This article focuses on opera for children, taking a broad overview across time and space. The aim of the research is to identify what constitutes opera for children by embracing its dramaturgical, poetic, imagistic, and symbolic aspects. The chosen approach was sensitive listening to children, and alongside this, exploring important aspects of theory and practice. A case study was used as a framework for analysis — the creative process of the children's opera Bem no Meio, which served as the basis for the production of mini-documentaries in digital snippets. These mini-docs provide pedagogical support for raising awareness and educating students, parents, teachers, and new audiences. They were intended to generate a visual literature of opera for children, a genre that is still little disseminated and studied in Brazil. The research incorporated concepts from the phenomenology of the imagination, particularly those of Gaston Bachelard (2008).

O artigo objetiva discutir a relevância da Teoria Geral dos Complexos na obra do filósofo Gaston Bachelard e autores diversos, considerando que seu olhar sobre o mundo e as coisas é profundo e curioso, remetendo-nos para uma leitura do mundo ao modo do educador-filósofo Paulo Freire. A pesquisa teve início no mestrado e se estendeu por toda a vida da pesquisadora, que compreende quase trinta anos de pesquisa e buscas em redes de internet, revistas, jornais e fontes documentais e bibliográficas. Este artigo trata de discutir a relevância de uma segunda edição, revista e ampliada com realinhamento do título nesta nova versão. A metodologia utilizada foi a crítico-investigativa.

O objetivo deste trabalho é de revisitar dois filósofos contemporâneos, cujas ideias sobre a noção de imaginação são muito próximas. O primeiro é um pensador francês, Gaston Bachelard, de importância inegável. O outro, José Américo Pessanha, é um pensador brasileiro que em seus cursos e conferencias, deixava entrever nas entrelinhas, o ensinamento de suas próprias ideias filosóficas. Os dois filósofos renovam a noção de imaginação, apoiando-se na critica à tradição filosófica. Mostram que a imaginação não pode ser compreendida como simulacro do real percebido, pois isto faria com que esta fosse menosprezada diante da percepção e da ideia. José Américo propõe, então, para corroborar esta tese três exercícios de imaginação, retomando para isso a cosmogonia de Empédocles, analisando depois o quadro de Bosch “A tentação de Santo Antão” que mostra o mundo às avessas e, retomando, por último, o livro de Umberto Ecco procura mostrar que as imagens delirantes que não respeitam a sintaxe natural e ordenada do mundo não são frutos do mal e do pecado de dar asas à imaginação, mas, ao contrário, são resultado de uma hilaridade que provoca o riso e a alegria.

RESUMO O artigo propõe-se a explorar, a partir de uma posição bachelardiana, as relações entre imaginação e horror. Para tanto, examino o campo dos sonhos vividos durante o regime de terror nazista, e em especial o material onírico e a experiência vivida por Jean Cayrol no universo concentracionário, pondo à prova teses fundamentais da concepção bachelardiana acerca da imaginação criadora em sua significação antropológico-existencial.

Nas obras A intuição do instante (1932) e A dialética da duração (1936), o problema do tempo nos é apresentado em paralelo a um psicologismo temporal bachelardiano que objetivamos situar. Inicialmente, será através de um não-bergsonismo — ou seja, um bergsonismo generalizado — que convirá introduzirmos as nuances psicológicas das teses bachelardianas, elencando: 1) sua interpretação de memória, amparada pelas teses sobre a conduta do psicólogo Pierre Janet (contra a imediaticidade) e 2) a evidenciação do dinamismo e liberdade presentes na psyché a partir da valorização da ideia de intervalos imanentes às estruturas temporais da consciência (descontinuidade).

O artigo se inicia com uma breve análise de três textos tardios de Michel Foucault (1983-1984) que remetem a uma certa herança iluminista no pensamento epistemológico francês, para em seguida avançar algumas considerações a respeito dessa herança de uma perspectiva um pouco diversa da foucaultiana. Para isso, recorremos a um texto posterior de Canguilhem (1987) sobre a ideia de progresso, para em seguida fazermos um recuo à obra de Bachelard, antes de retornarmos novamente a Canguilhem. Neste recuo, abordamos a noção de “psicanálise do fogo’ em Bachelard, com suas reminiscências nietzschianas e freudianas, para ao cabo concluirmos com uma consideração a respeito da possibilidade de uma “pedagogia da cura”, tal como formulada por Canguilhem.

