- Abstract
The Open Science and, above all, the Open Access movement have their origins primarily in the STEM subjects. The movement is dominated by their publication cultures and the corresponding infrastructures. With the technical developments of the last three decades, both have been gradually translated from analogue to digital. But what if openness is not translated but rethought? The paper presents the differences, challenges, and special needs of the arts and point out possible solutions. For this purpose, topics such as diversity, infrastructure for multimedia materials or homogeneous data management will be considered. After a brief outline practical reports from the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch (HfS), the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz (HZT) and the Universität der Künste (UdK) will show the situations for artistic institutions and their way to openness. A change of perspective is indispensable for rethinking, which is why the STEM subjects should take the arts into account. With their diversity and creativity, they meet the challenges of the digital world with innovation and vision. The arts create a modern openness for all. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
