The utilization of non-renewable energy resources necessitates the power sector's adoption of alternative energy sources, including photovoltaic and wind power generation systems. This academic investigation utilizes two machine learning methodologies, in particular, the study utilizes the random forest and support vector machine algorithms. to conduct its analyses. predict the velocity of the wind in the Diyala governorate of Iraq for the subsequent time interval. This is achieved solely by utilizing historical monthly time series data as input predictors. The three performance metrics employed encompass the coefficient of assurance (R2), root cruel square mistake (RMSE), and cruel outright blunder (MAE). The findings demonstrate that utilizing a lag of 12 months in the time series data (the maximum lag duration tested) as input predictors leads to the most accurate predictions in terms of performance. However, the prediction performance of the two algorithms used was almost similar (RF's RMSE, MAE, and R2 were 0.237, 0.180, and 0.836, while for SVM were 0.223, 0.171, and 0.856). The capacity to anticipate wind speed constitutes a paramount advantage to Iraq, given its current predicament in the electric power industry, and this has the potential to enable stakeholders to forecast oversupply or undersupply and implement pre-emptive measures.

Hollow concrete columns are often employed in bridge constructions because of their lighter weight and effective section characteristics. In addition, to reduce the issue of steel reinforcement corrosion and create a strong and light construction, hollow section columns are also reinforced with bars made of fiber-reinforced polymer. This research aimed to analyze the effect of GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) on the compression strength of hollow square concrete columns under an axial concentric load. The finite element application ABAQUS 2019 version was used to simulate a finite element model, calibrated utilizing experimental data from previous studies for various geometric models of concrete and material specifications of the reinforcement. The findings of the experimental studies and the finite element model exhibit excellent agreement. Finally, according to the parametric study's results, A parametric analysis is done to assess the impact of changing reinforcement ratio, spacing between the ties, inner-to-outer section width ratio, and a comparison with steel reinforcement. The computational results clearly show how an Increased longitudinal GFRP reinforcement ratio improves the columns' bearing capability, but when compared to steel reinforcement, it provides less bearing capability. For the optimum outcome with hollow square concrete columns, it is advised to adopt the limit of the i/o between 0.27 and 0.38. In addition, changing the spacing between stirrups was shown not to significantly impact the capacity for axial load in hollow square concrete columns.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
The internal courtyard of the residential building creates a micro-environment that provides a comfortable indoor environment. The acceptance of the courtyard by residents is disreputable even though its benefits have been scientifically proven. A survey using a set of questionnaire was carried out at two residential colleges to gauge the acceptance level of residents towards an existing internal courtyard. Results show that the majority of respondents of both residential colleges have given positive feedbacks, which include the perception on building and landscape designs in general, the quality of the landscape setting at the internal courtyard, the frequency of the time spent at the internal courtyard in a day, and the influence of the landscape setting at the internal courtyard on the quality of life. These feedbacks are not influenced by the gender aspect holistically. Indirectly, it indicates that the internal courtyard is positively relevant to be applied to the building design, particularly low-rise residential buildings.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
Gravity separator tanks are used to separate oil from water in treatment units. Achieving the best flow uniformity in a separator tank will improve the maximum removal efficiency of oil globules from water. In this study, the effect on hydraulic performance of different baffle structure positions inside a tank was investigated. Experimental data and 2D computation fluid dynamics were used for analysis. In the numerical model, two-phase flow (drift flux model) was used to validate one-phase flow. For laboratory measurements, the velocity fields were measured using an acoustic Doppler velocimeter. The measurements were compared with the result of the computational model. The results of the experimental and computational simulations indicate that the best location of a baffle structure is achieved when the standard deviation of the velocity profile and the volume of the circulation zone inside the tank are minimized.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
In Iraq, especially in the last three decades, extensive developments have been evidenced in the regions of gypseous soils due to the need of construction of many numbers of strategic projects. Failure of different structures constructed on gypseous soil in various regions in Iraq have been noticed. For this purpose, three areas in northern Iraq were selected (Samarra, Tikrit and Baiji) to study their geotechnical characteristics due to their high gypsum contents as well as many engineering problems are faced due to dissolution of gypsum. The experimental work involves testing of many properties such as: scanning electron microscopy (SEM), XRD, chemical, physical, compressibility, collapsibility, shear strength and suction. At low stress level, the test results revealed that, higher collapse potential (CP) is recorded for Tikrit soil. While at low stress level, higher CP is obtained for Baiji soil indicating the increase in CP with decreasing gypsum content. Furthermore, the CP significantly increases with increasing stress level and soaking period at a particular stress level. According to severity classification of the collapse potential, Baiji soil is considered as moderate trouble to slight, while Tikrit soil is considered as trouble to moderate. After soaking, both soils become trouble. As well as, the results showed a reduction in Tikrit soil shear parameters ( φ and c ) after soaking period of 6 and 24 hrs as 12.2 to 9.2% in the internal friction angle and 91.5 to 94.2% in cohesion, respectively with respect to dry condition. Maximum total suction is measured for low consistency soils (liquid limit < 30%) represented by Tikrit soil.

