Introduction: évaluer la faisabilité du traitement médical des fausses couches par misoprostol en ambulatoire et préciser ses avantages en comparaison avec la révision utérine instrumentale classique. Méthodes: étude prospective comparative au service B du centre de maternité de Tunis (CMNT) s´étalant sur une période de 12 mois (Juillet 2015-Juin 2016), colligeant 50 patientes sélectionnées ayant des constantes hémodynamiques stables et ayant consulté pour fausses couches incomplètes et traitées par misoprostol en ambulatoire, à un groupe de 50 patientes qui avaient eu une révision utérine pour le même motif au cours de la même période d´étude. Le misoprostol a été administré à la dose de 400 µg, soit 2 comprimés, par voie sublinguale (25 cas) et par voie vaginale (25 cas). Résultats: chez les 25 patientes qui avaient reçu 400 µg (soit 2 cp) de misoprostol par voie vaginale, le taux d´expulsion complète de la grossesse avait atteint 88% (22 patientes). Chez les 25 femmes ayant reçu le misoprostol par la voie sublinguale, le taux d´expulsion a chuté à 84% (21 patientes), la différence n´est pas statistiquement significative. Six patientes ont eu secondairement une aspiration utérine et une patiente a expulsé suite à une dose supplémentaire de misoprostol 400 µg. Dans le groupe des 50 patientes ayant eu une aspiration chirurgicale pour fausse couche incomplète, nous avons noté des complications hémorragiques chez 5 patientes (10% des cas) et 3 cas de rétention trophoblastique. La durée moyenne d´hospitalisation a varié de 1 à 3 jours; 80% des patientes ont été hospitalisées pendant 48 heures. La révision instrumentale a coûté en moyenne 73 Dinar tunisien (DT) soit environ 3 fois plus cher en comparaison avec le traitement de la fausse couche incomplète par misoprostol. Ainsi, cette approche médicale s´est avérée plus économique en termes de coût de santé publique. Conclusion: le traitement des fausses couches incomplètes par misoprostol est une méthode efficace, sûre, à condition qu´elle soit prescrite chez des femmes sélectionnées au préalable.

The nucleus has been viewed as a passenger during cell migration that functions merely to protect the genome. However, increasing evidence shows that the nucleus is an active organelle, constantly sensing the surrounding environment and translating extracellular mechanical inputs into intracellular signaling. The nuclear envelope has a large membrane reservoir which serves as a buffer for mechanical inputs as it unfolds without increasing its tension. In contrast, when cells cope with mechanical strain, such as migration through solid tumors or dense interstitial spaces, the nuclear envelope folds stretch, increasing nuclear envelope tension and sometimes causing rupture. Different degrees of nuclear envelope tension regulate cellular behaviors and functions, especially in cells that move and grow within dense matrices. The crosstalk between extracellular mechanical inputs and the cell nucleus is a critical component in the modulation of cell function of cells that navigate within packed microenvironments. Moreover, there is a link between regimes of nuclear envelope unfolding and different cellular behaviors, from orchestrated signaling cascades to cellular perturbations and damage.

The coarse-graining of amorphous plasticity from the atomistic to the mesoscopic scale is studied in the framework of a simple scalar elasto-plastic model. Building on recent results obtained on the atomistic scale, we discuss the interest of a disordered landscape-informed threshold disorder to reproduce the physics of amorphous plasticity. We develop a rejuvenation scenario that reproduces quasi-quantitatively the evolution of the mean local yield stress and the localization behavior. We emphasize the crucial role of two dimensionless parameters: the relative strength of the yield stress disorder with respect to the typical stress drops associated with a plastic rearrangement, and the age parameter characterizing the relative stability of the initial glass with respect to the rejuvenated glass that emerges upon shear deformation.

