Metaphors constitute one of the basic elements used in communication, which essentially aims to persuade. When examined in terms of the characteristics they carry, metaphors fall within the realm of implicit meanings. Metaphors are used by individuals within specific contexts. In this context, the use of metaphors aims to concretize abstract concepts in the target person’s mind, thereby strengthening their understanding. Numerous studies encompassing metaphors in communication have been conducted, addressing metaphors from various perspectives. However, research on the use of metaphors by Hacı Bektaş Velî has remained limited in the realm of communication studies. In this study, metaphors used by Hacı Bektaş Velî in his work ‘Makalat,’ specifically in his classifications of individuals as ‘âbid’ (worshipper), ‘zahid’ (ascetic), ‘arif’ (mystic), and ‘muhip’ (lover) concerning the understanding of human existence, are analyzed through the method of critical metaphor analysis. The metaphors used in the study are first classified ontologically and conceptually, and then their usage is evaluated in terms of the meanings they convey. The findings indicate that Hacı Bektaş Velî employed metaphors to concretize abstract concepts and expressions in order to strengthen the meaning of the message he intended to convey and create a more effective resonance in the human mind. In this semantic communication effort, it is observed that ontological and conceptual metaphors are used together. Moreover, it is evident that the metaphors in ‘Makalat’ were consciously selected. Additionally, within the framework of the four-element theory, which is among the theories defining human creation, metaphors involving references to elements such as fire, air, water, and earth are frequently employed.

Das Projekt „Sichere Gabe von Chemotherapeutika“ am Universitätsklinikum Essen zielt darauf ab, die Sicherheit der Chemotherapiebehandlung durch aktive Einbeziehung der Patient:innen zu verbessern. Hierzu wurden Patient:innen zu ihren Erfahrungen und Wünschen im Hinblick auf die Einbeziehung in die Chemotherapiebehandlung befragt. Dabei wurden die häufigsten Fehler bei der Gabe von Chemotherapeutika identifiziert. Es wurde ein patientenadaptierter Therapieplan mit den wichtigsten Informationen zur Chemotherapie entwickelt. Aus dem Projekt konnte gelernt werden, dass die Einbeziehung der Patient:innen in die Chemotherapiebehandlung ein wichtiger Ansatz zur Verbesserung der Patientensicherheit ist, weiter zeigt sich, wie dies erfolgreich umgesetzt werden kann. Weitere Forschung ist notwendig, um die besten Methoden zur Einbeziehung von Patient:innen in die Behandlung zu identifizieren.

This article presents a theory of communication for media and a related model that aim at explaining how communication is a process comprising various areas of human existence, while its manifestation in the voice is a concrete performance with a pertaining power. In Aristotle we find a scholar who described with the logos a faculty present in the human mind and speech, but his writings allow to reconstruct a more comprehensive perspective on the voice with the distinction between the modes of speaking and saying. In order to show this communication process we employ the concepts of mediation, enmediation, and remediation and the modes of speaking and saying in the Aristotelian tradition, we develop our model of a voice-centered theory of communication for media that comprises the for the voice permeable intrapersonal, interpersonal, and extrapersonal areas of communication.

This article provides, first, a description then an analysis of the overall framework of a communication situation on X/Twitter. By opting for an analysis according to the model of settings of Brown and Fraser, we identify the contours of the notion of reception as a component of the more developed diagram of communication. Apart from the particularities marking computer-mediated communications, the analysis we carried out allows us to dissect the context and reveals how reception must be adapted to interaction on Twitter.