Engineering (General). Civil engineering (General) ,TA1-2040 - Abstract
Dynamic response of existing railway bridges is influenced by many factors including structural properties, railway traffic speed, and train-to-bridge frequency. Excessive vibrations cause passengers’ discomfort, rail elements deterioration, higher derailment risks, fatigue deformation problems, stress amplification, and eventually high maintenance costs. In such cases, applied remedies include limiting traffic speed or changing bridge mass or stiffness. Traffic induced vibrations can also be mitigated by enhancing structural damping through application of Tuned Mass Dampers. Egypt has one of the oldest railway transportation network with several steel bridges crossing the Nile River, in addition to several canals. In a running project, dynamic properties of selective bridges on the Egyptian railway networks infrastructures are investigated through extensive field testing. The considered bridges cover a wide range of structural properties including simply-supported and continuous bridges, spans ranging between 40 to 90 m, single and double track lines, and open timber bridges. Field tests results are studied; hence, key factors affecting bridge dynamic characteristics are discussed and highlighted. Moreover, results are compared with those extracted from finite element analyses. The project aims at evaluating the possibility of excessive vibration problems while considering different values of train velocities. In the current study, focus is given to two example bridges. Field and numerical results are exhibited and discussed. Eventually, possibility of excessive vibration problems are determined considering different values of train velocities. It was observed that available formulas in current design codes do not capture warping and torsional modes that present fundamental modes for truss bridges. In addition, existing railway bridges do not satisfy serviceability limit states when considering high speed trains.

- Abstract
Introduction: With the rapid spread of online coronavirus-related health information, it is important to ensure that this information is reliable and effectively communicated. This study observes the dissemination of COVID-19 health literacy information by Canadian postsecondary institutions aimed at university students as compared to provincial and federal government COVID-19 guidelines., Methods: We conducted a systematic scan of web pages from Canadian provincial and federal governments and from selected Canadian universities to identify how health information is presented to university students. We used our previously implemented health literacy survey with Canadian postsecondary students as a sampling frame to determine which academic institutions to include. We then used specific search terms to identify relevant web pages using Google and integrated search functions on government websites, and compared the information available on pandemic measures categorized by university response strategies, sources of expertise and branding approaches., Results: Our scan of Canadian government and university web pages found that universities similarly created one main page for COVID-19 updates and information and linked to public sector agencies as a main resource, and mainly differed in their provincial and local sources for obtaining information. They also differed in their strategies for communicating and displaying this information to their respective students., Conclusion: The universities in our sample outlined similar policies for their students, aligning with Canadian government public health recommendations and their respective provincial or regional health authorities. Maintaining the accuracy of these information sources is important to ensure student health literacy and counter misinformation about COVID-19., Competing Interests: The authors declare that they have no conflicts of interest.

- Abstract
Objective: Produce a French-Canadian translation of AMSTAR 2, affirm its content validity, and examine interrater reliability. Methods: Based on Vallerand's methodological approach, we conducted forward and parallel inverse-translations. Subsequently, an expert panel evaluated the translations to create a preliminary experimental French-Canadian version. A second expert panel examined this version and proposed additional modifications. Twenty future health professionals then rated the second experimental version for ambiguity on a scale (from 1 to 7). The principal co-investigators then reviewed the problematic elements and proposed a pre-official version. To ascertain content validity, a final back-translation was conducted resulting in the official version. Four judges evaluated 13 systematic reviews using the official French-Canadian version of AMSTAR 2. The Kappa coefficient was used to evaluate interrater reliability. Results: This rigorous adaptation enabled the development of a Franco-Canadian version of AMSTAR 2. Its application demonstrated low ambiguity (mean 1.15; SD 0.26) as well as good overall interrater reliability (total κ > 0.64) across all items. Conclusion: The French-Canadian version of AMSTAR 2 can now support francophone clinicians, educators, and managers in Canada as they undertake evidence-based practice., (© Canadian Physiotherapy Association.)