As has often been noted, BACHELARD's counter-intuitive orientation to scientific inquiry, with its rationalizing insistence on relational anti-essentialism, has profound implications for social research methodology. The question remains how this orientation might inform the actual practice of research. In this article we present a pragmatic response, one that emphasizes the need to scrupulously avoid the use of essentialized categories. Doing so involves much work and constant vigilance, for which technique is an absolute requirement. Our reading of BACHELARD therefore insists that productive research requires the artifice of a methodological technology that wrenches research from self-evidence whilst avoiding its ossification in theory. We argue that this continuous disruption and rebuilding of forms of thought is necessary but often neglected in social research; often simply because suitable technology is unavailable. By developing work by DOWLING (1998, 2009, 2013), we then suggest one that is. This is demonstrated by contrasting a diagrammatic technology known for only breaking weakly with established categories—BECKER's classification of deviance—with a relational space that achieves the rational artifice required (one in fact more consistent with BECKER's own pragmatic project). The value of the artifice a relational space achieves is then illustrated in the empirical context of digital file-sharing.

Neste artigo, abordamos o problema do “silêncio epistemológico” de Gaston Bachelard (1884-1962) após 1953. Bachelard era um escritor prolífico: entre 1927 e 1953, concluiu 13 livros sobre epistemologia – cerca de um livro a cada 14 meses. Todavia, em certo momento deixou de publicar obras sobre o tema, embora tivesse continuado a escrever sobre a imaginação poética. Michel Vadée e Olival Freire notam o problema e indicam caminhos possíveis, mas deixam sua solução em aberto. Mais especificamente, Freire sugere que a questão pode estar relacionada a uma importante tomada de posição de Louis de Broglie, que, em 1952, rompe com a interpretação de Copenhagen (adotada por Bachelard), propondo uma teoria que admite uma solução não probabilista para a teoria quântica. Essa reviravolta por parte do mais importante físico francês pode ter abalado o espírito de Bachelard. Acreditamos ter encontrado, em um artigo de Bachelard publicado em 1957, elementos que permitem resolver a questão. [In this paper, we address the problem of Gaston Bachelard’s (1884-1962) “epistemological silence” after 1953. Bachelard was a prolific writer: between 1927 and 1953, he completed 13 books on epistemology ‒ about one book every 14 months. However, at one point he stopped publishing works on the subject, although he continued to write about the poetic imagination. Michel Vadée and Olival Freire note the problem and point out possible paths, but leave their solution open. More specifically, Freire suggests that the issue may be related to an important position taken by Louis de Broglie, who, in 1952, breaks with the Copenhagen interpretation (adopted by Bachelard), proposing a theory that admits a non-probabilistic solution for Quantum theory. This turnaround by the most important French physicist may have shaken Bachelard's spirit. We believe we have found, in an article by Bachelard published in 1957, elements that allow us to resolve the issue.]

Resumo Este artigo pretende avaliar o papel da imagem na história do atomismo e sua relação com a ideia da visualização do invisível da matéria, com enfoque nas perspectivas epistemológicas de Gaston Bachelard. As origens do atomismo estão ligadas à visão, mas é somente no final do século XVI que a iconografia atomística surge. No artigo, a autora procura evidenciar a tentação humana para o “reino das imagens”: (1) começando por explanar a importância da “metafísica da poeira” (segundo Bachelard, a poeira conferiu uma imagética fundadora à tese atomística); (2) fazendo notar que o termo “átomo” designou entidades diversas e ressaltando a importância conferida à geometria nas concepções atomísticas, tão presente ao longo da história do atomismo filosófico; (3) tecendo considerações sobre uma das primeiras imagens do átomo - Area Democriti, de Giordano Bruno; (4) colocando em destaque a problemática da imagem no atomismo contemporâneo e do seu radical abstracionismo; (5) explorando o paradoxo da utilidade das imagens a partir de várias obras bachelardianas; (6) mostrando que Bachelard não parece tomar a noção de imagem em sentido lato e que distinguir imagens de não-imagens é supor que ela tenha uma essência e classificação estável; e, por fim, (7) apontando para o fato de cada vez mais a filosofia da ciência tentar apurar qual a função que a iconografia pode ter na criação científica e na transmissão de conhecimento.

O artigo propõe estudar o papel que a doutrina dos elementos ou princípios materiais fundamentais da natureza, presente na filosofia pré-socrática, desempenha na estética de Gaston Bachelard; ao mesmo tempo, o texto busca assinalar de que maneira essa referência - que, na Antiguidade Clássica, traduzia entre os filósofos gregos uma concepção da physis, do mundo da experiência sensível -, não pôde por outro lado ser apropriada pela epistemologia bachelardiana, cuja elaboração se alimentou da revolução intelectual operada no campo científico entre o final do século XIX e o início do XX.

