Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide, using the electricity generated from renewable energy sources, has the potential of rendering a carbon-neutral energy economy. Developing selective, efficient and robust electrocatalysts is the key step towards establishing this promising technology. While different nanostructures of Cu have been extensively studied for the formation of C1–C3 alcohols and hydrocarbons, Cu-based bimetallic catalysts showed better activity compared to monometallic Cu. In this review, we will first summarize recent advances in designing Cu-X bimetallic catalysts. We categorized the bimetallic catalysts into different groups based on the CO2 reduction activities of the ' X ' metal, including hydrogen-producing metals, formate-producing metals and CO-producing metals. The key factors in determining the selectivity are discussed. Additionally, representative examples of Cu-free bimetallic catalysts, with appreciable selectivity towards hydrocarbons/alcohols, will also be presented. We will conclude this review with challenges and promising research directions.

Die Europäischen Mitgliedstaaten stellen fest, dass „der Klimawandel das bestimmende Thema der jetzigen Zeit ist und man sich in einem entscheidenden Moment (kritischen Stadium) befindet". Wissenschaftliche Studien unterstützen die Anschauung, dass die Gesellschaft inmitten einer Klimakrise befindet. Der effiziente, weltweite und faire Kampf gegen den Klimawandel ist eine der größten Herausforderungen vor denen die Menschheit je stand. Ein wissenschaftlicher Ansatz ist unerlässlich, um die Welt und deren Bürger vor dem Klimawandel zu retten. Die vorliegende Arbeit bewertet und beurteilt bestehende und zukünftige österreichische Maßnahmen zur Reduktion der Treibhausgasemissionen. In dieser Arbeit werden nicht nur die bestehenden Verbrauchsteuern, sondern auch die Um weltsteuern einer rigorosen Analyse unterzogen. Diese Arbeit bietet darüber hinaus einen Vergleich der jährlichen Steuereinnahmen und der Einnahmen, die Österreich durch die wirtschaftlichen und steuerlichen Maßnahmen erzielt hat. Mit dem Beitritt am 1. Januar 1995 zur Europäischen Union, ist es unumgänglich die europäische und nationale Ebene zu analysieren. Es wird auf die alte nationale Rechtsgrundlage eingegangen und ein kurzer europäischer Überblick über die (europäischen) CO2 Steuern gegeben. Anschließend werden die neuartigen Entwicklungen auf Unionsebene erläutert. Insbesondere wird dabei auf das Fit for 55-Paket eingegangen und die Umsetzung in die Verordnung (EU) 2021/1119 detailliert beschrieben. Weiters wird dann noch die neue Rechtsgrundlage für Drittländer insbesondere die CO2 -Grenzausgleichssteuer erläutert. Schlussendlich befasst sich die Arbeit mit den politischen Maßnahmen zur Abfederung der Energiekosten. Insbesondere wird dabei auf den Klimabonus und das Antiteuerungspaket für Privatpersonen eingegangen. Für die Unternehmer wird auch noch der Energiekostenzuschuss und die Kriterien für die Antragsstellung erläutert. The European Member States state that "climate change is the defining issue of the present time and we are at a crucial moment (critical stage)". Scientific studies support the view that society is in the midst of a climate crisis. The efficient, global and fair fight against climate change is one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced. A scientific approach is essential to save the world and its citizens from climate change. This thesis evaluates and assesses existing and future Austrian measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this work, not only existing excise taxes but also environmental taxes are subjected to rigorous analysis. This work also provides a comparison of annual tax revenues and the revenues that Austria has generated through economic and tax measures. With the accession on January 1, 1995 to the European Union, it is inevitable to analyze the European and national level. The old national legal basis is discussed and a short European overview of the (European) CO2 taxes is given. Afterwards, the new developments on the Union level will be explained. In particular, the Fit for 55 package is discussed and its implementation in Regulation (EU) 2021/1119 is described in detail. Furthermore, the new legal basis for third countries, in particular the CO2 border adjustment tax, is explained. Finally, the paper deals with the political measures to cushion the energy costs. In particular, the climate bonus and the anti-taxation package for private individuals are discussed. For entrepreneurs, the energy cost subsidy and the criteria for applying for it are also explained. Diese Bachelorarbeit mit dem Titel „Sanierung von Bestandsgebäuden – Alternativen zur Gasversorgung“ beschäftigt sich mit einer sehr aktuellen Problematik und hat zum Ziel, den Austausch bestehender Gasheizungen in Wien aus der ökologischen und ökonomischen Perspektive zu beleuchten und die Forschungsfrage: „Wie können all die bestehenden Gasthermen in Bestandsgebäuden im Wohnbausektor ersetzt werden, um die Energiewende zu schaffen?“ zu beantworten. Zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfrage wurden verschiedene Literaturquellen in Form von Fachbüchern, Studien und Artikel von öffentlichen Einrichtungen herangezogen. Hierbei wird aufgezeigt, welche klimafreundlichen Alternativen auf welche Art und Weise in welcher Ausgangssituation zum Einsatz kommen können. Durch eine Gegenüberstellung mit Kostenaufstellung und Vor- und Nachteilen der alternativen Systeme wird eine Bewertung auf ökologischer und ökonomischer Ebene durchgeführt. Basierend auf den gewonnenen Erkenntnissen werden zur Erweiterung des Blickwinkels die Herausforderungen aufgezeigt und bereits geplante und realisierte Beispiele aus Wien vorgestellt. In der Schlussfolgerung werden die Beobachtungen zusammengefasst und erläutert, ob und inwiefern der Ersatz der bestehenden Gasthermen hinsichtlich der Energiewende, geschafft werden kann. This bachelor’s thesis with the title “Refurbishment of existing buildings - Alternatives to gas supply” deals with the problem while looking at the replacement of existing gas heaters in Vienna from an ecological and economic perspective and to address the research question: “How can all the existing gas heaters in existing residential building sector be replaced in order to manage the energy transition?” Various sources of literature in the form of books, studies and articles form public institutions were used to answer the research question. In that way, it is shown, which climate-friendly alternatives can be used in which way and in which initial situation. By comparing the costs and advantages and disadvantages of the alternative systems, an evaluation is carried out on an ecological and economic level. Based on the insights gained, the challenges are highlighted to broaden the perspective and already planned and implemented examples from Vienna are presented. The conclusion summarizes the observations und explains, whether and to what extent the replacement of existing gas heater can be achieved regarding the energy transition.

In today’s societies, climate-damaging and finite fossil resources such as oil and natural gas serve a dual purpose as energy source and as carbon source for chemicals and plastics. To respond to the finite availability and to meet international climate goals, a change to a renewable energy and raw material basis is inevitable and represents a highly complex task. In this review, we assess possible technology paths for Switzerland to reach these goals. First, we provide an overview of Switzerland’s current energy demand and discuss possible renewable technologies as well as proposed scenarios to defossilize the current energy system. In here, electric vehicles and heat pumps are key technologies, whereas photovoltaics replace nuclear power to deliver clean electricity. The production of chemicals also consumes fossil resources and for Switzerland, the oil demand for imported domestically used chemicals and plastics corresponds to around 20 % of the current energetic oil demand. Thus, we additionally summarize technologies and visions for a sustainable chemical sector based on the renewable carbon sources biomass, CO2 and recycled plastic. As biomass is the most versatile renewable energy and carbon source though with a limited availability, aspects and proposed strategies for an optimal use are discussed.

