Environmental protection is close related with environmental education. Environmental education is as necessary in the educational system as outside it. The present study, starting from the perception of the representatives of the local rural public administration and the citizens of the rural communities on environmental protection issues: (i) highlights the need for information and education in the field of environmental protection, especially with regard to environmental legislation and waste management; (ii) demonstrates the usefulness of environmental educational projects and the use of open educational resources, as resources that can be easily adapted to the real needs of education and information.

Waste management is not a new process, but rather a natural and eternal process created by God in nature. Living organisms live their lives in various ways and then decompose to be food for other organisms. With the technological development and the waste left behind from factories and human diversity, it was necessary for science to be influenced by nature and to benefit from the divine gift in applying the waste management concept, which works to reduce the surplus and reduce resources in production, and spreading awareness among individuals about the importance of what they leave in the garbage cans and their environments. Art has been affected by materials and human waste, most notably the Dada school, which resulted in many arts, like installation and assemblage art. Also, this affected the design in general, advertising design, the perspective and form of the design, and the material has a wide resonance in the field of advertising design and its manufacture. And companies tended to add environmental values to their products, and to enter advertising as a design in this step. Although advertising may advertise a product or service, it is also a physical product made of a material that performs a function and a message. Its strategy, and therefore reflects the spirit and values of the company towards preserving the environment on the one hand by attracting different categories of consumers , raising their awareness towards environmental resources, and on the other hand, it achieves profit for companies by attracting consumers who prefer environmental products over others. waste management strategies have varied under what is known as the golden )Four Golden Rule( for waste management, which includes reuse, recycling, reduction, and finally heat recovery. It has been possible to exploit these strategies in different ways and direct them towards the arts used in the manufacture of advertisements, which opened many horizons for the designer towards innovation and presenting the advertisement in a way that affects the recipients and consolidates the idea of awareness in their brains.

This research investigates the potential of incorporating municipal solid waste (MSW) ash into brick production to mitigate challenges arising from urbanization and waste disposal. MSW ash was substituted for fly ash at varying proportions (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) in this experimental study. Analytical techniques such as SEM analysis, XRD, and EDAX were employed to assess the characteristics of MSW ash. Various experimental tests, including compressive strength, water absorption, soundness, leaching, and efflorescence tests, were conducted to evaluate the suitability of MSW ash as a raw material in brick manufacturing. The compressive strength test revealed a value of 12.2 MPa after 15 days of curing, without compromising the strength of conventional bricks, while water absorption remained below 20%, indicating an acceptable level. Although leaching tests detected trace amounts of heavy metals in MSW bricks, overall, the incorporation of MSW ash in brick production presents a promising solution to MSW waste disposal challenges, offering a sustainable approach to urban waste management.

By integrating governance, environmental diplomacy, and multilateral cooperation, Morocco is laying a robust foundation for economic growth, social progress, and environmental protection. There have been serious research advancements in concrete materials to make construction more sustainable. Specifically, this is true with regard to alternative ingredients used for self-compacting concrete (SCC) production. To improve its sustainability, this study is aimed at adding Fine Recycled Concrete Aggregate (FRCA) and Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) into SCC. Crushed and reclaimed asphalt (RCA), on the other hand, has many benefits including lower environmental impact and cost-effectiveness. Nevertheless, there are several issues associated with contractors’ knowledge among others being variations in their properties. It’s also known that FRCA can imbibe water faster; hence, mineral admixtures may be introduced to further enhance mechanical behaviour of the concrete. Fly ash and geopolymer synthesis are examples of waste products from industry as well as by-products of coal combustion which are useful in making green concretes. The best results would be achieved if fly ash, a popular Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM) that reduces Ordinary Portland Cement’s (OPC’s) need is divided according to its oxide content. In order for geopolymers to become an alternative for cement making materials such as aluminosilicate source or alkali reactants are applied. Engineered Cementitious Composite (ECC) enhances performance of concrete even more with strain-hardening properties, especially in terms of durability and tensile capacity. On the whole, manufacturing concrete from recycled and industrial waste products is cost effective and environmentally beneficial. These materials can be maximized if prope performance-driven design strategies and contemporary waste management systems are put into place. This paper emphasizes how essential and crucial it is to incorporate sustainable methods in the production of concrete to create a more environment friendly construction industry.

