Der damit verbundene Ausschluss von Psycholog:innen ist angesichts der Entwicklungen in den letzten zehn Jahren nicht gerechtfertigt. L'exclusion des psychologues, qui en découle, ne se justifie pas au vu des évolutions de ces dix dernières années. Les auteur·e·s démontrent les formations continues nécessaires pour que des psychologues soient apte à effectuer de telles expertises.

This research examines visitor engagement with genocidal memorial museums expressed in visitor comments at the conclusion of the museum visit. We analyze the educative function of memorial museums in genocide prevention. Museums that advance a preventative function are gaining traction in the literature on transitional justice, especially that on non-punitive, restorative justice mechanisms. In this sense, we examine two museums in Guatemala and measure visitor engagement and the efficacy of never again. In Guatemala City, we examine the Casa de la Memoria, which presents the complete historical narrative of the Maya. In Baja Verapaz, we study the Rabinal Museo Comunitario de la Memoria Historica, exclusive to the historical memory of the Maya Achí and which seeks to educate about the genocide committed against them by the government between 1980 and 1984. We develop a typology of the comments we call memory-words left by visitors to each museum as recorded in their guest logs/visitor books and in other memorial spaces within each museum that allows for individual expression of the museum experience. Finally, we try to determine whether each museums’ typology of memory-words resulted in a particular message (specific to Guatemala) or a more universal message of never again that mirrors current mass atrocities world-wide, and if so, in what context.

An attempt to improve the accuracy of resolvent-based predictions by including velocity correlations in the linear model is developed here. Closure assumptions for unresolved nonlinearities are thus pushed back to a higher order. Turbulent channel flow is considered as a test case: response and forcing modes obtained from singular value decomposition of the new resolvent model are compared to Spectral Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (SPOD) modes extracted from a Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) database. The performance of the approach is also measured against previous resolvent-based models. The new model does not yield significant global improvement, but does improve predictions in some regions. Further work on the method should target the linear modeling of the velocity-pressure gradient correlation tensor.

Within the context of microvariation in Bantu, three processes are examined in Setswana – object marking, inversion constructions and diminutive marking. Setswana morpho-syntactic structures for these constructions present instances that distinguish Setswana from Eastern Bantu languages and yet also cases of similarity with patterns more commonly attested in Eastern rather than Southern Bantu languages. Using a comparative-parametric approach Setswana is shown to pattern with Southern Bantu in its default agreement and diminutive marking patterns while its flexibility in allowing multiple object markers with free ordering is more closely related to Eastern Bantu, suggesting complex historical patterns of contact.

Day, Night, Twilight. An Approach to Fink and Levinas This contribution presents Eugen Fink’s and Emmanuel Levinas’s thought along the metaphors of day and night. Both Fink’s cosmology and the philosophy Levinas developed in Totality and Infinity are read as locating the human being between day (light) and night. The present discussion of their philosophies is guided by the question of how Fink and Levinas, who share the criticism of the metaphysics of light, try to overcome it. Special emphasis is put on the notions of unity and difference as well as the notion of totality. Further, both try to break the totalizing tendency of light by radically thinking the infinite. First, Fink’s cosmology is presented. In a second step, Levinas’s thinking from Totality and Infinity is discussed. A juxtaposition of both attempts marks the conclusion of the paper.

Ce n’est que depuis quelques années que l’histoire de l’art porte un intérêt accru aux questions de topologie et à l’application du savoir topologique dans les œuvres d’art.Dès lors, ont été étudiées les manières dont les relations spatiales se produisent au moyen d’assemblages interrelationnels de continuité et de discontinuité, d’intérieur et d’extérieur, de jonction et de séparation, de pliage et de dépliage, etc. C’est dans ce contexte que le texte « La peinture est un vrai trois », publié par Hubert Damisch en 1983, a été réexaminé et compris comme une contribution radicale et prospective au débat sur une histoire de l’art topologique. S’appuyant sur la juxtaposition de l’espace euclidien et de l’espace topologique, telle que décrite par Merleau-Ponty dans Le visible et l’invisible, suivi de Note de travail, le texte de Damisch non seulement transfère ce débat au domaine de l’art, mais érige l’image tissée en un modèle théorique qui peut être considéré comme une alternative refoulée face au paradigme encore dominant de la perspective.

A pixelated portrait of Antoine de Lavoisier was stored in a digitally-encoded poly(phosphodiester). The storage capacity attained in this work (440 bits/chain) is the highest ever reported for a synthetic informational polymer. To reach this very high capacity, a combination of data compression and polymer design was used. For instance, the digital polymer was synthesized by automated phosphoramidite chemistry using an optimized set of nineteen building blocks (8 coded monomers, 10 mass tags and one alkoxyamine linker enabling decryption by tandem mass spectrometry). Consequently, the polymer could be comprehensively decoded by electrospray mass spectrometry and the portrait of the French chemist was recovered.