In its archives, the Real Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi (RACBA) preserves the plans for a wooden bridge erected in 1802 for the visit of Carlos IV and Maria Luisa de Parma to Barcelona. It was built for the purpose of bridging the Royal Palace and the Customs Palace, which were the residences that the authorities assigned to the Spanish and the Neapolitan monarchs during their stay in the city, through an elevated structure. In the course of time, it was dismantled and sold piece by piece, but its ephemeral nature did not eliminate its practical utility and its decoration in the neoclassical style, which was a popular style in Catalonia at the time.

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Geomembranes have been used in containment applications for the past 50 years. Over this period, Polyethylene Geomembrane formulations have changed markedly with a design need to contain higher risk contaminants stored in more challenging environments. One of the major product developments has seen the emergence of “White Top Layer” Geomembranes. Atarfil would concur, and our most recent immersion and exposure data is compelling. It is not simply the thermal behavior that is beneficial, the additive types required to meet the challenges of stabilizing white layers, also serve significantly better protection when subjected to UV and Immersion Testing. This is translating to significantly longer predictions of Geomembrane performance life.

Restoration of historical buildings contributes to the preservation of history and identity of the cities, but also, in the current climate crisis, an alternative solution to reduce the environmental impact of the construction sector, which is one of the main global contributors to green-house gas emissions and waste production. It can be also claimed that the most sustainable building is the one that has already been built. An important aspect to consider for the restoration of built heritage is the use of compatible materials, such as lime-based mortars, that should be preferred over cement. However, their slow setting and hardening (via carbonation), and, in some cases, poor durability prevent their full acceptance and widespread use. One course of action is to improve the quality of the binder via an innovative approach: inclusion of natural organic additives during the slaking process of CaO. This is expected to have a higher impact than their inclusion in the mortar’s mix design. In the present work the analysis of the growth of Ca(OH)2 crystals following their crystallization in the presence of micro- and nano-cellulose is studied, together with the morphological changes that these additives induce on portlandite crystals. Moreover, the study of the carbonation kinetics of the modified portlandite crystals gives insights on the effect that these additives have on the quality of the binder. The promising results highlight the potential of micro- and nano-cellulose as sustainable additives for lime-based binders. Furthermore, these additives can be obtained from industrial wastes, promoting a circular economy.

The current study on sediment quality at the shoreline of Limay is very limited. This study examined the levels of manganese (Mn) concentrations on the shoreline of Limay, Bataan, by analyzing of sediment samples. The concentration of the metals was determined by the use of a Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, applying the Standard Addition Method. The tests were conducted at the First Analytical Service and Technical Cooperative Laboratories (F.A.S.T. Laboratories). The findings of the study conducted at two sampling locations indicated that the concentration of the heavy metal manganese was beyond the Maximum Allowable Limit for Sediment set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); however, it did not exceed the World Health Organization (WHO). For barangay Bo. Luz has concentrations as high as 595 ppm, 602 ppm, and 534 ppm. In the case of Barangay Lamao, it is seen that it exhibits the highest concentration levels, detecting 948 ppm, 958 ppm, and 758 ppm. The development of intensive farming techniques that depend on inorganic fertilizers, the lack of household waste management practices, the use of feeds and pesticides in the fishery industry, the discharge of waste from industrial sources, including the production of steel and fabrication, textile production, and mining company waste that flows into the ocean are potential sources that can be attributed to the high concentration of manganese.

Cette contribution analyse les textes rédigés par des étudiants se préparant au métier de professeur des écoles dans le cadre d’un atelier d’écriture créative personnelle leur demandant de se représenter dans une situation professionnelle. La première partie questionne les articulations entre écriture et professionnalisation en rappelant les différentes fonctions de l’écriture, la variété des écrits mobilisés en formation initiale des professeurs des écoles et en présentant le milieu didactique de l’atelier d’écriture créative. Après avoir formulé la problématique et contextualisé la recherche, le genre du selfie professionnel est défini par rapport au selfie photographique. Nous analysons d’un point de vue linguistique quatre selfies professionnels d’étudiants ainsi que les commentaires des étudiants et de leurs formatrices afin d’observer les traces du processus de professionnalisation. Les indicateurs retenus portent sur le lexique professionnel, l’énonciation, les marqueurs de modalité axiologique et le contenu sémantique, notamment la place accordée au langage en tant qu’objet d’enseignement. Notre démarche s’inscrit dans une démarche qualitative au plus près des sujets. Les selfies professionnels rédigés par les étudiants dans le cadre de l’atelier d’écriture créative personnelle que nous avons proposé apparaissent à la fois comme une trace du processus de professionnalisation et un lieu d’élaboration de cette professionnalisation, comme en témoignent les formulations choisies et les échanges oraux autour de ces formulations.