Waste or wastage is the term for materials that remain unutilized after a product's initial use or process completion. It is a type of substance that is worthless, ineffective, or flawed. Thus, material that loses its value or becomes unusable after the creation of any textile product has concluded is referred to as textile waste. Produce waste occurs during all phases of the textile production process, including spinning, weaving, knitting, dying, finishing, and garment making. This study examines the effects textile waste on the environment and the difficulties in recycling procedures within the industry, which is crucial for the world economy and ecosystem. It is crucial to move towards a circular economy model since the textile industry produces a lot of trash because of its fast fashion cycles and high levels of production to meet demand. This study emphasizes the textile industry's significant environmental impact. The conclusions show that although textile recycling can help lessen the industry's environmental impact, there are still a number of obstacles to overcome, including the need for low-grade materials to have commercially viable recycling processes, the high cost of recovery procedures, and the logistical and technical challenges associated with separating fiber blends. In order to deal with these issues, the study emphasizes how crucial it is to develop environmentally friendly procedures and cutting-edge recycling technologies.

Aim: The scope of this study is to compare the tensile strength of novel glass powder based concrete and conventional concrete. Materials and Methods: The experiment is splitted into two groups. This study investigated the effects of utilizing a mixture of slaughterhouse waste and rice bran as a growing medium on the morphometric traits of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae. The research followed a completely randomized design with five treatment groups, namely T0: 100% slaughterhouse waste (control), T1: 75% slaughterhouse waste + 25% rice bran, T2: 50% slaughterhouse waste + 50% rice bran, T3: 25% slaughterhouse waste + 75% rice bran, and T4: 100% rice bran. The morphometric traits examined in this study included the larvae body length at 19 days (LBL19), larvae body width at 19 days (LBW19), larvae body length at 29 days (LBL29), and larvae body width at 29 days (LBW29). The results demonstrated that using slaughterhouse waste as the sole medium (T0) could support the growth of BSF larvae, but the morphometric traits of larvae in T0 were relatively modest. Interestingly, when RB was used to replace SW partially, it had a dose-dependent effect. T1 significantly improved (P < 0.05) LBL19, LBL29, and LBW29. Conversely, the morphometric traits of BSF larvae in T2 and T3 did not exhibit significant changes (P > 0.05) compared to the control. Moreover, the use of T4 significantly enhanced (P < 0.05) all morphometric traits of BSF larvae (LBL19, LBW19, LBL29, and LBW29). In conclusion, this study reveals the significant potential of BSF in managing slaughterhouse waste. Furthermore, employing a growing medium consisting of 75% slaughterhouse waste and 25% rice bran emerges as a practical approach to strike a harmonious balance between effective waste management and fostering the development of BSF larvae.

This research examines how Internet of Things (IoT) technology and advanced analytics may be integrated into trash management. The results show a notable improvement in waste collection efficiency, cost savings, and environmental sustainability. Significant operational cost reductions were achieved by reducing the number of overfilled trash cans by 20% and the frequency of collections by 15% as a consequence of real-time data capture using IoT sensors. Additionally, a 25% reduction in trip distance was made possible by data-driven route optimization, which also resulted in a 10% drop in fuel use and a decrease in carbon emissions. The data-driven strategy also found areas for recycling, which increased the amount of recyclables collected by 15%. These findings highlight the promise that data-driven trash management has for improving both environmental and economic sustainability while tackling the problems associated with urban garbage.

The practical effects of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into Industry 5.0 smart city services are made evident by this empirical research. The use of AI-powered smart traffic management yields a noteworthy 32.94% rise in traffic volume, signifying a noteworthy progression towards improved urban mobility. AI waste management optimization results in a 5.71% increase in collection efficiency, highlighting the importance of operational effectiveness and resource conservation. The control of energy use shows an 8.57% decrease, confirming AI's importance in sustainable energy practices. AI-enhanced public safety offers dependable event prediction, indicating safer cityscapes. These results highlight AI's revolutionary potential and establish smart cities as safe, secure, and sustainable urban environments.

