Contrary to numerous reports, China's military strategy is not "asymmetric" because China's military doctrine and strategy are the same as those of its major rivals. The main reason of this misperception is China's unique conception of power as "strategies ". Based on its unique conception of power, China concentrates its limited resources on developing "asymmetric capabilities" so that it can control certain "key areas" of the military operation in a "local war under conditions of informatization ", neutralizing the conventional military advantages of its rivals to win a limited conflict either by deterring, denying or destroying the adversary's war-fighting capabilities. This operational asymmetry guides China's efforts of military modernization. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
