In the last few decades in South Africa, much emphasis has been placed on unhistorical, synchronistic interpretations of the text of the Old Testament. Very little effort has been made to look into the long historical development of the text from the sources to the present form. Sometimes the advocates of these synchronistic approaches even responded with hostility towards any approach that would, in their words, deny the authority of the text. Their search was for absolute truth, which they believed could be secured by their methods. The uncertainties of historical research were not attractive to them. In this article, we briefly look at Gerhard Von Rad's Traditionsgeschichte [History of Traditions] and Hans-Georg Gadamer's Wirkungsgeschichte [Reception History] and point out that mankind is rooted in history. We thus come to understanding through a process that is tied to our historical horisons. The analysis of effects from coupling within and between systems plays an important role in data-driven investigations as practiced in many scientific fields. It allows deeper insights into the mechanisms of interactions emerging between individual smaller systems when forming complex systems as in the human circulatory system. In this work, several existing coupling measures are briefly introduced and summarized. Updated cardiologic guidelines constitute the background for an extended spectrum of indications for the implantation of automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators (AICDs) and lead to an increasing number of operative implantations of AICDs. Moreover, during implantation of devices for cardiac resynchronization therapy the anesthesiologist is responsible for the most critically ill patients with the longest duration of surgery. As a result anesthesiologists face an increasing number of critically ill patients, whose management contributes to perioperative outcome. Automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillators can be implanted either during general anesthesia, local anesthesia or during a combination of local anesthesia combined with deep conscious sedation accomplished by an anesthesiologist. Besides economic aspects there is an increasing demand for anesthesia with the least cardiovascular side effects and rapid recovery in the often seriously ill patient with preexisting limitations of cardiac and pulmonary functions. Accordingly procedure and anesthesia-associated risks are reviewed and an algorithm for anesthesia management is suggested. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In modern measurement technology now very high sampling rates are required. The synchronization of the recorded signals have to be guaranteed for evaluation, to thereby make a statement about, for example, the phase position of two signals. Conventional this will be implemented by using a common trigger line. In many application scenarios is a wired synchronization of different measuring points impractical or impossible. To ensure a temporal lower bound within the meaning of the real time of a measurement, a combination of different wireless techniques are used. Real-time measurements generally require a well-defined trigger signal which triggers synchronously in different areas of a measurement. The postponement of the runtime of such a signal, this restriction for longer distances of the different measuring points can not be met. Thus it is necessary to compensate the propagation time differences using the location information of the sender and the receiver or to be taken into account in data analysis. The DCF77 and GPS technologies used are explained in the article. Furthermore a possible measurement setup and an implementation is presented.