Household waste management is a source of controversy, and a number of studies have focused on conflicts over the location of treatment facilities. In this paper, we propose to focus on a public action instrument presented as a solution to reduce household waste, and potentially limit the use of these treatment facilities: incentive pricing. As an ecological tax, this tool also has social acceptability issues and this article, which is the result of research carried out in the Centre-Val de Loire region, will attempt to define the outlines of this tool in order to propose avenues for reflection.

Due to the large amount of waste generation in Pringsewu Regency, community-based waste management sites such as TPST were created through the KOTAKU program. One of the TPSTs in Pringsewu Regency is the Sidomandiri Sidoharjo TPST with the number of households that have participated in the Sidomandiri Sidoharjo TPST as much as 16.65% of the total Pekon Sidoharjo households. The aim of the research is to analyze the type and volume of each type of waste managed by Sidomandiri Sidoharjo TPST and to analyze the level of community participation in waste management at Sidomandiri Sidoharjo TPST. The method used is descriptive quantitative with a sampling technique in the form of simple random sampling and measurement using a Likert scale. The results showed that the sources of waste in TPST came from households, restaurants and schools. The volume of waste receipts for 2023 from January to April is 92 m3, 88 m3, 85 m3 and 107 m3. Types of waste include organic, inorganic and residual waste. Then the level of community participation in the form of thoughts, energy and skills is included in the low category. While the participation of goods and money is included in the medium category. So based on the overall results, the level of community participation is in the low category with a score of 2.10.

The Sumatera Institute of Technology (ITERA) is a public university based in Jati Agung, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. Based on the assignment from the Ministry of Education and Culture, in the early stages of development and implementation it will be carried out by the Bandung Institute of Technology in collaboration with the Regional Governments throughout Sumatera. Furthermore, on October 6 2014 and promulgated on October 9 2014, the Sumatera Institute of Technology (ITERA) was established. One of them is pollution, including water, air and land pollution. In general, most of the waste produced at ITERA is domestic waste, accounting for 20-30% of the total waste volume. The objectives of our study are (1) to determine the quality and quantity of ITERA solid waste (2) to identify potential solid waste into environmentally friendly energy. Data processing and analysis is carried out descriptively based on the data that has been obtained, then the data is processed by calculating the potential for waste to become electrical energy. Waste generation data is needed to calculate the amount of waste stock that will later be used as fuel and will be related to the continuity of electrical power supply and the amount of energy that will be produced (KWh) and calculate the amount of energy potential. Quality and quantity of ITERA solid waste are food waste has the largest percentage, namely 24.11%, where the largest composition comes from food waste. The high level of food waste produced is due to students' habits of consuming excessive food without managing the waste. The total projected waste generation at ITERA in 2022 is 528,428 kg/day or 3,236 L/day. Calorific value is found in food and market waste, namely 1,295.98 Kcal/kg. The Potential production results from the direct combustion (Incineration) technology process carried out by PLTSa produce a potential electrical power of 1,862.6112 kWh/day, if operated for 1 year the potential electrical power produced is 679,853,088 kWH/year or 679.85308 MWh/year.

Handling café business waste is essential for environmental protection, especially for organic food waste. After all, organic food waste decomposes quickly and produces methane gas, which has a pungent odor if not appropriately managed. This research analyzes and describes the waste management activities of specialty café businesses, starting with showing the development potential for managing by-product waste to increase added value and increase customer awareness. The research method used is descriptive qualitative analysis based on literature study, observation, interviews, and analysis of other supporting documents. The practice of waste management can positively impact the amount of waste generated from the café business because the amount of waste that must be submitted to the landfill can be reduced and provide by-products to increase income and café aesthetics. Waste management can be implemented by collecting and sorting waste and then processing it into by-products, one of which is by making eco-enzymes. The impact of this activity is that café businesses can educate employees and consumers to care more about the environment through simple waste management. The limitation of this study is that the research was conducted without a waste treatment trial process. Although this research is locally focused and qualitative, the results and methods of this research can be used to guide the implementation of wiser and more sustainable café business waste management.

