The thesis work presented in this paper aims to address the issues encountered in the field of decommissioning and related to non-destructive testing of large non-planar surfaces with low levels of radiological contamination. The main objective of this thesis is to develop a pixelated and deformable measurement system, compatible with the detection of different radiological signatures (alpha, beta and gamma) on large uneven surfaces. Two technical solutions were considered and investigated: scintillating fibres and phoswichs scintillators. Scintillating fibres, being characterised by an intrinsic deformability allowing them to adapt to the measured surface and the possibility of being manufactured over several kilometres in length, showed a strong potential for innovation and therefore constituted the most promising technological brick for this work. In order to achieve the stated objective, three lines of research were explored. The first axis concerns the development of a detector based on scintillating fibres, for a beta spectrometry application. The second axis aims at developing a numerical model of the detector, using the Monte Carlo simulation code MCNP6, and a numerical model of the transmission and amplification of the signal generated inside the fibres. Finally, the third axis concerns a multi-source beta/beta and beta/gamma discrimination method based on different thicknesses of cladding and cores, and associated with an iterative Maximum Likelihood-Expectation Maximisation (ML-EM) algorithm.; Les travaux de thèse présentés dans ce mémoire visent à répondre aux enjeux rencontrés dans le domaine du démantèlement et relatifs aux contrôles non destructifs de grandes surfaces non planes, présentant un faible niveau de contamination radiologique. L’objectif principal de la thèse consiste à développer un système de mesure pixellisé et déformable, compatible avec la détection de différentes signatures radiologiques (alpha, bêta et gamma) et adapté à l’inspection de grandes surfaces non planes. Deux solutions techniques ont été considérées et investiguées : les fibres scintillantes et les scintillateurs de type phoswich. Les fibres scintillantes ont montré un fort potentiel d’innovation et ont donc constitué la brique technologique la plus prometteuse pour ces travaux.Afin d’atteindre l’objectif énoncé, trois axes de recherche ont été explorés. Le premier axe concerne le développement d’un détecteur basé sur des fibres scintillantes, pour une application de spectrométrie bêta. Le deuxième axe a pour objectif le développement d’un modèle numérique du détecteur, en utilisant le code de simulation Monte-Carlo MCNP6 et un modèle mathématique de la transmission et de l’amplification du signal généré à l’intérieur des fibres. Enfin, le troisième axe porte sur une méthode de discrimination multi-sources bêta/bêta et bêta/gamma basée sur différentes épaisseurs de gaines et de cœurs, et associée à un algorithme itératif de type Maximum Likelihood-Expectation Maximisation (ML-EM).

Manual or automated immunoassays are largely used in clinical chemistry laboratories for measuring various compounds like steroid or peptide hormones. However, these methods can lack sensibility and specificity. Hence, during this last decade, tandem-mess spectrometry coupled with liquid chromatography (LC-MS/MS) have emerged as a technique of choice to precisely quantify those molecules. However, these instruments remain quite expensive and need highly trained people.Les laboratoires de biologie clinique réalisent, depuis de très nombreuses années, des dosages de différentes molécules (hormones, peptides, stéroïdes,…) grâce à des méthodes analytiques utilisant des anticorps. Ces méthodes, faciles à utiliser sont, pour la plupart d’entre elles, totalement automatisables. Cependant, ces méthodes dites «immunologiques» manquent parfois de sensibilité et surtout de spécificité. Durant cette dernière décennie, la spectrométrie de masse en tandem couplée à la chromatographie liquide (LC-MS/MS) s’est de plus en plus imposée dans les laboratoires de chimie clinique comme une alternative aux immunodosages. En effet, cette technique permet de séparer et de quantifier avec précision des molécules dont la structure est proche et qui ne sont pas bien différenciées avec des immunodosages. Aussi, la sensibilité de la LC-MS/MS peut être également supérieure à celle des immunodosages. Par contre, ce type de technologie demande du matériel de pointe assez coûteux et un personnel hautement qualifié.