Sustainable approaches, such as nanotechnology-based strategies, are being researched to increase the productivity of crops. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of nanopriming with selenium nanoparticles (Se NPs) for tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and maize (Zea mays). Additionally, the impact of Se NPs delivered through a foliar application during the reproductive stage of both crops was evaluated. The results showed that Se NPs inhibited the germination rate in maize by up to 100 % but increased the germination rate and vigor index in tomato by 50 and 208 %, respectively (at 10 ppm of Se NPs). Chlorophyll and proline contents were significantly affected in both crops (tomato and maize), suggesting that Se NPs activated the stress defense systems. In contrast, the foliar application of Se NPs on tomato in the reproductive stage increased the length and width of the stem by 10.8 and 4.3 %, respectively. The chlorophyll content increased by 30.8 % at 10 ppm of Se NPs. Additionally, the proline content of reproductive maize plants increased by up to 1303.6 %, indicating significant stressful conditions caused by the exogenous delivery of Se NPs. These results suggested that nanopriming seeds and foliar application of Se NPs positively impacted tomato. Conversely, the germination of maize seeds and the development of reproductive plants were severely inhibited by Se NPs.

The European Union is promoting the increased use of thermal insulation to ensure energy conservation in the coming years. This will drive increased demand for materials suitable for such applications. However, the rise in the production of goods combined with the prevalent use of non-renewable resources in thermal insulation pose environmental challenges, leading to increased pollution and solid waste accumulation. In response, this study focuses on developing and characterizing a sustainable, biodegradable mycelium-based composite for thermal insulation. The bio-composite, cultivated from Pleurotus Pulmonarius fungus in agro-industrial and textile waste, offers a promising approach. In this work, two distinct combinations of substrates were utilized: one comprising 70% grass cuttings and dry leaves, along with 30% recycled ground textile, predominantly polyester; the other consisting of 70% sugarcane bagasse and 30% ground textile waste. Additionally, an extra 20% of the substrate weight of Pleurotus Ostreatus grain spawn was added to each combination to facilitate mycelium growth. The mycomaterials were tested for tensile and compression analysis (ASTM D3039 and ASTM D695 standards, respectively) and a thermal conductivity assessment (ISO 8301) was done. The materials showed better performance at compression tests than tensile test. Also, results demonstrate the superior performance of sugarcane bagasse mycelium composites over the dry leaves/grass cutting counterparts in thermal conductivity, tensile and compression tests. The inclusion of synthetic fibres to the mycelium composite may have compromised the mechanical and thermal properties of the samples as polyester fibres have a higher thermal conductivity than the natural components included in the sample. The fibres being synthetic, the mycelium could not feed on it, thus impeding binding and proliferation in some sections of the material.

Global warming and carbon emissions force us to rethink the use of our resources in a circular way. Recycling of materials such as paper and bio-based products offers an economically viable and straightforward way to reuse waste products. In this paper, a lightweight partition based on cellulose and agro-industrial byproducts is evaluated in terms of their sound insulation and thermal performance. Various combinations were assessed using a vibro-acoustic method suited for beam samples, with bending stiffness determined from normal modes and sound transmission loss derived accordingly. Additionally, the acoustic transfer matrix elements were characterised based on the measurements, facilitating the subsequent design of multilayer partitions using inverse procedures. The thermal aspect was studied measuring the thermal conductivity of the samples. Comparative analyses with analytical models and prior literature were conducted to validate the findings. Sandwich partition exhibited the higher sound insulation performance and potentially greater thermal insulation compared to the homogenous material. Applications are oriented to develop sustainable partitions for the retrofitting of buildings.