Es konnte eine Grundsatzbest��tigung des Reaktionsprinzips zur Bildung eines Ni���CO22���-Adduktes durch Deprotonierung eines Ni-Formiat-Komplexes erreicht und die St��chiometrie dieser Reaktion aufgekl��rt werden. Das gebildete Ni���CO22���-Addukt ist ein strukturelles und funktionelles Modell des Ni���CO22���-Adduktes der Ni,Fe-CODH. Durch Isotopenmarkierung und die Untersuchung der Umsetzung mit CO2 konnte au��erdem die Beteiligung eines analogen Ni���CO22���-Intermediates in der Reduktion von CO2 an Ni0-Komplexen gezeigt und der Reaktionsmechanismus aufgekl��rt werden. Im zweiten Teil wird die quantitative Bildung von CO aus dem Ni���CO22���-Addukt beschrieben. Au��erdem konnten die verwandten Na+- und K+-Komplexe dargestellt und Struktur-Reaktivit��ts-Beziehungen abgeleitet werden. Durch Einsatz subst��chiometrischer Mengen des Gegenions K+ konnte kontrolliert Ni(I)- und CO2������-Chemie ausgel��st werden. Es kam zur Bildung eines Ni(I)-Formiat- und eines Ni-Oxalat-Komplexes; bei hohen Konzentrationen entstand sogar ein gemischter Ni-Oxalat-Mesoxalat-Komplex. Die Bildung von Mesoxalat (C3O64-) aus einzelnen CO2-Bausteinen war bisher nur postuliert worden. Im dritten Teil wurde ein Ni(II)-Vorl��uferkomplex jeweils mit Cobaltocen oder Decamethylcobaltocen reduziert. Es konnten die entsprechenden NiI-Verbindungen mit Cobaltocenium-Gegenionen als Feststoffe charakterisiert werden. Wurden jedoch L��sungen der entsprechenden Verbindungen untersucht, zeigte sich im Falle des Komplexes mit Cobaltoceneinheit, dass ein Redox-Gleichgewicht vorliegt, welches bei Raumtemperatur weit auf der Seite der Ausgangsverbindungen liegt und nicht den Nachweis der charakteristischen spektroskopischen Eigenschaften von Ni(I)-Verbindungen zul��sst. Dennoch reagiert die Verbindung aus dem Gleichgewicht heraus mit CO2 und als Produkt wurde ein mononuklearer Ni-Carbonat-Komplex identifiziert., A confirmation of the reaction principle for the formation of a Ni-CO22- adduct by deprotonation of a Ni formate complex was achieved and the stoichiometry of this reaction was elucidated. The Ni-CO22- adduct formed is a structural and functional model of the Ni-CO22- adduct of Ni,Fe-CODH. Isotopic labelling and investigation of the reaction with CO2 also revealed the involvement of an analogous Ni-CO22- intermediate in the reduction of CO2 on Ni0 complexes and elucidated the reaction mechanism. In the second part, the quantitative formation of CO from the Ni-CO22- adduct is described. Furthermore, the related Na+- and K+-complexes could be obtained and structure-reactivity relationships could be derived. By using sub-stoichiometric amounts of the counterion K+, Ni(I) and CO2-- chemistry could be triggered in a controlled manner. A Ni(I)-formate and a Ni--oxalate complex were formed; at high concentrations even a mixed Ni--oxalate-mesoxalate complex was formed. The formation of mesoxalate (C3O64-) from individual CO2 building blocks had previously only been postulated. In the third part, a Ni(II) precursor complex was reduced with cobaltocene or decamethylcobaltocene, respectively. It was possible to characterise the corresponding NiI compounds with cobaltocenium counterions as solids. When solutions of the corresponding compounds were examined, it was shown in the case of the complex with cobaltocenium unit that a redox equilibrium exists which is far on the side of the parent compounds at room temperature and does not allow the detection of the characteristic spectroscopic properties of Ni(I) compounds. Nevertheless, the compound reacts out of equilibrium with CO2 and a mononuclear Ni-carbonate complex was identified as the product.

39. Stellenwert der transkutanen CO���-Messung in der internistischen Notfallmedizin