Hybrid nanoplasmonics is one of the most promising branch of nanophotonics, that attempts to control the energy transfer between donor and acceptor nano-emitter via surface plasmons. Our approach of nano-emitters positioning is based on two-photon photopolymerization of a photosensitive material that contains quantum dots as nano-emitters. This technique allows one to use light for positioning, in a controlled manner, the quantum dots near the plasmonic nanosystems. New controlled hybrid plasmonic nanoemitters are reported. They are based on coupling between quantum dots and propagating surface plasmons that are supported by silver nanowires, considered as surface plasmons resonators and observed though their scattering at the nanowire ends. A parametric study of the distance between the quantum dots and the nanowire extremity shows that precise control of the position of the launching sites enables control of light intensity at the wire end, through surface plasmon propagation length. Control of the distance between the acceptors and the quantum donors on the silver nanowires allows for control of the emission of the acceptors by the plasmon length of propagation on the nanowire. This new approach is promising to produce efficient acceptor-donor hybrid nano-systems, for information transfer via plasmonic guides.; La plasmonique hybride est la branche la plus récente et la plus prometteuse de la nanophotonique, qui tente de contrôler le transfert d’énergie entre les nanoémetteurs assistés par plasmons de surface. Le défi lié à ce système hybride consiste à contrôler la position des boites quantiques donneurs et accepteurs servant d’émetteurs sur le nanofil métallique. Notre approche du positionnement des émetteurs est basée sur la photopolymérisation à deux photons de solution photosensible contenant des boites quantiques. Cette technique permet d'utiliser la lumière pour positionner de manière contrôlée les boites quantiques à proximité d’un système plasmonique. Un nouvel émetteur plasmonique hybride contrôlé est basé sur le couplage entre les boites quantiques et les plasmons de surfaces de propagation qui sont supportés par des nanofils d’argent. Ces nanofils sont considérés comme des résonateurs de plasmons de surface. Une étude paramétrique de la distance entre un type de boites quantiques et l'extrémité du nanofil montre qu'un contrôle précis de la position du site de lancement permet de contrôler l'intensité de la lumière à l'extrémité du fil, à travers la longueur de propagation du plasmon de surface. L’étude de la distance entre les boites quantiques accepteur et donneur permet un contrôle de l’émission des accepteurs par le biais de la longueur de propagation sur le nanofil. Cette nouvelle approche promet de produire des nano-systèmes hybrides accepteurs-donneurs efficaces, en vue de transfert d’informations par guide plasmonique.

Abstract: In this Note, we study numerically turbulent diffusion in the case of homogeneous stably stratified turbulence. This study is based on a linear analysis in spectral space. To express the Lagrangian velocity correlations using Eulerian correlations, we adapt the Corrsin assumption and then we calculate the tensor components of the mean square displacement. We begin by writing the basic linear equations governing the evolution of the spectra of double correlations then we present the Corrsin hypothesis as a model of turbulent diffusion. Subsequently, we describe the numerical method used and analyze the numerical results. Clearly, the Corrsin assumption can give the proper behavior, at large times, of the horizontal diffusion and improves the prediction of vertical diffusion. As an application of the numerical code elaborated, we study the influence of Prandtl number on the vertical diffusion which results in an accentuation of the suppression of vertical diffusion when the Prandtl number (less than 1) diminishes. Their catalytic, acid-base and redox properties were examined in the probe reaction of 2-propanol conversion at 150°C. The obtained results have shown that both nature of the coordination cation and its position in the polyoxometallate (inside Keggin unit, PMo11M or outside Keggin unit, MPMo12) play an important role on these properties. The chemical preparation, thermal analysis, crystal structure and IR spectroscopic investigation of (C10H26N4)(H2PO4)2.4H2O are described. The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic system with C2/c space group. Its unit cell dimensions are: a = 14.414(3) Å; b = 8.037(2) Å; c = 19.275(2) Å; β = 95.33(1)°; V = 2223.3(8) ų and Z = 4. The structure is built up from inorganic chains parallel to the b axis, linked via 0-H0 bonds. These chains are interconnected by water molecules. Thermal analysis reveals the presence of four water molecules in the structure. The IR spectrum of this new compound is reported and discussed on the basis of group theoretical analysis. Abstract: The imaging of gliomas, as well as diffuse infiltrative gliomas or as more recently individualized entities, has been profoundly modified these last years. Correlated with the classic morphological MRI, numerous