This paper discusses the process of transitioning to a UVM design verification environment for current VMM users. Differences and parallels between the two verification methodologies are presented to show that updating to UVM is mostly a matter of learning a new DV syntax. Topics include UVM phases, agents, TLM ports, configuration, sequences, and register models. Best practices and reference resources are highlighted to make the transition from VMM to UVM as painless as possible.

“Core literacy” is one of the hot button issues in global education research since the new century. The article conducts visual analysis to sort out the current status of “core literacy” research in China. It is found that the number of research results on domestic core literacy continues to rise rapidly,but there are some problems such as the number of applied research is small,imperfect evaluation system.In response to these problems, we propose to strengthen applied research on core literacy, and improve the evaluation system.

Abstract Background Salmonella infection is a serious concern in poultry farming because of its impact on both economic loss and human health. Chicks aged 20 days or less are extremely vulnerable to Salmonella pullorum (SP), which causes high mortality. Furthermore, an outbreak of SP infection can result in a considerable number of carriers that become potential transmitters, thus, threatening fellow chickens and offspring. In this study, we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to detect potential genomic loci and candidate genes associated with two disease-related traits: death and carrier state. Methods In total, 818 birds were phenotyped for death and carrier state traits through a SP challenge experiment, and genotyped by using a 600 K high-density single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array. A GWAS using a single-marker linear mixed model was performed with the GEMMA software. RNA-sequencing on spleen samples was carried out for further identification of candidate genes. Results We detected a region that was located between 33.48 and 34.03 Mb on chicken chromosome 4 and was significantly associated with death, with the most significant SNP (rs314483802) accounting for 11.73% of the phenotypic variation. Two candidate genes, FBXW7 and LRBA, were identified as the most promising genes involved in resistance to SP. The expression levels of FBXW7 and LRBA were significantly downregulated after SP infection, which suggests that they may have a role in controlling SP infections. Two other significant loci and related genes (TRAF3 and gga-mir-489) were associated with carrier state, which indicates a different polygenic determinism compared with that of death. In addition, genomic inbreeding coefficients showed no correlation with resistance to SP within each breed in our study. Conclusions The results of this GWAS with a carefully organized Salmonella challenge experiment represent an important milestone in understanding the genetics of infectious disease resistance, offer a theoretical basis for breeding SP-resistant chicken lines using marker-assisted selection, and provide new information for salmonellosis research in humans and other animals.

This paper reports on a mixed method study that examined the motivation of 121 students in a 1-year intensive language course in German or French at a Chinese university. Drawing on Dörnyei’s (2009) theory of the L2 Motivational Self System (L2MSS), a survey was conducted to explore their motivation to learn German or French. Regression analyses revealed that learning experience and promotion-focused instrumentality were the predictors for the German learners’ intended learning effort, while ideal L2 self was the predictor for the French learners’ motivation. Furthermore, ought-to self, culture/community interest and prevention-focused instrumentality were excluded in both regression models. In addition, 17 participants’ qualitative data in the interviews suggested that most of them had lower expectations for the value of German or French than for the value of English in improving one’s employability. Instead, they were much more oriented to learn and appreciate the cultural values of these languages. The results provided insight into the complexity of motivation to learn Languages Other than English (LOTEs) in the university context in China, and suggested future direction for research on LOTE learning motivation

Urban space greening is of great significance for improving urban underground space environment. At present, the design of urban underground space in China mostly involves the design of underground space. However, very rare research has been conducted on the design of semi-underground space greening to date. Through case study and survey research, this study focuses on the design of domestic semi-underground space, the preliminary semi-underground space greening design scheme, and the concrete implementation process of the semi-underground public space green wall greening design. The current study employs the green wall project in a semi-underground space environment as an example to illustrate the application of greening design in urban semi-underground space, and provide guidance for future ecological design of semiunderground public space.

