Jorge Urrutia is a renowned intellectual writer, son of the more influential French thought in the half century. He appears on the literaly panorama showing the signs of the time in a period when new proposals for innovative genres are made. He also introduces a taste for novelty, characterized by a moderate and omphálico existentialism and an estrangement from silence and from that disturbing normality which used to annoy the recanters of the ‘80s. Unravelling between the classicist tradition in free verse and the novelty of the proema, the poet makes use of formal ways which keep their distance from impudence and sorrow. His poetic is a belated poetic influenced by existentialism and elegy whose horizon is represented by the pursuit of serenity. Jorge Urrutia tries, in a construcitve way, to replace the comings and goings of experience with serenity. He also tries to appease the cry of pain and control, in particular, that ‘unnoticed song’ he can never free himself from because the ‘Etrurian smile of the distance’ can both appease and control the instinct, so that experience, which is supposed to be peaceful, can be turned into elegy.

We report the serendipitous discovery of a human plasma phosphate binding protein (HPBP). This 38 kDa protein is co-purified with paraoxonase (PON1). The association between HPON1 and HPBP is modulated by phosphate and calcium concentrations. The HPBP X-ray structure solved at 1.9 A resolution is similar to the prokaryotic phosphate solute-binding proteins (SBPs) associated with ATP binding cassette transmembrane transporters, though phosphate-SBPs have never been characterized or predicted from nucleic acid databases in eukaryotes. However, HPBP belongs to the family of ubiquitous eukaryotic proteins named DING, meaning that phosphate-SBPs are also widespread in eukaryotes. The absence of complete genes for eukaryotic phosphate-SBP from databases is intriguing, but the astonishing 90% sequence conservation of genes between evolutionary distant species suggests that the corresponding proteins play an important function. HPBP is the first identified transporter capable of binding phosphate ions in human plasma. Thus it is thought to become a new predictor and a potential therapeutic agent for phosphate-related diseases such as atherosclerosis.

Pneumatocele, a special form of lung injury, is characterized by intrathoracic images of cavities detected on X-ray films. These cavities develop immediately after a trauma of the thorax, disappear rapidly and have a relatively favourable outcome.

The authors report a case with a double mitral orifice associated with a single auricle; it was operated on successfully. It was unnecessary to carry out any surgical procedure on the mitral valve itself, as it was functioning normally. A review of the literature follows.

Clomipramine used alone is an affective analgesic against organic pain due to a lesion of the peripheral nervous system, in particular post-herpetic pain. No complications were seen, even in very elderly patients.
