This paper presents two spheres of public engagement of women in the contemporary society of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH): politics and the academic community. An insight into the first sphere, the political one, provides an introductory, succinct overview of the development of societal roles and positions of women during the period of Jugloslawia (1945-1992). Afterward, it focuses on the current position of women in another public sphere, the academic community. The applied method was a test (questionnaire). The first challenge was to determine the exact number of women engaged in the teaching process at the chosen public university in BiH (University of Zenica) since it was not possible to obtain data through the official internet websites or from the relevant published documents. According to these official documents, the total number of employees based on contracts for full-time or piece-work engagements in 2017 was 520. But, these documents did not contain data on the number of men and women who are engaged as teachers. Based on data available on the internet websites of faculties of this University, there were 65 women engaged as teachers; all were full-time employees since these websites did not present persons engaged as teachers on other legal bases. Results confirmed, while women were not taking the managing positions, men were undoubtedly dominant in higher education institutions managing positions. Although women fairly successfully graduate from all three university study cycles, afterward they face the so-called „glass ceiling“, disabling them or making it very hard to officially enter the education institutions as employees, which limits any future advancement. Women who managed to become faculty members were very often faced with gender-based stigmatization and/or segregation. Further analyses should establish why women, as employees of HEIs, hesitate and decline to accept managing positions. Also, it is necessary to enhance the higher education institution’s methodology of reporting, for HEIs to provide clear data on the number of women engaged in the teaching process, and data on their status (assistants or senior assistants, and assistant, associate or full professors). When a total number of women employed as teaching, administrative and technical staff in an HEI is given, the actual state of gender equality in any of the mentioned three segments is presented. The importance of women’s participation in politics becomes also clear in this point since it is extremely important to have political awareness and readiness for solving problems and creating relevant policies for the above issues.

If ever the concept “VUCA” (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) seemed appropriate to use, it is now. National and global companies experience the highest level of instability due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which is the classic example of a highly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world. In this world, decision-makers have to face more challenges appealing to the VUCA Prime leadership approach: vision against volatility, understanding against uncertainty, clarity against complexity, and agility against ambiguity. Some of the ways through which managers can overcome the VUCA characteristics include: providing a shared vision as a criterion for all decisions to be made, identifying the reason for the decision problems and sharing the idea with the followers, going through the entire decision process, following steps in proper order, and developing quick solutions. In an inventory decision taken in a VUCA context, the above ways are possible if using fuzzy inventory methods dealing with volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. This paper aims to adapt a traditional inventory method, Economic Production Quantity (EPQ), to the challenges of the VUCA world, through the fuzzy logic system (FLS). To achieve the best solution for the decision problem in the shortest time possible, the managers can employ a conversion by using the computing platform MATLAB. There are some advantages of this conversion for these two methods, EPQ and FLS. Firstly, the transformation of EPQ in ELQ (Economic Logic Quantity) allows managers to formulate the decision problem, even if they cannot identify and measure precisely the EPQ parameters. Secondly, using FLS to solve ELQ provides the possibility to simulate more alternatives and generate the solution in the shortest amount of time. Thirdly, it allows the decision-makers to evaluate the impact of the solution provided by each simulation on the company’s performance. Using these methods has the following primary limit: the problem formulation step depends on the managers’ understanding ability and managing a large volume of information. Therefore, there may be a risk of obtaining a relevant solution for a decision problem if the decision-makers do not understand the cause of the problem or do not know how to organize and manage a large volume of information. This limit could be overcome by using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), but this is the topic of further research.

In this paper we have explored the influence of sculptures and paintings by the author of this article as an incentive for motivation and artistic work of preschool-age and school-age children with disabilities in inclusive education through the application of the qualitative research method of observation in all three phases of the method of aesthetic transfer: perception, reception, and reaction. The research was carried out at CIERI (Centre for research, education, development, and training) at the Hercegovina University in Mostar on a sample of 15 children with disabilities in inclusive education, whereof 7 boys (2 preschool-age and 5school-age children) and 8 girls (3 preschool-age and 5 school-age children). In research by using free conversation, we have examined attitudes and opinions about the use of works of fine art as an incentive for motivation and artistic expression of children on a sample of three experts in education and rehabilitation and three parents of preschool-age children with disabilities in inclusive education. By applying the method of analysis and comparative analysis we have determined positive influences of use of works of fine art on the motivation and artistic creation of children with disabilities in inclusive education regardless of age: influence on increased motivation to work, choice of motives, more intensive use of colors and tonal painting, playful composition solutions and the making of complex art volumes. The research has determined that the boys prefer making three-dimensional shapes more than the girls. The research has shown positive attitudes and opinions of the educational and rehabilitation experts and parents towards the use of the mentioned works of art as an incentive for the artistic creation of children.

One of the main objectives of sustainable development is to improve living standards and obtain a friendlier business environment, by increasing their competitiveness and performance and the main goal of companies are to achieve a productive activity that ensures their short-term success, but also to pay attention to long-term survival. This analysis was performed to assess the influence of financial indicators of companies and their contribution on the sustainable development of the North-West region of Romania. The research follows the evolution of sustainable development and financial indicators of the sample of 37 companies listed on the BSE, with data collected from 2008-2019, covering the following sectors according to their BSE classification: manufacturing, trade, hotels, construction. In this paper is used both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Among the qualitative research methods used it can be mentioned: observation, comparison and analysis of data. The econometric analysis is based on the estimation of a panel data regression technique and the decision between the random effects model and the fixed effects model was based on the Hausman test. The microeconomic indicators used to analyse the connection with the indicators of sustainable development of the North-West region of Romania are turnover, net profit and the average number of employees used as independent variables and the indicators selected based on information provided by the National Institute of Statistics for the North-West region, called Territorial Sustainable Development Indicators, are the following: Regional Gross Domestic Product, GDP per inhabitant, economically active population, the employment rate of the working age population, the job vacancy rate and the unemployment rate used as dependent variables. The results of the correlation analysis of the parameters showed a weak, insignificant influence between the financial indicators and the sustainable development indicators, the observed data do not allow the identification of a valid linear model.

The existence of the standards for transmitting documents in electronic format, which ensure their import without being operated once again in the information system of the client, does not exclude the process of inventory of the goods received for identification, inaccuracies that may occur. This paper present a software solution which has been made for optimizing inventory process by using of bar code scanners on Android devices. For this we have made research on client site to identifying needs, and we have to do research for joining different technology together to achieve the main scope.