Technology integration has fundamentally transformed education, particularly in the field of second language (L2) acquisition. This experimental study explores the effectiveness of various digital tools and media—including online courses, educational applications, and multimedia resources—in enhancing English language skills among L2 learners. By leveraging technology, language learning becomes more flexible, personalised, and engaging, fostering active participation through virtual classrooms and real-time feedback mechanisms. This approach which is called adaptive learning cultivates a stimulating environment that encourages student engagement and motivation. Despite the advantages of digital tools, speaking anxiety remains a significant barrier for many L2 learners. This study posits that digital teaching methods can mitigate this challenge by facilitating dynamic and flexible communication; thereby, enhancing overall language proficiency in the digital age. The research involved a sample of 120 first-year B.A. English Literature students from eight Arts and Science Colleges in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu, India. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were conducted on the data collected from the participating institutions. Descriptive analyses highlighted students' experiences and preferences for tools such as PowerPoint presentations, multimedia content, Padlet, and Edmodo. Inferential analysis, employing t- tests, revealed significant improvements in students' language skills attributable to digital teaching interventions. The findings reveal substantial enhancements in both productive and receptive language skills among EFL learners, underlining the positive outcomes of digital interventions. This study underscores the transformative potential of digital tools in L2 education, advocating for a shift towards a more technologically enriched educational landscape that prepares learners for the demands of the modern world. It contributes valuable insights into leveraging digital technologies to advance language education, advocating for their integration across diverse academic disciplines in literature, arts, and humanities.

The paper deals with a pre-logical communication contrasted to verbal interaction founded on logical grounds. The material for the study includes archaic incantations, modern superstitions and poetic texts. The methods of interpretative and intentional analysis have been applied. A pre-logical communication is based on the establishment of relations between objects or events devoid of cause-and-effect relationship in reality. Such conceptualization has been described, explained and terminologically fixed as participation by L. Lévy-Bruhl. It is characteristic of a magic worldview which historically precedes logical reality, but remains up to now in certain types of discourse. Psychologically, such explanation is a biased generalization of accidental connection between things. However, such illogical reality representation has a right to exist as it helps people explain the unexplainable. Semiotically it corresponds to transaction of iconic signs to signals or indices. Three types of pre-logical explanation of events in everyday life have been described in this paper, i.e. diagnostic, prognostic and magical. A pre-logical communication in literary discourse may be understood as a demonstration of universal interconnection of things and events making a whole worldview. This interconnection is based on multiple associations and intertextual allusions. Three types of pre-logical worldview may be singled out as creative, metaphoric and intertextual multiplication of reality. A deliberate usage of pre-logical communication in scientific, pedagogical, legal and political types of discourse may be qualified as a manipulative influence, whereas when used in everyday, advertising, recreational and artistic communication it is determined by the intention to broaden the limits of a routine existence.

The article presents the results of the analysis of the communicative portrait of an online-teacher, conducted as part of the study of distance learning discourse. The authors analyzed more than 30 recordings of practical classes in various disciplines related to the study of the English language in the distant format. As a result, four types of digital communicative portraits of a teacher were identified: virtual communicative portrait, non-verbal communicative portrait, emotive and cognitive communicative portrait, and professional and competent communicative portrait, their main characteristics are considered and the strategies underlying the creation of each type of portrait are explored. The current study was carried out in the context of studying the discourse of distance learning. Under distance learning discourse the authors mean a special form of interaction between a teacher and a student, occurring remotely, organized with the help of information technologies (the use of which can transform the emotional, mental and motivational components of the human personality), which also has a multimodal nature, making education more inclusive and accessible, and carried out with the direct methodological and program support of the educational institution in which the teacher works and the student studies. Speaking about the methodological support of an educational institution, the authors take into account the trend towards glocalization of academic course programs, aimed at creating meaningful connections between the global context and local culture, making education relevant and meaningful for students. The analysis made it possible not only to form a holistic idea of the digital communicative portrait of a teacher, but also to record modern requirements for a teacher working in the era of digitalization, glocalization and the development of distance learning.

Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novels resonate with the vibes of the current epoch: the fundamental issues that his personages tried to fathom are as relevant now as they were in the XIX century. The problem of communication is one of such issues: oral verbal interaction between people is one of the most disputed problems in modern humanities. The authors relied on the systematic approach, as well as on hermeneutical, analytical, and statistical methods, to analyze the peculiarities of verbal communication in F. M. Dostoevsky’s Demons. The analysis covered the way the author introduced the main characters (Daria Shatova, Pyotr Verkhovensky, Stavrogin, Lebyadkin, Marya Lebyadkina, Kirillov) through their speech and made it possible to build their speech profiles. As for the forms and functions of speech communication, the authors believe that F. M. Dostoevsky understood the need for human communication as fundamental and urgent. The writer tested his personages for this need: it was through interpersonal communication that Dostoevsky’s characters manifested their existence and attitudes.

Objectives: Teaching communication skills plays a pivotal role in medical curricula. The aim of this article is to describe and evaluate a new communication curriculum developed at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Augsburg (KomCuA), which was conceptualized by an interdisciplinary team based on recommended quality standards (i.e., helical, integrated, longitudinal).Methods: A total of 150 medical students enrolled in the 1, 3, and ≥5 semester participated in the study. They completed an online survey (numerical rating scales and validated questionnaires) evaluating their current communication skills, how these developed across the curriculum in terms of quality and self-confidence, and how helpful they considered practicing in small group tutorials with simulated patients. The students’ attitudes towards communication and empathy in the context of medical care were additionally assessed. The students’ responses were compared across semesters using one-way univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA).Results: Overall, students reported improved communications skills due to attending the KomCuA and further considered practicing with simulated patients as being very helpful (large effect sizes). Compared to 1 semester students, 3 and ≥5 semester students reported better communication skills (medium to large effect sizes). Additionally, ≥5 semester students showed stronger agreement towards the relevance of empathy in the context of medical care (medium effect size) compared to both 1 and 3 semester students. Conclusion: The KomCuA has shown to be an effective communication curriculum to support medical students in the development of their communication skills and positive attitudes towards empathy. Additional studies assessing students’ communication skills and empathic attitudes longitudinally are warranted to confirm the present results and to gain further knowledge on how these essential skills and attitudes develop across medical curricula.

Information technology's rapid development necessitates continuously updating IT professionals' skills and competencies. This study aims to select appropriate project management ICT tools to facilitate the informal education of IT company employees. The study utilized the expert evaluation method to formulate criteria and indicators for evaluating and selecting ICT tools across six categories: communication, planning, documentation, visualization and collaboration, software development, and real-time presentation feedback. Experts from leading IT companies assessed and ranked the proposed ICT tools based on the established criteria. The results identified Microsoft Teams for communication, Microsoft Project for planning, Microsoft 365 suite for documentation, Mural for visualization and collaboration, Azure DevOps for software development, and Mentimeter for real-time presentation feedback as the most suitable tools for informal education in IT companies. The selected ICT tools constitute a comprehensive toolkit to streamline educational activities and enhance informal learning experiences for IT professionals. The findings provide a foundation for implementing informal education programs within IT company resources, leveraging the selected project management ICT tools.

As technology and civilisation progress, the communication of technical data is gradually shifting away from the domain of specialists in the field. Automotive technology, the subject of the research project described below, can be seen as an example of this. Motor vehicles, regardless of their power sources, are consolidating its position as the second most expensive type of consumer goods after real estate. It is just one of the reasons for its importance. Vehicles with one, two or more engines have always had to be as efficient as possible. This also applies to the communication processes involved. This state of affairs entails the avoidance of redundant messages and the use of technical terms that lead to all participants in the communication process wanting to call the same thing by a given technical word. What this means is the existence of a vocabulary that is as uniform as possible, lemmatised in technical dictionaries and accepted by specialists in the field. The following article refers to a study in which an attempt was made to check how the target situation outlined above compares with the actual situation, i.e. the current state of affairs. In the context of the translation process, an analysis was made not only of the translations, but also of the process that led to their production. This gave the translator a central position.