Das CO2-Monitoring, die ��berwachung des Kohlenstoffdioxid-Werts, ist heute essentieller Bestandteil der Diagnosestellung und Therapiewahl in der modernen internistischen Medizin. Neben Messmethoden wie der Kapnometrie/Kapnographie und der arteriellen Blutgasanalyse als Goldstandard kommt immer h��ufiger das transkutane CO2-Monitoring zum Einsatz. Eine Methode, welche meist durch andere Methoden validiert werden muss, da die vorhandene Datenlage nach wie vor zu schwach ist, um sie als alleinige, verl��ssliche Methode f��r die klinische Entscheidungsfindung zu verwenden. Entsprechend den Einschlusskriterien der Studie wurden nach Einwilligung Daten von 60 Patienten, welche sich in station��rer Behandlung auf der Internistischen Notaufnahme und Intermediate Care Station des Universit��tsklinikums Ulm befanden, erhoben. Diese Daten umfassen verschiedene Vitalparameter zur Zustandsbeschreibung und Scoring der Patienten anhand des Apache-II-Scoring-Systems (Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation-Score). Zus��tzlich wurden transkutane CO2-Werte mit dem TCM TOSCA Monitor in Kombination mit dem TOSCA Sensor 92 erhoben. Dieses System stammt vom Hersteller Radiometer. Zeitgleich zum transkutanen Monitoring fand je Patient eine einmalige arterielle Blutgasanalyse statt, sodass die Korrelation der Messmethoden anschlie��end ermittelt werden konnte. Die Ergebnisse werden ��berwiegend durch Bland-Altman-Diagramme, die Lineare Regression, einfache Kuchen- und S��ulendiagramme sowie Tabellen dargestellt. Die zur statistischen Auswertung verwendete Software ist Graphpad Prism, Version 8.0.2. Es konnten Daten von 51 Patienten ausgewertet werden. Die Patientengruppe besitzt ein Durchschnittsalter von 69,2 Jahren und einen durchschnittlichen APACHE-II-Score von 19,5. Die Hauptdiagnosen lauten chronisch-obstruktive Lungenerkrankung (21,57 %), Pneumonie (35,29 %), kardiale Dekompensation (19,61 %). Die ��brigen 23,59 % entfielen auf ���Diverse andere Diagnosen���. Alle Patienten wurden mittels Highflow, Non-Invasive-Ventilation oder Nasenbrille beatmet. Es ergibt sich eine mittlere Abweichung der transkutanen von den arteriellen Messergebnissen von -1 mmHg. Der gr����te Messfehler liegt bei 18 mmHg. Neben diesem gibt es einzelne Messfehler bis 10 mmHg. Die Limits of Agreement liegen nach Bland-Altman bei 8,3 mmHg und -10,3 mmHg. Der Korrelationskoeffizient betr��gt 0,84. Ein Zusammenhang zwischen APACHE-II-Score und dem Ausma�� des Messfehlers der transkutanen CO2-Messung, in einem klinisch relevanten Ausma��, kann nicht nachgewiesen werden. Die Patientenkohorten anderer Studien, welche sich mit dem Thema der Korrelation von transkutan und arteriell bestimmten CO2-Werten befassen, sind mit der Kohorte dieser Studie vergleichbar. Die ermittelte allgemeine Korrelation der transkutanen und arteriellen CO2-Werte ist vergleichbar mit der vieler Vorg��ngerstudien. Einige dieser weisen eine Steigerung des Messfehlers bei h��heren arteriellen CO2-Werten nach, was hier nicht in gleichem Ausma�� der Fall ist. Keine andere Studie analysiert eine m��gliche Einflussnahme des APACHE-II-Scores, als potenziellen Surrogatparameter f��r verschiedene klinische Einflussfaktoren, auf die Korrektheit des Messergebnisses. Beachtet werden muss, dass eine Studiengruppe von 51 Probanden f��r einige Analysen keine ausreichende Signifikanz liefert. Die Studie f��hrt zum Ergebnis, dass die transkutane CO2-Messung eine arterielle Blutgasanalyse nicht ��quivalent ersetzt. Die transkutane CO2-Messung erm��glicht zwar einen potenziell letalen Anstieg des CO2-Werts mit ausreichender Sicherheit wieder zu geben, allerdings sind leichtgradige Ver��nderungen des CO2-Werts nicht hinreichend genau bestimmbar. Dies f��hrt dazu, dass eine Diagnosestellung oder auch eine Adaption der Therapie nicht singul��r anhand des transkutan ermittelten CO2-Werts stattfinden sollte. Das transkutane CO2-Monitoring kann den klinisch t��tigen Arzt unterst��tzen. Die Messergebnisse m��ssen allerdings durch eine initiale und darauffolgende arterielle Blutgasanalysen verifiziert werden.