new sequences have appeared that allowed a more metabolic approach of the tumors, such as diffusion, perfusion – related to angiogenesis – and spectroscopy – reflecting metabolic data. Their development in daily practice allows to precise the diagnostic, to definite the more active areas (correlated with the hyperperfused or more metabolic active areas in relation with the Ki67 index) and so optimize the biopsy and/or evaluate the evolution of the lesion. When associated, they allow also and perhaps especially to precise the diagnostic, particularly with other tumoral masses such as lymphomas or metastases that can present misleading patterns, but also with other more benign lesions such as abcesses. Always critically analysed, and reevaluated along the time if necesary, they can sometimes help the histological diagnosis, but never can be used in place of it. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Faunal remains from spoil heaps of two burrows inhabited by small carnivores (fox and badger) are analysed from a taphonomical point of view. This analysis provides characteristics for bone accumulation produced by small carnivores and will be a powerful tool for deciphering site formation about the occupational alternation of small carnivores and humans. Identified species were grouped by size classes. Faunal spectrum is composed by varied species of microfauna (70%), mesofauna (30%). Macromammal remains are under represented (less than 1%) and come from scavenged carcasses. Predators and consumed species are compared on the basis of the skeletal part representation, age classes and recording of predation marks (gnawed and digested bones). Skeletal part representation shows that all taxons exhibit a low-representation of axial skeleton and autopodial bones. Predators show a high representation of hind limb bones and a low representation of the fore limb bones whereas consumed species exhibit a reverse pattern. Mortality curve analysis provides an attritional profile for carnivores and helps for the establishment of the season of occupation of the burrow. Adults largely dominate consumed species. Moreover, predation marks are found in 1% of the carnivores’ bones and from 15% to more than 40% on prey bones. The large-sized prey bones only wear gnawed marks (20%) and anthropic marks (10–20%) whereas microfaunal remains exhibits more digested marks (40%) than gnawing stigmata (5%). Abstract: We define the notion of triangular (Leray–Koszul) spectral sequence and show that the Jordan spectral invariants of an endomorphism form a triangular spectral sequence. We introduce the concept of a universal coupling between a spectral sequence and a triangular spectral sequence and obtain a second spectral sequence associated to a Massey exact couple. This study explores the use of Machine Learning techniques for tool condition monitoring in metal machining. Pseudo-local Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) of vibration signals raised on the tool holder, coupled to a pass-band filter allowed the definition and the extraction of features which are very sensitive to the tool wear. These features are defined from sums of Fourier coefficients of the signals reconstructed by SSA and of their residues, in judiciously selected frequency bands. The rates of recognition of wear are very good and exceed 80%. This study highlights two important aspects: strong relevance of information in high frequency vibration components and benefits of the combination of SSA and pass-band filtering to get rid of useless components (noise). Abstract: MRI spectroscopy is a non invasive method for detecting active metabolites used as markers. Chorine and citrate are used for analyzing prostate cancer. MRI spectroscopy combines morphologic imaging and metabolic cartography. This combination allows a new approach for the diagnosis of prostate cancer in patients with negative biopsy and high levels of PSA. With MRI spectroscopy the local staging of prostate cancer has a better accuracy than with MRI alone. Abstract: The frequency analysis of many log data permits to verify that their stochastic component show ‘power-law-type’ spectral densities, characteristic of noise. They can be modelled by fractional Brownian motions. Continuous Wavelet Transformation (CWT) provides us with very efficient methods to determine the local spectral exponents of these scaling laws. These new attributes are related to the local fractality of these signals. We first present some theoretical results and an application to a fractional Brownian motion. The second application concerns a dataset recorded in the MAR203 borehole. We show that clustering of these new pseudo-logs leads to a good resolution between different lithofacies. Abstract: Selective T2 relaxation times measurement of intramyocellular and extramyocellular lipids in Zucker rats at 7 teslas. Several techniques have been used to quantify the concentration of muscular lipids, but they are invasive and cannot quantify accurately lipids inside the muscle cell from lipids outside. In vivo 1H-NMR spectroscopy is used to distinguish the two types of lipids. This