SELF-perception , *RHETORIC - Abstract
The candidature of Eric Zemmour, a far-right polemicist journalist, in the 2022 presidential election has aroused the indignation and amazement of political leaders of all stripes. The polemicist held on December 5, 2021 in Villepinte his first major meeting since his announcement, where he tried to restore his image and present an ethos of the ideal leader. The purpose of this article is to analyze the images that Zemmour broadcasts of himself during the meeting as well as the different strategies he uses to convey an ethos favorable to his person. It is a question of determining the different constructions that the candidate makes of his own image. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this article is to identify and describe the self-perceptions of those retraining and preparing for the teaching profession. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: The research problem was formulated as follows: how do postgraduate students who are retraining to become teachers perceive themselves as future teachers? Data were obtained from postgraduate students who wrote essays on Why did I choose to study teacher training and what kind of teacher would I like to be? The method of qualitative text analysis was used to analyze the essays, which were treated as secondary data. THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The first part of the article focuses on the importance of positive self-image and self-concept in motivation for development, as they strengthen self-esteem, and translate it into attitudes and inner containment. In the empirical section, based on Leary’s concept, three main categories were identified. RESEARCH RESULTS: The analysis shows that the respondents’ project of themselves in the professional role of a teacher is declarative only. The categories and qualities that the respondents mentioned refer both to their negative (by contrast) and positive school experiences. Positive self-perception through the characteristics described, experiences of working in other professions and passions all motivate positive work on oneself and are a condition for becoming a teacher. CONCLUSION, INNOVATIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS: In the final conclusions, a proposal was made for a new way of recruiting and temporary qualification for the teaching profession. Attention was paid to strengthening intrinsic motivation to work on one’s development as a prerequisite for preparing for work and becoming a teacher.

- Abstract

According to Paul Ricoeur, « The text is the medium through which one understands oneself ». Claude Vigée (1921-2020), as a Jewish writer, tries to receive, embrace and perpetuate the identity conveyed by the Holy Scriptures into his own writing, while also relating it to his life. Asserting oneself as part of a vaster destiny or History; developing a better self-knowledge in the light of a shared relation to the world; finding one's reflection in Biblical figures, but also relinquishing one's Self for a better understanding of one's belonging: these are the paths taken by Vigée for this identity quest which implies the pursuit of the father - or, rather, of the Biblical Fathers - in a fully assumed filiation. We propose in this article to study the construction of self-image in the speech of François Hollande. The methodology adopted is essentially the enunciative and argumentative approach. This study allowed us to identify the enunciative structure of so-called political discourse by relying on the enunciative processes employed by the left-wing candidate. Our body of studywas the speech delivered in Toulouse on 03/05/2012. The results showed that the candidate hadremarkable discursive skills thatallowedhim to benefitfrom the arguments of others to strengthenhisown. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ADAPTABILITY (Personality) , *SOCIAL perception , *SELF-perception , *DEVELOPMENTAL psychology , *TASK performance , *SOCIAL psychology - Abstract
The self is a crucial component of the psychic life and plays a central role for the adaptation to the environment. In daily life, this adaptative function is ensured, inter alia, by numerous biases filtering information and favoring those which are self-related. After succinctly reviewing the most documented among them which are affective and mnesic biases, the current paper provides a critical review of literature about a bias which is supposed to be perceptive, the self-prioritization effect (SPE). That has been revealed by Sui et al. (2012, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 38(5), 1105) with an astute matching task and consists in the fact that arbitrarily tagging shapes to a word referring to the participant (e.g., you--square) leads to faster and more accurate responses as compared to shapes tagged to a word referring to another identity (e.g., strange--circle). The methodological variations of this task and the SPE's both extension and putative origins will be presented, as well as the restrictions which border it, related to the individuals, to the