This research demonstrates how Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) can boost organizational performance and mitigate environmental risks in uncertain environments. The critical role of supplier selection in building resilient supply chains is a central focus. We employ the Fuzzy Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method to uncover and evaluate the most influential factors in GSCM criteria. This quantitative approach helps us identify crucial criteria by assessing supplier performance. While limitations in generalizability and potential biases are acknowledged, the study emphasizes the strategic necessity of supplier selection in GSCM. It provides actionable insights for managers, enhancing decision-making and contributing to sustainable supply chain practices.

Agricultural ergonomics employs methods such as Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to assess postural risks. However, these methods may be inaccurate and time-consuming. The objective of this study is to compare the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI), specifically a software based on MediaPipe, with conventional methods (RULA-REBA) to identify and assess ergonomic risks due to postures in rice agriculture. The methodology employed involved the development of AI software with MediaPipe, which was designed to detect postures in real time. This model was capable of identifying 33 anatomical points, thereby enabling detailed analysis of movement and posture. The results demonstrated that the AI outperformed RULA and REBA in detecting forced postures. Furthermore, it provided faster and more accurate assessments. The findings indicated that AI could be a valuable tool in agricultural ergonomics, potentially outperforming traditional methods. This could significantly improve working conditions and reduce musculoskeletal disorders among farmers.

Au croisement des tâches « cohérence » et « formation des enseignants » de l’ANR ECalm, cette contribution porte sur la cohérence de textes d’élèves d’école primaire et de début de collège. Elle met en regard des annotations discursives prenant appui sur une extension de la SDRT (Segmented Discourse Representation Theory) permettant l’annotation de points d’incohérence et des jugements de cohérence formulés par des enseignant.e.s du premier degré dans le cadre d’une session de formation continue. La cohérence est envisagée comme une propriété de la représentation de discours que se construit celui qui interprète le texte tout au long de sa lecture. Le corpus analysé est issu du corpus RESOLCO, l’un des corpus de textes scolaires collectés, transcrits et annotés dans le cadre de l’ANR E-Calm. Ce corpus est constitué de textes en réponse à une même consigne d’écriture : une tâche-problème demandant aux élèves la rédaction d’un texte narratif impliquant la résolution d’anaphores de divers types. Cette analyse comparative vise tout d’abord à mettre à l’épreuve le modèle d’annotation discursive. Les incohérences visualisées dans les représentations sémantiques issues de l’analyse linguistique sous forme de graphes sont également perçues par les enseignant.e.s confronté.e.s à la lecture de ces mêmes textes, ce qui permet de valider le modèle. L’analyse des échanges à l’intérieur d’un groupe d’enseignants fait apparaitre que l’un des deux dispositifs proposés favorise la mise en place chez les enseignants d’une posture de lecteur à la recherche de la construction de la cohérence et non d’évaluateur en référence à une norme linguistique et leur permet d’interroger les calculs interprétatifs permettant de formuler des jugements de cohérence. La présentation des graphes aux enseignant.e.s les aide ensuite à objectiver leurs intuitions linguistiques et leurs jugements de cohérence.