İnsan hakları, tüm bireylerin hiçbir ayrım gözetmeksizin yalnızca insan olmalarından dolayı eşit ve özgür yaşama hakkına sahip olması, cinsiyet, ırk, dil, din ve yaş gibi farklılıklar gözetmeksizin kanun önünde eşittir anlayışını savunmaktadır. Her ne kadar insan hakları evrensel beyannamesinde herkesin eşit olduğu dile getirilse de ve ülkelerin büyük bir çoğunluğu tarafından kabul edilse de geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde de özellikle ataerkil yapıya sahip toplumlarda kadın üzerinde erkek egemenliğinin söz konusu olduğu bilinmektedir. Bu çalışma ile iletişim bilimleri literatüründe Türkiye’de gerçekleştirilen ilk beş doktora çalışmasında Peltekoğlu (1988) ve Akgün (1993) kadın haklarının gelişiminin kadın yazar ve gazetecilerin varlığına yani basın aracılığıyla kadın haklarının gelişebileceğine vurgu yaparken, kadının toplumdaki konumunun varlığı ise eğitime bağlı olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Işınbark (1992) ve Kırlar’ın (1994) ise, TV programları ve TV reklamlarının kadın üzerindeki etkilerine odaklanmışlardır. Her iki yazarda TV sektörünün ve reklam piyasasının hayatlarını idame etmesinin ötesinde kadını bir meta olarak görmesi ve kadın üzerinden toplumu yönlendirmesi TV’nin toplum üzerinde önemli bir baskı ve yönlendirici aygıt olduğunu göstermektedir. Son olarak Yapar (1999) Fransa ve Türkiye’de kadın dergilerini karşılaştırdığı araştırmada, dergilerin geçmişte kadın hakları için mücadele verdikleri ancak sonraları ekonominin öncü konuma gelmesiyle temelinde toplumu tüketime sevk eden erkek egemen bir bakışın olduğu ifade edilmektedir. Bu çalışmalarda dönemin kitle iletişim araçları aracılığıyla toplumsal gelişme ve kadın çizgisinde reklam-kadın, TV proğramları-kadın ve dergi- kadın gibi ikili ilişkilerin detaylı bir şekilde ortaya konulması ve dönemin etkili kitle iletişim aracı olarak görülen TV’nin yanı sıra gazete ve dergi içeriklerini kadın profilinden aktarması ve dönemin ruhunu yansıtma çabası önemli bir ayrıntı olarak görülmelidir.

With the recent surge in the number of countries willing to repatriate and reintegrate their citizens from camps in Iraq and Syria, policymakers and practitioners around the world are revisiting their approaches to the management of foreign terrorist fighter (FTF) returnees and their families. FTF management policy and practice has significantly evolved in the last decade driven by a growing body of empirical research and a greater awareness of best practices. Despite these advancements, the role of strategic communications in FTF repatriation and reintegration is too-often absent or, at best, underappreciated, by scholars, policymakers, and practitioners alike. Yet, interviews with policymakers and practitioners in this field reveals that they are often directly (e.g. as spokespeople) and/or indirectly (e.g. advising to public figures) engaged in public messaging. Without appropriate policy cover and practical guidance, public messaging risks becoming an inadvertent amplifier of policy missteps, public misunderstandings, and malign influence activities. This policy paper argues for an approach to strategic communication in FTF management that is multidimensional, integrated, adaptable, and crosscutting. To these ends, it offers a framework of guiding principles for strategic communication in FTF management that is relevant for both policymakers in government and practitioners in non-government roles.

The ancient city of Pompeii presents a wide range of mosaic-floors that drew inspiration from both the Hellenistic tradition and its Roman successor. By the time the city was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D. 79, a number of atrium-houses were decorated with mosaic-floors, although this floor type never surpassed the more popular version of the cement floors. A certain group of mosaics, found particularly in the entrances (fauces in Latin) of the atrium-houses, have, despite their multifaceted and interesting motifs, not been systematically studied before. In her dissertation, and in this article, the author studies the role of mosaics in the communication between different spheres, the inside and the outside world, through a liminal space: the entrance. The different mosaic patterns may be categorised in various ways, for example as geometric or figurative. The main technique of the 30 or so mosaics is the use of black-and-white tesserae although some present polychrome elements. The over-arching theme is that of a welcome but in some instances warnings are also issued (Cave canem, as stated in one of the mosaics), and in others, the status of the house owner is the main message. Moreover, references to everyday life seem more important in the entrances than associations to the divine and religious sphere. All in all, the preservation of both the mosaics as such (many were around hundred years old by the time of the eruption), and the fact that many of the patterns were used over long periods, suggest that certain designs were considered appropriate and meaningful in both Hellenistic and Roman contexts.