experimental situation and to some more general properties of the self. Finally, some avenues for future research will be proposed, drawing some promising paths: beyond being a robust and intriguing phenomenon, SPE can indeed be considered as a convenient tool to assess some mechanisms underlying social cognition, in various fields using an experimental approach such as developmental psychology and social psychology. In Marie de Sévigné's letters, some kinds of chronicles tell long and painful illnesses in a paradoxical comic tone. Their first aim is reassuring correspondents. But laughing together has moreover a comforting and perhaps curative function for the patient. On the one hand, by practising self-mockery, the letter-writer regains control of the self-image damaged by illness; on the other hand, she neutralises the pain and anxiety by creating a kind of comic theatre where the doctors, the entourage and the symptoms become comic characters; finally, she seeks the help of the epistolary community by sharing the laughter. Thus laughter is a process of distancing that allows the writer to refuse to be reduced to her body. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Sub-Psychodrama: a New Dramatic Form by Jean-Luc Lagarce. It is exactly by a neologism of a “sub-psychodrama†that the playwright and French director Jean-Luc Lagarce (1957-1995) defined one of his plays. The similarities between psycho dramatic practices and Lagarce’s dramatic works are obvious. As in the context of psycho dramatic practice, Lagarce’s characters take on roles and identify with them from a carnal as well as linguistic point of view. The situation in which Lagarce’s characters meet is very close to that which is, among others, treated by psychodramatists: the dialogue is not initialized, the individuals are stuck in their reproaches and focus only on their own points of view. Lagarce’s characters use the theatricalization, the putting in voice of a dramatic text of one of them in order to launch the speech that awaited this moment of expression. The sub-psychodrama, while being a poetic and dramatic concept of Lagarce, reveals the dialogical malaise in the contemporary society that the sub-psychodrama quotes while highlighting the complex mechanisms of the intersubjective perception as well as the mechanisms of our individual and collective memory. Both reflective self-perception, which goes from oneself to oneself, and transitive perception, which goes from oneself to the other or from the other to oneself – in the context of a speech act. The sub psychodrama presents itself, therefore, as a dialogical and perceptive field of battle where the spoken word is in search of its answer. The sub-psychodrama invented and developed by Lagarce puts the concept of paper beings – linguistic puppets – at the same level, while promoting the coalition of puppet theater and word drama. Therapeutic patient education programmes for obese patients combining art-therapy and therapeutic gardening deeply mobilises the interiority of obese people. They contribute to the improvement of the quality of life as well as the patients' self-esteem. Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate a therapeutic education programme combining garden and art-therapy proposed to a group of obese patients. Method: 12 sessions of "garden and art-therapy" have been proposed to 12 obese patients during one year. Following the cycle of the seasons, different themes have been treated in relation to the experience of patients suffering from obesity. A 2-hour focus group bringing together the participants at the end of the programme allowed the evaluation of this process. Results: adherence to the programme was 85%. The verbatims of the patients collected during the focus group were divided into 7 categories: nature as resource, sensory garden, garden as mediator to connect with oneself, metaphorical garden as source of expression, creation with art-therapy, influence of the group and different approaches of care. Conclusion: The association of garden and art-therapy in a therapeutic patient education programme seems to be relevant and could be transposed to other chronic diseases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ekaterina Breshko-Breshkovskaia is one of the better-known protagonists of the Russian Revolution, often referred to as the grandmother (babushka) of the revolution. Her auto/biographical writings have been composed in different periods and to different audiences. Therefore, the question of whether the presentation of babushka’s autobiography and of the revolutionary movement changed over the course of time and in view of the audience is of particular interest. How did Breshko-Breshkovskaia represent the revolutionary cause, the revolutionary biography, and the ideals of a revolutionist’s life? Which strategies did she use to attract the audience and how did she explain her pathway to radicalization? What does this tell us about the self-perception of the revolutionaries – and especially female revolutionaries – or at least of babushka’s concept of a revolutionary life?

