Im Sammelband "Zum Verhältnis von Empirie und kultursoziologischer Theoriebildung" werden diverse Auseinandersetzungen über eine systematische Verknüpfung der beiden Bereiche präsentiert. Deren bisheriges Verhältnis, so die Ausgangslage, sei insbesondere in der deutschsprachigen Kultursoziologie durch eine Spannung gekennzeichnet. Im vorliegenden Review Essay werden die im Sammelband sowohl in Form von programmatischen Positionen als auch in Forschungsbeispielen präsentierten Lösungsvorschläge mit zwei Perspektiven diskutiert: Auf der einen Seite werden die Beiträge versammelt, die eine bestimmte Vorstellung von Kultursoziologie festschreiben und daraus Konsequenzen ableiten für das Verhältnis von Empirie und Theoriebildung. Auf der anderen Seite werden die Positionen und empirischen Beispiele gemeinsam besprochen, die von einer konkreten Methodologie ausgehen und daraus eine Idee von Kultursoziologe ableiten. Über diese doppelte Betrachtungsweise wird sowohl das Spannungsverhältnis aufgeschlüsselt als auch der allgemeine Stand einer deutschen Kultursoziologie in den Fokus gerückt. Die an dem Band beteiligten Autor*innen verdeutlichen nämlich, dass mehr und mehr die älteren Trennlinien des Fachs ihre Relevanz verlieren. Dies kann allerdings noch nicht gleichgesetzt werden mit dem Verschwinden des Spannungsverhältnisses zwischen Empirie und Theorie. Die vorgebrachten Lösungsvorschläge bleiben selbst in forschungspraktischen Beispielen noch zu programmatisch. Zu wünschen gewesen wären klarere Anleitungen, aus denen sich ein wirkliches Wechselverhältnis zwischen Theorie und Empirie ableiten ließe.

In many parts of South Africa, mission work is being done in communities living in desperate poverty. There is a great need for integral mission, bringing word and deed together in the proclamation of the gospel to equip Christians to have hope and engage in the fullness of community life to become responsible Christian stewards in the midst of a broken world. This article evaluates a relatively successful poverty alleviation project as an example of an integral mission project that the researcher initiated in 2016 in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In order to analyse the context, measure, manage and share the progress of the project, an app called ‘The Impact app’ was developed and used to collect data. The empirical research in this article comes from data collected over a period of four years primarily from this app and other sources. The main system structure that the researcher used for this integral project is called ‘Franchising as Mission’. It takes the best attributes of primary and secondary coops yet, enables governance and a fair share in the value chain. Poverty alleviation and gospel proclamation have been integrated in the whole project. Therefore, this entire project was regarded as Evangelical Christian Integral Mission as described in the Lausanne Covenant and elaborated on by Melba Padilla Maggay. It is these three core attributes that have led to a 92% higher uptake to that envisaged (Figure 14). This article hopes to point out what integral mission looks like in practice.

Electronic devices and displays require electronic grade chemicals for their manufacturing process. As miniaturisation in the electronics industry has pushed the boundaries of physics, no contamination can be tolerated in the production of microchips or display panels. Electronic grade chemicals need to be of highest purity and quality consistency. After giving an introduction to the quality requirements in the electronics industry, this article describes the path from laboratory synthesis to a capable production process of a small volume electronic specialty material in a multipurpose plant. The upscaling of an electronic chemical for electronic device manufacturing is one of the examples of how products with high quality requirements can be successfully produced in an existing production infrastructure.

En 2010 y 2011, el área del sondeo en el cual niveles solutrenses habían sido expuestos en la Cueva del Mirón fué duplicada. Estos depósitos, en contraste marcado con los niveles del Magdaleniense Inicial e Inferior superyacentes (que yacen casi horizontalmente y que son extraordinariamente ricos en materia orgánica y toda clase de residuos culturalesartefactos de todo tipo, estructuras y restos de faunaindicativos de importantes ocupaciones residenciales repetidas y multifuncionales de la cueva), siguen la pendiente de 15 grados de la cara erosiva del relleno aluvial del interior de la cueva y son culturalmente bastante pobres. Los niveles solutrenses están datados por el radiocarbono entre 19,230 y 18,390 BP (sin calibrar), aunque el nivel más alto (121) es ambíguo debido a la ausencia de puntas solutrenses al menos en la pequeña área (ahora 4 m2) que ha sido excavada. Los otros niveles solutrenses (122-127) son particularmente ricos en fragmentos de puntas foliadas y de muesca de diversos tipos (incluyendo a las de base cóncava) y deshecho lítico, pero con relativamente pocos otros utensilios retocados, lo cual sugiere unas expediciones de caza en el interior montañoso del Este de Cantabria en parte en momentos de amelioración climática durante el Ultimo Máximo Glacial (sensu lato justo después del Evento Heinrich 2, durante o poco después del Interestadio Greenland 2), cuando, sin embargo, los glaciares todavía recubrían las laderas superiores de la vecina Cordillera. Otros indicios de la caza incluyen a unas azagayas de asta, algunas de las cuales tienen formas y decoraciones grabadas típicas del Solutrense cantábrico. Por otro lado estos niveles son extraordinariamente ricos en conchas marinas (de diversas especies), muchas de las cuales están perforadas. Estas están acompañadas por otros objetos perforados (caninos de ciervo, huesos y piedras tallados en forma de caninos), asi confimando el patrón revelado en el sondeo excavado en 1998 y 2000. Los restos de fauna están presentes, pero no son abundantes, lo cual podria sugerir o que los reses fueron descuartizados y depositados en otra(s) parte(s) de la cueva o llevados a otros sitios para su consumo, tal vez en la parte baja y así más habitable del valle del Río Asón.

Objective: The Freiburg monosyllabic test (FBE) has been an important German speech audiometry test for years. It is nowadays also used to assess the benefit of hearing aids in noise (FBE-S). This study investigates hearing in noise using the FBE at different sound pressure levels and a signal to noise ratio of 5 dB to generate a recognition curve., Methods: In autumn 2018, 60 normal-hearing German native speakers (age 18-31 years) participated in the study at the military hospital in Hamburg. Using one FBE test list, speech intelligibility was measured from sound pressure levels of 15 to 90 dB in 5‑dB steps with a noise level 5 dB lower in each case. Subsequently, the average of all intelligibility rates and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were determined., Results: Participants comprised 29 female and 31 male subjects. Average age was 24.32 years (±3.29 years). The fixed effects analysis of variance with recognition as the dependent variable demonstrated a highly significant correlation between the levels of sounds/noise and the intelligibility of speech (p < 0.0001). The average intelligibility rates with 95% CI and the frequency distributions were presented tabularly and graphically., Conclusion: In comparison to the normative curve, the FBE‑S recognition curve is shifted to the right. The average values of the FBE‑S reach the saturation area at a volume of 70/65 dB with an intelligibility rate of 90% (for comparison: the point of saturation for 100% intelligibility of the FBE without noise is reached at 55 dB). Using these averaged values of the FBE‑S enables better interpretation of individual results without and with hearing aids. In the future, the benefit of hearing aids should be measured at lower noise levels than it is today.