This paper presents the development of the methodology used to create an Urban Climatic Analytical Map (UC-AnMap) of Salvador, Brazil, based on its Land Use Patterns Map (MPO). Located in the Northeast Region of Brazil, Salvador is currently the fourth most populous city in the country, with nearly three million people. First, the MPO was used as a layer; then, an updated version of the MPO was used as a fundamental layer to derive thematic maps based on the distinct urban morphologies found in the city. MPOs are suggested here as a starting methodological procedure, a facilitative tool for the construction of an Urban Climatic Map. MPOs allow the variety of urban land use patterns to be captured and are based on universally available information, such as Google Earth images and tools, regardless of the existence of sophisticated and costly databases, which are not usually accessible in cities in developing countries. MPOs involve identifying and delimiting visually homogeneous land use areas in polygons at an adequate scale of 1:10,000. Similar areas are grouped under the same patterns, regardless of their urban functions, creating a classification system that characterizes different existing patterns by their distinct urban attributes. Salvador’s social and economic inequalities have produced ongoing unequal urban patterns, and institutional and structural factors have contributed to the absence of up-to-date digital urban databases. Given the local context, the Salvador UC-AnMap could not have been made without developing an MPO.

Iron-containing metalloenzymes that contain the 2-His-1-Carboxylate facial triad at their active site are well known for their ability to activate molecular oxygen and catalyse a broad range of oxidative transformations. Many of these reactions are synthetically challenging, and developing small molecular iron-based catalysts that can achieve similar reactivity and selectivity remains a long-standing goal in homogeneous catalysis. This review focuses on the development of bioinspired facial N,N,O ligands that model the 2-His-1-Carboxylate facial triad to a greater degree of structural accuracy than many of the polydentate N-donor ligands commonly used in this field. By developing robust, well-defined N,N,O facial ligands, an increased understanding could be gained of the factors governing enzymatic reactivity and selectivity.

The development of catalysts for the selective hydroxylation of aromatic C–H bonds is an essential challenge in current chemical research. The accomplishment of this goal requires the discovery of powerful metal-based oxidizing species capable of hydroxylating inert aromatic bonds in a selective manner, avoiding the generation of non-selective oxygen-centered radicals. Herein we show an investigation on the ability of nickel(ii) complexes supported by tripodal tetradentate aminopyridine ligands to catalyze the direct hydroxylation of benzene to phenol with H2O2 as oxidant. We have found that modifications on the ligand structure of the nickel complex do not translate into different reactivity, which differs from previous findings for nickel-based arene hydroxylations. Besides, several nickel(ii) salts have been found to be effective in the oxidation of aromatic C–H bonds. The use of fluorinated alcohols as solvent has been found to result in an increase in phenol yield; however, showing no more than two turn-overs per nickel. These findings raise questions on the nature of the oxidizing species responsible for the arene hydroxylation reaction.

The Alpi Apuane (Italy) are located a few kilometres from the coast of the Ligurian Sea, and they are characterized by peak elevations up to two thousand meters above sea level, as well as narrow, deeply incised valleys and steep slopes. Due to these morphoclimatic conditions, heavy rains are frequent, causing floods, landslides, and debris flows, particularly within the Vezza catchment. In this work we applied two different hydrological-hydraulic models to this catchment, focusing on the catastrophic debris flow event of June 19, 1996. Firstly, recent, well-documented rainfall events were used to validate the engineering geological model of the study area, then we began to analyse the rainfall-runoff and debris flow event of 1996 in the Cardoso sub-catchment. As models, we used the FLO-2D and a novel experimental model, developed by some of the authors and based on TRENT2D, in which the dynamic of a debris flow is fully coupled with the rainfall-runoff response of a basin. Preliminary results show how the used approach allowed us to gain some insight into the hydrological behaviour and debris flows formation, erosion, transport, and deposition in the Cardoso sub-catchment.

This article analyzes the different interpretations of inclusion in German music pedagogy, and goes on to consider two different perspectives (“teaching music in an inclusive way” and “teaching inclusively with music”) in discussing the possible relationships between music and inclusion. The example of a teacher training project shows how the two approaches mentioned above can be mutually linked, in view of the development of both didactic practices and theoretical reflection. In conclusion, in considering possibilities for a collaboration between institutions, and paying special attention to teacher training in the German area, a series of hypotheses are made, aiming at a further development of inclusive approaches in the domains of music and music education.

Contemporary Swahili novels transgress the boundaries of the novel text itself. They employ metatextualities of different categories in order to fulfil a variety of functions. In this article, I explore metatextualities in the Kenyan Swahili novel, and provide a case study reading of one of the novels by the prolific and award-winning writer Kyallo Wadi Wamitila. My reading of Wamitila’s novel Dharau ya Ini (2007) concentrates on metanarration and metareference. I analyse how narration, especially point of view, is used and how it is discussed and reflected upon by the text and in the text itself (metanarration). I also focus on instances of metareference, especially on references to oral literature and to the literary genres of drama and poetry, as part of a work of prose. These analyses are done through a close reading informed by current research on metatextualities, and, in one of the examples, by phonostylistics. This study is led by the following overall objectives: first, it aims to show how Swahili novel writing as an instance of literature in African languages participates in global discourses on, and practices in, literature and the arts. Secondly, in a perspective of East(ern) African literature, it argues that Swahili literature and literary studies provide stimuli to literary theory and practice otherwise still dominated by its Anglophone counterpart in the region (and, of course, beyond). Thirdly, as regards the domain of Swahili literature, it reflects the crucial impact of Kenyan writing since about the turn of the millennium, in a sphere hitherto dominated by writers from Tanzania.