Preventing and combating phenomenon of tax evasion is a present concern of national governments due to the magnitude this phenomenon represents and because of the increasingly sophisticated techniques used by the authors in carrying out tax frauds. Evolution of tax evasion phenomenon at international level has acquired a profound technological character due to the increasingly elaborate methods. Illegal behaviour has some specific features that could be recognized easily by artificial intelligence models. They use real data in order to derive characteristics that could be identified in due time so that tax avoidant behaviour be identified and prevented. The use of forecasting models like logistic regression, random forests or decision trees in order to model tax avoidant behaviour shows having a good predictive power. Also, the use of the neural networks allowed scientists to calculate probability of an individual taxpayer that would attempt to evade taxes or commit other types of financial frauds. Scientific literature shows an increasing interest in using neural networks to detect and predict fraudulent behaviour in the fields of tax avoidance and financial domain. Cybercrime, cryptocurrency and blockchain were created in order to facilitate payments and help owner in accumulating wealth. Current landscape of financial frauds shows a different picture. Intracommunity frauds are more and more diversified. European Union and International bodies act together to prevent and combat fraud. Could these new technologies possess a real threat to the financial security of our transactions or encourage fraudulent behaviour? This paper tries to find the answer to this question.

Airport Security is a complex and important task directly affecting airports’ operational performances and passenger comfort. As part of the EU Horizon 2020 project PASSME, passenger centric airport and airplane interiors were redesigned in order to meet passengers’ needs and reducing door-to-door travel time. This paper will describe how simulation was used to provide early feedback as part of the security design process and for evaluating the outcome while avoiding high implementation cost and without disturbing operational processes. We will also describe the new developed security design concept as well as the simulation approach with Anylogic software. The simulation output – effects of the new design concept – will be discussed at the end of the paper along with an outlook on further research opportunities.

The paper examines the conceptual implications of using Smart Farming Technologies and digitalisation in small-scale food production, exemplified by the Austrian start-up “myAcker”. The company runs a hybrid system of gamified, remote-controlled agriculture, where its customers assume the role of “online gardeners” and take care of their own vegetables. Conceptually, it combines two different logics, namely the technology focus of vertical farming and algorithm-based control over operational processes, and the participatory, values-based elements of Alternative Food Networks like connectivity, sustainability, and ownership developed by online gardeners. Consequently, the dividing lines between producers, customers, and technology, as well as between virtual and physical, become blurred. Thus, the agency of technology becomes a co-constituent of agricultural work, life, and identity, which is itself co-constituted by human actors in a network of social relations. The case study shows the new potential and pitfalls of small-scale smart farming and digitalisation, making it necessary to conceptually revisit human–environment relations in the Actor Network Theory by more explicitly including technology as a bridging element.

The purpose of the article/hypothesis: The paper discusses the problem of condition of companies together with their growth measured by earnings per share, sales, assets and equity. The condition of a company in a capital market is considered good when the goal of the business is achieved, namely the increase of value that occurs with the increase of earnings per share. We assume that the condition of companies measured by Altman’s Z-score Model scores is related to their growth, and ratios applied in this model influence the growth of companies measured by EPS, sales, assets and equity. The research is conducted in two groups of companies, one representing WIG listed entities and the other one comprising DAX listed companies.Methodology: The growth of earnings per share is considered as a measure of companies’ value creation. The growth of EPS should be related to the growth of sales, assets and equity according to the growth theory. To analyze the influence of Altman’s Z-score Model on the growth of EPS, sales, assets and equity, the Pearson and Spearman correlation is applied in the first place. Moreover, logit models are applied to analyze the influence of ratios composing the Altman’s Z-score Model on the growth of EPS, sales, assets and equity.Results of the research: Discriminant models can be applied for the assessment of the economic condition of companies but the interpretation of the results should take into account the fact that risky strategies identified by Altman’s Z-score Model as dangerous are related to the higher growth of earnings per share, therefore, there should be a negative relationship between Altman’s Z-score Model scores and EPS growth and it was confirmed in this study. Cel artykułu / hipoteza: W prezentowanej pracy omówiono problem kondycji przedsiębiorstw wraz z ich wzrostem reprezentowanym przez zysk na akcję, sprzedaż, majątek oraz kapitał własny. Kondycję przedsiębiorstwa na rynku kapitałowym uznaje się za dobrą w momencie osiągnięcia celu biznesowego, jakim jest wzrost wartości, który następuje wraz ze wzrostem zysku na akcję. Zakładamy, że kondycja firm mierzona punktami Z-score Model Altmana jest związana z ich wzrostem, a wskaźniki zastosowane w tym modelu wpływają na wzrost spółek reprezentowany przez wzrost EPS, wzrost sprzedaży, wzrost aktywów i wzrost kapitałów własnych. Badanie zostało prowadzone w dwóch grupach spółek, z których jedna grupa reprezentuje spółki giełdowe tworzące indeks WIG, a druga spółki giełdowe tworzące indeks DAX.Metodologia: wzrost zysku na akcję jest uważany za miarę tworzenia wartości przedsiębiorstw. Wzrost EPS powinien być powiązany ze wzrostem sprzedaży, aktywów i kapitałów włąsnych zgodnie z teorią wzrostu przedsiębiorstw. Aby ocenić wpływ modelu Z-score Altmana na wzrost EPS, sprzedaży, aktywów i kapitału, zastosowano korelację Pearsona i Spearmana. Ponadto modele logitowe zostały zastosowane do analizy wpływu wskaźników składających się na model Z-score Altmana na wzrost EPS, sprzedaży, aktywów i kapitału.Wyniki badań: Modele dyskryminacyjne mogą być wykorzystywane do oceny kondycji ekonomicznej przedsiębiorstw, ale interpretacja wyników powinna uwzględniać fakt, że ryzykowne strategie identyfikowane przez modele Z-score Model Altmana jako obarczone dużym ryzykiem bankructwa są związane z wyższym wzrostem zysku na akcję, a co za tym idzie wzrostem wartości.

