The Dutch integration policy is regarded a failure by many, because the social mobility and adaptation of migrants is assumed to stagnate. Nowadays, Moroccans are by far the most stigmatised group in the Netherlands, mainly due to the over representation of Moroccan youth in crime statistics. In this article, processes of integration among Moroccans are examined by reviewing the available data on their educational and labour market position, individualisation, emancipation and social interactions. The general conclusion is that diversity has considerably increased. The public image is more stagnant than reality justifies, unduly focusing on integration problems of the first generation Moroccans and disregarding important trends among the younger generations.
