many cardiovascular drugs in order to encourage a more personalized therapeutic approach.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a neoplasm characterized by both clinical and biological heterogeneity. Its management requires the expertise of multiple medical specialists and is made complex by the old age of most patients, frequently showing comorbidities. Therefore, HCC management needs a multidisciplinary approach. The aim of this article is to illustrate multi-society recommendations regarding the management of HCC patients, from diagnosis to treatment and follow-up. In particular, in every stage, HCC treatment comprises multiple alternatives and the best option for every patient should be decided by a multidisciplinary team.

Objectiu: analitzar les enquadernacions artístiques dels impresos del segle xviii recollides en la Base de dades d'enquadernació historicoartística de la Real Biblioteca per localitzar-hi les guardes dutes a terme amb papers decorats, amb la finalitat de classificar-los i descriure'ls segons les propostes de la literatura especialitzada. -- Metodologia: es recuperen els registres de la base de dades pel camp 'Fecha', s'extreu la informació dels camps 'Guardas' i 'Notas', s'analitzen les reproduccions de les guardes, s'identifiquen i es descriuen seguint el model de classificació de papers decorats, prèviament elaborat, inspirat en els treballs del professor Carpallo Bautista, format per cinc tècniques i les seves variants, i finalment s'efectua una anàlisi comparativa. -- Resultats: entre els 382 exemplars amb enquadernacions artístiques dels impresos del segle xviii s'han localitzat i analitzat 10 exemplars que inclouen guardes decorades amb planxes xilogràfiques, 135 papers marbrats o jaspiats amb bany (amb dissenys corresponents a 7 variants), 4 exemplars de papers encolats amb engrut, 3 exemplars de papers esquitxats, 18 exemplars amb papers daurats i gofrats, i 4 exemplars d'altres tipus (paper argentat, paper de percalina). Objective: to analyse the artistic bindings of the eighteenth-century prints stored in the Historical-artistic Binding Database of the Royal Library, in order to locate the endpapers made with decorated papers, and to classify and describe them according to the proposals of the specialist literature. -- Methodology: The records from the database were retrieved using the 'date' field, and the information is extracted from the 'endpapers' and 'notes' fields. The reproductions of the endpapers were analysed, identified and described following the classification model of decorated papers inspired by the works of Professor Carpallo Bautista, consisting of five techniques and their variants. Finally, a comparative analysis was carried out. -- Results: Among the 382 eighteenth-century prints with artistic bindings, ten were located and analysed that include endpapers decorated with xylographic plates, 135 with marbled or mottled papers (with designs corresponding to seven variants), four with paste-glued papers, three with dotted papers, 18 with gold and embossed papers, and four of other kinds such as silver or percaline paper.

Este artigo aborda o futuro do trabalho como fenômeno comu-nicacional, por meio de sua análise como construção discursiva. Elegemos como objeto dois relatórios, dois documentos prospectivos: um assinado pelo World Economic Forum — talvez o maior porta-voz do capitalismo global — e outro da corporação Dell Technologies, expoente da economia digital mundial. Buscamos identificar de que forma esses discursos sobre o futuro do trabalho mobilizam códigos hegemônicos do neoliberalismo, compreendido como lógica social. Essa lógica pressupõe a produção de sujeitos, por meio de competências, perfis, como capital humano a ser gerido com eficácia. A metodologia é baseada na noção de discurso social de Angenot — que propõe a análise do espírito do tempo em sua disseminação nos discursos de dado contexto histórico e social.

The pressure to publish academic papers for career advancement and technological innovations have fostered the growth of a new phenomenon, the serial fabrication of articles to be submitted to scientific journals. Papers with fake content are produced by specialised publishing agencies. Journal editors and publishers increased vigilance and control, tightening the peer review process and using anti-plagiarism software. But, being a systemic issue, it is not easy to find the solution and action must be taken on its causes: greater awareness of research ethics is needed, specific training for young doctors and - in the long run - an appropriate use of artificial intelligence, which should become a tool for protecting the integrity of knowledge.