Book Review

Several Semitic and Germanic languages, just as languages belonging to other language families (Slovenian, Korean), embed imperatives and thus use direct speech in syntactical context, where most other languages would use subordinate clauses. This kind of embedding can entail “shifting indexicals” and “imposters”, i.e. the reference to one and the same person with different persons in the verbal and pronominal system, even within one and the same phrase. In this paper, departing from the Germanic and other data presented so far in this context, I attempt a descriptive analysis of this phenomenon focusing on Semitic, with only hints to elements of a formal analysis.

This article studies the impact of the social position on the health trajectories of children who follow a therapy for overweight or obesity management. Based on a qualitative study conducted within a Swiss hospital with 29 families, the author explains how the social position influences children’s relationship to health norms. The study results show that children belonging to wealthy families internalize more easily the therapeutic prescriptions in their everyday lives than the children from underprivileged families.

The Bantu language Rangi is spoken at the northern borderlands of Tanzania, where Bantu, Cushitic and Nilotic languages meet. In many regards, Rangi exhibits the morphosyntax typically associated with East African Bantu: SVO word order, an extensive system of agreement and predominantly head-marking morphology. However, the language also exhibits a number of features which are unusual from a comparative and typological perspective, and which may have resulted from language contact. Four of these features are examined in detail in this paper: 1) Verb-auxiliary order found in the future tense, 2) clause-final negation, 3) a three-way distinction in verbal deictic markers, and 4) an inclusive/exclusive distinction in personal possessive pronouns. These features are assessed with reference to three criteria: syntactic structure, lexical/morphological form and geographic distribution. The examination shows that two of the unusual features result from a combination of internal and external factors, while the other two appear not to be related to external influence through contact. The results of the study show the complex interaction between internal and external factors in language change, and the importance of investigating potentially contact-induced change in detail to develop a more complex and fine-grained understanding of the morphosyntactic process of innovation involved.

Today transformation of the ways of regulating universities is taking place in a multitude of different manners on the European academic landscape. In the context of this article, we propose analysis of their governance from the angle of the university admi­nistrators’ formulations of priority in research domains. If the strategic value they are supposed to express towards the exterior seems to be relatively clear, in being explicitly revindicated in the universities’ discourses, the function they fill with respect to the interior nonetheless remains more ambiguous and deserves to be studied more in-depth. That notably involves understanding both the sense of these categories for the actors in the universities and analysing the use they make of them. To do so, we propose an empirical analysis of the structuring processes at work in a research domain with an interdisciplinary nature, namely biomedical research, which, in the last fifteen years, has taken on a preponderant role in the agenda of several Swiss academic institutions. This new institutional logic is the end result of a process of co-construction of the scientific agenda of the universities led as much by the researchers themselves as by the universities’ administrators.

Despite contributing only 1% to global emissions each, two of the largest economies in Latin America, Brazil and Mexico, are strongly committed to reducing their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 43% and 40% respectively by the year 2030. Achieving these goals, however, will not only necessitate the implementation of technical innovations, cleaner energy sources and active participation of all sectors, but will also require significant changes in the energy policies of both countries. This article will identify the goals stated by Brazil and Mexico in their Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs), and examine the actual and prospective primary energy mixes and consequent CO2 emissions. In addition, strategies related to technical, economic and social efforts needed to achieve these purposes are explored. Finally, the opportunities for achieving COP21-CMP11 commitments through the implementation of renewable energy in different sectors will be discussed; while showing their potential for also providing energy sovereignty and potential economic benefits for both nations.

With ever-increasing pressure to optimize product quality, to reduce cost and to safely increase production output from existing assets, all combined with regular changes in terms of feedstock and operational targets, process monitoring with traditional instruments reaches its limits. One promising answer to these challenges is in-line, real time process analysis with spectroscopic instruments, and above all Fourier-Transform Near Infrared spectroscopy (FT-NIR). Its potential to afford decreased batch cycle times, higher yields, reduced rework and minimized batch variance is presented and application examples in the field of fine chemicals are given. We demonstrate that FT-NIR can be an efficient tool for improved process monitoring and optimization, effective process design and advanced process control.

This paper presents an overview of diminutives in the Bantu language family, with an emphasis on the role of the noun class system in diminutive formation. It charts different processes of language change which have shaped the present-day situation, as well as highlighting instances in which language contact has played a role in the development of diminutive systems. It also addresses semantic and pragmatic processes underlying the change and variation in Bantu diminutives. The comparison is based on a cross-Bantu typology, examining a sample of 48 languages distributed across the linguistic region.