In order to analyze the whole process of fatigue behaviours of reinforced concrete beams, an equivalent static analysis method is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the constitutive models based on the degradation of stiffness and strength and the accumulation of residual strain of concrete and reinforcement subjected to fatigue loadings are deduced and established by coupling the uniaxial constitutive model of concrete and the ideal elastic-plastic model of reinforcement under static load. Secondly, based on the similarity of concrete failure under static load and fatigue load, the equivalent relationship between fatigue and static analysis can be constructed by using the concrete residual strain as the equivalent parameter. On this basis, an equivalent static method for the analysis of fatigue behavior of reinforced concrete beam is proposed. At last, three reinforced concrete beams with rectangular section are tested, and the fatigue behaviours are analyzed by the method proposed in this paper. The numerical simulation results are compared with the field test data. The result shows that the numerical simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental results, which verifies the reliability and practicability of the method.

Energy demand is closely related to energy price, GDP and population. By using the shortest path algorithm and K-means clustering, we set up the spatial nodes, and carried out the model simulation to predict the energy demand of Yunnan Province. The results show that the total energy consumption of Yunnan Province will still show an upward trend from 2020 to 2015; hydropower silicon integration projects in Yunnan Province, the power supply and demand situation in Yunnan Province will change from oversupply to basic balance between supply and demand, and the role of thermal power in dry season will be played to make the decline of coal consumption tend to be smooth; from 2020 to 2025, Yunnan’s electricity consumption will increase by about 8.02% year-on-year. However, according to the commissioning of some projects, the total electricity consumption in the province will be about 192.9 billion kwh in 2020, with a yearon-year increase of 12.3%.

In this paper, a new method for the numerical simulation of structural model is proposed，which is employed to analyze the pounding response of caissons subjected to storm surge loads．According to the new method，the simulation process is divided into two steps. Firstly, the wave propagation caused by storm surge is simulated by the wave-generating tool of Flow-3D, and recording the wave force time history on the caisson. Secondly，a refined 3D finite element model of caisson is established，and the wave force load is applied on the caisson according to the measured data in the first step for further analysis of structural pounding response using the explicit solver of LSDYNA. The whole simulation of pounding response of a caisson caused by “Sha Lijia” typhoon is carried out. The results show that the different wave direction results in the different angle caisson collisions, which will lead to different failure mode of caisson, and when the angle of 60 between wave direction and front/back wall is simulated, the numerical pounding failure mode is consistent with the situation.

In order to improve the computational efficiency during the simulation and optimization process for the composite structure, the approximate analysis method was studied. The approximate analysis model was established for the composite material barrel by using BP neural network model. According to the network initialization and training, the model was used to replace the finite element analysis in the optimization process. The results showed that the BP neural network approximate model was effective and reliable, and the optimization efficiency was improved obviously.

PTT (Precipitate-Temperature-Time) curve of X80 pipeline steel was obtained by strain relaxation method. The evolution of precipitate particle size during holding process was simulated combined with kinetic calculation, and observed using TEM in the samples of industrial produced X80 steel with different holding time. It is revealed that the shape of PPT curve is typical “C” type with the nose temperature of 900°C and incubation time of about 5s. Kinetic calculation results show that the average particle size increases obviously with the increment of holding time. Meantime, after holding for 90s at 950°C, observation of industrial produced X80 steel reveals that the proportion of precipitate particles larger than 60nm increases dramatically, which basically agreed with the calculation results. Dissolved Nb can effectively reduce grain boundary mobility and retard recrystallization by solute drag effect. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to shorten the holding time without increasing holding temperature in industrial production, so that to reduce precipitate of Nb at high temperature, and increase the strength and toughness of steel.

The rise of social media has broken the geographical and communicative boundaries between fans, providing them with a more open platform to express themselves and pursue a shared spiritual resonance. This research focuses on the dynamics and psychological foundations of the BTS Weibo fan community to explore the emotional investment, community connections, and identity construction that arise from the excessive admiration and pursuit of a particular subject, whether virtually or in reality, in the social media era. Based on grounded theory, this research collects data generated by specific fan groups, including their content, interactions, and narratives, and iteratively analyzes and summarizes this data. The study identifies key characteristics of BTS Weibo fan behavior, such as sense of community, exclusivity and gift economy. These findings lay the foundation for further research on the evolving behaviors and motivations of fans, contributing to a broader discussion on media consumption, fan culture, and the psychological impact of online communities.