The regular school and the special school, despite having diferents work proposals, have a common purpose, to educate and empower the autonomy and the adaptive capacity of the individuals. This study has a general objective to identify the perception of autonomy and support intensity for parents and teachers of children with intellectual disabilities. The research had a transversal approach with explanatory, descriptive and qualitative character. Five children were studied had ages between seven and ten years and a diagnosis of intellectual disability. Data collection was done with four teachers and four mothers related to the same child, so the research had the participation of 8 individuals. The results demonstrate perceptions of a greater intensity of support reported by those responsible for the children who are the target of the research when compared to the teachers, as well as the view they have about autonomy that is not in accordance with the literature (Silva, 2008) and the perception about the tutor’s duties are not in accordance with the Brazilian Inclusion Law. It is possible to understand the importance of teacher training for diversity so that they feel more secure in the face of the new paradigms of inclusive education. It seeks to understand the necessary supports for each child specifically, so that it is possible to draw strategies more effective than the paraprofessional

The Gaetano Cicognani Library in Faenza is linked to the life of its Seminary which, in 1953, after the hard years of the Second World War, was definitively moved to its present location by Bishop Giuseppe Battaglia. Also in the case of Faenza, the study of the historical and cultural events that characterize the institution and the life of the seminary brings new pieces to the wider picture not only of the religious and cultural history, but also of the political and social history of the territory in which it arose. In the project of the new seminar pursued by Battaglia the construction of the annexed library occupied a prominent place and from the very beginning could count on the support and commitment of Cardinal Gaetano Cicognani (1881-1962) who, at the time, had been together to his brother Amleto Giovanni, a student from the Faenza seminary to whom, despite diplomatic and curial commitments, they maintained constant attention and concern. Gaetano Cicognani took charge of the library in all aspects, with particular attention to enriching constantly the book heritage in which flowed also the texts belonging to the cardinal’s personal library and part of his eloquent and not yet studied testimonials, of his activity of apostolic nuncio in crucial years and nations such as Austria of the years 1936-38 or Spain of the period 1938-53, and of his involvement in the preparatory works of the Vatican Council II. After the cardinal’s death in 1962, “his” library continued to expand, recording a considerable increase in its assets. It has gradually become a gathering point for religious and monastic funds belonging to convents and religious settlements closed or transferred to other offices and libraries of diocesan priests.

The essay critically investigates some drawings elaborated by Giovanni Battista Cipriani during his architectural studies with Giuseppe Palazzi, in the 1780s in Rome. Relationships between these drawings and their known graphic sources are studied and can be traced back to some plates of the first Libro primo Scielta di varii tempietti antichi di Giovanni Battista Montano (Rome 1624) in the edition of 1684. These drawings have a double meaning for the history of Representation, as they are the results of an eidetic practice that acts an interpretative process of a given graphic source – which has become a building on paper to be surveyed and synthetically redrawn – or as the final result of a process of partial reconfiguration with heuristic values, at least as regards the use of drawing as a tool for representing architect’s ideas and projects. From this point of view, Cipriani’s works become interpreting tools for the practice of surveying drawing and graphic sources, as well as symbols of the value of drawing intended as an expression of the memory of its author, as it happened when re-annotated on the Libraccio o miscellanea di memorie spettanti alle belle arti (1801 e seg.), the model of the ‘opera omnia’ representing Cipriani’s concept of eidetic knowledge.

Giacomo Leopardi fu molto attento alle caratteristiche delle edizioni che trasmettevano i suoi testi e i testi del passato, soprattutto quelli da lui curati, discutendo con gli stampatori gli aspetti della messa in pagina, della grafia, della correzione, delle modalità di stampa e persino della carta. Questo saggio, studiando le indicazioni date da Leopardi per la pubblicazione dei propri libri, permette di porre in rilievo, da un punto di vista nuovo, l’immagine che lo scrittore aveva dei propri testi e dei lettori che voleva raggiungere. «Paper architectures». This essay, studying the writer’s recommendations for the editions of his books underlines, from a new point of view, Leopardi’s ideas regarding his texts and their readers.