technique is based on magnetic susceptibility difference experienced by intramyocellular and extramyocellular lipids. Nevertheless, the quantification of these lipids remains difficult due to lines-widths difference. Thus prior knowledge of the relaxation times of these two types of lipids is important to optimize this quantification. Abstract: Static and MAS solid-state study of supported phospholipid bilayer cylindrically oriented. Solid-state NMR spectroscopy has been used to investigate a biomimetic model membrane. In this model, the supported bilayers, obtained by fusion of SUVs, are tethered inside nanoporous aluminum oxide supports via a streptavidin/biotin spacer arm. The static and slow Magic-Angle Spinning deuterium NMR spectra of the tethered bilayers have been compared to the experimental and simulated spectra of a simpler model with cylindrical geometry, namely a phospholipid bilayer adsorbed on an oriented polymer (PET) sheet. MAS experimental spectra of both models are in good agreement with the simulated spectrum of an ideal cylindrical distribution of phospholipids. A structural modification of the TNF moiety allows different packing structures. Abstract: Nuclear magnetic spectroscopy (MRS) is a useful method for noninvasively studying intracerebral metabolism. Proton MRS can identify markers of the neuronal viability (N-acetyl-aspartate, NAA), of the metabolism of cellular membranes (choline), of the cellular energy metabolism (creatine, lactate). In Phosphorus MRS, the peaks most readily identified are involved in the high-energy cellular metabolism (ATP, phosphocreatine, inorganic phosphate), and intracellular pH (pHi) can be determined using this method. MRS has been used in experimental models of traumatic brain injury (TBI), primarily to study the cellular metabolism and the relation between biochemical and histological changes after trauma. In trauma patients, significant changes in NAA, choline and pHi were found in both grey and white matter comparing with controls, and these alterations correlated with injury severity. Correlations have been reported between these biochimical changes (reduction in NAA, increase in choline) measured at 1 to 6 months after TBI and the clinical outcome of the patients. However, there are methodological issues which still impede to recommend MRS as a tool for predicting neurological outcome in the clinical setting. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Different diagenetic transformations and their relative chronological sequence are studied in the meteoric diagenetic zone from the Upper Oligocene limestone at the North of the Aquitaine Basin (France), by combining high-resolution cathodoluminescence spectroscopy and electron-microprobe analyses. More than 128 spot analyses by electron microprobe and 60 analyses by cathodoluminescence spectroscopy are done on different meteoric cements firstly identified by classic optical microscopy. Three cement types are identified according to the relative intensity of the bands of their respective cathodoluminescence spectra (350, 380, 430, 500, and 620 nm). From these investigations, we could identify for each meteoric cement different phases of crystalline growth and crystalline dissolution. As a result, a better and more realistic meteoric diagenetic model is proposed. It illustrates the cyclic transformations from vadose zone (unsaturated) to meteoric zone (saturated). Objectives. – To review the literature on chronic exertional compartment syndrome.Methods. – We searched the Medline database with use of the keys words compartment syndrome, exertional, chronic, pressure, and fasciotomy.Results. – Exertional compartment syndrome is characterized by pain on exertion, which recedes at rest, and by excessive increase in compartment intramuscular pressure. Intramuscular pressure measurement is the reference diagnostic tool, but it has not been standardized or evaluated. Pressure observed during the first 5 min after exertion stops is more often used in diagnosis. The first studies of noninvasive investigations (magnetic resonance imaging, thallium single-photon emission tomographic imaging, near infrared spectroscopy) revealed their inadequate diagnostic value. The pathophysiological features of exertional compartment syndrome remain unclear: increased muscle bulk, fascia thickness and stiffness, stimulation of fascial sensory stretch-receptors, poor venous return, micromuscular injuries, and small clinical myopathic abnormalities. Treatment includes decreased sport activity or fasciotomy with partial fasciectomy. Several authors have used endoscopically assisted fasciotomy, which retrospective studies have shown to be successful. Long-term outcome studies could investigate the persistence of exertional minor pain and recurrence of the compartment syndrome with this treatment.Conclusion. – Further studies are required to understand the physiopathology, standardize the intramuscular pressure test and evaluate the pressure threshold values, evaluate noninvasive investigations and specify the long-term outcome of fasciotomy. In this paper, we present a simple method that allows, among