Der Beitrag unterzieht Gaston Bachelards Poetik des Raumes einer kritischen Lektüre hinsichtlich ihres humanistischen Essentialismus. Dabei werden zugleich die methodologischen Impulse einer ‚Topo-Analyse‘ hervorgehoben, welche poetische Ausdrucksformen in ihrem konstitutiven Bezug zu ‚Subjektivität-im-Raum‘ zur Geltung bringt. Bachelards Fokus auf ‚topophile‘ Verhältnisse von Subjekt und Raum wird anschließend, mit konzeptionellem Bezug auf Walter Benjamin und Donna Haraway, im Rahmen eines de-essentialisierten Ansatzes nachgegangen. Im Zusammenhang mit Skulpturen der Künstlerin Patricia Piccinini werden so Möglichkeiten ‚anderer Geborgenheiten‘ aufgezeigt.

The article is devoted to some specific 'area between' interpretative achievements of Freud, Jung and Bachelard. The imagination and myth problems are involved in more general perspective of philospophical conception of man in their works. Different models of human reason and imagination idealizing forces influenced procedures of an imaginal thinking and image itself interpretations. The basis of comparation is the unconscious (Freudian 'repressed unconscious', Jungian collective unconsciuos), complex and archetype conceptions as some kind of instruments to understand image formating process, phantasies, mythical and poetical image. An example of these differences is their interpretations of Promethean myth. A way of understand dream image, Anima and Animus archetypes refer to their specific theoretical frames.

FOUCAULTian governmentality research has turned out a very powerful tool for analyzing social processes and logics involved in recent appreciation of the entrepreneur as the role model for the conduct of states, organizations and private businesses. However, the lack of interest in further methodological elaboration of governmentality research has left it unclear how the particular theoretical perspective of governmentality researchers influences their empirical observations. The principal aim of this article is to overcome the methodological deficit in governmentality research and indicate one possible way of how the theoretical, methodological, and empirical levels of analysis could be interlinked in a consistent and scrutinizable manner. The suggestion presented for methodologization of governmentality research draws on the methodological insights gained in the French epistemological tradition by Gaston BACHELARD, Pierre BOURDIEU, Georges CANGUILHEM, Rainer DIAZ-BONE and Michel FOUCAULT. It is argued that the reflexive methodology and its key methodological principles of epistemological break and holistic methodology as they were developed in the French epistemological tradition provide a number of instructive insights on how to join the theoretical, methodological and empirical levels of analysis. However, this article goes beyond methodological discussion and applies the elaborated methodological instructions to a case study on the governmentalization of entrepreneur in Swedish governmental discourse. Two overlapping volumes extracted from the Handbook of interview research are seen as providing a considerable variety and depth of useful technical advice for qualitative researchers and a plethora of ideological warfare and confu­sion which helps nobody. Chapters on a range of types of more or less reluctant respondents and on phone and computer-aided interviewing (on and off the Web) are followed by chapters on tran­scription and on computer-aided (or not) qualitat­ive analysis and interpretation from a variety of positions. Questions of representation are addres­sed. The review argues that post-modernist and constructivist practice can be a useful tactic in a struggle for a more reflexive and subtle researched understanding, but (as a philosophy competing for dominance) they make up a counter-productive "American ideology" which is self-contradictory, and personally and politically unhelpful. Resumo Este ensaio propõe atuar com as forças artísticas de um currículo a partir dos trabalhos de Sophie Calle e Georges Perec. De modo a embaralhar arte e vida, ambos os autores se prestam a um movimento de reduções, de subtrações tendo por base um minimalismo brutal e uma simplicidade crua. Nessa medida, tomada por ideias oulipianas e, em meio ao pensamento de Bachelard, busca-se um currículo poeticamente inventariado, suspendendo as definições, as verdades, os julgamentos, os quadros de referência, as atitudes preformatadas. Trata-se de um exercício que deseja portar um falar de coisas comuns do cotidiano, do trivial e por vezes evidentes, mas que, no entanto, raramente recebem nossa atenção. Assim, mais do que qualquer outra coisa, pretende-se pensar em um currículo que se efetuaria no encontro com diferenças tornadas visíveis, produzidas por impressões sensíveis que se repetem singularmente a cada experiência.
