The innovative and vanguard experience known as «La Isla de los Niños» that was accomplished in the Canary Islands by the teacher Ricardo García Luis, represents the reality of writing done in the schools. His ability to prepare students for participation in a form of media communication led to the fusion of educational, cultural and social elements that facilitated a dialog between the students and the world. The purpose was not to prepare a student publication for the educational center, but rather to publish in the daily newspaper. The children expressed themselves freely on diverse topics and themes at a time in which the Franco dictatorship represented definite censorship. Initially the work came out of the professional work of the aforementioned teacher, in a school in the town of La Zarza, in the municipality of Arico (south of the island of Tenerife), that discovered the ability to narrate, describe, interpret and retell the activities of his students that he felt worthy of notice. He broke with the mold and all educational stereotypes and opened new horizons for his students when he edited the material written in his school and published in the newspaper El Día a weekly paper from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Su conciencia y disposición para habilitar a los escolares para su intervención y proyección en un medio de comunicación condujo a la conjugación educativa, cultural y social, a través de la cual los alumnos dialogaban con el mundo. Porque no se trataba de elaborar una página escolar para el centro educativo, sino para insertarla en la prensa diaria. De acuerdo con los objetivos de su creador, los niños se expresaban libremente sobre diversos aspectos y temas en una etapa aún amordazada por la dictadura franquista. En un principio, surgió de la tarea profesional del citado maestro, en la escuela del pueblo de La Zarza, en el municipio de Arico (sur de la isla de Tenerife), que descubrió la capacidad de narrar, describir, interpretar y de relatar hechos de sus alumnos, y consideró que merecía ser divulgado. De modo que, en ????, rompiendo moldes y estereotipos educativos, abriendo otros horizontes desde las páginas del periódico El Día editado en Santa Cruz de Tenerife, con periodicidad semanal, desde la diversidad y pluralidad, editaba el material redactado en el colegio.

En l’etapa final de la dictadura franquista es va dissenyar, a l’Estat espanyol, un nou perfil professional per al magisteri. Aquest perfil es va concretar en el Pla d’estudis de 1971, que va diversificar el currículum en un programa de formació cultural i pedagògica especialitzada i va fer variar de manera substancial el model de formació inicial. La transformació de les Escoles de Magisteri en centres universitaris, tal com disposava la Llei general d’Educació de 1970, va representar un important pas endavant en la formació del magisteri espanyol, que, a partir d’aquell moment, es va anomenar professorat d’EGB (Educació General Bàsica). La identitat professional i el compromís educatiu varen ser les claus de la renovació pedagògica posterior. L’objectiu d’aquest article és presentar les investigacions realitzades sobre la formació inicial d’aquest professorat i les iniciatives de canvi impulsades per aquest col·lectiu docent a les illes Canàries a la dècada de 1970 fins a la transició política. Al segle xix les dones que volien estudiar batxillerat van tenir moltes dificultats per accedir als instituts. El batxillerat es veia com a part de la formació que havia de rebre la minoria dirigent, però en aquesta formació no s'incloïen les dones, perquè es concebia com un espai masculí. Un nivell educatiu que al principi no considerava la presència femenina, encara que no hi havia una prohibició expressa que impedís d'accedir-hi, se sobreentenia que no era propi per a les dones. D'aquí l'escassetat d'alumnat femení i el baix nombre de dones que van obtenir el títol de batxiller. Les Canàries, província espanyola situada al nord-oest de la costa africana, van patir les conseqüències de la llunyania de la metròpoli, fet reflectit especialment en les dificultats econòmiques i limitacions formatives, ja que hi mancaven centres educatius. Però aquestes circumstàncies no van ser motiu perquè algunes dones tinguessin interès per accedir als estudis de batxillerat i esquivessin obstacles per aconseguir-ho.

RESUMEN: En España a partir de la constitución de las autonomías, se abordan los contrastes regionales de los distintos territorios que componen la monarquía, tratando de conocer diferencias geográficas, históricas, étnicas, jurídicas, económicas y culturales. Sin embargo, hay que reconocer que la evolución de la historia local y regional ha sido bastante desigual. Existe una historiografía regional consolidada en aquellas regiones en las que antiguos planteamientos nacionalistas han impulsado su desarrollo. En Canarias, el auge de la historia regional es reciente, aunque el estudio del pasado histórico arranca con Viera y Clavijo y Millares Torres, surge en el siglo XX en el seno de la investigación universitaria. ABSTRACT: After the constitution of the authonomous regions in Spain, regional contrasts of the territories that constitute the monarchy were analyzed in order to learn about historical, geographical, ethnical, economical and cultural differences. Nevertheless, the development of local and regional history has been unequal. There is a consolidated regional historiography in the regions where nationalistic positions have promoted its development. In the Canary Islands, the development of regional history is quite new and originates in the university, in spite of the fact the study of the past initiates with Viera y Clavijo and Millares Torres.

RESUMEN: En España a partir de la constitución de las autonomías, se abordan los contrastes regionales de los distintos territorios que componen la monarquía, tratando de conocer diferencias geográficas, históricas, étnicas, jurídicas, económicas y culturales. Sin embargo, hay que reconocer que la evolución de la historia local y regional ha sido bastante desigual. Existe una historiografía regional consolidada en aquellas regiones en las que antiguos planteamientos nacionalistas han impulsado su desarrollo. En Canarias, el auge de la historia regional es reciente, aunque el estudio del pasado histórico arranca con Viera y Clavijo y Millares Torres, surge en el siglo XX en el seno de la investigación universitaria.