Angesichts der immer größer werdenden Klimaveränderungen und damit verbundenen Problemstellungen werden Themen wie ‚Nachhaltigkeit‘, ‚Kreislaufwirtschaft‘ und ‚Ressourcenmanagement‘ für die Gesellschaft immer relevanter und sind daher auch im Wohnbau unumgänglich geworden. In den letzten Jahren boomte der Wohnbau in Österreich wie nie zuvor. Welche Rolle diverse Wohnbauförderungen dabei spielen und wie sich diese im Laufe der Zeit entwickelt haben, soll im Zuge der Abhandlung dargestellt werden. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, den aktuellen klassischen Wohnbau hinsichtlich seiner Nachhaltigkeit zu betrachten. Dabei werden die ihm zu Grunde liegenden Bauweisen und Systeme sowie die zum Einsatz kommenden Materialien erläutert bzw. analysiert. Die erworbenen Erkenntnisse sollen als Anregung und zur Sensibilisierung des Themas ‚optimiertes Baustoffmanagement‘ dienen. In Anbetracht der immer geringer zur Verfügbarkeit stehenden natürlichen Ressourcen und der konträr dazu steigenden Nachfrage aufgrund der rasch wachsenden Bevölkerungsdichte, muss die Gesellschaft einen aktiven Beitrag zur Sicherung einer sauberen Umwelt bzw. Zukunft für kommende Generationen leisten. Die Baubranche sollte hierbei mit gutem Beispiel vorangehen und vermehrt auf eine Kreislaufwirtschaft setzen. Der beste Baustoff ist jener, der nicht produziert werden muss. Die grundlegenden Aspekte der Kreislaufwirtschaft sowie die aktive Vermeidung von Abfällen und die aktuellen Ziele der österreichischen Bundesregierung werden im Zuge der einführenden Kapitel näher erläutert. Neubauprojekte von Einfamilien- oder Mehrfamilienhäusern (EFH/MFH) haben Mindeststandards hinsichtlich ihres Brandschutzes, Schallschutzes, Wärmeschutzes, sowie bestimmte Nachhaltigkeitskriterien zu erfüllen. Die dafür grundlegenden Richtlinien werden im Umfang der wissenschaftlichen Ausarbeitung zusammengefasst. Mit Werkzeugen wie Wohnbauförderungssystemen hat die Politik die Möglichkeit, direkten Einfluss auf die Schaffung und die Erhaltung von Wohnräumen zu nehmen. Die Förderungssysteme sollten daher einen aktiven Beitrag zum Klimaschutz leisten und einen Anreiz für den Ausbau von ökologischen Baualternativen schaffen. Inwieweit diese in aktuellen Förderungsmodellen festgehalten sind und welches Verbesserungspotenzial sich in Aussicht auf die Zukunft ergibt, wird im abschließenden Teil der Ausarbeitung behandelt. In view of the ever-increasing climate changes and the problems associated with them, topics such as sustainability, the circular economy and resource management are becoming increasingly relevant for our society. The construction industry is currently considered one of the biggest climate sinners and therefore has considerable catching up to do from an ecological point of view. In recent years, residential construction in Austria has boomed as never before. The roles played by various housing subsidies and how these have developed over time are presented in this thesis. The aim of this work is to consider the sustainability of the current classic residential buildings. The underlying construction methods, systems and materials used are explained and analyzed. The knowledge gained provides recommendations and serves to raise awareness of the topic of optimized management of building materials. In view of the increasingly scarce natural resources and the rapidly increasing population density, everyone must make an active contribution to ensuring a clean environment for future generations. The construction industry should set a good example and increasingly participate in a circular economy. The best building material is one that does not have to be produced! The basic aspects of the circular economy, the active avoidance of waste and the current goals of our federal government are explained in detail in the introductory chapters. New construction projects of single-family or multi-family houses must meet at least the standards for fire protection, soundproofing and insulation as well as certain sustainability criteria. This thesis summarizes the basic guidelines. With tools such as housing subsidy systems, political policy can directly influence the creation and maintenance of housing. The subsidy systems should therefore actively contribute to climate protection and create an incentive for the expansion of ecological building alternatives. The extent to which this is anchored in current funding models and the potential for improvement that may arise in the future are dealt with in the concluding part of the thesis. Oral mucoceles are cystic changes in the minor salivary glands caused by traumatic damage to the salivary gland ducts or their obstruction with subsequent salivary congestion. In extravasation mucocele, saliva leaks from the ruptured duct into the surrounding tissue and causes a local inflammatory reaction. Thus, histopathologically, granulation tissue is seen around the salivary fluid, but no epithelial lining.

This year Mankind will release about 39 Gt carbon dioxide into the earth's atmosphere, where it acts as a greenhouse gas. The chemical transformation of carbon dioxide into useful products becomes increasingly important, as the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere has reached 400 ppm. One approach to contribute to the decrease of this hazardous emission is to recycle CO2, for example reducing it to formic acid. The hydrogenation of CO2 can be achieved with a series of catalysts under basic and acidic conditions, in wide variety of solvents. To realize a hydrogen-based charge-discharge device ('hydrogen battery'), one also needs efficient catalysts for the reverse reaction, the dehydrogenation of formic acid. Despite of the fact that the overwhelming majority of these reactions are carried out using precious metals-based catalysts (mainly Ru), we review here developments for catalytic hydrogen evolution from formic acid with iron-based complexes.