Therapeutic patient education (TPE) has been developed to deal with chronic diseases. Pedagogical models centered on the patients have allowed them to better understand and treat their disease. However, knowledge is necessary but it is not sufficient. In a second step, psychological models have supported the patient to live better, to accept the unacceptable disease. TPE help us to arouse patients' motivation, seek a better quality of life and a regained autonomy. This article proposes a 3rd generation therapeutic patient education which leads us to a great reflection: what does motivate patients to care about themselves? What is the purpose of our life? What are our values? Could a 3rd generation therapeutic patient education make us grow? With 'the casita of resources" and together with patients, we seek their resources to improve their self-esteem, to accompany them in the strength of their values, give a purpose to their life and to their path. To heal, it is necessary to be kind to oneself to keep an identity despite the disease, "otherwise, we risk being next to ourselves". [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Obese patients retreat in reduced self-perception due to the weight of their suffering. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of dance therapy on self-perception and quality of life in obese patients and patients at post bariatric surgery. Methods: Four groups similar in weight and age did participate in a dance therapy group. One 36weeks program without control group, one 16weeks program with a control group and one 18 weeks program for patients at one year post bariatric surgery. We measured self esteem, body esteem, quality of life, body awareness, and mental representation of body shape before and after dance therapy in each group. Results: Dance therapy improves all these elements except the mental representation of body shape which stayed inadequate in each group. The control group did not improve neither the qualilty of life nor the self-esteem. Conclusion: A short or a long program in dance therapy contributes to the transformation of self-perception which improves the quality of life. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

SELF-perception - Abstract
Drawing on Perelman &Obrechts-Tyteca’s work, we are questioning as a corollary the means that would enable students enrolled in a bachelor's and master'sdegree in French as a foreignlanguage to succeed in their argumentative writing. Thus, we postulate that the concession, as a rhetorical figure and argumentative movement, is notoriously based on a compromise established between the image of the argumentator and that of the public he aims to convince; the ethos and pathos of the two antagonistic parts. Our contribution thus identifies the image of the argumentator and the other through this argumentative movement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This essay addresses a growing phenomenon whereby various aspects of our lives, from the professional to the personal, are being continuously scrutinised and rated though sets of metric parameters. We substantiate this claim with empirical evidence, and argue that these rating exercises may ultimately provide an illusion of rigour while in fact being dominated by subjective undercurrents and modes of impact.

From childhood to adulthood, adolescence phase transition, implies many lifestyle changes. This study aims to investigate the perception of adolescent girls of their own diet and health status. A cross-sectional study, using a structured face-to-face administered questionnaire, were carried out in 395 adolescent girls 15 - 19 years old in secondary schools in Cotonou, in Benin. Chi 2 and Wilcoxon - Mann Whitney tests were performed to appreciate the variables associations. Logistic regression was executed to appraise the effect of self-perception on dietary practices. The average age of the participants was 16.7 ± 1.26 years. The prevalence of self-reported anaemia, diet quality and overweight/obesity was 18.23%; 57.72% and 9.87% respectively. Considering school character, more adolescents in private schools perceived themselves as being “overweight/obese” (22.8%) compared to their peers from public schools (0.4%). Self-perceived anaemia was related to dark green leafy vegetable and vitamin C-rich fruits consumption while self-perceived overweight/obesity decrease the consumption of meat and meat products. Adolescents who perceived their own diet as healthy reached the Minimum Dietary Diversity. The findings of this study highlight the importance of self-perception in adolescents eating habits and this should be considered in interventions improving their diet quality.

PERCEPTION (Philosophy) , *SELF-perception , *MEDITATION , *CONSCIOUSNESS , *ANTICIPATION (Patents) - Abstract
A number of activities of care aim at accompanying the sick to find their physical perceptions. Knowing one's own perceptions constitutes a new learning. Among these specific activities, we focused on the meditation in full consciousness proposed to chronically ill patients. Considering the viewpoint of the subjects on their experience, we wondered what the live on the occasion of this activity of meditation. Thanks to interviews to the explicitation, we can describe a lived experience committing an acute perception of their body but also of their environment. We noticed that the presence of an expression in the third person marks a “re-lived" experience of previous events. With the meditative experience, these former perceptions are transformed by perceptions experimented during the meditative activity and the subject can act on their action and more particularly on their anticipation.