Interprofessional collaborative learning is the interaction of health and/or social care professionals and/or students who are learning from service users’ clinical data. Digital solutions in primary care facilitate interactive communication. This systematic review aims to identify which digital solutions can facilitate the participation of health service users in collaborative learning for interprofessional service providers, and how service users can participate with the use of digital solutions.

Background: This article represents the conclusion of the updated German status report on climate change and health, which was jointly written by authors from over 30 national institutions and organisations. The objectives are (a) to synthesise the options for action formulated in the report, (b) to combine them into clusters and guiding principles, (c) to address the success factors for implementation, and (d) to combine the options for action into target parameters. Methods: The options for action from the individual contributions of the status report were systematically recorded and categorised (n=236). Topical clusters were then formed with reference to Essential Public Health Functions, and options for action were assigned to them. Results: Eight topical clusters of options for action and ten guiding principles were identified. These can be summarised in four overarching meta-levels of action: (a) cross-sectorally coordinated structural and behavioural prevention, (b) monitoring, surveillance, and digitalisation (including early warning systems), (c) development of an ecologically sustainable and resilient public health system, and (d) information, communication, and participation. The main success factors for implementation are the design of governance, positive storytelling and risk communication, proactive management of conflicting goals, and a cross-sectoral co-benefit approach. Conclusions: Based on the status report, systematically compiled target parameters and concrete options for action are available for public health.

Background: The German status report on climate change and health 2023 identifies numerous health risks that are caused or exacerbated by climate change. One recommendation arising from the report is to strengthen education, information, and communication in the field. This article aims to serve as a basis for this. Methods: Based on four survey waves (2022/2023) of the PACE study (Planetary Health Action Survey, n=3,845, online), the status of risk perception as well as the Readiness to Act against climate change in the adult population in Germany is examined and a target group analysis is carried out. Results: Some health risks due to the climate crisis are perceived as comparatively low (e.g. mental health problems). People with higher risk perception show a higher Readiness to Act. Younger people, men, people with low education, and those living in smaller communities are identified as relevant target groups as they have a lower Readiness to Act. One third state that they never or hardly ever seek out specific information on climate change. Media use differs depending on target group. Conclusions: Target group-specific communication can help to educate people about the health impacts of the climate crisis. In the discussion of this article, implications from existing literature are discussed in detail, which offer practical guidance for effective climate change communication.

The theory of post-truth and the conviction that absolute objective truth does not exist have many supporters in the modern world. A lie seen from this point of view appears to be one of the many ways people contact each other. The conducted research shows that this reasoning is incorrect. It proves that a lie is a reality that destroys those who have been lied to and those who are lying, as well as other people who are found in their environment. A lie drives people away from the truth, replacing it with untruth. In this way, it strikes a person and disturbs the order in one’s social environment. Thus, it becomes an anthropological destruction. This creates an “alternative world” that “competes” with God’s created world. Also, by rejecting God’s call to live according to the truth, man moves away from God and draws closer to Satan. The world “created” by a liar is not appropriate to human nature, it cannot become a space for his development, but is only regression and, consequently, destructive. The matter of lying and its consequences appear to be very topical today when the “power of disinformation” is being revealed more and more clearly.