The research is dedicated to sustainable development at commercial properties in Russia. A case study of shopping centers developers, supermarkets and DIY store practices have been conducted to estimate the role of retail developers at creating the comfortable urban environment. The survey points out that sustainable measures are widely used by developers, including water and energy efficiency, waste management, smart building technologies and even a green mall construction. Conscious behavior and healthy lifestyle are promoted, such social aspects as inclusivity, accessibility, charity and direct help are shared. Similar elements of sustainable development for different segments of retail are presented in the table, as well as specific examples are given. Motivation of real estate developers to attribute to creating comfortable urban environment is highlighted and certain effects are demonstrated.

The everyday solid waste created by human activity can be used to produce energy from which electricity can be produced. Municipal solid trash is currently increasing, which has complicated and complicated its disposal. Thus, a suitable process and planning are required for lowering solid waste. The necessity to develop an alternate source that may be used as fuel to produce electricity has arisen due to the depletion of fossil fuels as an energy source in today’s generation. We have suggested a substantial, most suitable approach that would enable us to simultaneously generate more electricity and reduce the volume of solid waste in order to fulfill the growing demand for electricity and power generation. Outre le problème d’hygiène que cela représente, ces déchets sont à l’origine des plusieurs maux (maladies, pauvretés, saletés, etc.). Forte des atouts considérables que constituent sa situation géographique et son patrimoine, l’Afrique a toutes les cartes en main pour s’embellir, et construire un cadre de vie agréable pour tous les Africains. Pour prévenir les incivilités environnementales et garder les villes africaines propres, l’oeuvre « Salongo » est une des propositions concrètes pour que le cadre de vie des citoyens s’améliore. The management of marine waste is an increasingly complex issue facing the world today. Our study provides an interesting take on the issue of marine waste by examining how Indonesian indigenous communities can deal with plastic marine pollution. While there is an obvious need for mitigating plastic use, for effective legislative policies regulating plastic waste management, and to do more to develop sustainable waste management practices; there are also opportunities for indigenous communities to take an innovative approach by using plastic waste in a manner that drives economic development from both non-market and neoliberal theoretical ideologies. As part of this assessment, alongside Indonesian examples we include examples of plastic re-use by indigenous communities of the Philippines and Australia. Moreover, our study highlights some of the areas in which this is being done in the fields of art and infrastructure development.

This research examined livestock farmers’ intention to move manure waste to an allocated landfill and the impact of financial support by municipalities on farmer’s behavior. The theoretical framework was developed using the Theory of Planned Behavior and tested the validity of the model. The survey was carried out with 336 farmers in Bursa, Turkey, where animal husbandry is the primary source of livelihood. Ethiopia confirmed its first case of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in March 2020. As a means to tackle the spread of the virus, the government opened a campaign for the public to exercise hygiene measures such as washing hands frequently and physical distancing. A few weeks later, a five-month State of Emergency (SOE) was declared, and several businesses, schools and theatre halls were closed. People were advised to work from home, including permitting telecommuting for many government officials. However, mainly due to fear of economic crisis, the government was forced to release the lockdown and mass wearing of face masks has become a requirement. As health professionals and the government insist that people make use of facemasks, it is also equally important to give guidance on how to dispose of them safely because face masks that are disposed improperly have the potential in spreading SARS-CoV-2. The urgency of this comes in people´s violations of rules when it comes to disposing of masks they used. Providing awareness creation programs about the negative impact of contaminated face masks on the health of individuals and introducing laws that can prohibit improper disposal of used PPEs are among the solutions discussed in this manuscript that could help reduce the problem.

In this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, one experiences the other and self as mask wearers. Mask, which until now was mainly a reality of the medical world, has become an object of daily life. For some, it is indispensable and beneficial, and it has also become, for others, the symbol of freedom restriction by those in power. This article raises the debate above these different positions to apprehend what the mask makes one think. This study understands the mask from its roots in medical usage as a prophylactic measure. From semantical ethics of the term "mask," the author shows that one's responsibility is put at the first value on each mask covering halfway one's face. This commitment serves as a basis for responsibility and tends towards hope. The Fontainebleau forest is characterized by its tourist heritage and its metropolitan integration. The waste crisis experienced by the forest between April 2016 and January 2017 questions the role of stakeholders in the management of this iconic place. In a context of territorial reorganization, the departamental council is reducing its subsidy for the cleaning of the road network crossing the Fontainebleau forest. Yet, for the year 2015, the French national forest office had noticed an increase of about 80% in the amount of collected waste. To protest the decision of the departmental council, the territorial direction of the national forest office decided to suspend the collection of waste. In view of this crisis, groups of users have mobilized to improve the cleanliness with operations of cleaning and a mediatization of this problem. We shall focus on three groups of stakeholders through a participating observation and an analysis of their communication. We shall see how this crisis was mobilized by stakeholders to exert more influence in the forest management.