So far there has been no detailed research done in Lithuania that would allow to analyze the attitudes of the Russian-speaking citizens towards their native language. In this article, an attempt is made to determine the subtle relation between the Lithuanian citizens of non-Lithuanian nationality and the Russian language which is considered to be native in their families, while they either are Russians or identify themselves as Russians. Certain questions concerning this problem are taken into consideration: do Russian-speaking citizens feel good about using their native language; do they feel affinity to Russia as their symbolic homeland or the mother country of their language; do they want their children to have a good command of Russian and consider it their native language; is their relationship with their native language affected by the manifestation of Russophobia in public discourse and mass media. The data of the sociolinguistic projects Language Use and Ethnic Identity in Lithuanian Cities (2007–2009) and A Sociolinguistic Map of Lithuania (2010–2012) focussing on Vilnius, Klaipėda and Visaginas is discussed. These cities have been selected as the ones with the largest Russian-speaking population as compared to other regions of Lithuania. The analysis of in-depth interviews reveals that for the Russian-speaking people in Lithuania the native language remains the only real indicator of their ethnic self-identification. Most of the respondents do not regard Russia as a country close to them in terms of lifestyle and mentality, they do not perceive Russia as a symbolic concept defining their self-identity; it is for them the space of their mother tongue. The respondents claim that they value their mother tongue, see it as emotionally closest and stress the relation between the Russian language and culture as well as the pragmatic value of knowing Russian nowadays. Young respondents declare that they intend to do their best to pass their mother tongue to their future children. However, the intentions of the Russian-speaking people of Lithuania to support the vitality of their native language, which requires more effort than is usual for people living in the environment of a different language. In the Lithuanian media and online comment sections, ethnic and linguistic intolerance towards local people who speak another language is livened up periodically. Therefore Russian-speaking residents of Lithuania need to be psychologically strong in order to resist the pressure of public discourse and to sustain their native language.

- Abstract
Conclusion Cette étude permet d’affiner notre compréhension du processus addictif. Objectives The video game is part to social and economic current events. It's also one of preferential activities of adolescents. However, video gaming is associated to negative image and is sometimes considered as a problematic behavior. Thus, video games addiction becomes an object of the clinic. The avatar – character from the video game embodied, directed and played by the player – and the virtual world – namely the environment of the avatar – are the two essential components of any video game. The avatar would be a possibility to change different parts of self. In addition, depression is a comorbidity of addiction and cyberaddiction. Moreover, in reference of the self-discrepancy theory, depressive symptomatology should correspond to a significant gap between the actual self and the ideal self. The aim of this study is to provide an understanding of the addictive videogame behavior, in the light of the “real” and “virtual” self-perception and of the depressive symptomatology. Methods This work was conducted with 74 adolescents aged from 11 to 14 years (Mage = 12.78 and SD = 0.921). The instruments used were the Game Addiction Scale, the Profile of self-perception - used with two different instructions in order to measure the perception about real and virtual self - and the Child Depression Inventory. Results Regarding GAS scores from the 74 adolescents, 14 adolescents were considered as addicted to video games, and 15 adolescents presented a depressive symptomatology. The results showed that this “depressive” adolescents had a perception of real and virtual self less than others adolescents, their virtual self-perception tended to be greater than real self-perception. In addition, adolescents considered as addicted to video games presented a depressive symptomatology higher than other adolescents. Furthermore, virtual self-perception, self-perception and depressive symptomatology were explicative from videogame addictive process. Conclusions These results lead us to question the video games addictive process as a functional restoration of identity, in order to reduce a major source of distress in adolescent. We consider it as the object of a “re-construction of self” in order to raise its self-perception and to reduce its suffering. In against part, a gap is created with the everyday environment, thus reinforcing the depressive symptomatology and addictive behavior. This addictive behavior would be a double process, both cause and consequence of the suffering of the subject, and wherein the failure of the self-image is a central axis. Nonetheless, questions arise concerning the relationship