To investigate the therapeutic effects of Coptis chinensis on diabetic nephropathy using systematic pharmacological techniques. The TCMSP database was used to search the main components and related targets of Coptis chinensis; the GeneCards and CTD databases were used to screen the disease targets of diabetic nephropathy, and the intersection of the targets and disease targets was taken and plotted in Venn diagram; the target protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed from STRING database; the DAVID 6.8 online tool was used to GO and KEGG enrichment analyses were performed using DAVID 6.8 online tool to obtain the key signaling pathways of Coptis chinensis acting in diabetic nephropathy. Fourteen effective components of Coptis chinensis and 186 targets were obtained from the TCMSP database, and 3358 diabetic nephropathy targets were obtained from the summary of two databases, GeneCards and CTD. 118 intersecting targets of Coptis chinensis components and diabetic nephropathy diseases were obtained, and the core targets were TP53, MAPK1, AKT1, RELA, TNF, CAV1, RXRA, which may act on MAPK signaling pathway and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway to regulate the inflammatory response and oxidative stress generated by diabetic nephropathy process, thus reducing the disease symptoms. Coptis chinensis can exert its mechanism of action for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy through multiple components with multiple targets and pathways.

Osteoarthritis in the knee is a disease that is chronic and degenerative. It occurs more frequently between the elderly and the obese populations, and the prevalence rate of women is higher than that of men. With the accelerated aging of the population, the prevalence of knee osteoarthritis has also increased, which has brought greater pressure to the patients themselves and society. In recent years, although through the efforts of researchers, there have been a variety of treatment methods for knee osteoarthritis in the clinic, researchers have not yet found a complete cure for knee osteoarthritis. This paper introduces the research status of therapeutic modalities, exercise therapy and traditional therapy in the therapy of knee osteoarthritis by investigating previous research, aiming to promote the level of knee osteoarthritis therapy.

Multi-station fusion mode (MSF) generally includes energy storage system, data center and electric vehicle charging station. It can improve the utilization rate of land and power distribution resources of urban substations. This paper studies configuration of ESS in the MSF model, aiming at reducing total cost. Firstly, an AC-DC system of MSF model is established. Then, aiming at economy, the optimal configuration model of ESS is established. Finally, the effectiveness of the model is verified by a practical example, and the MATLAB toolbox YALMIP with the CPLEX solver is used to conduct the ESS planning.

At present, e-sports has become one of the most important industries. How to analyze e-sports data has become an urgent problem to be solved. Currently, some hot competition items do not provide data interfaces, so that the training set required for data analysis cannot be directly and accurately acquired. Data can only be obtained by watching video games in person. This method is obviously inefficient and the accuracy cannot be guaranteed. This paper proposes a data acquisition algorithm based on convolutional neural network algorithm. It also introduces transfer learning, improves the sample training method and data acquisition method, and finally solves the problem of data acquisition. According to the test, this algorithm achieves about 91% accuracy.

In this research, an integrated design system was established to design the product of nuts with flange and generate the lightweight geometry of product. The multi-stage forming process was evaluated using the CAE simulations. The topology optimization method was used to achieve the lightweight design, that included keeping necessary geometrical features and remove the excess volumes. The topological discrete model had been remodelled into a meaningful geometry which is able to satisfy the requirement of proof load of fastener specification. The final design of the lightweight geometry was adopted to test the capability of carrying proof load required using CAE simulations with the boundary conditions of the related ASTM standard. In the evaluation stage, the finite element method was used to do the topology optimization, the proof load evaluation, the forging process and the die stress analysis. The simulation results showed the lightweight design was able to reduce the weight of product and maintain enough mechanical strength. The proposed process and die designs were able to obtain the lightweight product without defects.