This article presents the waste management on board Disney Cruise Line (DCL) company ships. In previous papers, we focused on the environmental policies of the DCL company, on the cruise itinerary waste management plans for the enterprise’s ships, waste collection, sorting and storage and food waste management on DCL ships, as well as on dangerous and medical waste management on board DCL company ships. The paper consists of an analytical view of the environmental personnel’s activities, in-house regulations and of various recordings and field observations. It presents detailed information on waste collection, sorting and transportation on board company ships, as well as on waste processing, storage and disposal procedures, waste registers and reports filed by employees, White Data Box and the equipment used for waste processing and recycling. The study concludes that the DCL company is committed to minimizing its fleet’s environmental impact by means of adopting new technologies, generating less waste, training its staff and instructing its guests, and raising awareness on environmental issues. In 2013, the company was declared the most environmentally-responsible cruise line. All crew members must fully comply with the DCL company’s environmental requirements and policy. Both employees and customers must pay attention to the practices that can result in accidental pollution. Waste collection procedures and the prevention of improper waste disposal are carefully monitored at all times. DCL makes continuous efforts to minimize waste amounts and associated risks on its ships. This entails using the appropriate storage, use and disposal procedures, and extends all the way to operation and event planning and supply and consumable purchases. DCL’s environmentally friendly vision is best described by these values and actions: thorough bookkeeping, monitoring, double-checking, awareness, continuous communication.

Waste is an ecological problem today and will always increasing rapidly according to the needs of the community. The problem of waste in coastal areas occurs because of the limited land for the community who live in coastal areas, it supported by inadequate infrastructure facilities, especially waste disposal facilities. The condition that occurs in the coastal area of Laluin village is most people throw solid waste in the area around their homes, they hope the waste will be carried by the tidal currents of the seawater.The result is the accumulation of solid waste along the residential area of the fishing community of Laluin village. This study aims to provide direction for waste management so that the community can live in a healthy environment. The study method uses observation and literature review. The result shows the community who throws the waste to sea because no government regulation arranges waste management and low awareness of the community who care about the environment. Therefore, waste management is needed for coastal sustainability.

Background: South African cities have been beleaguered with urban deterioration challenges, especially dumping and littering, notwithstanding the regulatory framework and the continuous clean-up programmes undertaken by municipalities. This article identifies the challenges within eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality in addressing littering and dumping, and recommends improvements towards urban regeneration efforts. Objectives: To critically evaluate compliance of legislation and efficacy of the urban regeneration programmes implemented, which addressed littering and dumping within the inner city of eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality. Method: This convergent mixed-method research followed a case study approach and involved the analysis of primary data obtained from a qualitative perspective, including semi-structured interviews and questionnaires; and secondary analysis of quantitative data in the form of documents and reports obtained from the municipality. Results: The article identified that urban degeneration, specifically litter and dumping, occurred as a result of ineffective compliance of regulations and lack of enforcement; outdated service levels, lack of monitoring and evaluation of programmes; lack of education initiatives; ineffective leadership and governance; lack of involvement of citizens and businesses in clean city initiatives; and the negative behavioural patterns of citizens. Conclusion: The key recommendations for municipalities include implementing an integrated strategic plan for urban regeneration within a proactive policy and regulatory environment; monitoring and evaluation of programmes related to urban regeneration; increased resources dedicated to waste management and enforcement; implementing enforcement and consequence management strategies; and stimulating change in the behaviour patterns of citizens, businesses as well as municipality employees.

