A conscious and critical evaluation of Web resources, an introduction to distance learning and the presentation of some e-learning experiences are the focus of this paper. The first paragraph will dwell upon the evaluation of Web sites dealing with teaching matters. Some parameters, selected in order to help students and teachers determine the quality, the authenticity or the usefulness of Internet materials, will be highlighted and three evaluation schemes, chosen among the countless examples available on the Internet, will be presented, explained and judged. The second part will be devoted to e-learning and, after some theoretical considerations on models, tools and teaching principles, some distance learning courses will be taken into account, illustrated and evaluated in order to underline the weaknesses and strengths of this (new) way of teaching/learning which, though an excellent resource, should be better exploited to give more fruitful results.
