This article asks for the merits of historical comparison concerning the current war in the Ukraine. In fact, caution is required when looking for analogies in history. It is not very helpful to stick to similarities on the surface of matters. It is doubtful whether the Putin-Regime ever intended to wage a "Blitzkrieg" against the Ukraine. Comparisons with alleged "Blitzkriege" in history are unconvincing. The Soviet war against Finland in winter 1940 was very different in character from the present war. The extreme brutality of Putin's war has always been a structural problem in Russian-Soviet military history. However, comparison is possible and necessary between developments in Russia since 1991 und Germany history from 1918 to 1945. In both cases, one finds revisionism and the ideologically motivated quest for world power. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article traces the career of the West German jurist Manfred Roeder, who went from evangelicalism and resistance to left-wing Protestantism to become a central conservative-nationalistic actor against "perversion" and the "porn wave" in 1970. In his militant activism he rapidly left the Christian frame of reference; his path led him to antisemitism, historical revisionism, and right-wing terrorism. The study ofRoeder can serve as a probe into the social processes of negotiation for the liberalization of sexuality and thus fundamentally for the moral-ethical sovereignty of interpretation of the time, while also shedding light on the radicalization of conservative and rightwing Christian groups in reaction to the developments of 1968 / 69. The article focuses on the resurgence of anti-Semitism in Croatia during the early 1990s. It discusses the normalization of anti-Semitic narratives intertwined with nationalist radicalization, revisionism, denial of the Holocaust, and the belief in a global Jewish conspiracy. It mentions Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) led by Franjo Tuđman played a significant role in affirming these positions, normalizing the NDH (Independent State of Croatia), and promoting revisionist tendencies, which gradually led to the acceptance of anti-Semitic rhetoric within Croatian society and political circles.

RUSSIA-Ukraine Conflict, 2014- , *COMMAND of troops , *HISTORICAL revisionism , *GOVERNMENT aid , *SOVEREIGNTY ,GERMAN military - Abstract
The article "Czech Republic and the War against Ukraine" describes the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its impact on the relationship between the Czech Republic and Russia. The author emphasizes that Russia has violated international norms with its actions and that Putin is willing to cross almost any civilizational boundary. The claim that the West promised in 1990 that NATO would not expand to the East is seen as strange from the Czech perspective. The relationship between the Czech Republic and Russia has deteriorated due to Russian historical revisionism and the rehabilitation of Stalin. The political relations between the two countries are described, with some Czech politicians expressing sympathy for Putin. However, economic relations have halved since the annexation of Crimea. The Czech government now supports Ukraine and seeks dialogue with Russia, while the population sees Russia as guilty. The Czech Republic rejects a German military leadership role and calls on Germany to provide heavy weapons to Ukraine to defend its sovereignty. [Extracted from the article]

RUSSIAN invasion of Ukraine, 2022- , *NATIONAL security , *INTERNATIONAL security , *INTERNATIONAL organization , *INTERNATIONAL relations , *HISTORICAL revisionism - Abstract
German foreign policy is facing a turning point as many basic assumptions and constants of German foreign action have shifted. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has broken the principle of the immutability of borders and triggered a new arms race. The European security architecture is being discussed, while Russia and China are seen as motivated by revisionism. The shifting framework of foreign policy requires a re-conceptualization of German foreign policy, as Germany's vulnerability in terms of trade and supply has become evident. The maxim of supply security and competition for strategic resources will also change relationships outside of Europe. However, there have been no conceptual statements from the foreign policy apparatus yet. The article deals with Germany's national security strategy and the challenges that arise from it. It is pointed out that the strategy will likely be closely focused on military and defense policy aspects. There are concerns that geopolitical motives and securitization of foreign action could influence decisions. The tensions between a values-based foreign policy and securing the supply of resources are also highlighted. The authors argue that Germany needs to expand its foreign relations and tap into new power resources in order to meet the challenges of a changing international order. [Extracted from the article]

It mentions similar ideology of militant nationalism that was combined with anti-Bolshevism and often very strong antisemitism and Hungarian revisionism did not disappear, but the area of Sopron did not have as great a symbolic importance as Transylvania. It also mentions social background of the participating soldiers, the methods of their recruitment and their political programme.

HISTORICAL revisionism ,TOTALITARIANISM ,POLITICIANS ,HISTORIOGRAPHY ,SOCIAL structure - Abstract
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of 1917 many works have been republished, but new research is rare. The once fierce quarrel between totalitarianists and revisionists has dispersed and was replaced by a new consensual, all integrating narrative, including events, politicians, social structures and culture. Nobody questions any more that the "Great October" was a coup and not a revolution. A new trend in historiography is focusing on details, contingent events and contradictions, thus denying long believed causalities. So the social, political and economic situation is explained as background, but it was the war which caused the revolution. Convincing is Merridales history of space "Lenin's Train" and overwhelming to read is Slezkines apocalyptic saga of "The House of Government". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