Environmental supervision and government subsidy are important tools for government to promote green innovation. The influence of these two policy orientations on green innovation performance is spreading widely, but the specific indirect mechanism of policy orientation inducing green innovation needs further exploring. This paper introduces the knowledge-dynamic ability (knowledge production ability, knowledge acquisition ability, knowledge integration ability) into the analysis framework of enterprise green innovation, and studies the mediating effect of the knowledge-dynamic ability on policy orientation and green innovation. Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2000 to 2015, the empirical findings are as follows: Firstly, the knowledge-dynamic ability plays a remarkable mediating role in promoting between policy orientation and green innovation, which indicates that improving the knowledge-dynamic ability is a core mechanism of policy orientation to induce enterprise green innovation. Secondly, the knowledge-dynamic ability plays a complete mediating role in the relationship between environmental supervision and green innovation. Environmental supervision promotes green process innovation by enhancing knowledge acquisition ability and induces green product innovation by enhancing knowledge production ability. Thirdly, the knowledge-dynamic ability plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between government subsidy and green innovation. Government subsidy improves enterprise green process innovation by enhancing knowledge acquisition ability and knowledge integration ability, and induces enterprise green product innovation by enhancing knowledge production ability and knowledge integration ability., Nadzor okoliša i vladine subvencije važni su alati vlade za promicanje zelenih inovacija. Utjecaj tih dviju smjernica politike na rast zelene inovacije se širi, ali potrebno je dodatno istražiti specifične neizravne mehanizme usmjerenosti politike koje potiču zelene inovacije. U ovom radu uvodi se dinamička sposobnost znanja (sposobnost proizvodnje znanja, sposobnost stjecanja znanja, sposobnost integracije znanja) u okvir analize poduzeća zelenih inovacija i proučava posrednički učinak sposobnosti dinamike znanja na usmjerenost politike i zelene inovacije. Empirijski nalazi koji se temelje na panel podacima 30 kineskih provincija za razdoblje od 2000. do 2015. su slijedeći: Prvo, dinamička sposobnost znanja ima značajnu posredničku ulogu između promicanja usmjerenosti prema politici i zelenih inovacija, što ukazuje na to da je poboljšanje dinamičke sposobnosti znanja temeljni mehanizam usmjeravanja politike za poticanje zelenih inovacija u poduzeću. Drugo, dinamička sposobnost znanja igra potpunu posredničku ulogu u odnosu između nadzora okoliša i zelenih inovacija. Nadzor okoliša promiče inovacije zelenih procesa povećavajući sposobnost stjecanja znanja i potiče inovacije zelenih proizvoda poboljšanjem sposobnosti proizvodnje znanja. Treće, dinamička sposobnost znanja ima djelomično posredničku ulogu između državnih subvencija i zelenih inovacija. Državne subvencije poboljšavaju inovacije zelenog procesa u poduzeću povećavanjem sposobnosti stjecanja znanja i sposobnosti integracije znanja, te potiču inovacije zelenih proizvoda u poduzeću povećavanjem sposobnosti proizvodnje znanja i sposobnosti integracije znanja.

The present paper discusses Li Hongwei’s novel The King and Lyric Poetry (2017). The novel tells the story of the suicide of the last Nobel Prize laureate in the future history of literature, Chinese poet Yuwen Wanghu. Following the detective thread of the book, the essay reconstructs utopian and dystopian semi-virtual landscapes of the mid-21st century China which feed into two different models of lyricism: the poet as a knight errant who seeks inspiration far from modern civilization and the poet as a lonely warrior against (technological) tyranny. In the final scene, the two landscapes blur and the antithetical forces that infuse them: lyricism (Yuwen) and power/knowledge (the King) merge into what may be seen as their dialectical synthesis to be fulfilled by the novel’s third protagonist – Yuwen’s young friend, Li Pulei. Mobilizing various contexts, including the suicides of famous mainland-Chinese poets, important poetry polemics, and intertexts ranging from classical Chinese literary theory through to Truman Show and Matrix, I argue that the novel mirrors the development of poetry discourse in the PRC with its various myths, conflicts, complexes, and ambitions. I also show how this discourse, shaped for a long time largely by the so-called Third Generation poets born in the 1950s and 1960s, translates into the situation of the poets who belong to a younger generation (“post-70”) represented by Li Hongwei among others, and what (self-)expectations, challenges, and limitations they face in their writing.

An overview of literature on and state of knowledge of the application of user-centred design methodologies are discussed. Based on the experience with creating digital products and multi-media exhibitions, the Author claims that the role of users/visitor experience testing in the process of designing and implementing technological projects is of key importance. Using the example of the work on the new version of the multimedia display titled ‘Experiencing Chopin’ (2020) at Warsaw’s Fryderyk Chopin Museum, the paper discusses means of adaptation of the most popular research and evaluation techniques in usercentred testing in the museum context.

This paper presents the outcomes of the project HYMENSO – Hybrid Concentrated Solar Thermal Power (CSP) and Photovoltaic (PV) plants for MENA Region –which had the main goal to investigate the optimal configuration of solar power plants for selected sites in Jordan, Tunisia and Algeria. This technology hybridization is becoming popular since it can harvest the advantages of both systems: easy installation and low LCOE (levelized cost of electricity) for PV, versatility and dispatchability of CSP. Additionally, fossil back-up with natural gas is also analyzed. The project HYMENSO was funded by the participants’ countries in the framework of ERANETMED. This paper presents results with focus on the simulation of the hybrid CSP-PV systems, due to its innovative character and current relevance. It has been demonstrated that there are many configuration options for hybridizing CSP and PV systems, therefore requiring the definition of further boundary conditions to determine an optimum, such as limitation of CO2 emissions in case that fossil back-up is used, expected satisfaction of the electricity demand, available land or water limitations. Important to notice is that for countries with a high fossil fuel price, the hybridization with natural gas reduces the overall LCOE only until a share of the generated energy of about 20%, higher use of fossil fuel is for such sites rich in solar irradiation not of noticeable advance.

I argue that some of the key components of their Epochenstilgeschichte (e.g., the rejection of one continuing history and of the importance of historical reception, or the idea of radical ruptures between epochs and the emphasis on the conformities of the coexistent) can also be found in Foucault's The Order of Things. Resorting to his reception of Lamprecht, Spitzer, and Merleau-Ponty, I furthermore attempt to show how Foucault may have come in contact with the above-mentioned concepts, and how he uses them in his critique of the inherited philosophy of history. Purpose Many researchers and practitioners suggest a contingent instead of a “one size fits all” approach in business process management (BPM). The purpose of this paper is to offer a contingency theory of BPM, which proposes contingency factors relevant to the successful management of business processes and that explains how and why these contingencies impact the relationships between process management and performance. Design/methodology/approach The authors develop the theory by drawing on organizational information processing theory (OIPT) and applying an information processing (IP) perspective to the process level. Findings The premise of the model is that the process management mechanisms such as documentation, standardization or monitoring must compensate for the uncertainty and equivocality of the nature of the process that has to be managed. In turn, managing through successful adaptation is a prerequisite for process performance. Research limitations/implications The theory provides a set of testable propositions that specify the relationship between process management mechanisms and process performance. The authors also discuss implications of the new theory for further theorizing and outline empirical research strategies that can be followed to enact, evaluate and extend the theory. Practical implications The theory developed in this paper allows an alternative way to describe organizational processes and supports the derivation of context-sensitive management approaches for process documentation, standardization, monitoring, execution and coordination. Originality/value The theoretical model is novel in that it provides a contextualized view on BPM that acknowledges different types of processes and suggests different mechanisms for managing these. The authors hope the paper serves as inspiration both for further theory development as well as to empirical studies that test, refute, support or otherwise augment the arguments.