between the player and his avatar, but also on the impact of different formats of video games on this process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This report highlights how Jacques Quintin’s Ethique de l’accompagnement – Une approche existentielle enables an understanding of the relationship with the Other, and in particular the caregiver-patient relationship, in an ethical way. This book demonstrates that the role of the caregiver lies in supporting the sick person and their entourage in order to guide them in a process of reflection, self-examination, deliberation and decision making on the question of their own existence and self-understanding. This work is a remarkable development, but also a guide, in the implementation of clinical ethics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The choking game can take place at break time in the schoolyard, at the adolescent's home or in other places. It is one of the new risky behaviors observed among teenagers. The study focused on the ordeal aspect of the "game" and the risk of becoming addicted to it. The sample included ten 13-15 year-old Secondary students (5 boys; 5girls) who admitted taking part in choking game. Data were collected using a directive interview covering several components: awareness of the danger associated with the game, associated self-relaxing characteristics, risk as it is evaluated by the adolescent, possible dependence, experienced anxiety, body image and narcissistic traits. GIFTED teenagers , *SELF-perception , *WECHSLER Intelligence Scale for Children , *HIGH school students , *INTELLIGENCE levels , *SOCIOCULTURAL factors , *STUDENTS - Abstract
Abstract: Objective: Students are considered intellectually gifted when their intellectual quotient (IQ) scores on scales such as the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (e.g., WISC IV) are 130 or higher. The socio-emotional development of these intellectually gifted students and, more specifically, the development of their self-concept, are of growing interest among today''s parents, teachers, practicing psychologists and directors of institutions. This research apprehends some characteristics of the discourse of self among French gifted high school teenagers who have spent their scholarship in heterogeneous classes (i.e. in “ordinary” classes). Methods: Our sample include 84 gifted high school students (Intelligence Quotient more or equal to 130), whose age ranges from 13 to 18years old (M=15.5; σ=1.0). These high school students are compared with 84 “mainstream” high school students (who have never been identified as gifted from an Intelligence Quotient greater than or equal to 130 and who have never skipped classes) on various criteria: gender, family (sociocultural background and information about siblings) and scholarship situation (the class they are in, if they have already repeated a class or not, average school marks). Each of these teenagers has produced a text in response to the question “Who am I?”. Results: We present here the results of the lexicometric analysis (Alceste software, version 4.7) performed on all the collected textual data. The lexicometric analysis of the corpus made up of texts written by gifted and non-gifted adolescents in response to the question “Who am I?” made it possible to identify a discourse specific to gifted adolescents. Gifted adolescents adopted a reflexive discourse by which they questioned their own identity and the general construction of identity as well as other wider themes such as happiness, difference, relations with others, etc. The existential questions frequently attributed to gifted adolescents were thus found here. The atypical intelligence of a gifted adolescent, with its extreme richness and complexity, gave the young person an incredible lucidity, a sharp analysis of things, people and himself. This intelligence enabled a fine analysis of all environmental elements. This way of being in the world, constantly in search of meaning, seemed to create a permanent and diffuse anxiety, one which could not be calmed by certitudes: the beginning of every answer appeared to indefatigably lead to new questions, new interrogations, new anxieties. None of the three classes, however, was significantly associated with non-gifted adolescents. These results lead us to moderate the idea that the representations of self of gifted adolescents are very different from those of non-gifted young people. Beyond the characteristics related to the status of gifted versus mainstream teenagers, the speech of self is linked to gender, age, sociocultural background and educational attainment of adolescents. Conclusion: Taking account of gifted teenagers’ speech of self allows understanding more accurately their experiences and how they integrate or not giftedness to their identity. In addition, the comparison of results obtained on samples of gifted adolescents to those obtained with non-gifted adolescents with similar sociobiographical sheds light on the characteristics of self-representations of gifted adolescents. Finally, the recognition of the heterogeneity of this population (and the identification of variables that might explain it) encourages to take them into account and to adapt solutions to their teenagers’ profiles.
