The present work seeks to reconstruct the course of a group within the army known as "the Peronist lieutenants" during the period of the "Argentine Revolution" (1966-1973). Through the analysis of unpublished sources and interviews with its protagonists, I propose to describe this episode, its scope and how the intervention of the military justice had an impact on its incorporation into the Peronist movement. My hypothesis is that this episode constitutes a genuine expression of subordinate officers in the context of political-social conflict in the sixties and seventies and goes beyond the characterizations of the time about the internal currents of the army.

Since the adoption of multiculturalism in the 1990s in Latin America, new intercultural policies and institutions for people considered as indigenous have been implemented. However, this phenomenon was possible through reconfigurations of political meanings of the past, in the field of contemporary issues of indigeneity, that now justify forms of governance of cultural diversity. Returning to the Mexican context and its frame in continental history, we will examine historiographical and political implications of these recent re-readings of the past. We will approach this issue by analyzing the tensions between historical revisionism of the indigenous movements of the 1990s and the formation of new modalities of official history favored by the emergence of an intercultural State policy which now operates in several levels. We will see the conflicting relations between the reappropriation of the past as a strategy of ethnic claims against its recovery as national heritage and ground of public policy and depoliticization mechanism of indigenous identities.

“Historical revisionism” is currently seen, in the River Plate region, as an intellectual movement which emerged in the thirties to suggest an alternative interpretation of what is called the “academic” or “official” version of the past. This movement establishes strong connections between historical narratives and political positions, and an intense contestation to the political order in power, using non-liberal political traditions. However, wider spatial and temporal perspectives enable to shed light on the revisionist experiences prior to the 1930s. In the first decades of 20th century, in Argentina (especially in local realms), Paraguay and Uruguay some historiographical initiatives -connected by transnational and continental networks- developed. These attempts proposed a past interpretation, away from what they considered to be the hegemonic perspective, crafted in –and for- Buenos Aires, old capital of the River Plate Viceroyalty. Among the most characteristics issues of this counter-history, its origin in geographically “peripheral” places could be mentioned ; the marginal attention that academic historiography have paid to Revisionist main topics (Paraguay War, local caudillos) ; its close link with the so called “national question” at a time when identity discourses were strongly demanded ; and the multiple ideological positions of the revisionist authors, although many of them tended to display or assume rightist ideas.

In this paper I analyze the relevance of the term "Peronist right" to refer to organizations that claiming allegiance to Juan Domingo Peron and Maria Estela Martinez de Peron, politically and ideologically confronted the revolutionary tendency of Peronism and the left wing. Those organizations are: the Juventud Peronista de la República Argentina, the Juventud Sindical Peronista, the Comando de Organización, the Alianza Libertadora Nacionalista and the Concentración Nacional Universitaria, among others. To this critically I analyze how the general literature on the period has called to these organizations: in some cases as part of nationalism, in other directly as members of the repressive state and often as Orthodox sectors of Peronism or simply "from right". All these names are considered for propose rescue “Peronist right” as a category of analysis, based on some common denominators such as nationalism, historical revisionism, and anti-Semitism, and in certain shared cultural traits that allow the formation of an orthodox Peronist in the second half of the twentieth century.

In comparison with the recent evolution that the republics of South America know, Paraguay suffered during its democratization process. So, in a context of relative political inertia, it is significant to question the potential adjustments in the relation that society maintains with the past, since the history was one of the central pieces of the system of framing and “enfermement” of the dictatorship. It is thus a question of questioning in what sens a change of political régime induce a change of mode of historicity. We will put the attention first on the tensions between official history and collective memory under the dictatorship in order to define the mode of historicity which was specific to this culture, in order to understand afterwards the current inertia of representation of the past, and to identify what could correspond today to a mode of historicity of transition.