The aim of this paper is to present the results of an empirical analysis of the use of non-alphabetic graphic signs (e.g. asterisks, slashes, plus signs etc.) in the context of repairs in Russian and German informal electronic communication. The data for the analysis were taken from the “Mobile Communication Database MoCoDa” (https://www.uni-due.de/~hg0263/SMSDB), which contains Russian and German private electronic communication via SMS, WhatsApp and other short message services, and the “Dortmunder Chat-Korpus” (http://www.chatkorpus.tu-dortmund.de/korpora.html). This paper describes the functions of various graphic resources in the context of repairs in both data collections and compares the occurrences of these functions in current Russian and German computer-mediated communication. It concludes that particular signs in both data sets share the same subset of functions, but they differ in terms of how frequently these resources occur in each form of communication., Journal für Medienlinguistik, Bd. 1 Nr. 1 (2018)

The goal of this research is to examine and determine whether the teaching of art studies is realized according to the current curriculum in the primary school grades III and IV grade. The sample consists of 214 students and 10 teachers. The research methods selected for deriving relevant conclusions are a descriptive method, theoretical analysis method, historical method, and experimental method. Results obtained through a survey questionnaire, related to the surveyed teachers, about whether they represent fields of art equally in their art classes, are that they answered in the representation of 100%, as well as the majority of students (96.26%) who answered affirmatively to the same question. During the experiment, 80% of students encountered graphics for the first time, so in this case, the answers in the first survey for teachers and students did not match the current situation in the school. In answering the question of what most art classes are about, the majority of students (82.71%) answered drawing, while the remaining 18.69% answered that they usually paint. According to the students, the areas of art are not equally represented in teaching, as shown by the results of a survey conducted among teachers. With this paper, it has been determined that graphics, as an art discipline, even though it is planned by the primary education’s curriculum with an exact number of hours, is not fulfilled or equally represented in the art studies.

Relevance is caused by the fact that the achievement of the required performance results is based on the mutual understanding of the workers of a coal mining enterprise and the consistency of their interaction. It is advisable to carry out a socio-economic valuation and mutual assessment of their activities to effectively change these components. For a correct assessment of the activities of employees, it is necessary to determine the criteria and indicators that reflect its socio-economic characteristics and the results achieved by employees. Purpose of the paper is to present a methodological toolkit that allows employees of a coal mining enterprise to carry out a socioeconomic valuation and mutual assessment of their activities, to develop measures for improving its efficiency. Research methodology and methods. The socio-economic valuation of employees work activities is based on the following provisions: 1) the results of the employee’s activities and the process of achieving them are assessed; 2) an employee himself makes the assessment as well as other employees interacting with him (manager, colleagues, subordinates). When substantiating the criteria and indicators, the methods of structural and functional analysis, scientific generalization and expert assessments were used. Results. A set of criteria and indicators have been substantiated reflecting the attitude of employees to activities, the process of their activities and the results they achieve. A method of socio-economic valuation of activities is proposed, the application of which allows identifying discrepancies in assessments, to achieve mutual understanding between interacting employees, their managers and colleagues, to develop relationships that ensure the required results of interaction. Conclusions. Socio-economic valuation of an employee’s work activities of a coal mining enterprise according to the proposed methodology using a reasonable set of criteria and indicators allows you to form an agreed understanding of the requirements for the activity and its results, to develop and implement effective measures to achieve the desired results Keywords: indicators and criteria, methodology, activity, coal mining enterprise, employee, socio-economic valuation, mutual understanding, relationships, interaction, results.

With the development of economy, people's pursuit of quality of life is increasing day by day, which lays a foundation for the development of sports industry in China. For example, in some western developed countries, the contribution of sports industry to economy has far exceeded that of traditional industry and become a new growth point of economic development. Although China's sports industry has made certain development, it is still in its infancy. Compared with the western developed countries, the development of China's sports industry is still relatively slow, and there are still some problems to be solved in the development of sports industry. This paper mainly studies the relationship between sports industry and economic development in China. Based on the statistical index data of national economy and sports industry development from 2011 to 2020, the relationship between sports industry development and national economic growth in China is empirically analyzed by using mathematical statistics and VAR model. According to the research results, there is a high correlation between the sports industry and economic development. The development of the sports industry is based on a certain level of economic growth of the country, while the development of the sports industry at a certain stage will have a multiplier effect. It is proved that the state should contribute to the development of the sports industry, because this ensures the symbiotic development of the national economy, which generally leads to an increase in the quality of life. To do this, it is necessary to stimulate the activity of the sports market and create a fair and open system of legal support, as well as standardize the assessment and supervision system.

The paper deals with precedent names derived from source domain “Music” in the modern media discourse in the UK. The data of research include list of 300 precedent names used in the British media (BBC, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Times, The Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent) in 2010-2020. The theoretical and methodological basis of the research is the lingvocultural analysis and cognitive analysis of discourse (cognitive-discursive paradigm). Five main methods of studying precedent names in media discourse are highlighted (method of analyzing single precedent names; method of studying precedent names, united by the source domain; method of studying precedent names, united by the target domain; method of functional analysis of precedent names; method of studying precedent names, united by discourse). In accordance with the research goal, this study uses the method of studying precedent names, united by the source domain, in a certain national discourse. Based on the analysis of practical material, it was concluded that (1) the specificity of the source domain determines the discursive features of the functioning of precedent names in media discourse; (2) the peculiarity of the functioning of precedent names from the considered source domain in the British media discourse is that journalists give preference to the onyms of American and British musical performers, which is due to the dominance of English-language music in world popular culture, while the dominant place is given to rock music performers, which is also due to cultural factors (3) precedent names from the source domain “Music” are used in the UK media discourse as universal signs, the use of which is not limited to musical topics in the target domain. Although most of the contexts in which precedent names are actualized are associated with music, the onyms under consideration can be used to conceptualize phenomena from other spheres of social reality (sports, fashion, terrorism, etc.).

Referring to a newly formed word that accommodates the usage of a language at a particular time, the term neologism presents a relatively recent or isolated term, word, or phrase that may undergo the process of entering everyday usage, but that has not been fully accepted into language. They appear to be strongly influenced by changes in society, especially in culture and technology, and recently by rapid advancements in internet-based communication. However, due to their significant use, they seem to be widely and quickly accepted in social networking sites around the globe (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and WhatsApp). These social networking sites have had a significant impact on everyone nowadays as they improve and speed up communication, foster relationships and also boost business ventures. The hypothesis of this paper states that neologisms created by different morphological processes are excessively used in internet-based communication, for which purpose the examples from four most popular social networks have been extracted and compared. The results of the analysis have shown an extremely high percentage of the usage of neologisms in social networking sites.

