Seit Jahrhunderten finden durch Migration und Flucht weltweit Veränderungen statt, auch in Europa und in Österreich. Mit den Veränderungen ergeben sich auch Herausforderungen, die besonders den Bildungssektor betreffen. Durch die Präsenz von durch Flucht und Krieg traumatisierten Kindern und Jugendlichen in Österreichs Schulen werden Klassen heterogener und Lehrpersonen sehen sich mit neuen Herausforderungen konfrontiert. Diese Masterarbeit geht der Frage nach, inwiefern Sekundarstufen-Lehrpersonen in Österreich ihren Schulstandort zu einem sicheren Ort für Kinder und Jugendliche mit Fluchterfahrung machen können. Weiters versucht die Masterarbeit Vorschläge zu geben, wie die Themen Krieg und Flucht im Geschichtsunterricht traumasensibel eingebaut werden können. Mithilfe von Literatur und einer empirischen Studie mit Geschichtslehrpersonen an österreichischen Sekundarschulen konnten diese Fragen beantwortet werden. Die Ergebnisse der Recherche sowie der empirischen Daten zeigen, dass Lehrer:innen mit zahlreichen Herausforderungen im Schulalltag in Bezug auf Krieg und Flucht konfrontiert sind und in ihrer Ausbildung nicht adäquat auf diese vorbereitet wurden. Dennoch konnten in der Arbeit einige Handlungsansätze geboten werden, anhand derer die Schule zu einem sicheren Ort für Kinder und Jugendliche mit Fluchterfahrung werden kann. Auch war es möglich, einige Implikationen für die Praxis abzuleiten und wichtige Hinweise für das Unterrichten der Themen Krieg und Flucht im Geschichtsunterricht zu geben., Since the beginning of mankind, migration and refugee movements have shaped our societies. While many people fled Austria during World War II, Austria has now become one of many European countries to provide refuge to people in need. Especially since the latest developments in Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and the Ukraine and the many people who have, as a result, sought refuge in Austria, we must ask ourselves in how far our society needs to change to facilitate successful integration. The new challenges which arise due to war-caused migration become particularly evident in the Austrian educational sector. As traumatized children and teenagers are now incorporated into the Austrian school system, the pre-existing scarcity of resources is unveiled. Teachers are presently faced with many challenges regarding the work in heterogenous classrooms and feel overwhelmed with the new problems they encounter daily. Therefore, this master thesis aims at answering the question in how far teachers teaching at Austrian secondary schools can transform their schools into safe spaces for children and teenagers who have experienced war and flight. Moreover, the master thesis tries to introduce approaches on how to incorporate the topic of war into history lessons and tries to connect these to the concept of trauma pedagogy. To answer these research questions, thorough literature research was done and an online survey among Austrian history teachers in secondary schools was conducted. The empirical data collected for this master thesis showed that teachers face numerous challenges in their daily school life regarding traumatized children and teenagers, and that the teacher training at universities and teachers’ colleges has not adequately prepared them for these challenges. However, it was found that there are various methods teachers can use to tackle difficult situations related to traumatized students in schools and to create safe spaces for the students. Furthermore, a few practical implications for teaching about war and flight in history classes could be derived from the theoretical elaborations on the topic.

Von Kartoffelschalen bis Blut: Bei der Lebensmittelproduktion fallen meist große Abfallmengen an, die nur bedingt weitergenutzt werden und die durch die damit verbundenen Reinigungsprozesse zu einem hohen Abwasseraufkommen führen. Im EU-Projekt 'BioSuck' entwickelt Fraunhofer UMSICHT gemeinsam mit einer internationalen Arbeitsgruppe neue Wege für das Abwasser- und Abfallmanagement in der Lebensmittelindustrie.

