Today, Green Marketing has become increasingly vital in the modern market place. It drivesshift in both consumer demand and producers supply, leading to changes in advancements in products.Consequently, consumers are experiencing higher levels of satisfaction with the products they buy whilebusinesses are targeting consumers more effectively, driving up profits and fostering growth. This focuson green marketing also reflects a growing concern for sustainable environmental development. This paperdeals with significance of green marketing, discussing the challenges it faces and proposing strategies toovercome them.

One of the major concerns for industries in the modern world is to focus efforts on producing high quality products with minimal costs. Various quality improvement philosophies have emerged in recent times, Six Sigma being one of the most practical and efficient techniques for quality improvement of processes. In this work, Six Sigma based DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach is used to enhance productivity and quality performance, and to make the hot forging process robust to quality variations. Finite element method has been employed for the simulation of hot forging of the connecting rod. The influence of design and process parameters is investigated for the response ‘forging die load’. Analysis of various critical parameters and the interaction among them has been carried out with the help of Taguchi’s method of experimental design. To further optimize the response and make the analysis more precise and robust, response surface methodology has been incorporated. Parameters have been optimized, leading to the accomplishment of a minimized forging die load which is verified using a confirmation experiment. Confirmatory results reveal the potential of the DMAIC approach of Six Sigma in optimizing the process parameters successfully and thereby present significant applicability in the industry.

Surface modification of metallic biomedical implants are often performed using chemical or mechanical methods in order to make them more bio-active or resistant against surface-induced phenomena such as wear, corrosion or corrosion fatigue. In the present study, one such method, known as Surface Mechanical Attrition Treatment (SMAT), has been studied in terms of its effects on the mechanical and functional response of a newly developed low modulus metastable β Ti-Nb-Ta-O alloy. The hardness of the surface was found to increase up to a certain duration of SMAT, due to increased degree of deformation on the surface. This was also supported by an increase in the peak broadening with respect to SMAT duration. Apart from surface hardening, SMAT also resulted in improvement of corrosion resistance of the Ti-Nb-Ta-O alloy due to formation of a more stable passive film.

Dwell sensitivity of titanium alloys at ambient temperature (~250 C) is a well-known phenomenon, although the question about the exact micromechanical reasons responsible for this still remains open. In this work, the normal and dwell fatigue response of a near-alpha titanium alloy, IMI 834, is studied. Samples with three different microstructures, namely, fully lamellar, fully equiaxed and bimodal, are evaluated for their dwell fatigue behaviors. A reduction in fatigue life by at least an order of magnitude is seen in all the three microstructures. Large plastic strain accumulation (almost equal to the monotonic ductility) was observed during the dwell fatigue loading condition and this is held responsible for this large debit in fatigue life. The normal fatigue lives decreased in the order, bimodal > fully equiaxed > fully lamellar, while the dwell fatigue lives decreased in the order, fully equiaxed > fully lamellar > bimodal. Bimodal microstructure showed a dwell fatigue debit of 17, while fully lamellar and fully equiaxed showed a debit of 9 and 10, respectively.