Human communication means the transmission of informational content from one person to another. Information can be powerful, new, interesting, but we often encounter messages with quite limited informational content, with a limited area of interest, where often factual elements are combined with speculation or even fiction, lying also being a constant of communication. Everyone communicates, and specialists in the field are few. The result of message exchange depends on many factors, from data quality to the professionalism of the sender and the disposition of the end receiver. Under these circumstances, professional communication can be successfully achieved when specialists in the field manage to avoid pitfalls arising on the route of information exchange. It all starts with collecting the information that will be contained in the message, in the communication product. The operation shall be carried out according to clear rules, in order to avoid or reduce distortions. The purpose of this study is to present the prerequisites for the information gathering process.

The nature of the relationship between the state structures that administer power regardless of its political determination and the ideological actions of political actors is not a very frequent topic, this is because it is considered that there is no reaction of public institutions and authorities to the actions of politicians or that the relationship between the two levels of power is easy to harmonize. Political action and the institutions of power are, as a rule, seen together as part of the dialog with the public of politics, that is citizens or more precisely civil society. Our approach highlights a less visible or commented aspects, that of the dialogue between „political power” and „administrative power”, in other words, between the political formula of the government and the „deep state”, the latter more or less consolidated, having as a determining variable the age and quality of democracy.

The printed format of information has been replaced by digital tools which have acquired a particular importance for learners and information users in the 21st century. Developing digital literacy and encouraging information dissemination through various channels, videos, visuals etc., have also become a relevant part of the teaching environment, especially in higher education. The right selection of the communication content by means of digital tools is equally significant to provide a high-quality teaching act in ESP classes. The present work aims to highlight how digital literacy contributes to a better and more creative educational setting. At the same time, the variety of tools used to disseminate information is even more valuable as it helps to develop critical thinking and contributes to the engagement of students in a more inspiring and motivating learning environment.

Communication involves a host of factors, being embedded in the broad sociocultural context in which messages are conveyed. Several theoretical frameworks have been proposed concerning patterns of communication and the way(s) they differ according to culture. Our paper draws on Hall’s (1976) key notions of low-context and high-context cultures, coupled with strategies of explicitation and implicitation. Our analysis focuses on the extent to which communicators rely on “context” to overtly state something in low-context cultures, or to covertly render a message in high-context cultures. Accordingly, we aim to highlight that culture-specific ways of communication are typically reflected in the use of phrases and/or idiomatic expressions that count as allusions (historical, literary, etc.) or opaque culture-specific items.

The article is based on the need to improve interpersonal coexistence and cooperation in the family, work and society, and to improve communication. Dialogue is the essence of quality communication in words, behaviour and actions. The article breaks down its basic components: human awareness, the fundamental need to connect and the capacity to communicate. The article briefly discusses the methodology for developing a dialogic relationship and considers what a person can do when dialogue and coexistence tragically fall apart. This is followed by an overview of the work of Anton Trstenjak in terms of dialogue and coexistence, revealing several components and conditions for dialogue. His most known book Among People has five topical chapters: two on relations between generations, two on relations between the sexes and one on relations between neighbours.

Held in German captivity in Oflag II C Woldenberg, Polish officers used their communication skills not only in everyday life, but also to create. Theatrical plays, poems, prose and other literary genres were created in the camp, showing the artistry of their creators, but also the emotions that accompanied them during their stay in the camp. Correspondence - Kriegsgefangenepost - was the only manner of communication with the outside world; it was an important element of the prisoner’s existence as it raised a possibility of transmitting important information, as well as obtaining it through contact with loved ones. The POWs, despite the great limitations resulting from their stay in captivity, were able to write and publish books and magazines, some of which have survived to this day, constituting interesting documents related to the legacy of the POW community. The study presents the meaning of the written and spoken word in the POW community of Oflag II C Woldenberg.