Finding suitable installation sites for renewable energy technologies requires careful planning and consideration of multiple factors and not just relying on the location’s energy potential. This research work presents a suitability analysis of solar PV farm installation using GIS and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in Simara Island, Province of Romblon, Philippines. The study gathered key important details of the island from various sources and then categorized them in terms of climatology, location, environment, meteorology, and disaster susceptibility. Meanwhile, a pairwise comparison was obtained after a panel of experts ranked the above-mentioned parameters. A multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) using AHP were then applied to generate new sets of suitability maps, which were combined through weighted overlay analysis using QGIS to produce the necessary solar PV suitability map. The map reveals the spatial distribution of suitable solar PV farm installation sites, including highly suitable, suitable, moderately suitable, marginally suitable, and unsuitable locations. Results show that most of the island is suitable for solar PV farm installation at 42.81%, while 39.73% accounting for highly suitable locations. Moderately suitable and marginally suitable sites account for 8.76% and 1.07%, respectively, and 7.63% is deemed unsuitable. This study successfully identifies suitable locations for solar PV farm installations on Simara Island, demonstrating the effectiveness of the GIS and AHP combined methodology. This approach holds great potential for guiding RE planning and development in similar island regions in the Philippines.

Two aluminum–boron oxide catalysts were produced via a sol–gel method at pH 3 and 4 during the solution mixing step of the synthesis, these materials were employed in thermocatalytic degradation of coniferyl aldehyde (CA), which was used as a probe molecule of the lignin polymeric molecule and is comprised of the repetitive monomers coniferyl, sinapyl, and paracoumaryl. The two synthesized catalysts were mostly amorphous and mesoporous, aiding in permeability and percolation of CA. A commercial catalyst was compared (Pt/alumina at 1 wt%) with both catalysts synthesized in this work by kinetic tests by varying the CA concentration and inlet temperature. Under the same reaction conditions, the commercial catalyst showed higher activity than the aluminum–boron oxide catalysts, but the synthetic catalysts presented a wider variety of organic products than the commercial catalyst. In particular, two high-value products, isomers of eugenol and isoeugenol, were yielded in higher percentages. The experimental reaction rate data was fit to a Langmuir–Hinshelwood model, and kinetic parameters were analyzed, revealing how the adsorbed CA molecules on the catalytic surface had higher mobility with the synthesized catalyst compared with the commercial catalyst, the value of $\Delta S_{\mathrm{ads}}^{0}$ for the synthetic catalysts were $-$5.48 and $-$4.31 J/mol-K and for the commercial catalyst $-$37.17 J/mol-K.

This article investigates the understudied phenomenon of secondary non-take-up (NTU) among Latino immigrants in Madrid, London, and New York City from their own perspective. It examines the reasons behind secondary NTU across the three sites and examines the relevance of type of welfare state in which they live. The findings of this paper suggest that secondary NTU is prevalent in these three sites. It identifies prejudice from social workers as the leading cause of secondary NTU among Latino immigrants.

Economic parity continues to be one of the main challenges to achieving gender equality worldwide, even though disparities between countries in the economic gender gap are frequently neglected. In this paper, we use a fuzzy logic approach to measure the extent to which countries are narrowing this gap. Specifically, we evaluate the degree to which 110 countries evolved from 2006 to 2019 in each of the three dimensions of the World Economic Forum’s Economic Participation and Opportunity Index (remuneration, participation and advancement). We focus on which countries have been left behind and to what extent they have pulled away from the rest. The findings reveal that differences across countries in advancement gender gaps are more evident than in the other dimensions. Moreover, while there are signs of convergence in the closure of the gender gaps in remuneration, we do not find such evidence for the advancement and participation gender gaps.

The Middle Triassic (Ladinian) deposits of the Catalan Basin (Spain) are essentially represented by extensive marine carbonate platforms developed in a rift tectonic setting. During the Ladinian, a regional sea-level drop led to a significant paleogeographic reorganisation of the depocentres of eastern Iberia producing a relevant shift in the distribution of the sedimentary environments. To better calibrate the age of the correlative conformity and the associated depositional facies, a new palynological study was carried out in two localities in Tarragona province (Spain). The palynological assemblages suggest a Longobardian–Cordevolian age (Middle–Late Triassic transition) for the materials deposited below and above the correlative conformity. This study allows a refined biostratigraphic and sedimentary correlation between the carbonate sediments in the Catalan Basin and those in the Iberian Ranges and adjacent basins of the Tethys region.

