STYLIZATION FOR THE LANGUAGE OF WARSAW CHAVS IN THE CARTOON BLOK EKIPA The article presents the linguistic stylization for the sociolect of young people living in blocks of flats (chavs) in the adult cartoon entitled Blok ekipa [“Blok of flats – crew”]. The language of the protagonists imitates both elements typical of subcultures and colloquial Polish language: expression, vulgarization, slang and prison vocabulary, as well as language of domination and aggression. In addition, the language of the cartoon characters reflects negligent pronunciation (phonetic, inflectional, dialectisms). Furthermore, the elements that make the series attractive are original comparative structures. The stylization covers almost all levels of the language system (phonetics, inflection, word formation, lexis) and stylistics. Moreover, all the above-mentioned exponents are deliberately cumulated, so the type of stylization in the cartoon might be perceived as reconstructive-manneristic.

Suicide is the leading cause of death among Swiss adolescents. Often, a suicide attempt is the outcome of a "suicidal process" at the end of which death is perceived as the only means of escaping from intolerable psychic pain. A suicide attempt entails a high risk of repetition. AdoASSIP, a brief adjunctive therapy adapted for adolescents, which is being implemented in Switzerland, specifically aims at reducing that risk. Starting from the story of the suicide attempt told by the adolescent, patient and therapist jointly try to better understand the "logic" of the suicidal process. Short-term and long-term needs, as well as warning-signs of a crisis are identified, and a safety plan is developed. Controlled orthodontic extrusion constitutes a non-surgical technique to increase alveolar bone material. Prosthetic reconstruction alone frequently does not achieve sufficient long-term aesthetics. An adequate implantation bed is indispensable to meet aesthetic demands. Controlled orthodontic extrusion represents an alternative to pre-implantological augmentation of the vertically reduced alveolar process and its soft tissue.

The authors have measured the effects of methoxy-2 ethanol and derivatives or analogs on adjuvant arthritis in Rat, and the activity of methoxy-2 ethanol on humoral responsiveness to antigenic stimuli in Rat. Only methoxy-2 ethanol,1,2-dimethoxyethane and 1-methoxy 2 ethoxy ethane out of 13 tested derivatives, have an inhibitory activity on adjuvant arthritis. Methoxy-2 ethanol induces a significant depression of antibody production after immune stimuli and a significant effect on rejection of the skin graft. Although these results are of interest, toxicity of methoxy-2 ethanol will be a limiting factor for therapeutic use.