Crime fiction originated in the mid-nineteenth century, at a time of great positivistic confidence in the potential of human knowledge. Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories are considered as the beginning of the genre, and his character Auguste Dupin is the first modern literary detective. F. M. Dostoevsky did not write crime novels because the elements of the genre present in his novels participate in the construction of a different kind. However, this paper will try to look in more detail at the key differences between Dostoevsky and the classical rules of crime fiction, on the example of the novel “Crime and Punishment”.A deeper understanding of these differences reveals the limits of the genre, while in Dostoevsky one can recognize one of the early critiques of the fundamental principles and world picture that the genre represents.

The paper analyzes some of the cryopoetic elements in Ivo Andrić ‘s novel The Damn Yard from a stylistic aspect. Special attention is paid to the strong positions of the text, ie. analysis of titles, incoative and finite sentences, names of characters, as well as other interesting elements.

The paper sheds new light on the Russian Federation’s economic security problem in the face of sanctions and changing geopolitical balance in Central Asia. The novelty of the research perspective and, subsequently, the results and conclusions are expressed by combining an economic perspective with a cultural-political and media-centered approach. There were analysed the range of Russo-Iranian economic cooperation, the factors that make Iran a prospective partner for Russia and the role of the Russian media in shaping the picture of friendly future in bilateral relations. The conclusions are that the Russian “turn to the South” – towards Iran – was provoked not only by the sanctions imposed which decreased the economic security level but it also resulted from the previously established patterns of the Russian foreign policy.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of the diffusion of the Internet on audience fragmentation in Germany. Fragmentation is defined in terms of a declining probability that an individual will find like-minded others who are concerned about the same issues as that individual. Accordingly, fragmentation increases if the number of issues the individual is concerned about (nominal issue diversity) declines and the entropy of issues at the level of society (issue entropy) increases. The paper provides a brief review of publications concerned with media, fragmentation, and issue entropy. It then picks up a recent study, which revealed no relevant changes in nominal issue diversity in Germany during the period of Internet diffusion. In a second step, survey data representative for the German population during the same time period is analyzed to test for an increase in issue entropy. The findings reveal a small but systematic trend of growing issue entropy. This trend could not be attributed to the diffusion of the Internet. First, it was not possible to do so because age groups that had different rates of Internet adoption demonstrated a lack of differences in issue entropy. Second, there are differences between the dynamics of issue entropy and the dynamics pertaining to the diffusion of the Internet as entropy decreased after 2000, whereas the diffusion of the Internet continued to increase rapidly. It is there- fore concluded that the diffusion of the Internet did not cause issue fragmentation during the sample period from 1994 to 2005.

The paper discusses a group of monumental crucifixes from the 13th-century East Adriatic and Italy, pained or executed in low relief, that display a verse inscriptions on the transverse limb of the cross. The main scope of the paper is to examine the provenance of the text inscribed in order to yield clearer insight into their function, use and original location in the church interiors. The paper specifically aims at analyzing three monumental crucifixes from the East-Adriatic city of Zadar which, although have already been the subject of a respectable number of studies, have not attracted attention as objects of devotion. My interest, therefore, is turned towards verse inscription as their distinctive feature and, as I shall argue, a key aspect in understanding their function. Examining the nature of the text displayed, iconography and materiality of these crucifixes, my main argument is to demonstrate how these objects provoked a multi-faced response from their audience, since were experienced by seeing, hearing and touching respectively.

Recent debate in human geography has challenged the problematic "alternative"/"conventional" duality that characterises contemporary food provision. Within this binary, alternative food networks and initiatives (AFIs and AFNs) are positioned in opposition to more conventional, agri-capitalist modes of food production and distribution. Framing food around materially, discursively and spatially distinct, albeit relational, geographies not only reinforces this binary but also reaffirms the hegemony of agri-capitalism that alternative provision seeks to undo. Focusing on examples of artisanal and industrial bread production in the UK and the USA, this paper challenges such ontological framings. Drawing from conceptual insights into diverse economies and alternative economic spaces (e.g. Gibson-Graham, 1996:2004; Lee and Leyshon, 2003) and adopting an integrative approach to practice (Shove and Pantzar, 2005; Hand and Shove, 2007), this paper examines the practices that constitute artisanal and industrial baking. Specifically, it focuses on the ways in which embodied practices constitute the spaces of production for such foods. While acknowledging the considerable distances between the geographies that circumscribe these alternative and conventional foods, this paper argues that practices of food production narrow these distances, thereby destabilising the alternative/conventional binary. The geographies of food may mobilise an array of places, materials and ideologies, which are suggestive of two opposing systems of food provision, but practices of food production reveal an array of marginal spaces that challenge this. By reorienting critical attention onto these marginal spaces, the differences between artisanal and conventional food become blurred – and the affinities produced through normalised discourses and materialities of food are contested, resisted and disrupted. I argue these spaces are insurgent and that they come together through affinitive practices, which result in the potential for radical change within food provision.

A group of university teachers have worked to organize and host an annual performance festival for 20 years. About a hundred students from several universities gather and perform a variety of oral activities every year. Students engage with everything from everyday events to long-standing global issues through drama, and thus this festival is a unique educational experience. Touching on the current status of EFL (English as Foreign Language) within Japanese Universities, this paper aims to discuss the significance of the festival through briefly describing some sample performances and their process of preparation. While the festival is not in any way competitive, both students and teachers attending are expected to provide some form of feedback to every performance viewed. Expressing themselves at the festival is especially meaningful in the context of EFL, where no immediate need to use the language in their daily life exists for the typical Japanese student. Additionally, participants are likely to gain a sense of achievement and confidence through the process and encouraging response at the festival. Finally, students learn to collaborate efficiently and build leadership skills. Challenges in terms of preparation and management of the festival are also discussed in this paper.

This paper takes up the increasingly popular topic of drones — including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), small unmanned aerial Systems (sUAS), Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) and a vast panoply of commercial drones and copters — to argue that our analysis should lie not so much on drones as objects, but as assemblages of the vertical. Drones, I argue, constitute a socio-technical assemblage of the sky and vertical space, which means that our focus should be not (only) on their technological development and capacities (although this is certainly important) but on their wider effects and affects. The latter of these include increasing algorithmic data collection and circulation. In the second part of the paper, I examine what I call "algorithmic governance" inspired by the recent governing algorithms conference at NYU but also drawing from Foucault's work on governmentality. Algorithmic governance constitutes "conduct of conduct" to modulate how "data shadows" or Deleuzian "dividuals" can be created, sold, and passed forward. My particular concern is how this takes place in a geographic register.

