In the case study we aim to analyse the long-term distribution of vacancies on the Romanian labour market. This approach allows us to identify one of the long-term consequences of the digitalization of the economy, namely polarization. Polarization can be viewed from several perspectives, but here we are only referring to the polarization of the job supply. The phenomenon implies a significant reduction in interest in mid-level jobs. Thus, to identify the probability that this phenomenon will already manifest itself in Romania, we carried out an analysis with the help of Markov chains. In this way we will identify the occupations that could be the most numerous in the long run in Romania. Even if Romania does not indicate an obvious polarization of the labour market, in the long run, clues in this regard can be identified. There is a system of vocational training at national level, but it does not cover the prospects of the labour market.

This contribution aims to understand how socio-environmental justice can be pursued in the development of rural areas. These territories are often characterized by various challenges, such as depopulation, lack of employment opportunities, infrastructures and services. However, these areas also characterized by the emergence of social innovations aimed at promoting a more just, equitable development. This development is based on local collaborations and the potential transformations linked to community dynamism. In order to offer a theoretical reflection on the intersections between socio-environmental justice and social innovations developed in rural areas, the first part of this contribution focuses on the concept of social and environmental justice and on the common conceptual paths between social innovation and sustainable development. The second part of the essay places this reflection in the context of rural areas, and in particular Italian rural areas, and their potential as privileged contexts for the creation of social innovations capable of responding in an innovative way to the principle of social and environmental justice by supporting sustainable local development processes. The article focuses on the problem of unemployment in France. In a report released in June 2006, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris calculated the ratio between the number of applications for job and the number of job offers. The report showed that there are 473,600 applicants for 105,600 job vacancies in France. That means 22% of applicants remain unemployed.

The article focuses on unemployment and unfilled vacancies in the U.S. manufacturing industries. The author argues on the point that previous evidence concerning the stability of the relationship between unemployment and unfilled vacancies has been obtained from mis-specified models. In particular, the above mentioned empirical analyses have mainly consisted of regressions of the help-wanted index on the unemployment rate and rather ad hoc, additional explanatory variables such as the new hire rate in the manufacturing sector. The article also presents the search-turnover model of the labor market from which the steady-state unemployment-vacancy relationship can be derived. The article also describes the data base and estimation technique used and presents the empirical results. It also provides some concluding remarks. The article presented estimates of a model of employment dynamics from which a steady-state relationship between unemployment and unfilled job vacancies was derived. These estimates conformed to a priori expectations, thus, providing some empirical support for the theoretical model discussed by Edmund S. Phelps.

The article discusses issues related to demographic aging in France. Impact of demographic aging on the employment condition of France is discussed. The author expects that demographic ageing will vacant numerous jobs for new generations in the year 2006. Need for fiscal reform in France is also considered.

The article examines the state of employment in France. Economists have observed that the rate of unemployment has been reduced to 10% from July 2005-July 2006. This may be due to increase in the number of job offers and employment opportunities for the younger generation. The employment rate has been slightly affected by the increase in population.

The article presents a study conducted by the organizations, Development Economics and Public Policy Cluster and Bureau d'Information Petite Enfance on the impact of population on the employment sector in France. The study suggests that the new generation will not get enough job offers owing to the rise in population. The employment plans will encourage early retirements in the organizations in the coming years.
