Abstract

New millimeter-wave wireless communication systems can be strongly impacted by the blockage introduced by the human body. At 60 GHz, the coverage of these systems is relatively limited due to high propagation losses. Thus, beamforming allows to find a reflective path to replace the blocked one. In this work, the study focuses on the impact of a human blocker in a meeting room, to evaluate the blocking losses introduced by the human body at 60 GHz. The results obtained in terms of path loss and channel impulse response show that the attenuation by the human body is between 24 and 26 dB. Moreover, the results show that the use of beamforming allows to exploit the reflected paths to replace the direct link that can be blocked by the human body., Comment: in French language

Abstract

It has become clear that early career astrophysics researchers (doctoral researchers, post-docs, etc) have a very diverse appreciation of their career, with some declaring it the best job that you can have and others suffering from overwork, harrassment and stress from the precarity of their job, and associated difficulties. In order to establish how astrophysics researchers, primarily in France, experience their career, we sent out a survey to understand the impact that their job has on their well-being. 276 people responded to the survey. Whilst around half of the respondents expressed pleasure derived from their career, it is clear that many (early career) researchers are suffering due to overwork, with more than a quarter saying that they work in excess of 50 hours per week and 2\% in excess of 90 h per week. Almost 30\% professed to having suffered harrassment or discrimination in the course of their work. Further, whilst only 20\% had suffered mental health issues before starting their career in astrophysics, $\sim$45\% said that they suffered with mental health problems since starting in astrophysics. Abstract

Context and background The mastery and control of rural areas remain a challenge for both landowners and the Burkinabe State. The major agricultural production basins, particularly areas with high exploitation of lowlands, experience permanent changes in production actors and land management strategies. This leads to the establishment of a multitude of access and exploitation rules aimed at better controlling all production chains. Therefore, what are the set of rules and principles that govern the exploitation of lowland in the study area? What are the changes in the management principles that govern the exploitation of lowland in the study area? What are the explanatory factors for this observed dynamic? Goal and Objectives: The main objective of this study is to analyze the different modes of social and land management of wetland landscapes in Kyon municipality (Burkina Faso). Methodology: The study is based on both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. A total of 378 producers were surveyed using individual questionnaires. In addition, individual interviews were conducted with landowners and resource persons, as well as group interviews with some solidarity groups of producers Results: The results show an overall diversity and dynamics of management modes of lowland areas in the commune of Kyon. These exploitation sites are now the framework for a proliferation between management rules inspired by social values, and land and environmental management principles. This management mutation is mainly explained by the diversity of production actors in these submerged areas.

Abstract

Within the framework of the national educational center “Innovative solutions in the agro-industrial complex”, created by the order of the Governor of the Belgorod region in July 2019, scientists of the ALL-Russian research Institute of breeding (Vniiplem), the Belgorod state agrarian University named after V.Y. Gorin (Belgorod state agrarian University) and specialists of the APC “Gorin collective Farm” (Belgorod region, Bessonovka village) developed an innovative project to create in the Belgorod region intra-breed type of pigs of a large white Breed. This project is planned to be implemented within the framework of the scientific and production platform “Selection and genetic research, cell technologies and genetic engineering: animal husbandry” using modern genetic methods and approaches. Due to the introduction, development and practical use of high-tech methods of breeding work, it is planned to create a type of large white breed pigs that can compete with the best foreign breeding achievements by 2025, not only in terms of productivity, in particular, obtaining from one sow per year up to four tons of pork in live weight, but also, most importantly, to consistently show the effect of heterosis when used in hybridization programs.

Abstract

With the development of megalopolises, constant expansion of their borders and chaotic and – to a greater extent – unreasonable territorial division of lands, potential recreational areas are experiencing colossal anthropogenic load and can be found in the state of oppression, gradually moving into an industrial functional zone, from the environmental point of view. For the preservation of ecosystems and rational planning of urban development, it is necessary to pay special attention to the functional purpose and mode of use of the sites, which are the essence of zoning and governance in the field of urban development of land. This paper presents a geoecological assessment of the dynamics of changes in pollution halos among the functional areas of the Eastern Administrative Okrug of Moscow over the past 30 years. Geochemical series of pollutants were compiled with the help of methods of preliminary preparation and statistical data processing. A forecast of the spread of pollution in the surface horizon for the next 100 years is presented, taking into account the hydrogeological features of the territory of the Eastern Administrative Okrug of Moscow.