There are some significant differences between the health systems in German speaking Europe and Sweden: In Sweden, the number of hospitals is small, caregiving services in the hospital and ambulatory sector are integrated, health professionals with university degrees are granted extended competencies and rights incl. first line consultation and limited prescription. Education is designed to prepare for these functions and responsibilities. It started more than 30 years ago when Linköping implemented the OECD-model of Health Universities. Interprofessional teaching, common learning of the various tracks and training on real patients are constitutive elements of this novel approach. Karolinska University in Stockholm adopted the model in 1998 and gave way to a nationwide reform. A recommendation of the German Science Council regarding training of health professionals, published 2012, drew the attention of educators to this approach. The paper explains the circumstances of the consolidation of this concept. It is important to realize that overarching governance principles and measures deriving from health and education policy are of crucial importance. They evolve from evaluations of needs carried out by the regional health agencies which lead to conditional mandates and financial incentives to the education sector. Moreover, decisions taken by the national board for accreditation and quality assurance take also in account the goals set and the outcomes in education and caregiving. Outside Sweden they would be considered an inappropriate limitation of academic freedom.The paper ends with a reflection of impressions collected during a study trip and shows some lessons to be learnt from the Swedish education and practice.

The purpose of this paper was to examine the effect of regulatory changes regarding financial reporting deadlines introduced because of COVID-19 pandemic on relationship between earnings management and financial reporting timeliness Using sample of companies listed on stock exchange in Republic of Croatia for the period from 2015 to 2019, pooled OLS regression model was estimated with panel data Financial reporting timeliness was measured with financial reporting delay, while level of earnings management was proxied by discretionary accruals Empirical results supported the hypothesis that the aforementioned changes of regulatory framework during the extraordinary pandemic circumstances had a statistically significant positive effect on relationship between earnings management and financial reporting delay, indicating that financial reporting delays after regulatory changes during pandemic could be attributed to earnings management activities Furthermore, after separating income-increasing and income-decreasing accruals, moderating effect of regulatory changes was significant and negative only in case of income decreasing accruals, suggesting that companies were adjusting their financial information in accordance with pessimistic economic forecasts to mitigate probable profitability deterioration in future periods © 2020, University of Rijeka All rights reserved

The goal of this paper is related to the liquidity and profitability relationship analysis and their maxima assessment in the companies listed in the main and alternative markets of Warsaw Stock Exchange. The trade-off between maximum profitability and liquidity is the result of value maximization and bankruptcy prevention strategies and this approach is expected to be similar in all listed companies due to investors’ expectation. It has been found that there is no difference in management goals in the markets taken into consideration and companies in both research samples maximize profitability within a conservative approach to the liquidity. The maximum liquidity, on the other hand, is determined with a similar level of profitability as measured by ROE on the main market of WSE and NewConnect.

The paper involves critical reading and reevaluation of the 1967 essay “Metaphysical Harikiri” by Nikola Milosevic. Considered is Milosevic’s differentiating between mental and metaphysical harikiri, as well as theoretical concepts of Konstantin Leontiev, Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche and Oswald Spengler, which Milosevic used to underpin his own thesis that likened philosophy to a blade or a dagger, with which the philosopher wounds himself. Even though Milosevic never republished it in his later publications, the essay is an important part of his opus, especially in terms of his interpretation of the so-called bitter beauty of style found in some philosophical works characterized by a pessimistic or melancholy undercurrent.

The paper considers the metaphorical models as a way of conceptual-metaphorical representation of migration policies pursued by the German federal government in the texts of official statements of the right-wing opposition party “Alternative for Germany” (AfD). The study aims at analyzing the functioning of conceptual metaphors in the German political discourse focused on migration processes. The study is based on the texts of AfD’s official statements within the 2016th and the 2019th years posted on the website https://www.afd.de/ The overall number of the analyzed texts is 70. The theory of political metaphor is currently one of the most urgent and dynamic fields of linguistics. In our opinion, the metaphorization of migration processes is understudied and needs addressing the topic. As a result of the research, the conclusion is made that the metaphor serves as one of the most important and effective ways of manipulation aimed at controlling the public awareness and contributing to shaping political viewpoints that benefit the addresser. Throughout the study we analyzed the basic metaphorical models used to describe migration processes in Germany; a classification of predominant metaphors based on the sources of metaphorical expansion was worked out. Besides, we tried to trace the dynamics of using the metaphorical models within the four-year period. In 2016 as well as in 2019 nature-morphic, anthropomorphic, sociomorphic models were widely used in the official statements of the AfD party. However, the number of the metaphors in the texts dated 2016 is half as much as in 2019 (184 versus 120). In both periods of time the sociomorphic model proved to be the most popular but it is much more frequent in 2019. However, in the texts dated 2016 it comprises additional concepts of religion and hospitality. The nature-morphic metaphor is twice more frequent in 2016. The percent of anthropomorphic and cognitive metaphors in both periods of time remains unaltered.

The main purpose of my Ph.D. project is to describe and understand the way television-programmes and video-films are being used by the very youngest viewers, and how they interpret and interact with especially television (and video) narratives. This particular audience-group has been vastly neglected in both Nordic and European media studies, even though several programmes and concepts over the last decade have been aimed directly at the youngest viewers and despite the fact that they represent a considerable consumer-segment. I have as a main thesis that children are constituted as television viewers during early childhood and that they, at this early age, develop preferences for specific genres, programs or concepts. Also, this age period is characterized by huge developments; cognitive, linguistic, bodily and socially, in which television texts plays an important role in providing narratives and other forms of raw-material. In the presentation of my paper I will include some of the very first findings from the empirical part of my study and discuss initial problems and challenges regarding design.My paper will emphasize the methodological challenges of the project, in trying to grasp children’s meaning-making (which is usually what traditional reception analysis does) by using methods originated in media ethnography. Mixing the two hitherto separated research traditions is partly determined by necessity, but also provides new insights, which will be discussed in my paper.

This paper presents an architecture for Automated Valet Parking (AVP) connected to cloud-based IoT services and mobile user interfaces. The goal is to enable AVP services for automatic vehicles. From the user perspective, automatic car drop-off and pick-up are activated via smart phone application, and the user will be able to continuously monitor the vehicle status together with additional services as cleaning or recharge during the parking phase. Further, the IoT platform allows the integration of live services that will interact with automatic driving and parking. As an example, the presented AVP setup includes the operation of service drones to automatically guide a vehicle to the best parking spot. The demonstration in this paper comprises a parking car and a micro aerial vehicle (MAV) connected in real-time through the IoT platform as well as the smart phone application where the car is controlled and supervised.

