This work focuses on the development of dynamic grey‐box models for real‐time applications. Such models can be used in systems for automated prevention of accidents in the chemical industry. The development of grey‐box models for complex technological control objects is illustrated with the example of chemical absorption of CO2 by aqueous monoethanolamine solutions. It is demonstrated how a rigorous rate‐based model can be used to support the development of the grey‐box models. The approach is explained in detail and the results are presented in the form of a mathematical system. The outcomes of this work are applied in the development of market software tools for prevention of accidents in industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