With the development of the e-sports, data analysis has gained more and more attention in the use of it. For the important problem that the analysis of behaviour patterns of the e-sports’ individual character is not solved directly and solved by anyone, this paper has put forward the session partitioning algorithm based on heat maps of jungle which adopts the clustering prototype thinking that partitions spatial range in advance and then determines by the range of time threshold. Experiments show that it solves the problem of roles of the session which is difficult to be partitioned.

In present manuscript, the flow field produced by oscillating foils in a duct were under investigation numerically. The flow field was considered as an incompressible laminar transient flow. In this paper, the oscillating frequencies were 2, 4 and 6 Hz; the span angles of the foil were 30˚, 60˚, 90˚, 120˚, and 150˚, respectively. The flow field produced by a particular oscillating pattern (fast forward slow backward, FFSB) has been made in comparison with that by the sinusoidal oscillating pattern. The flow field produced by dual oscillating foils was also analysed. Two foils oscillated in the same direction (in-phase) and in the opposite direction (counter-phase) were studied as well. Commercial software ANSYS-FLUENT was employed for the 2D numerical simulation. A moving grid technique was utilized in the analysis. Results present the flow average velocity increases as the oscillating frequency increases. It is also shown that the flow average velocity with span angle of 120˚ is the largest among these cases. In addition, the flow average velocity with dual foils is better than that with a single foil.

Grooved tubes are widely used in electronic cooling modules. They are usuallt drawn, a term referring to molding. However, this process has limitations, especially in the production of smaller tubes. Therefore, this study examines the potential of an alternative process, dieless forming, in which the grooves on stainless steel are generated by pulsed laser-assisted air pressure. To begin with, the stainless steel tube in ambient air was heated using a pulsed laser. Then, groove samples were sliced for observation using an optical microscope (OM). Finally, the samples were analyzed using Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM). The results demonstrate that grooves can be formed utilizing dieless forming with pulsed laser-assisted air pressure. The average observed depth of the grooves 208.5 um at 10-watt power and 0.01 Mpa gas pressure. In conclusion, grooves at a micro scale can be produced effectively by dieless forming for a range of industrial applications.

The main purpose of this study is to obtain more correct vehicle ride responses by using a nonlinear ride model considering the effect of Macpherson suspension geometry. Traditional ride model applied to analysis and controller design uses a two degree of freedom linear model, which includes sprung mass and unsprung mass and a spring and a damper vertically connect them. In fact, suspension components do not vertically position above the tire. The motions of body and tire are not going straight up and down. Therefore, the analysis results obtained by the simple model are often different from the experimental values of the actual vehicle. Because of the difference between simple model and actual vehicle, the control strategy almost cannot apply to actual vehicle. In order to understand the effect of suspension geometry on the vehicle ride responses and design a more practical control strategy, a nonlinear model including the geometric parameters of the suspension is constructed in this study. To estimate the initial equilibrium position of the suspension assembly under load, the static equilibrium analysis and mechanism motion analysis are synchronous implemented at the same time. The nonlinear model describes not only the relative position and velocity but also the force transmission between body and tire. Furthermore, by linearize this nonlinear model the development of control strategy for subsequent (semi) active suspension system could be expected.

In this study, silicon-acrylic latex, consisting of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as the core and modified polysiloxane as the shell, had been successfully synthesized via cationic emulsion polymerization. The structure of the silicon-acrylic latex was confirmed by means of DLS, FTIR and TGA. There was an increase of 24.74 nm in average particle size and a shift of the size distribution to large sizes for core-shell particles in comparison with the original PMMA core particles, which indicated the formation of core-shell structure. The typical absorption peaks of Si-O-Si and Si-O-C in infrared spectrum indicated that the hydroxyl groups on the PMMA surface had reacted with the silanol groups, which could be confirmed by heterogeneous two-component system form TGA test.