Dialect in Upper Silesian Urban SpaceThe paper presents ways in which linguistic messages are stylized to the local dialect in the space of Upper Silesian towns. The multitude of examples is a testimony to fashion for Silesian-ness, a turn towards locality and opposition to globalization. The phenomenon is related to quest for identity and the state and status of Silesian speech. The author discusses the role of towns in sociolinguistic research, and the notion of linguistic landscape. The paper presents inscriptions observed in Upper Silesia: place names, product names, official messages, posters and billboards (including political and advertisement ones), exhibitions, inscriptions on walls and on clothes.

To assess digital patient briefing as an alternative to conventional paper documentation. 502 patients with a planned computed tomography (CT) examination were selected for digital patient briefing using the E-ConsentPro software from Thieme Compliance on an iPad by Apple (Cupertino, California, USA). For the analysis, three age groups were formed. The time required for the patient briefing, the number of open questions as well as the time needed for discussion with physicians were determined. Student's t-test was performed to assess statistical significance. There was no significant difference between patient age and briefing time which was about 20 minutes on average. The number of open or unclear questions increased with patient age. While patients younger than 30 years of age had about 2 open questions, patients over 30 and 60 years had about 4 and 5 questions, respectively. The total time needed for discussion with physicians was less than 2 minutes on average. A significant difference in the time required for discussion with physicians could not be observed between the individual age groups. Tablet-based digital briefing allows the storage of patient documents with reasonable time and effort. Zur Prüfung von signifikanten Unterschieden wurde der t-Test durchgeführt. Unabhängig vom Alter bearbeiteten die Patienten den digitalen Aufklärungsbogen im Mittel ca. 20 Minuten. Die Anzahl der offenen oder unklaren, noch mit dem aufklärenden Arzt zu besprechenden Fragen nahm nicht signifikant mit dem Patientenalter zu. Während Patienten unter 30 Jahren vor dem Arztgespräch ca. 2 offene Fragen hatten, hatten Patienten über 60 Jahre ca. 5 offene Fragen. Patienten zwischen 30 und 60 Jahren hatten noch ca. 4 Fragen, die mit dem Arzt besprochen werden sollten. Die Gesamtdauer eines Aufklärungsgesprächs mit dem Arzt betrug im Mittel unter 2 Minuten. Signifikante Unterschiede im Zeitaufwand für das ärztliche Aufklärungsgespräch konnten zwischen den einzelnen Altersgruppen nicht festgestellt werden. Vehicle kilometers travelled (VKT) directly reflect the extent of spatial interaction within society and economy. VKT is also a key figure to quantify the use of road infrastructure. Consequently, VKT is one of the most important statistical indicators in traffic and transport. For a country with substantial cross-border transport relations such as Germany, VKT must be differentiated in national and domestic VKT: national VKT is the mileage of vehicles registered in Germany while domestic VKT is the mileage on German territory by German and foreign vehicles. This paper presents the most current German VKT survey, Fahrleistungserhebung (FLE) 2014, which comprised two elements: a motor vehicle owner survey to measure national VKT and traffic counts to measure domestic VKT. Vehicle mileage figures with deep stratification of both national and domestic VKT can only be generated through such special empirical studies. The focus of this paper is on the vehicle owner survey and national VKT.

This paper sheds light on the role of visualization methods within the design thinking process. It provides a conceptual framework showing illustrative examples of visualization for each phase indicating its functions and benefits. Based on a thorough understanding of the functions and benefits of knowledge visualization in general, this paper seeks to provide a first overview of the use of visualization in design thinking informing and supporting practitioners and researcher for more conscious selections of visualization methods in their design thinking efforts.

Der Beitrag stellt die Idee des postheroischen Managements im Kontext der Entwicklung organischer anstelle mechanischer Managementsysteme sowie der digitalen Transformation der modernen Buchdruckgesellschaft in eine „nächste“ Computergesellschaft vor und skizziert die Idee einer agilen Produktentwicklung in heterarchischen Netzwerkstrukturen organisationalen Handelns The paper discusses ideas of post-heroic management in the double context of a development of organic instead of mechanic management systems and a digital transformation of modern printing press society into a “next” computer society. The paper then looks into the idea of agile product development within heterarchic network structures of organisational action.

In this paper we focus on the comparative analysis between Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and its modern version, Anouilh’s Romeo and Jeannette . Anouilh is a representative of modern playwrights who evoke Shakespeare in their argument that a number of structures in our society are enemies of the authentic individual. What they adopt from Shakespeare is the capacity of man to relate with the world in a loving way. We argue that Anouilh’s Romeo and Jeannette fits the template of Shakespeare’s Tragic Equation – the mythical pattern present in all of the Bard’s works, the tragedy of the Lover devoid of love. These works evoke Shakespeare’s warning: that modern society is not conducive of love. On the contrary, the system is based on the suppression of genuine human affection; its re-emergence would subvert the dominant power-relations. In the introduction, we attempt to define the notion of romantic love by referring to the works of Bloom, Illouz, Vyvyan, etc. The following two segments of the paper deal with the analysis of the romantic relationship in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and its modern evocations in the work of Anouilh. In the conclusion, the destructive tendencies of the (modern) patriarchal society are yet again highlighted and linked to Shakespeare’s warning and desire to make his audience and readers perceive, judge and finally condemn them.

This paper provides a detailed system theoretical model of a plenoptic camera with the aim to provide in-depth understanding of the plenoptic data recording concept and its effects. Plenoptic cameras, also known as light field cameras, were firstly thought of in the beginning of the 20th century and became recently possible thanks to rapid development of processing hardware and the increase of camera sensor resolution. Despite being a new type of sensor, they are operated in the same way as conventional cameras, but offer several advantages. A plenoptic camera consists of a main lens and a lenslet array (microlens array) right in front of the detector. The microlens array causes not only the recording of the incident location of a light ray on the sensor, as it is done by a conventional camera, but also the incident direction. Such a record can be represented by a 4-D data set known as the light field. In fact, by inserting a microlens array any conventional camera can be transformed into a plenoptic camera. The plenoptic recording concept and the 4-D light field provide multiple advantages over conventional cameras. For example, a single recorded light field allows first, to reconstruct novel views with small changes in viewpoint, second, to create a depth map, and third, to refocus images after the data capture. Hence, the process of focusing is shifted from hardware to software. Last, but not least, plenoptic cameras allow an extended depth of field in comparison to a conventional camera and the use of a bigger camera aperture. Most of the mentioned advantages become particularly effective at close-range to an object. The German Aerospace Center performs research on plenoptic cameras for close-range imaging in space. Possible applications are for example robot vision with plenoptic cameras for robotic arm operations during on-orbit servicing missions or the use of plenoptic cameras on rovers in the course of exploration missions to other planets. Those application scenarios and the demanding conditions in space require thorough comprehension of plenoptic cameras. For this purpose, this paper shall provide a detailed model of plenoptic cameras, which allows to derive camera parameters and optimize them with particular attention to the user requirements and to generate synthetic data. The latter can be utilized to assess the evaluation algorithms, which are not mentioned in detail in this paper. The modeling of the plenoptic camera is mainly based on the theory of geometric optics expanded by elements of diffraction optics.

