The present research deals with synthesis, characterization, and biological potential of Foeniculum vulgare mediated zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs). Extract of Foeniculum vulgare (a medicinal plant) was used to synthesize nanoparticles by reaction of extract with Zinc acetate (2M) solution. Synthesized ZnO Nps were characterized by various advance techniques such as FTIR, SEM, EXD, SEM and XRD. Debye-Scherrer equation (D = k / ß cos) was used to calculate mean diameter of synthesized Nps utilizing XRD technique. Formation of ZnO Nps was confirmed by SEM analysis of resultant white colored stable Nps of reaction. The size of synthesized Nps was determined by SE technique which was found to be 22.94 nm. Phytochemical analysis reveals high content of secondary metabolites in NPs as compare to crude extract. The plant was observed with high content of flavonoids followed by phenolic compounds and then alcoholic compound. Order of different phytochemical was found to be flavonoids > Phenolic compound > alcoholic compounds. Plant's crude extract and plant mediated ZnO Nps were analyzed for biological potential with refence of antibacterial and antioxidant analysis. DPPH and TRP test were performed for antioxidant potential which showed positive response while antibacterial potential was evaluated by well diffusion method. Significant antibacterial potential was observed against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacterial strain. However, plant mediated ZnO NPs were not observed with potential to kill population of Listeria monocytogenes bacterial specie. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This film demonstrates the technique of replacement of the entire ossicular chain with an L-shaped homo-incus in cases where this is missing due to chronic otitis media (cholesteatoma). In each case the radical mastoid cavity is converted into an extended simple mastoid by reconstruction the posterior meatal bony wall with allo, cartilage (preserved septal or rips) preventing the formation of niches. The grafting method differed according to spatial condition of the bridge as well as the condition of the tegmen aditus. This is a modification of previous attempts. Introduction: Since the beginning of the pandemic in spring 2020, inpatient healthcare has been under enormous burden, which is reflected especially in overworked staff, imprecise bed planning and/or data transfer. According to the recommendation of the Science Council, university clinics should play a controlling role in regional healthcare and act in conjunction with surrounding hospitals and practices., Methods: In September 2021, 31 representatives from 18 university hospitals were invited to a hybrid Delphi study with a total of 4 survey rounds to discuss criteria for effective inpatient care in a pandemic situation, which were extracted from previous expert interviews. Criteria that were classified as very important/relevant by≥75% of the participants in the first round of the survey (consensus definition) were then further summarized in 4 different small groups. In a third Delphi round, all participants came together again to discuss the results of the small group discussions. Subsequently, these were prioritized as Optional ("can"), Desirable ("should") or Necessary ("must") recommendations., Results: Of the invited clinical experts, 21 (67.7%) participated in at least one Delphi round. In an online survey (1st Delphi round), 233 criteria were agreed upon and reduced to 84 criteria for future pandemic management in four thematic small group discussions (2nd Delphi round) and divided into the small groups as follows: "Crisis Management and Crisis Plans" (n=20), "Human Resources Management and Internal Communication" (n=16), "Regional Integration and External Communication" (n=24) and "Capacity Management and Case & Care" (n=24). In the following group discussion (3rd Delphi round), the criteria were further modified and agreed upon by the experts, so that in the end result, there were 23 essential requirements and recommendations for effective inpatient care in a pandemic situation., Conclusion: The results draw attention to key demands of clinical representatives, for example, comprehensive digitization, standardization of processes and better (supra) regional networking in order to be able to guarantee needs-based care even under pandemic conditions. Results of follow-up examinations of 132 ears with serous or mucous middle ear effusions indicate that this disease is common in childhood and is also found in adults. In childhood adenoid growth as well as repeated catarrhal infection of the paranasal sinuses and the weakness of the levator palati play an important role in the development of middle ear effusions and deafness. With the aid of the operation microscope we were able to recognize this characteristic disease through the tympanic membrane. We perform regularly adenoidectomy together with paracentesis in this condition. In cases which had undergon several adenoidectomies we limit our treatment in the first instance to paracentesis. If cure is not so achieved we insert an inert tube into the tympanic membrane after the paracentesis. In persistent and difficult cases of glue ear radiation of the eustachion tube and antrotomy may be necessary.

To summarise our morphological findings of this study the following conclusions are drawn: In bone grafts growth of vital cells originating from the Haversian canals is clearly demonstrated. The growth of connective tissue in the Haversian system is understandable on general principles of pathology. The morphology of the change of osteocytes from fibrocytes through osteoblasts is photographically clearly shown and is in keeping with the findings of Steinbach and of Kerr and Smyth. New bone formation was detected at earliest nine months after implantation. Our investigations do not confirm whether this new bone formation occurs persistently in all cases or to what extent the original homograft material, preserves in cialit solution, takes part in this process. A similar mechanism of tissue regrowth should be accepted in homograft cartilage. We have studied two cases, one after 6 months and the other after 5 years following implant. The three fascial grafts examined compare with earlier publications, with oedema, slight inflammation and little shrinkage occurring. The suitability for grafting of homograft incus, cartilage and fascia we believe to have been demonstrated.

This paper is a comparative study of the early and late functional results of tympanoplastic operations, as modified by Khan. Following such surgery, we examined 494 patients who had been operated on between 1970--1972 in the ENT Clinic of the Free University of Berlin (Klinikum Westend). Preliminary and final hearing results were recorded with the aid of sound audiograms, which were critically assessed by two different types of evaluations. These included the results of pure-tone changes and speech reception thresholds as achieved by the tympanoplastic operations. On the basis of socially useful hearing improvements, the functional results of cases operated in our clinic are above average. The hearing gain shown from post-operative controls to the final studies is especially satisfactory, since this also includes an improvement in bone conduction.