Dans ce contexte, cet article s'efforce de déterminer comment et dans quelle mesure les taishang contribuent aux relations sino-taïwanaises et au développement des politiques sur les deux rives du détroit. Il revisite le champ des études sur les taishang (taishang studies), fait le point sur les connaissances produites à ce jour et explore les futures orientations de la recherche dans ce domaine. This paper first introduces the basic theory of CFD method, including basic control equations, finite volume method, control equation solving algorithm and turbulence model selection. Second, based on OpenFOAM, an open-source fluid mechanics software, a numerical simulation method of vertical axis tidal turbine was proposed by using k-ω SST turbulence model and PIMPLE algorithm. The hydrodynamic characteristics of the vertical axis turbine were studied, and the calculation results were compared with experiments. The higher consistency proves the feasibility of the numerical simulation method proposed in this paper. Finally, the influence of inlet turbulence on numerical simulation was explored, and a set of effective CFD simulation strategies was concluded, which provided a valuable reference for future CFD simulation and research on vertical axis tidal turbines.

The rise of academic library involvement in research data management has presented numerous challenges for academic libraries. While libraries and archives have always had collection development policies that defined what they would or would not collect, policies for selecting research data for preservation are in their infancy. This study surveyed and interviewed academic researchers. From this research an initial list of eight types of data were identified as research data that should not be preserved and made public by academic libraries and archives. These include research data that are sensitive or confidential, proprietary, easily replicable, do not have good metadata, are test, pilot or intermediate data, are bad or junk data, data that cannot be used by others for a variety of reasons, and older data that are not used and have no obvious cultural or historical value. Conclusions drawn from the study will help librarians and archivists make informed decisions about which types of research data are worth keeping.

Systematic review searching is becoming an increasing part of the day-to-day work of health librarians. The University of Alberta John W. Scott Health Sciences Library offers a monthly three-hour “Introduction to Systematic Review Searching” workshop to researchers at the University of Alberta. Over the four years that the program has been offered, participants have completed evaluations at the end of each session. Based on these evaluations, the content and the delivery of the workshop have been refined, and the value of the sessions to the participants has been affirmed.

In order to overcome the shortcomings of the physical test conditions, research and development of the spacecraft container simulation verification platform to enhance the level of digital development of the spacecraft container. Based on the theory of rigid-flexible coupling dynamics, the dynamic model of the box system is established. The dynamic external excitation is determined by obtaining the track spectrum and identifying the condition of the line. Based on the computational fluid dynamics, the thermal model of the spacecraft container is established, and the container is realized by simulating the natural convection and air conditioning control spacecraft container thermal simulation. Using modular design, C/S architecture and navigation process to achieve the simulation platform architecture versatility, ease of maintenance and scalability and other needs. Finally, the mechanics and thermal performance verification of the spacecraft container and physical test are carried out. The results show that the simulation results of the box dynamic system and the thermal system are in good agreement with the experimental results.

The metal housing is typically jointed with plastic fittings by conventional gluing method or embedding injection molding to produce this type of devices. We propose to improve this new technique with more practical approach. In plastic-aluminum substrate dissimilar joining, the 5052 aluminum plate coarsening process was performed to increase the porosity of the permeable dissimilar phase. The ABS polymer plus carbonized rice husk powder was later induced or deposited on the microstructure to improve the bonding effect. The plastic -aluminum substrate dissimilar joining is completed by the final step of ultrasonic welding. The finished substrate will be tested on the properties of tensile strength to ensure its quality. According to the simulation analysis and measuring results, the maximum temperature between the interface of ABS polymer and 5052 aluminum alloy is about 400~450 °C during ultrasonic welding, which can make the surface of ABS polymer to be melted. Furthermore, after drilling micro-hole array and covering ABS plus carbonized rice husk powder, the 5052 aluminum alloy shows better joining effect with ABS polymer sheet by ultrasonic welding. This improved approach does not require mold or injection molding machinery to produce the high quality plastic -aluminum bonding parts.