The main purpose of this paper is to present the modern model of integrated corporate communication. Beside this, the authors will describe the changes occurring in the corporate environment and importance of changing the model of corporate communication. This paper also discusses the importance of implementation of the suggested model, the use of new media and effects of these changes on corporations. The approach used in this paper is the literature review. The authors explore the importance of implementation of the suggested model and the new media in corporate communication, both internal and external, addressing all the stakeholders and communication contents. The paper recommends implementation of a modern model of integrated corporate communication as a response to constant development of the new media and generation changes taking place. Practical implications: the modern model of integrated corporate communication can be used as an upgrade of the conventional communication models. This modern model empowers companies to sustain and build up the existing relationships with stakeholders, and to find out and create new relationships with stakeholders who were previously inaccessible and invisible.

The paper presents a reading of "celestinesque literature" - texts surrounding Fernando de Rojas’ famous novel 'La Celestina' (1499) - in view of the question, to what extent the term "marranism" may serve as a philological rather than a biographical category. Dealing with Stephen Gilman’s exemplary studies, the paper shows how Rojas’ text subverts some of the most important metaphorical structures used by philologists to represent "marranism" and to read "marrano literature." Celestinesque novels, on the other hand, develop their own notion of "philology:" the "love" that they narrate also reflects the "desire of the logos" that works throughout their language.

In the last decade, crowdsourcing has emerged as a new form of work organization. Crowdworking platforms as intermediaries between crowdsourcing companies and crowd workers have gained importance in this process. Currently, many of these platforms manage rather simple work systems. Using the case of the German Hamburger Hochbahn AG and the innovation platform Phantominds, this paper investigates measures necessary for crowdworking platforms to be able to manage also more complex work systems. To derive such measures, we analyze the work system of Hamburger Hochbahn and Phantominds, explore the interplay between the crowd and the platform provider and subsequently provide recommendations for companies that would like to use crowdworking platforms for the processing of work and for platform operators. With this paper, we extend current knowledge in the realms of IS, organizational theory, and platform ecosystems.

The present paper examines the relationship between prevention as an investment strategy and the perceptions about unit-linked insurance on the intention to purchase interest rate guarantees for such products. We propose a framework in which the relationship between adopting prevention as an investment strategy, and the intention to purchase interest rate guarantees is moderated by the level of financial literacy of the individual and this interaction is mediated by the perceptions regarding unit-linked insurance. We find support for our conceptual model by testing it on a sample of 1017 financial decision makers in Germany using a moderated mediation analysis. The paper therefore offers insights into the decision-making process of financial consumers in Germany and presents practical implications for designing products for age-old provision.

International audience; In this digital age of the computer, Internet, and social media and Internet of Things, e-assessments have become an accepted method to determine if students have learned materials presented in a course. With acceptance of this electronic means of assessing students, many questions arise about this method. What should be the format of e-assessment? What amount of time? What kinds of questions should be asked (multiple choice, short answer, etc.)? These are only a few of the many different questions. In addition, educators have always had to contend with the possibility that some students might cheat on an examination. It is widely known that students are often times more technologically savvy than their professors. So how does one prevent students from cheating on an e-assessment? Understandably, given the amount of information available on e-assessments and the variety of formats to choose from, choosing to administer e-assessments over paper-based assessments can lead to confusion on the part of the professor. This paper presents helpful guidance for lecturers who want to introduce e-assessments in their class, and it provides recommendations about the technical infrastructure to implement to avoid students cheating. It is based on literature review, on an international survey that gathers insights and experiences from lecturers who are using e-assessment in their class, and on technological evaluation of e-assessment infrastructure.

The syntactic parser ARTEMIS (Automatically Representing Text Meaning via an Interlingua-based System) is a prototype intended to process natural language within the environment of the Functional Grammar Knowledge Base (FunGramKB) (Perinan-Pascual & Arcas-Tunez, 2010). Different from other parsing devices, ARTEMIS is grounded on two functional linguistic models: Role and Reference Grammar (RRG) (Van Valin & La Polla, 1997; Van Valin, 2005) and the Lexical Constructional Model (LCM) (Ruiz de Mendoza & Mairal Uson, 2008). However, certain adjustments have to be made to both models in order to meet the requirements derived from the fact that ARTEMIS follows the paradigm of Unification Grammars, in such a way that to comply with this paradigm, the GDE (Grammar Development Environment) within ARTEMIS needs to integrate two types of constructs: a catalogue of Attribute-Value Matrixes (AVMs) to describe grammatical units, and a set of production rules (grammatical, lexical and constructional) to allow it to produce a feature based grammar. It is the aim of this paper to give an overview of the investigation carried out so far within ARTEMIS in relation to these two aspects. We will do so by revisiting the literature in relation to the adjustments made to the linguistic models, especially to the RRG, and by reviewing the efforts made to describe the units and design the rules necessary for the parsing of simple sentences in English. Our paper will conclude by pointing at prospective research needed for the completion of this project.

This article generally discusses the role marketing strategies play in promoting the nonprofit sector in its efforts to reach out and engage its audiences. Many nonprofit organizations consider the use of tactical marketing strategy as useful and essential. The success of the nonprofit sector is related to the wider environment in which it operates, such as the political, economic, socio-cultural and technological. Therefore, a carefully designed marketing strategy can help the nonprofit sector properly address the needs of the different target groups. The purpose of this paper is to explore ways in which marketing ideas and strategies are created and implemented in the non-profit sector and the tools used to achieve its mission. Part of this process is to determine how management in nonprofit organizations views marketing, as well as challenges and opportunities related to the marketing efforts. In-depth interviews were conducted with senior representatives of organizations active in the media and journalism field and the results were processed with the software Atlas.ti. Analysis of secondary data, including findings from past research, documents, and different publications, is also used to elaborate the research problem. The article found out that even though there is an understanding of the importance of strategic communication in marketing operations, still it is not practiced sufficiently due to the lack of human resources and finances. The implications of these findings are discussed in detail in the article.