Der Markt der Medizinprodukte ist ein ständig wachsender. Die Anforderungen und Vorschriften an die Herstellung, Prüfung, Inverkehrbringung und Überwachung sind dementsprechend mit den Jahren auch immer strenger und genauer geworden. Obwohl sich alle EU Mitgliedsstaaten an die übergeordneten Richtlinien der europäischen Kommission halten müssen, findet man zwischen den einzelnen Staaten Differenzen auf dem Weg zur Erreichung dieser übergeordneten Ziele. Wie alle EU Richtlinien geben auch die für diese Diplomarbeit relevanten Richtlinien, 93/42/EWG für Medizinprodukte und 98/79/EG für In vitro-Diagnostika, lediglich das verbindlich zu erreichende Ziel vor. Der Weg zur Erreichung dieses Zieles bleibt aber, bis zu einem gewissen Grad, ein Graubereich und lässt den einzelnen Nationen Spielraum für die Umsetzung in ihren nationalen Gesetzen. In Deutschland und Österreich ist diese Umsetzung im jeweiligen Medizinproduktgesetz geregelt. Und obwohl Österreich und Deutschland das gleiche Ziel erreichen müssen, die gleiche Amtssprache haben und einen vergleichbar guten sozialen Standard sowie Lebensstandard haben, gibt es zwischen diesen beiden Ländern im Bereich klinischer Prüfungen mit Medizinprodukten beziehungsweise Leistungsbewertungsprüfungen mit In-vitro-Diagnostika mehrere Unterschiede, welche dem einen oder dem anderen Land eventuelle Vorteile verschaffen. Um zu verstehen welche Vor- beziehungsweise Nachteile sich aus welchem Grund für Österreich oder Deutschland ergeben, wird im Zuge dieser Diplomarbeit die Rechtslage klinischer Prüfungen, beziehungsweise Leistungsbewertungsprüfungen mit Medizinprodukten in Österreich und Deutschland verglichen. The market for medical devices is steadily growing. Therefore the requirements and regulations regarding production, testing, placing on the market and monitoring became stricter and more precise over the past few years. Although all member states of the EU are underlying the superior guidelines of the European Commission certain differences in the way how the states are aiming to fulfil these mandatory goals set in these superior guidelines can be found. EU guidelines only determine the mandatory goal which has to be reached but they leave some space for interpretation how to reach these goals. This is also applicable for the two for this thesis relevant guidelines 93/42/EWG for medical devices and 98/79/EG for in-vitro-diagnostics. In Germany as well as in Austria the execution of these two mentioned guidelines is regulated in the so called „Medizinproduktegesetz – MPG“ (medical device act). Although Germany and Austria have to reach and fulfil the same ultimate goal, have the same official language and very comparable social and economic standards, there are certain differences between these two countries in how they are aiming to fulfil these mandatory goals. These differences lead to one or another advantage /disadvantage for one of the two countries. In order to understand which advantages or disadvantages result because of which reasons for either Austria or Germany, the legal situation of clinical trials with medical devices and performance evaluations with in-vitro-diagnostics in these two countries will be investigated and compared to each other in the course of this master thesis. Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit steht die kontinuierliche Online-Trocknung von Transformatorenöl als Möglichkeit zur Entfernung von Wasser aus der Transformatorisolation. Die Reinigung soll die Betriebssicherheit eines Transformators gewährleisten. Es wurden verschiedene Methoden untersucht, um Wasser aus Öl zu entfernen. Dazu zählen die reine Partikelfiltration und eine damit verbundene Entfernung von an Partikeln gebundenem Wasser, die Vakuumtrocknung und der Einsatz von Adsorbenzien. Zudem wurden zwei Modelle entwickelt, die den Verlauf des Wassergehalts im Öl und in der festen Isolierung des Transformators bei kontinuierlicher Öltrocknung simulieren, um Vorhersagen über die Dauer bzw. Qualität der Maßnahme zu machen. Relevante Kenngrößen der Modelle sind das Massenverhältnis der Isolierstoffe, die Verweilzeit des Ölvolumens aufgrund der Dimension der Trocknungsanlage, der Reinigungsgrad des Öls, der Stoffübergang und Kennzahlen für externe und interne Wasserquellen des Transformators.