Management of Waste liquids and Vulnerability of the Population to Diseases: Case of Songon-Agban District of Abidjan. In Songo-Agban, district of Abidjan, the spatial and demographic dynamic goes together with a lack of urban waste management services. This phenomenon causes the proliferation of waste liquids and exposes resident populations to environmental diseases. Faced with an uncontrolled population growth and the urgent lack of sanitation infrastructures, sewage management and its impact on the population is becoming worrying. The objective of this study is to analyze the practices of the population concerning the management of waste liquids , their impact on the environment and the vulnerability of the populations to environmental diseases. Analysis of primary and secondary data collected reveals an individual and inefficient management of waste liquids in Songon-Agban. The households drain sewage in septic tanks, cesspools and even in the street. These different practices damage the living environment and expose the population to environmental diseases, in particular malaria, typhoid fever, diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections.

Description of the subject. This research note presents a methodology to quantify the tilapia sludge digestion performance in aerobic and anaerobic reactors for aquaponic purpose. Both organic reduction and macro- and microelements mineralization performances were addressed. Objectives. To set up an appropriate methodology to quantify sludge digestion performance in aquaponics. To describe the methodology and illustrate it with some results as example. Method. Equations were adapted to quantify (1) the organic reduction performance in terms of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) reduction, and (2) the nutrient recycling performance in terms of macro- and microelements mineralization. Results. The equations were applied to data obtained from experimental aerobic and anaerobic reactors as example. Reactors were able to remove at least 50% of the TSS and COD input. The nutrient mineralization was consistent with a 10 — 60% range for all macro- and micronutrients. Conclusions. The methodology provides explicit indicators on the sludge treatment performances for aquaponics. Treating aquaponic sludge onsite is promising to avoid sludge spillage, improve nutrient recycling and save water.