other things, to determine the absorption coefficient of X-rays from reflectivity measurements. This method is applicable if the analysed material is deposited on a substrate denser than the material layer, so that the X-rays reflectivity spectra exhibit two well-resolved descents. In such cases, the amplitude of the first descent (characteristic of the material layer) is directly related to the linear absorption coefficient of the material constituting the layer. We have been able to clarify this relationship and apply it successfully for several cases of materials, especially amorphous carbon and silicon. The articles were analysed in order to obtain current data about the methods of study and clinical application of blood pressure and heart rate variability.Data synthesis. – Various regulatory systems in the cardiovascular system play crucial roles in controlling and assuring adequate perfusion of the peripheral tissues. Among them the baroreceptor reflex is the most important regulatory mechanism in the short-term control of the heart rate and blood pressure, and operates through the autonomic nervous system. The gain of the cardiac baroreflex further referred to, as baroreflex sensitivity is an interesting way to study this system. Unfortunately, with our current knowledge, it is not possible to predict the instantaneous output of the baroreceptor in response to instantaneous changes in input within a frequency range of physiological importance. The fast Fourier transform can describe variables as the sum of elementary oscillatory components and it has been established as practical clinical methods for detecting abnormalities in cardiovascular control. A time–frequency distribution provides an indication of how the spectral energy distribution varies with time and it is an interesting tool in non-stationary data. One of the major motivations behind spectral analysis is the hope that the combination of time–domain and frequency–domain analyses will provide dynamical informations about the relation between blood pressure and heart rate. Objective. – To assess the efficacy of ECG spectral analysis, compared with heart rate (HR) monitoring in the detection of vagal response to surgical stimuli.Methods. – Twenty Asa II–III patients (age: 65 ± 13 years) scheduled for surgery of cerebellopontine angle or implantation of sacral root stimulator were examined. Target controlled infusion of propofol (2–4 μg ml–1) and remifentanil (4 ng ml–1) was guided by the bispectral index (Bis). Arterial pressure via a radial catheter, pulse oximetry and end tidal CO2 were continuously monitored. Spectral analysis was achieved by connecting a computer to the cardiorespiratory monitor. Online power spectrum densities were calculated from the ECG R–R interval by software based on the fast Fourier transform (LabView™, National Instruments, USA). Low frequency (LF: 0.04–0.15Hz) and high frequency (HF: 0.15–0.4Hz) were associated with sympathetic and parasympathetic activities respectively. We defined vagal reaction as a decrease in FC or an increase in HF >10% of the prestimuli value. HF and FC were compared according to the detection delay (by a Student t test with p < 0.05 considered significant) and a concordance test with a kappa coefficient (κ): –1 = total discordance to 1 = total concordance.Results. – Twelve vagal reactions (observed in 8 patients) were detected within 5.5 ± 1.3 s (HF) and 12.4 ± 1.6 (FC) ; p < 0.001. Concordance between the 2 parameters was 95% (κ =0.9).Conclusion. – The ECG spectral analysis is a non-invasive technique, which permits the detection of intra-operative vagal reactions earlier than conventional monitoring of HR. Annealing in the same conditions of natural tourmalines is consistent with these results. La solution analytique de l'équation de transport/relaxation 3-D nous permet d'obtenir le profile des lignes spectrales élargies sous les effets Doppler et de pression. Dans le cadre de l'approximation d'impact, nous tenons compte de la dépendance en vitesse de l'élargissement et du déplacement causés par les collisions élastiques ainsi que du rétrécissement de Dicke dû aux collisions inélastiques. Nous avons utilisé les modèles de Rautian--Sobelman et de Keilson--Storer pour décrire ces dernières. Nous trouvons, dans la limite haute densité ou hydrodynamique, que les deux modèles donnent un profile qui est une somme pondérée de profiles de Lorentz si l'élargissement par collision est plus grand que la fréquence des collisions inélastiques ou un profile de Lorentz ordinaire dans le cas opposé. Ceci démontre que la grandeur relative des sections efficaces optique et cinématique est importante pour déterminer la forme des courbes d'absorption. Les solutions analytiques peuvent ˆtre utiles pour modéliser les courbes d'absorption dans les sondages à distance de l'atmosphère. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Seeds of tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum L. cv. Gribovsky‐1180) and carrot (Daucus carota L. cv. Santanet) were irradiated by continuous light of different wavelengths (white, blue, green, red, far‐red and He‐Ne laser) and different power density. Free radical output was measured using Electron Spin Resonance spectra (ESR). The dependence of the content of free radicals (FR) on the light power density was established. The yield of FR in the seeds irradiated with monochromatic light of the same power density was inversely proportional to the wavelength. The ESR spectra showed maximum absolute number of FR for white light. Successive irradiations gave cumulative effects on the output of free radicals in both directions: increase by the action of white light and decrease by the action of red and far‐red light. The contact of irradiated seeds with steam decreased the amount of FR. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Our research is a contribution to studies on secondary acoustic cues in Mandarin tone identification, by comparing acoustic data collected in modal speech and in whispered speech. According to the literature on the same issue, theses cues could be found in acoustic dimensions other than in the fundamental frequency, as a set of attributes. We have analyzed these attributes in the temporal domain, at the intensity level and in the spectrum, as well as their relations with tones. Our results show that some temporal parameters and the fourth resonance in the spectrum are very closely related to tones. These relations are dependent on the intrinsic characteristics of the vowel that carries the tone (which is equivalent to the rime in our research)., Notre recherche est une contribution à l’étude des indices acoustiques secondaires des tons lexicaux en mandarin, comparant les données recueillies en parole modale avec celles obtenues en parole chuchotée. Selon la littérature, ces indices devraient se présenter en tant qu’un ensemble d’attributs dans les dimensions acoustiques du spectre, outre que dans la fréquence fondamentale. Nous avons analysé des attributs temporels, des attributs au niveau de l’intensité, des attributs spectraux, ainsi que leur corrélation avec les tons. Les résultats montrent que certains paramètres temporels et la quatrième résonance du spectre sont étroitement liés au ton. Leurs rapports dépendent de la caractéristique intrinsèque de la voyelle qui porte le ton (équivalente de la rime dans notre recherche).

The Spectral Hole Burning property, found in some rare-earth ion-doped crystals at low temperature is particularly relevant for analogic processing of radiofrequency signals. Indeed, it enables processing functions to be programmed in the crystal’s absorption spectrum.Starting with the first demonstrations of a wideband radiofrequency spectrum analyser, we aim at improving its performances, which requires an accurate modelling of the light-matter interaction and all the perturbations arising from the upgrade in TRL (Technology Readiness Level). Therefore, we have developed a model and extended its validity domain to a broad variety of SHB-based protocols.We applied this model on a particular material, namely a Tm³ ⁺:YAG crystal. After measuring experimentally the relevant intrinsic parameters of this crystal, we applied our model to a protocol which is quite similar to the one of the spectrum analyser we aim at optimizing, namely the engraving of wideband spectral gratings. The comparison of our experimental results to the simulations from our model proved its validity.Finally we applied it to the exact case of the radiofrequency spectrum analyser. With the simulations, we determined how to improve its performances, and particularly increase the dynamic range with realistic experimental parameters.; La propriété de creusement spectral, que l’on retrouve dans certains cristaux dopés aux ions de terres rares refroidis à basse température offre des possibilités prometteuses pour le traitement analogique de signaux radiofréquence. En effet, celle-ci permet de programmer des fonctions de traitement dans le spectre d’absorption du cristal.Partant des premières démonstrations de principe d’un analyseur spectral radiofréquence large bande instantanée, l’objectif est d’en améliorer les performances, ce qui requiert une modélisation précise de l’interaction laser-matière et de l’ensemble des perturbations inhérentes à la montée en maturité technologique du dispositif. Nous avons par conséquent développé un modèle et cherché à étendre son domaine de validité pour qu’il s’applique à un maximum de protocoles.Nous l’avons ensuite appliqué à un matériau en particulier, à savoir un cristal de Tm³ ⁺ :YAG. Après avoir effectué une série de mesures des différentes caractéristiques intrinsèques à ce cristal, nous avons choisi un protocole d’application relativement proche de celui de l’analyseur spectral que nous cherchons à optimiser, à savoir la création de réseaux spectraux large bande. La comparaison des résultats expérimentaux à ceux de notre modèle nous a permis de démontrer sa validité.Nous avons finalement appliqué notre modèle au cas précis de l’analyseur spectral radiofréquence. Les simulations nous ont permis de déterminer théoriquement comment optimiser ses performances, en particulier la dynamique, avec des paramètres réalistes, atteignables expérimentalement.

