Abstract

The philosophical anthropology of Miki Kiyoshi (1897-1945) was controversial among Marxist intellectuals in Japan when his few explicitly Marxian works were published in the late 1920s. Followers of Soviet orthodoxy rejected his »Marxian anthropology« as heretical, while his novel interpretation of Marx attracted others. By 1930, while in prison, he was publicly condemned as a »petit bourgeois social democratic fellow-traveller« by his former colleagues and apparently distanced himself from Marxism in public. This article discusses the core ideas of Miki's 1928 Historical Materialism and Modern Consciousness in the context of the dominant, political economy-centred Marxist currents of the time, its reception and place in the development of Miki's thought. Miki's »Marxian anthropology« based itself on the early Marx to account for the emergence of subjective consciousness and the transformation processes of ideology in dialogue with the Kyoto School and non-Marxist, principally German, philosophy. Rather than contributing to an orthodox Marxist social science that claimed to have overcome philosophy, the orientation was towards philosophy and its reorientation towards Marx and social and political theory in general. Abstract

A 63-year old man suffering from bilateral leg pain was admitted to our hospital with an occlusion of the infrarenal abdominal aorta. A bifurcated dacron graft was implanted and a histological examination of the thrombotic material was performed. Atypical cells were detected in the thrombus leading to an investigation of the thoracic aorta showing an unclear mass in the aortic arch. The tumor was resected and the aorta replaced with a dacron graft. Histology revealed a primary sarcoma. The patient is doing well 6 months after operation.

Abstract

In the last 6 years we have treated 132 patients with varices of the lower extremities and operated on 65 of them. We came to the following conclusions: 1. Stripping of the saphenous vein with subfascial ligature of the incompetent venae communicantes is essential for the complete treatment of primary varicosity with or without ulcer. 2. Pelvic phlebography is necessary to exclude secondary varicosities in both bilateral and unilateral varices. 3. The removal of secondary varices has a definitely negative result if recanalisation is incomplete; i.e. they ought not to be extirpated if the outflow from the great saphenous vein is directed centrally on walking.

He connected other strategic projects with knowledge management and reported the results directly to the board. He will show how an organized project portfolio can help to reach the strategic goals.
