Abstract
The article focuses on violence and political legitimacy in Africa, specifically exploring the factors contributing to the prevalence of violence and conflicts on the continent. Topics discussed include the high number of non-state conflicts in Africa, the role of religion in violent conflicts; and the importance of legitimizing power as a learning process in the context of democratization in Africa with historical influence of colonization on the state-building process in Africa.