The question of clad failures detection, through the monitoring of potentially released fission products in the primary sodium, is of utmost importance for SFR type generation IV reactors, and in particular for the future ASTRID industrial demonstrator. This thesis aims to propose ways to significantly improve the nuclear instrumentation dedicated to clad failures detection. A first study regarding the signal-to- noise ratio of the existing instrumentation, which is based on Delayed Neutron Detection (DND), is proposed. The experience feedback, as well as the Monte Carlo simulations, shows a disturbance of the useful neutron signal by photoneutrons produced in the polyethylene. A material replacement solution based on the use of graphite is proposed, and its performances are evaluated by Monte Carlo simulations and experiments. The second lead followed, technologically more ambitious, consists in enriching the existing instrumentation by introducing an innovative method, based on high count rate gamma spectroscopy on the primary sodium. In addition to bringing redundancy to the current instrumentation, such a spectroscopy would permit to enrich the clad failure diagnosis with an earlier and more complete measure (broader range of accessible fission products). First, a feasibility study is carried out using Monte Carlo simulations, by modeling a measurement station and simulating the HPGe detector response. Minimal detectable activities are calculated for the fission products of interest, and compared with results from simulations of release following a clad failure scenario. In a second stage, high count rate gamma spectroscopy using the ADONIS spectrometry system developed by CEA LIST was tested and validated in a real environment, by installing a measuring station on the ISABELLE 1 fuel pin irradiation loop at the OSIRIS reactor. Several irradiations have been monitored in this thesis, two of which allowed to follow a clad failure process using this approach., La problématique de détection de ruptures de gaines, via le suivi des produits de fission potentiellement relâchés dans le sodium primaire, apparaît d’une importance capitale pour les réacteurs de génération 4 de type RNR-Na et en particulier pour le futur démonstrateur industriel ASTRID. Cette thèse vise à proposer des voies d’améliorations notables de l’instrumentation nucléaire dédiée à la détection de ces ruptures de gaines. Une première étude relative à l’optimisation en termes de rapport signal sur bruit de l’instrumentation existante, basée sur la détection des neutrons retardés (Delayed Neutron Detection), est proposée. Le retour d’expérience ainsi que les simulations Monte-Carlo réalisées démontrent une perturbation du signal neutronique utile par les photoneutrons produits dans le polyéthylène. Une solution de remplacement de ce matériau, basée sur l’utilisation de graphite, est proposée et ses performances évaluées via des simulations Monte-Carlo et une campagne d’expériences. La seconde piste étudiée, technologiquement plus ambitieuse, concerne l’enrichissement de l’instrumentation existante via l’introduction d’une méthode innovante, reposant sur une spectrométrie gamma hauts taux de comptage sur le sodium caloporteur. Au-delà d’apporter une redondance à l’instrumentation actuelle, une telle spectrométrie permettrait d’enrichir le diagnostic de rupture de gaine par une mesure plus complète et plus précoce (plus large gamme de produits de fission accessible). Dans un premier temps, une étude de faisabilité est menée par simulation Monte-Carlo, via la modélisation d’un poste de mesure et la simulation de la réponse du détecteur HPGe. Des activités minimales détectables sont calculées pour les produits de fission d’intérêt et comparées à des résultats de simulation de rejet, suite à un scénario de perte d’étanchéité de la gaine. Dans un second temps, la spectrométrie gamma hauts taux de comptage, basée sur l’utilisation de la chaîne de spectrométrie ADONIS développée par le CEA LIST, a été testée et validée en environnement réel, grâce à l’installation d’un poste de mesure sur la boucle d’irradiation de crayons combustible ISABELLE 1 du réacteur OSIRIS. Plusieurs campagnes d’irradiations ont été suivies dans le cadre de cette thèse, deux d’entre elles permettant de suivre un processus de rupture de gaine à l’aide de cette approche.
