Die Vergangenheit ist das, was die Ich-Erzählerin ausmacht. Ihr ganzes Leben lang wird sie mit der Vergangenheit konfrontiert. Das Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit war es, den Umgang mit der Vergangenheit in der Familie zu analysieren und Mechanismen der Vergangenheitsbewältigung festzustellen. Es konnte festgestellt werden, dass jede Generation auf ihre Weise mit der Vergangenheit der Familie umgeht. Sie sind entweder von der Vergangenheit auch viele Jahre nach den traumatischen Erlebnissen schwer belastet oder haben daraus gelernt und Schlüsse für die Zukunft gezogen. Eine wichtige Rolle spielt dabei auch die dritte Generation, die den Krieg nicht miterlebt hat, aber von den Erlebnissen und Erfahrungen ihrer Familienmitglieder dennoch geprägt ist. Anders als die ersten beiden Generationen kann die Enkelin die Vergangenheit mit einem größeren Abstand betrachten. Haderlaps Roman kann eindeutig dem Genre des Generationenromans zugeordnet werden. Dafür sprechen das Erzählen aus der Perspektive der dritten Generation, die Darstellung von drei Generationen einer Familie, die Präsentation der Geschichte und ihrer Auswirkungen auf eine Familie und ein ganzes Volk. Prošlost je ono što oblikuje pripovjedačicu u romanu. Cijeli svoj život suočena je s prošlošću. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je analizirati kako se obitelj nosi s prošlošću te utvrditi mehanizme suočavanja s prošlošću. Može se zaključiti da se svaka generacija na svoj način suočava s prošlošću obitelji. Ili su i nakon mnogo godina i dalje jako opterećeni traumatičnim iskustvima iz prošlosti, ili su iz toga nešto naučili i izvukli zaključke za budućnost. Važnu ulogu u cijeloj priči ima i treća generacija koja nije doživjela rat, ali je ipak oblikovana doživljajima i iskustvima članova svoje obitelji. Za razliku od prve dvije generacije unuka prošlost može promatrati s većim odmakom. Roman Maje Haderlap jasno se može odrediti kao generacijski roman. To svakako potkrepljuje pripovijedanje iz perspektive treće generacije, predstavljanje triju generacija jedne obitelji, prikaz povijesti i njezini učinci na jednu obitelj kao i na čitav narod. The past is what shapes the narrator in Haderlap’s novel. Her whole life she faces the past. The aim of this thesis was to analyse how the family deals with the past and to determine the mechanisms of dealing with the past. It can be concluded that each generation faces the family’s past in its own way. Either, after many years, they are still heavily burdened by traumatic experiences from the past, or they have learned something from it and have drawn conclusions for the future. Important role in the whole story is played by the third generation who did not experience the war, but is still shaped by the experiences of their family members. Unlike the first two generations, the granddaughter can observe the past from a distance. Haderlap’s novel can clearly be attributed to the generational novel genre. This is certainly supported by the narration from the perspective of the third generation, the presentation of three generations of one family, the presentation of history and its effects on one family as well as on the whole nation.

Diese Diplomarbeit analysiert drei österreichische Dramen aus den 80er Jahren: Burgtheater. Posse mit Gesang (1985) von Elfriede Jelinek, Kein schöner Land (1987) von Felix Mitterer und Heldenplatz (1988) von Thomas Bernhard. In allen drei Dramen behandeln die SchriftstellerInnen das Thema der nationalsozialistischen Vergangenheit Österreichs, was in der österreichischen Öffentlichkeit als Hass gegenüber der eigenen Heimat interpretiert wurde. Elfriede Jelinek zeigt, wie leicht sich die nationalsozialistische Ideologie durch die Propagandakunst in Österreich verbreitete. Bernhard und Mitterer zeigen, wie groß die Folgen von Nationalsozialismus in Österreich für die jüdischen Familien in Wien und in einem Dorf in den Tiroler Bergen waren. Die Vermeidung und Nichtbeachtung der nationalsozialistischen Vergangenheit schaden der Gesellschaft sogar fünfzig Jahre nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg. Deswegen brechen diese SchriftstellerInnen das Schweigen und gehen mit der Vermeidung von Schuldbekenntnis scharf ins Gericht. Sie bringen die Vergangenheit absichtlich ans Licht, um in der Öffentlichkeit Diskussionen über dieses wichtige Thema zu initiieren und so das für die Gesellschaft schädliche Problem zu lösen. Posse mit Gesang (1985) Elfriede Jelinek, Kein schöner Land (1987) Felixa Mitterera i Heldenplatz (1988) Thomasa Bernharda. U trima dramama autori obrađuju temu suočavanja s austrijskom nacističkom prošlosti, što se u austrijskoj javnosti obično interpretiralo kao mržnja prema vlastitoj domovini. Elfriede Jelinek u svom djelu pokazuje kako se nacistička ideologija kroz propagandnu umjetnost lako proširila Austrijom. Bernhard i Mitterer pokazuju koliko su ozbiljne bile posljedice nacionalsocijalizma u Austriji za židovske obitelji u Beču i na selu u Tirolu. Izbjegavanje i zanemarivanje nacionalsocijalističke prošlosti štete društvu čak i pedeset godina nakon Drugog svjetskog rata, a autori prekidaju šutnju i oštro se suočavaju s izbjegavanjem kolektivne krivnje. Svjesno i namjerno iznose prošlost na vidjelo kako bi pokrenuli javne rasprave o ovoj temi te kako bi riješili ovaj po društvo štetan problem. This thesis analyzes three Austrian dramas from the 80s: Burgtheater. Posse mit Gesang (1985) by Elfriede Jelinek, Kein schöner Land (1987) by Felix Mitterer and Heldenplatz (1988) by Thomas Bernhard. In all three dramas, the authors deal with the issue of National Socialist past in Austria, which the Austrian public interprets as hate towards their homeland. Elfriede Jelinek shows how easily the Nazi ideology spread through the art of propaganda in Austria. Bernhard and Mitterer, on the other hand, show how serious the consequences of National Socialism in Austria were for Jewish families in Vienna and in a village in Tyrol. Avoiding and ignoring the Nazi past has its harmful effects on the society even fifty years after the Second World War. That is the reason why these authors break the silence and take a sharp stand against the avoidance of admitting the collective guilt. They deliberately bring the past to light in order to initiate public discussions about this important topic and to solve the problem harmful to society from within.