Nuclear fission energy is a carbon-free source of electricity which makes particularly economical use of matter and space, and which has made France the “good student” in the fight against greenhouse gases. It is widely deployed in our country, which is an asset when we seriously ask ourselves the question of the trajectory to be constructed and not simply that of the objective to be achieved. As such, it fully has its place in the energy strategies to be implemented in the face of global warming. But the analysis of its strengths and weaknesses requires an approach integrating the issue of uranium resources, the issue of safety and that of aging of equipment, the problems associated with the dismantling of plants at the end of their life, and finally management. of the waste produced by this energy source. None of these aspects can be tackled in isolation from the others, none of these issues can be addressed without thinking about the timescales involved. Finally, the question of the coexistence of nuclear energy and other sources of electricity requires reflection on the nature of the networks, storage capacities and the flexibility of the energy mix. Résumé: Le traitement des déchets ménagers suscite encore des inquiétudes pour la santé et l'environnement : les croyances et les méfiances des citoyens rendent difficile la mise en œuvre des solutions de gestion. Une politique comprise, acceptée, respectant les principes de la santé publique et environnementale, est donc une nécessité. Ainsi, une meilleure connaissance des enjeux pour les citoyens devient incontournable. Le projet SPID (santé perçue à proximité d'installations de traitement des déchets) avait pour objectif de repérer les facteurs d'acceptabilité de divers centres de traitement de déchets à travers une enquête « santé perçue » combinée avec des entretiens ciblés et l'exploitation de données locales sur l'état de santé de la population, l'influence des activités de traitement, le ressenti des riverains et des parties prenantes. Quatre centres de traitement divers ont été sélectionnés dans des territoires présentant des situations sociosanitaires et environnementales variées. L'amplification ou l'atténuation de la perception des risques tiennent à de multiples facteurs, ancrés dans l'histoire de chaque territoire. Les entretiens auprès de professionnels de santé, d'élus et des gestionnaires des centres ont permis ainsi d'appréhender ces facteurs et de les mettre en lien avec l'enquête santé perçue, les indicateurs sociosanitaires et environnementaux. Du rejet à l'adhésion, il existe un continuum d'attitudes qui peuvent évoluer selon les stratégies des centres, leur attention à la population et leur insertion dans la vie locale. Malgré quelques limites, cette étude formule des préconisations permettant une meilleure acceptabilité : attention aux nuisances olfactives, communication, inscription dans le territoire, valorisation des missions, gestion des « déchets inappropriés » et sensibilisation des professionnels de santé à la santé-environnement. L'approche développée dans SPID pourrait s'appliquer à d'autres centres de traitement ou activités industrielles, installés ou en projet, afin d'identifier les éléments locaux nécessaires à une meilleure acceptabilité par la population générale. Domestic waste treatment continues to spark health and environmental concerns. Citizens' beliefs and mistrust on the subject make the implementation of waste management solutions challenging. A well-understood and accepted policy which respects the principles of public and environmental health is therefore necessary, and it requires that citizens understand the issues better. The SPID project (Santé Perçue à proximité d'Installations de traitement des Déchets) (Perceived Health near waste disposal facilities) aimed to identify the factors of acceptability of various waste disposal facilities through a survey on "perceived health" combined with targeted interviews, as well as exploration of local data about population health status, the influence of waste disposal activities, and residents' and stakeholders' feelings. Four waste disposal facilities were selected in territories presenting a variety of health, social and environmental conditions. The amplification or attenuation of risk perception may be attributed to multiple factors, rooted in the history of each territory. The interviews with health professionals, elected representatives and managers of waste disposal centres provided insight into the relation of these factors to the "perceived health" survey and its health, social and environmental indicators. From rejection to adoption, there is a continuum of attitudes that can evolve depending on the facilities' strategies, the attention they pay to the population and their involvement in local life. Despite some limitations, this study makes recommendations to enable greater acceptability: attention to odour pollution, communication, territorial/local integration, recognition of tasks, inadequate waste disposal and health professionals' awareness of environmental health. The approach developed in SPID could be applied to other existing or future treatment centres or industrial activities, to identify the local elements necessary to make them more acceptable to the neighbouring population. This research analyzes behaviors and practices related to waste and water in housing through a survey conducted in March 2016 in the municipalities of Oran, with 228 people. Our goal was to answer the following question that people's perception and behavior for sustainable development? to answer this problem, water and waste behaviors have been analyzed, the management of their itineraries outside the dwelling is the most complicated problem at the local level. Among the objectives retained by this survey also, measure the degree of knowledge, and practices of the population of the city of Oran vis-à-vis its urban residential environment. the main findings show that household environmental behaviors are strongly related to the level of education, the habitat environment, the gender and the age of the household head. On the question of the sustainable management of the environment in Algeria it would be essential, recourse to the European experience which to consider the integration of the whole population to reinforce the action of the public authorities. In Ouagadougou, the thickening of the central areas is accompanied by a space strong growth. This increase in the built surfaces is done in a concentric way, the new not-structured districts developing in periphery. In these districts, waste management is summarized with the whole of the activities of pre-collection, collection, evacuation or transport, valorization and elimination of those. The households in a systematic way make of it an use always calculated and reflected in space and time. It is use which leads to the storage of waste in the spaces booked with the domestic life. The report of the households to solid waste rests primarily on the idea according to which, those always have an immediate or remote unspecified utility. In a descriptive approach inspired of the microsociology are presented on the one hand a typology of the solid waste produced by the households, of suitable spaces and on the other hand, own logics which justify the ways of waste within living environments in urban environment. Introduction: access to drinking water and sanitation has been a long-standing issue between many States. However, it represents a daily struggle for hundreds of thousands of city dwellers who live mainly in the developing countries. The government of Cameroon with the assistance of providers of funds have implemented strategies to make sanitation and access to safe drinking water a reality. We have therefore decided to assess sanitation and access to drinking water in Douala V sub division. Method: we conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study from May to June 2018. We used a two-stage random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The analysis was conducted using Epi Info Version 7.1.3.3. Results: our study shows that 22.47% of subjects discharged waters into the natural environment after use. Then, 65,55% (493/752) of households consumed borehole water; 53.69% of households rode between 1 to 5 km, 49.25% walked more than 15 minutes to collect water and 85,50% of households did not use a water treatment method. Only 14.49% of subjects used a water treatment method. No household used solar water disinfection (SODIS); 2/752 households (0.26%) had no latrine. Most of the households (54.52%; 410/752) discharged domestic wastes onto the street. Conclusion: the creation of decentralized units: the drillings, waste disposal systems and water treatment education to meet basic needs are essential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
