Introduction: Although DIEP (deep inferior epigastric perforator) is the gold standard for breast reconstruction, long-term results with a view to postoperative hairiness and flap skin colouration have rarely been described in the literature., Methods: Patients who underwent DIEP flap breast reconstruction followed by NAC reconstruction between 2010 and 2019 were invited to our clinic for a survey and a clinical examination. A total of 781 patients were invited. The survey included the BREAST-Q and a study-specific questionnaire. The clinical examination contained specific measurements regarding postoperative hairiness and skin colouration., Results: A total of 179 patients were examined, with 203 breasts having been reconstructed. Only breasts with a visible flap skin island were taken into further evaluation. A total of 109 DIEP flap and 77 NAC reconstructions were evaluated. In the patient-reported survey, 27.5% (30 of 109) reported additional flap hairiness and 62.4% (68 of 109) reported differences in flap skin colouration compared with the surrounding skin. The clinical examination revealed a significant difference between the skin colouration of the flap compared with the surrounding skin and the skin colouration of the reconstructed NAC compared with the existing original NAC. In both cases, the reconstructions appeared significantly "lighter" (p<0.05). No significant difference was found between patients with and without hair in terms of overall satisfaction evaluated by using the BREAST-Q. A 10-year-old female mixed breed dog was presented for thyroid scintigraphy due to a cervical mass. Apart from 99m-Technetium-pertechnetate (Tc-pertechnetate) scintigraphy, a second scintigraphy using 99m-Technetium sestamibi (Tc-MIBI) was performed because of additional hypothyroidism suspective for a "cold" nodule and as screening for metastases.Twenty minutes following intravenous injection of 38 MBq Tc-pertechnetate, a "hot" cervical as well as a "hot" intrathoracal nodule were seen with an uptake of 8.40 and 0.25 %, respectively. The second scintigraphy was performed 20 minutes after intravenous injection of 364 MBq Tc-MIBI and 70 minutes following the first. After subtraction of pertechnetate activity and decay correction, both nodules showed an uptake of 0.99 and 0.03 %. Additionally, both thyroid lobes were visible in the thyroid loge with a weak MIBI-uptake. For both lesions, the ratio Tc-uptake/Tc-MIBI-uptake was 8.48 and 8.33, respectively.Following the extirpation of the cervical mass, histopathology revealed atrophied healthy thyroid tissue almost completely displaced by a well-differentiated follicular thyroid carcinoma.This case report describes performance, utility and calculative correction of consecutive pertechnetate- and MIBI-scan, that enable a visualization of hypofunctional thyroid tissue.Therefore and because of their similar MIBI metabolic activity, both nodules were considered to be dystopic tissue/metastases so that this dog had to be classified as prognostically less favorable WHO stabe IV. Different from human patients, both scintigraphies should be performed shortly after another in dogs in order to avoid the necessity of a second anesthetic procedure. Background and Objective: During the first corona wave public life largely came to a standstill. Many employees started to work from home to protect themselves from infection. The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in sleep behavior and daytime sleepiness when people changed from working in the office to mobile working from home., Method: Office workers were asked about their chronotype, their usual sleep routine and the occurrence of daytime sleepiness on office workdays and during mobile working. Data collection took place between 15 July 2020 and 7 August 2020. An anonymized online survey tool was used. The composite scale of morningness (CSM) in the German language version was used to determine the chronotype. The association of age, gender, chronotype, sleep quality and sleep duration with self-rated daytime sleepiness was examined using multivariable logistic regression analyses., Results: The data of n  = 228 individuals could be analyzed. Sleep duration increased while working from home. The proportion of persons with less than 7.5 h time in bed decreased from 56.6% to 33.4% and the proportion of those with more than 8 h time in bed increased from 43.4% on office workdays to 66.6% when working from home. The percentage of people who always or often felt sleepy at work decreased from 47% on office workdays to 15% when working from home. The chronotype showed a significant association with daytime sleepiness on office workdays but not when working from home., Discussion: The reduction of daytime sleepiness could be explained by longer sleep duration and higher satisfaction with sleep quality. Late chronotypes seem to benefit particularly when working from home. A flexible start of work, the consideration of the chronotype and measures for health-promoting sleep could reduce daytime sleepiness and thus improve occupational safety and health., (© The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH 2022.)