Electrophoresis and immunoelectrophoresis of cerebrospinal fluid of 201 patients with inflammatory CNS diseases revealed that over a total protein value from 0 to greater than 1, 2 g/1 there was merely a decrease in pre-albumins and a difference in the gamma-globulins as a pointer to immune reactions. Comparison with the absolute values indicated an increase of all fractions in inflammatory and non inflammatory diseases caused by impairment of the blood-CSF barrier. Again there was evidence of immune reaction in the gamma-globulin range. Impairment in the blood-CSF barrier was demonstrated by an increased concentration of IgG, IgA and IgM. An immune reaction was revealed by higher IgG values.

Results of microzone electrophoresis and immunochemical examination of proteins in nonconcentrated CSF were compared. Blood-CSF barrier impairment, disturbances in CSF flow and immune reactions were detectable by the microzone electrophoresis technique. Blood-CSF barrier impairment and immune reactions were detected by immunochemical determination of albumin and IgG on LC partigen plates, the assay range of the plate being sufficient only for these proteins. There was no significant difference in the frequency with which abnormal protein values were found by either method.

Cerebrospinal fluid (C.S.F.) findings of 68 patients in multiple sclerosis in relation to the length of illness are reported. Immune reactions in the C.S.F. are similar to those reported by other research workers. In the first 10 years illness an increasing blood-C.S.F. barrier impairment can be noticed. Similar C.S.F.-diagnoses, immune reaction and barrier disturbance, are also possible in acute and severe stages of multiple sclerosis. Consequently, barrier impariment during a severe reaction in the C.S.F. in multiple sclerosis can be an indicator of an increase of pathomorphological C.N.S.-changes which is possible in the first 10 years of illness.

In a series of examinations of more than 1000 psychiatricneurological patients we tried to state the effects of diabetes mellitus on the nervous system. We attempted to diagnose the diabetic metabolic error by means of using the oral glucose tolerance test (100 g glucose), the plasma insulin levels and many other laboratory-technical examinations (altogether about 23 000 individual tests). It was found that 21,6% of the patients had a pathological glucose tolerance, 29.6% of them had a pathological insulin response and 5,5% of them showed a known and manifest diabetes mellitus. The comparison between the number of patients with a metabolic disturbance and the frequency of sick persons to be expected epidemiologically shows that an influence exercised by the diabetic metabolism may be stated in neurological and psychic disturbances of cerebral sclerosis and polyneuropathy. The central syndromes are more frequent than the peripheric ones. Mainly low plasma insulin is present. As a rule, pathological results may be seen more often during pathological glucose tolerance in electroencephalography, pneumencephalography, CSF-examinations, personality and intelligence states. This suggests that a diffuse disturbance upon the nervous system comes from the diabetic metabolism, without any acute metabolic disturbance which we did not find among our patients. This disturbance is evident clinically as so-called diabetic polyneuropathy and also encephalopathy. In opposition to that very often pathological changes can be seen by technical research methods in other neurological and psychiatric diagnoses without influencing essentially the autonomous progress of the psychiatricneurological illness.

This paper reports on a method which allows the separation of proteins of non concentrated CSF by means of the microzone technic. Pherograms of high quality were possible when the CSF contained more than 10 mg/dl total protein. Protein separation is completed in 16 min when one cellulose acetate strip with 150 V and 2 mA or when 150 V and 4 mA with two strips are used. Proteins were stained with nigrosine. The theoretical basis, technical details and error range of this method of protein separation are discussed.

This paper reports the case of a 20-year-old patient with subacute sclerosing leukoencephalitis who in spite of the severe illness was delivered of a healthy child be caesarean section. This child grew normally and showed no signs of disease of the CNS. The patient herself was treated immunsuppressively and the illness then reached a stationary state. The pathogenesis of subacute sclerosing leukoencephalitis, similarities of laboratory findings to multiple sclerosis, and problems of treatment are discussed.