A foreign language learner´s major goal is to be able to efficiently communicate in different situations. In traditional face-to-face classrooms, language lessons are planned to allow students with opportunities to practice and develop their communication skills through interaction with the materials and among peers. One of the main challenges of English language teaching is to permit the same opportunities for practice when a language course is delivered online, for that reason, the instructional design plays an essential role to allow effective communicative practice. The present article explains the limitations faced in the English language subjects in terms of the learning activities, materials, interaction, and evaluation in the Bachelor's Degree program in Marketing and the Bachelor's degree in Educational Technology, online programs offered at the Autonomous University of Hidalgo State. This work also describes the actions that were taken to redesign these online courses so they could meet the English language communication needs of the students.

In the study, it was possible to carry out an overview of modern theories of communications revolutions and demonstrate their importance in transforming the foundations of the development of the corresponding social architecture, social institutions, including science, etc. In this analysis, we used the methodological approaches of the philosophy of history, communicative philosophy, social and political philosophy, and the philosophy of science. At the same time, the revolutionary scale of changes and the depth of their impact on society lead to the fact that humanity is forced to abandon the naive-romantic attitude to science (to rationalism as such), which was characteristic of the world at the beginning of the 20th century when it seemed that science was able to overcome all troubles and mistakes of both the physical and social world. That is why the current task of philosophy remains the study of the phenomenon of modern science as a communicative phenomenon of the dynamic 21st century. Industry 4.0 is a heuristic methodological framework for understanding the perspectives of civilizational shifts and re-configuration of communicative processes in science communication, taking into account the approaches of technical and public deliberation. We tended to demonstrate the profound polemical nature of the understanding of the revolutionary nature of social changes and the presence of a wide range of typologies of revolutions (scientific, industrial, communications ones).

Since the "communicative turn" planning research has been intensively concerned with how conflicts should and are dealt with. Approaches of "agonistic" planning theory contradict the normative premise of building consensus among planning participants. Rather, they want to make conflicting positions normatively fruitful for spatial development. At the same time, they emphasise a supposed duality of planning and protest, which is questioned in recent protest and movement theory. Building on a discussion of different approaches in planning and protest theory as well as an empirical analysis of planning-related protests in Germany, this paper shows that these protests are increasingly perceived as "normality" by planning actors and that antagonistic participation remains culturally bounded despite increasing conflictuality and the supposed questioning of representative democracy. Protest action is part of differentiated "participation bundles" that, depending on the situation, also include public participation, direct democratic referenda and lawsuits. Protesters usually pursue a reform-oriented agenda that does not require "taming". However, the underlying conflicts often cannot be "resolved" at all. Planners, on the other hand, may have rationalist and deliberative approaches at their disposal even within an agonistic planning environment, which they use situationally and strategically. Not only once have we learned about the parasitic, mimetic structure of a translation, or the inauthenticity of the invisible translator, a performer without a stage, as Robert Wechsler would describe it. Yet, beyond such a shallow disparaging perspective, (good) translation obviously means art, being shaped by the translator’s expertise, talent and imagination, and resembling a creative Lego game rather than an already set puzzle game, hence its uniqueness. The present study aims to briefly highlight certain key-concepts in this ambiguity-fraught domain, such as abusive fidelity, domestication and foreignization (covert and overt translation) or culture-bound terms, the so-called culturemes. Mainly relying on practical illustrations, encountered while translating a series of jokes from the German language into Romanian, during a translation course within the Leipzig University, the article will focus on the ludic aspect of translation, which paradoxically does not always trigger a laughter on the part of the translator, sometimes faced not only with difficulties, but with impossible equivalences. Ultimately, the study will try to justify the reasons for which communicative translation should prevail over the semantic translation or why an authentic target-language text proves superior to a faithful-to-the-source-text translation.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the video blog as a genre of Internet communication. The purpose of the study is to identify the communicative and pragmatic parameters of the natural sciences video blog. The topicality of the research is firstly determined by the characteristics of the Internet discourse as an active genre-generating space; secondly – by the intensive distribution of the video blog (a modern creolized text); and thirdly – by the lack of a scientific description of this communicative-discursive phenomenon. Various research methods were used, e.g. a complex linguistic description (generalization techniques, interpretation, classification of linguistic facts) and a linguopragmatic approach to the analysis of speech phenomena. The paper discusses the main features of the Internet discourse, genre specifics of the blog and its video content, in particular. The research material is presented by the creolized texts of the video blog “SuperCrastan” by Daniil Craster, which were published on the Youtube channel (52 units for the year of 2022). The communicative and pragmatic parameters of the natural sciences video blog are described at various levels: media, compositional and semantic, linguistic and pragmatic. At the media level, the text of the video blog is considered from the point of view of the degree of creolization, the dominant topic, the method of transmitting and creating the content, the structuring of the video blog: multimedia, hypertextuality, interactivity, synchronicity / asynchronicity of communication. At the compositional and semantic levels, the main types of the video blog are presented; the tendency to blending of types is noted. At the linguistic and pragmatic levels, the analysis involved: communication intentions, the strategies and tactics of their implementation; the speech peculiarities of the impact on the addressee at the phonetic-graphic, lexical and grammatical levels. The main result of the research is a comprehensive description of the communicative and pragmatic parameters of the natural sciences video blog. The research contributes to the development of the theory of Internet discourse in general and of its genre structure, in particular.

