According to the high investment costs as well as the necessary maintenance and inspection tasks, turnouts must be treated very carefully. It is not reasonable to extract individual parts from the overall system. Rather, the entire regime must be understood and optimised. In order to make this possible, different data for a turnout description and prediction model were investigated. The measurement data from the standard track recording car EM250 of the Austrian Federal Railways were identified as those data source, which fulfils all requirements best. Therefore, the developed algorithm allows an exact positioning of all available measuring signals and ensures the synchronicity between the individual measuring data under consideration of dependencies between the individual signals. Based on this data, a variety of analyses for turnouts can be established and new methods can be developed, which will allow implementing of an LifeCycle- Management for turnouts in future.
