Background: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly finding its way into routine radiological work., Objective: Presentation of the current advances and applications of AI along the entire radiological patient journey., Methods: Systematic literature review of established AI techniques and current research projects, with reference to consensus recommendations., Results: The applications of AI in radiology cover a wide range, starting with AI-supported scheduling and indications assessment, extending to AI-enhanced image acquisition and reconstruction techniques that have the potential to reduce radiation doses in computed tomography (CT) or acquisition times in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), while maintaining comparable image quality. These include computer-aided detection and diagnosis, such as fracture recognition or nodule detection. Additionally, methods such as worklist prioritization and structured reporting facilitated by large language models enable a rethinking of the reporting process. The use of AI promises to increase the efficiency of all steps of the radiology workflow and an improved diagnostic accuracy. To achieve this, seamless integration into technical workflows and proven evidence of AI systems are necessary., Conclusion: Applications of AI have the potential to profoundly influence the role of radiologists in the future., (© 2024. Background: Multimorbidity, increasing numbers of chronically ill patients and demographic change are leading to increased care costs in Germany with an increasing shortage of staff in skilled nursing and geriatric care. In this context, more and more caregivers with a migration background of the 1st generation (PmMH) are being recruited and integrated into existing (corporate) cultures. This represents an important starting point for a permanent and needs-based supply landscape., The Aim of the Study: The aim of the study was to identify and analyze the specific stresses of PmMH at the workplace in nursing and geriatric care MATERIAL AND METHODS: A systematic literature search was carried out in relevant specialist databases (Pubmed, PsychInfo, Web of Science, Cochrane), supplemented by an extended snowball and hand search. This was followed by a descriptive presentation of the results of the study content, which in a subsequent step was iteratively brought together and consolidated into thematic categories by several people., Results: A total of 15 publications were identified as relevant and included in the analysis. Specific, migration-associated stress factors could be identified. In particular, the categories: "Discrimination and racism", "Language and communication problems" and "Cultural adjustment" characterized the (collaborative) work in nursing and care for the elderly and led to additional stress for employees and patients., Discussion: The present review article identified and summarized specific burdens of PmMH. At this point it can be assumed that these affect both PmMH and patients. So far, operational concepts do not seem to be able to adequately solve the challenges, so that effective, sustainable approaches have to be found. A known problem in endoscopic surgery (especially with flexible video endoscopes) is the absence of a stable horizon in endoscopic images displayed on a monitor. With our "ENDOrientation" approach, image rectification, even in non-rigid endoscopic surgery (particularly NOTES), can be realized with a tiny MEMS tri-axial inertial sensor placed on the tip of an endoscope. This sensor measures the impact of gravity on each of the three orthogonal accelerometer axes in real time. After an initial calibration and temporal filtering of these three data steams, the rotation angle of an endoscope can be estimated directly. The achievable sampling rate of the inertial sensor is above the usual endoscopic video frame rate of 25 Hz; the rotation accuracy is approximately one degree. The image rectification can be performed in real time by digitally rotating the endoscopic video signal. Improvements and benefits have been evaluated in animal studies: coordination and movement of different instruments was rated to be much more intuitive with a stable horizon on endoscopic images. The recorded time stamps and position tracks clearly support this observation.

It is well accepted that coronary artery disease is linked to an inflammatory process. It is unproven however whether either infectious agents may cause or accelerate coronary artery disease or the inflammatory process is due to metabolic or toxic effects. Among the possible infectious agents Chlamydia pneumoniae is the most likely bacterium involved in atherosclerosis. The arguments in favour of Chlamydia pneumoniae originate from seroepidemiologic studies and from detection and isolation of bacteria from vascular lesions. This review summarises the present understanding of the role of bacterial infection for development or progression of coronary artery disease.

In the period of March 1988-March 1989, in 20 Lower Austrian sheep breeding farms blood samples were taken in two-month intervals from sheep of the following breeds: 130 Tyrolean Mountain sheep, 59 German Improved Land breed, 59 East Friesian and 57 German Blackheaded Mutton breed sheep. The following standards for sheep were evaluated: Erythrocytes 7,2-11,9 T/L, haematocrit 0,25-0,41 1/L, haemoglobin 82-147 g/L, lymphocytes 34-80%, segmented neutrophils 10-53%, band neutrophils 1-3%, eosinophilic granulocytes 0-24%, basophilic granulocytes 0-1%, monocytes 0-1%, calcium 1,8-2,8 mmol/L, phosphorus 1,0-2,6 mmol/L, magnesium 0,6-1,3 mmol/L, total protein 53-81 g/L, albumin 22-41 g/L, aspartate aminotransferase 27-81 U/L, alanine aminotransferase 3-25 U/L, gamma glutamic transaminase 24-59 U/L, alkaline phosphatase 44-355 U/L, creatine kinase 3-130 U/L, glutamic dehydrogenase 2,0-36,5 U/L, total bilirubin 0,7-5,1 mumol/L, cholesterol 1,1-3,2 mmol/l, urea nitrogen 1,3-12,7 mmol/l, creatinine 50-112 mumol/L. Apart from that, additional standards for the mentioned breeds of sheep were evaluated, revealing significant differences. Also the age and the time of the year proved to have an influence upon the ascertained blood values.