Fixed combinations of words, which are the subject of phraseology research, are characterized by different functions in communication. The topic of the use of phraseological units in certain texts or text types, i.e. their pragmatic potential, was examined in the work of Koller (1977) or Gülich (1978) at the end of the 1970s. The aim of the article is to discuss the results of a new publication from this area by Lüger/Bergerová/Schuppener (2021). It is an anthology that is divided into two thematic areas: phrasemes and their productivity as well as phrasemes in the text and in the discourse, and is rounded off with two reviews of current phraseological works. The collective monograph comprises a total of ten articles in which the problem of the communicative potential of phrases is examined from different perspectives. Various types of text are examined for the use of phraseologisms and their role in communication, e.g. press articles, multimodal online texts, advertisements, press horoscopes, election campaign speeches, etc. Depending on their own research goal and method, the authors concentrate in their investigations on a phrase or analyze the general occurrence of phraseologisms in a specific text. The contributions presented in the volume are not committed to a uniform methodology or material basis, which in this sense can be regarded as a great advantage. This is the basis of the variety of perspectives and the broad insight into the topic.

An organization's ability to achieve its goals depends largely on the performance of its employees, so focused and productive employees are a valuable asset for success in a highly competitive environment. This study examines the influence of communication, work motivation, and environment on employee performance, with work discipline as a mediating variable. The sample of this study is all employees of the Planning and Finance Section of the Regional Secretariat of Prabumulih City (South Sumatra, Indonesia), totaling 47 people. Data analysis was performed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method in three stages: a. Outer model analysis; b. Inner model analysis; c. Hypothesis test. The results of this study indicate that the factors chosen by the authors, namely communication, work motivation, work environment, and work discipline, affect employees' performance. In addition, communication through work discipline can improve employee performance, as seen in employees who improve task coordination, try to solve problems together, share information, and build relationships through joint activities. Work motivation through work discipline can improve employee performance, as seen in employees who get bonuses for good work results. The work environment through work discipline can improve employee performance if the building where employees work meets safety standards and employees maintain good relations with co-workers. Hence, an organization should pay attention to each factor to increase employee productivity. An organization's policy on human resource management should be comprehensive – it should include an analysis of the factors discussed in this study and many other factors.

The linguistic situation of French in Algeria has been in serious decline. However, despite the devaluing clichés, as the language of the coloniser, compared to Arabic, which has received considerable support since the reform of Arabisation (1976), the French language persists and is widely used in society. In addition, its use in administration and education has gained momentum, especially with the reform (2010) which gives it a prominent place in official texts as the first foreign language, a language of discovery and development. Without question, the socio-historical dimension in Algeria has meant that French has become the language of technical and scientific education in Algerian universities. As a consequence, as a teacher, we have observed that university students in technical fields have difficulties in achieving communicative competence in the context of teaching/learning French with specific objective.