STALINISM ,HISTORICAL revisionism ,TOTALITARIANISM ,SUBALTERN - Abstract
In the autumn of 1986 Sheila Fitzpatrick sought to bring about a double paradigm shift in academic research on Stalinism. The social sciences were supposed to be succeeded by history, while the concept of totalitarianism was to be replaced by a social historical approach that claimed to understand Stalinism 'from below'. Instead of focusing on ideology, repression, and the state, Fitzpatrick inquired into the actual society, its subaltern strata and upward mobility, describing her agenda as 'revisionism'. Her essay New Perspectives on Stalinism in The Russian Review caused an ill-fated and highly emotional debate which became known as the controversy over revisionism. Historians of Stalinist politics, above all Peter Kenez, responded to Fitzpatrick by stressing how important it is to understand the Stalinist terror that came 'from above' for anyone wishing fully to comprehend the Soviet Union of the 1930s. This article aims to historicize the controversy over revisionism, its origins and outcomes in order to systematize assumptions, questions and arguments about the research on Stalinism which culminated in and emerged from the dispute. Since the adoption of multiculturalism in the 1990s in Latin America, new intercultural policies and institutions for people considered as indigenous have been implemented. However, this phenomenon was possible through reconfigurations of political meanings of the past, in the field of contemporary issues of indigeneity, that now justify forms of governance of cultural diversity. Returning to the Mexican context and its frame in continental history, we will examine historiographical and political implications of these recent re-readings of the past. We will approach this issue by analyzing the tensions between historical revisionism of the indigenous movements of the 1990s and the formation of new modalities of official history favored by the emergence of an intercultural State policy which now operates in several levels. We will see the conflicting relations between the reappropriation of the past as a strategy of ethnic claims against its recovery as national heritage and ground of public policy and depoliticization mechanism of indigenous identities.

ARMS race , *WAR , *HISTORICAL revisionism , *GEOPOLITICS , *AMBASSADORS , *HUNGER - Abstract
In the book "Turning Point: Putin's War and its Consequences," former German ambassador to Moscow, Rüdiger von Fritsch, analyzes the Russian aggression against Ukraine and its effects. Von Fritsch describes Putin as a prisoner of the authoritarian system that he himself promoted and emphasizes the significance of Putin's biographical imprint. The book outlines four possible scenarios for the outcome of the conflict and describes Putin's neo-imperialism, historical revisionism, and the perceived threat from NATO. It also discusses the impact of the conflict on hunger, migration, arms race, and the geopolitical situation. The book offers a blend of personal perspective and sober analysis, advocating for optimism in difficult times. [Extracted from the article]

HISTORICAL revisionism ,EUROPEAN national character ,NATIONAL character ,NATIONALISM ,20TH century European history - Abstract
Another challenge for contemporary historians consists of widening the German perspective to the European context without becoming an apologist for the EU. This essay departs from the assertion that at present the Europeans possess only a rudimentary consciousness of a common past. Most contemporary historians still seem to do their research within a national framework, although many of their questions actually transcend it. This historical amnesia of the European dimension has is largely a result of the lack of a shared understanding of the twentieth century within which research results could be placed. As an alternative to an acclamatory history of integration, culminating in the Brussels institution, a critical perspective is necessary which takes seriously the immense suffering of wars, revolutions, and racial murder. The European memory deficit will only be overcome by the pluralization of narratives that makes space for different memories and acknowledges the mutually inflicted pain as a basis for a dedication to a better future. The article discusses connections between the welfare state and globalization. The authors discuss the globalization theory, which suggests that globalization has caused problems in the welfare state, while globalization sceptics contend that the welfare state crisis is not caused by globalization. Globalization revisionism suggests that globalization is caused by problems in the welfare state rather than the reverse. The authors discuss the emergence of globalization as a worldwide economic concern following the Cold War. The development of the three theories is discussed.

This paper explores the phenomenon of revisionism in historiography, while focusing in particular on illegitimate revisionism and negationism. It is indisputably true that historiography must be subject to constant revisions. Like all scientific theories, it needs to be characterized by a sort of “conservative” openness towards new ideas; however, revisions and negations are often put forward without scientific grounding. They reject the well-established historiographical methods, while opening themselves to various kinds of ideologies, biases and manipulations. The paper further offers a synthesized overview of the revisionist practice in dominant parts of the society and historiography in post-communist Serbia. The change in the ideological paradigm that occurred in the 1980s was accompanied by a politically motivated reinterpretation of the past, which primarily focused on World War II in Yugoslavia. In Serbia in the 1990s, Tito’s Partisans were no longer celebrated as national heroes and fighters against fascism; they were replaced by the royalist and nationalist Chetniks led by Draža Mihailović, whose collaboration with the occupying forces was purposefully glossed over. The nationalist interpretation of history and the new revisionist politics in Serbia were supported by the state and the activities of its three branches: legislative, executive and judicial. In spite of the political changes that took place in Serbia in 2000, the dominant nationalist matrix in historical interpretations and revisionist politics remained unchanged. Nacionalističko tumačenje istorije i nova revizionistička politika u Srbiji uživala je podršku države kroz delatnost sve tri grane vlasti: zakonodavne, izvršne i sud-ske. Uprkos političkim promenama u Srbiji 2000. dominantna nacionalistička matrica u istorijskim interpretacijama i politici revizionizma, nije promenjena.
