Since the early ages humans preferred to settle at places with warm climate and clean water supplies. Therefore, both economically and nutritionally, fisheries had a significant impact on human lives. As an island, fisheries have an important role on the civilizations founded on Cyprus Island. Fisheries have also been a significant portion of financial proceedings for Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), which is one of the two countries established on the Cyprus Island (9.251 km²) that is located at the eastern part of the Mediterranean Basin and is the biggest island of this region. The resources of countries that are founded on islands are typically limited, therefore for the most efficient usage of the existing resources fisheries are coming forward as an economic activity in TRNC. Additionally, wars and political disagreements in the history caused difficulties in fisheries as well as many other sectors. In this study we examined the fisheries of TRNC, which borders the half of the coastal region (50.6%) of the island, since its establishment and we proposed possible resolutions for existing problems. We collected data from the officials and individuals that are working in fisheries in order to address the issues of this sector and to understand the current situation of fisheries. Unfortunately, our literature surveys revealed a huge lack of scientific studies on this sector. For better understanding of the current sea food potential and its production; we compared our data with South Cyprus. We are encouraged by the lack of a comprehensive study on the fisheries of the TRNC and we hope that our study will help us on the improvements and policies of the fisheries in our country.

Hops (Humulus lupulus L.) is a perennial industry plant which the female flowers (cones) are used in beer, drug and cosmetics industry. Although its originated country is unknown, it is being farmed in the different regions of the world. Since 1965, it has been grown in Bilecik, Turkey. Although, the total production in Bilecik is far behind to fulfil the increasing demand of today, it is the top place at productivity in the world. Once the producers are subsidised the number of producers and production areas will increase so there would be no need to import the plant. In this study the geographical bases, production statement and trading of hops cultivation, which is a joy plant in agricultural geography and has a special place in Turkey’s agriculture life, was discussed and suggestions have been given about the aforesaid activity.

Today, malnutrition that is caused by the rapidly increasing global population became one of the problems worldwide. Additionally, serious health problems that are caused by GMOs are the great concerns of the countries. Therefore, researchers from different fields are trying to find a variety solutions to this problem. Thus, greenhouse cultivation holds importance as an alternative agricultural method. In fact, historically greenhouse cultivation goes up until Roman Empire, and it has been developed in recent years. Greenhouse cultivation had started as an avocation or a leisure activity of only rich people. However, it expanded to a broader range of population to enable farming of some fruits and vegetables at their unnatural habitats or seasons. In this study, alterations of these processes since the day of establishment were analyzed. Greenhouse cultivation in T.R.N.C. in the content of agricultural geography has been evaluated because of its convenient conditions due to its duration of sunlight achievement and localization.
