In my study, I spotlight the concept of digital humanism and briefly examine some aspects of the complex process that has become known in recent years as “digital transformation”. Throughout the paper, the underlying question persists: how does digitalization impact various human communities, and what (new) emphases emerge in the different formulations of responses to digitalization as a challenge? Given the monumental nature of the topic, with nearly every aspect being dynamic, malleable, and continuously evolving, I view this study as an outline and a thought-provoking piece, and I ask the reader to do the same. Although some global information and communication technology (ICT) guidelines and strategies appear to be already accepted, ICT itself, along with the human thinking that enables it, is perpetually dynamic. There is no “definitively” closed horizon as long as the observer of that horizon sees it as such. This is why it is important to realize that our actions, both within and outside the digital space, intentionally or unintentionally impact the process of digital transformation. This paper seeks to present an overview of the multi-stage transformation of the digital and increasingly internet-focused media economy over the last three decades. Accordingly, it outlines the main structural, organisational and operational features of the media's convergence, telecommunications and computer technology, and argues that, in light of the foregoing, any sharp distinction between the ‘old' and ‘new' players in the media sector seems somewhat misleading and requires a more nu-anced approach. E-government was born at the border of three different fields: public administration, information and communication technologies as well as business management. However, the content of the term is far from being precisely defined. According to one of the most generally accepted definitions, e-government ensures the efficient access to and use of services and information sources provided by the government, or in a broader sense, by the state and local government administration. Thus e- government provides an alternative to paper-based or personal communication, offering new ways of interaction between the administrative offices and the citizens. Besides provision of quality government services, effective e-government encourages the active participation of citizens in decision making and democratic practices. Public libraries could play an important role in this process. Nevertheless, as it can be revealed from related articles in LIS literature, this role is mostly limited to ensuring access to and use of e-government services, collecting useful links, as well as improving the ICT skills of citizens through training. Governments need to adopt a new approach, empowering libraries to become active participants of e-government initiatives. This paper presents the challenges of introducing e-government services in library environment with a focus on US examples, including the related activities of the Information Institute at Florida State University and the American Library Association. The paper offers a case study of successful library moves. The Central Library of the Corvinus University of Budapest moved its collection of 11,000 metres of shelving to the new building of the university in 2007. The key elements of the successful accomplishment of the project included careful planning, efficient management and modified logistic processes ensuring user comfort. The paper describes the main work phases of the project: the planning of new locations in the new spaces, the inventory process and the downsize of the collection, the public purchase procedure necessary for the implementation of the project, the new collection map of the library, as well as the ICT solutions supporting collection and stack management. As a result, the move was carried out with the most efficient allocation of resources and the collection was reorganized in a new, service-centered way. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In their study the authors deal with the desktop computers (Desktop), laptops (notebooks and netbooks), smartphones and tablet machines among of information and communication technology (hereinafter referred to as ICT) tools. The capacity of society is one of the key elements in the examination of spread of ICT. The relationship between technology and society is presented with different methods and models that are justified by the need for increasing the use of these devices. One of the most popular concept of the recent web searches is cloud computing. Several authors present detailed description of the new service model and it's business benefits and cite the optimistic prognoses of the cloud experts regarding the competition of information system service models. The author analyses the operational benefits of the cloud application and give a detailed description of the inhibitors of the fast expansion of the service modell. He also analyses the pros and cons of the cloud for a business manager, an information and a compliance officer. When understanding the advantages of the cloud, it is equally important to review the problems and risks associated with the model. The paper gives a list of the expected cloud-specific risks. It also explains the differences in security and data protection approach between the European Economic Area and the rest of the world, including the USA. The explains why slower expansion of the cloud modell is expected in Europe than in the rest of the world. The efforts of the EU Committee in helping to spread the cloud model is also presented, as the EU's officers consider the model as an important element of competitiveness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper outlines the concept of a nation-wide ICT infrastructure system available for all citizens, allowing symmetric and broadband electronic access and communication. The setting up of the public infrastructure should be driven by the Hungarian state, in order to balance the shortcomings of the information market and ensure that the objective of equal opportunities in accessing and using digital information is fulfilled. The rapid development of the Information Communication Technologies and the Internet, and their ever growing use makes it necessary to satisfy the needs of all users, including those with disabilities, having accessibility problems. Therefore we have developed a new validator software called XValid, which is a human controlled testing tool for specific needs in light of "Design for All", and based on the recommendations of WCAG 2.0. We used the well-known WebXACT, as well as our newly developed XValid validator for testing web pages. The testing was carried out in 15 categories: journals, web shops, government sites, websites related to health, TV channels' sites, educational sites, commercial sites, news sites, time-tables, sites related to leisure activities… Museums, Assistive technologies, Chat sites, sport news, and web pages of banks. We made a comparison between the results of the two testing tools. The paper provides a summary of the most typical shortcomings to be taken into account by the designers of future web- sites. Education and libraries have always been closely interconnected, despite all the changes that educational systems and libraries have undergone over the past centuries. In our times, the collaboration has become even more important and the new forms of education, together with the development of ICT tools used in education urges libraries to renew their services in a radical way. In order to meet the newly arising needs of educational institutions, libraries must undertake new tasks which have not been tested in library environment before. One of these tasks is the active support of e- learning management systems. There are many unclear issues concerning the role of libraries in e- learning. Intensive work is being done by experts of ICT and education worldwide in order to elaborate and fine-tune effective models. Hungary has also started to investigate the ways of setting up and operating a national digital collection of text- books and learning resources. One of the ongoing projects carried out in the framework of the Hungarian Strategy for ICT in Education is called the e- Learning Library. The project aims to gradually replace print publishing of textbooks with digitally stored educational contents. Another aim is to set up digital resource centres which primarily serve customers, but also operate as centres of competence in educational innovation and methodology.