- Abstract
Acrometastasis are rare and can be exceptionally indicative of an occult carcinoma. The prognosis is generally poor. The radiological and immunohistochemical findings can be of great value to determine the primary and to guide treatment. We report a case of a 56-years-old man with acrometastasis at the fourth finger of the left hand revealing a pulmonary adenocarcinoma. Histopathological analysis showed a cribriform adenocarcinoma with an unusual cytoplasmic co-expression of TTF1 and Hepar-1 upon immunohistochemical analysis. There was no nuclear TTF1 immunostaining. Imaging explorations showed a 6-cm mass of the left superior pulmonary lobe. The patient received immunochemotherapy. Upon follow-up, there was evidence of disease progression on chest computed tomography scan., (Copyright © 2021 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.)

The four transcriptional enhancers located in the 3' regulatory region (3'RR) of the IgH locus control the late phases of B-cell maturation, namely IgH locus transcription, somatic hypermutation and class switch recombination. Doctor Jekyll by nature, the 3'RR acts as Mister Hyde in case of oncogenic translocation at the IgH locus taking under its transcriptional control the translocated oncogene. The aim of this review is to show this duality on the basis of the latest scientific advances in the structure and function of the 3'RR and to hIghlight the targeting of the 3'RR as a potential therapeutic approach in mature B-cell lymphomas., (© 2017 médecine/sciences – Inserm.)

- Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the relationship between facial growth pattern and electromyography (EMG) of facial muscles: anterior temporalis, masseter, buccinators, orbicularis oris, mentalis and anterior digastric., Patients and Methods: The sample consisted of 77 subjects aged between 18-28 years (mean age 21.10±2.03), with dental Class I relationship, normal overjet and overbite, balanced facial profile, no signs of temporomandibular disorders, and no previous orthodontic treatment. Facial growth pattern was determined on the lateral cephalograms according to the Björk sum (sum of the N-S-Ar, S-Ar-Go, and Ar-Go-Me angles) dividing the sample into three groups: horizontal facial pattern group (24 subjects), normal facial pattern group (41 subjects), and vertical facial pattern group (12 subjects). The EMG of anterior temporalis, masseter, buccinator, orbicularis oris, mentalis and anterior digastric muscles were examined for each patient in the rest position and in functional positions (central maximum intercuspation, chewing on right side, chewing on left side and swallowing). Mean values and standard deviation of EMG were obtained and compared between the three groups., Results: At rest, the EMG of the masseter, orbicularis oris and anterior digastric were higher in the vertical facial pattern group compared with the other two groups, with a moderate positive correlation between the EMG of these muscles and the Björk sum (P<.01). In contrast, during central maximum intercuspation, the activity of the anterior temporalis, masseter and buccinator was significantly lower in the vertical facial pattern group compared with the two other groups, with a moderate negative correlation between the Björk sum and EMG in the maximum central intercuspation position of these muscles (P<.01)., Conclusions: A significant relationship was found between facial muscle activity and facial growth pattern. The findings suggest that the activity of masticatory and perioral muscles could play a role in the direction of the facial growth., (Copyright © 2015 CEO. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS. - Abstract
Objective: The pharmacological action of 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (5-ARI) would reduce angiogenesis associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), thereby decreasing peroperative bleeding during transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Dutasteride, a double inhibitor of 5-alpha-reductase iso-enzymes types 1 and 2, was not been previously studied in the context of reduction of peroperative bleeding related to TURP., Material and Methods: We conducted a multicentre, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study to evaluate the efficacy of dutasteride 0.5 mg per day, in peroperative bleeding related to TURP for BPH in patients over the age of 50 years with a prostatic volume greater than 30 cm3. Treatment was administered for 4 weeks before the operation. The primary endpoint was haemoglobin, expressed in grams, and expressed in relation to the weight of prostate resected, also expressed in grams., Results: 59 patients were evaluated (32 treated with dutasteride and 27 treated with placebo). A significant difference in peroperative bleeding was observed between the dutasteride group (1.944 +/- 1.816 g of Hb/g of prostate resected) and the placebo group (1.401 +/- 1.021 g of Hb/g of prostate resected). Preoperative treatment was well tolerated., Conclusion: The working hypothesis of the study was not confirmed due to the low bleeding rate in the placebo group and the results suggest that a longer duration of treatment with dutasteride would reduce intraoperative and postoperative bleeding in TURP.