The Phenobot platform is comprised by an autonomous robot, instrumentation, artificial intelligence, and digital twin diagnosis at the molecular level, marking the transition from pure data-driven to knowledge-driven agriculture 4.0, towards a physiology-based approach to precision viticulture. Such is achieved by measuring the plant metabolome ‘in vivo' and 'in situ', using spectroscopy and artificial intelligence for quantifying metabolites, e.g.: i. grapes: chlorophylls a and b, pheophytins a and b, anthocyanins, carotenoids, malic and tartaric acids, glucose and fructose; ii. foliage: chlorophylls a and b, pheophytins a and b, anthocyanins, carotenoids, nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, sugars, and leaf water potential; and iii. soil nutrients (NPK). The geo-referenced metabolic information of each plant (organs and tissues) is the basis of multi-scaled analysis: i. geo-referenced metabolic maps of vineyards at the macroscopic field level, and ii. genome-scale 'in-silico' digital twin model for inferential physiology (phenotype state) and omics diagnosis at the molecular and cellular levels (transcription, enzyme efficiency, and metabolic fluxes). Genome-scale 'in-silico' Vitis vinifera numerical network relationships and fluxes comprise the scientific knowledge about the plant's physiological response to external stimuli, being the comparable mechanisms between laboratory and field experimentation - providing a causal and interpretable relationship to a complex system subjected to external spurious interactions (e.g., soil, climate, and ecosystem) scrambling pure data-driven approaches. This new approach identifies the molecular and cellular targets for managing plant physiology under different stress conditions, enabling new sustainable agricultural practices and bridging agriculture with plant biotechnology, towards faster innovations (e.g. biostimulants, anti-microbial compounds/mechanisms, nutrition, and water management). Phenobot is a project under the Portuguese emblematic initiative in Agriculture 4.0, part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (Ref. PRR: 190 Ref. 09/C05-i03/2021 – PRR-C05-i03-I-000134).

Current trends in the snack bar market emphasize the incorporation of alternative protein sources while simultaneously addressing the criteria of being both “high in fiber” and “high in protein”. Hemp seed, the seed of non-psychoactive Cannabis Sativa L, stands out as a significant source of protein, dietary fiber, minerals, and unsaturated fats. This study aims to explore the nutritional potential of hemp seed to develop a functional food that responds to the needs of such a market highly demanding of plant-based alternatives. Along with seeds protein nutritional quality analysis and lipid profile characterization, three snack bar samples containing hemp seed as a functional ingredient were formulated, according to nutritional claims regulations. Two products with 20% hemp met sensory acceptability criteria. This study suggests hemp seed as a potential functional food ingredient to meet the demand for plant-based alternatives, offering quality protein, digestive benefits due to its high fiber content and an optimal omega 6 to omega 3 ratio. However, there appears to be an upper limit for hemp seed in product formulations due to sensory issues. This study showed that adding more than 40% to a snack bar significantly reduced consumer acceptability and purchase intent.

As a cascade precursor of the Debris Flow phenomenon, landslides generate economic losses and human fatalities worldwide, especially in mountainous and tropical countries like Colombia. This work proposes two different methodologies of defining rainfall thresholds as a tool for Early Warning Systems for Debris Flow occurrence in Colombian urban and mountainous catchments: Empirical-Statistical and Physically based. Empirical-Statistical rainfall thresholds are defined using several data sources such as rain gauges (pluviometers), radar, and satellite data allowing a different timing and spatial resolution in the definition. The definition of physically based rainfall thresholds the TRIGRS software is used in mountainous catchments with rainfall data from rain gauges, with the information from the safety factor map resulting in the simulations calculated as the cumulative density function from the histogram of the distributed safety factor allowing the understanding of how the instability varies in a catchment during different storms events

The present project has been elaborated with the purpose of analyzing the development of Aloe vera in three types of soil that are the most common in Honduras, such as: sand, clay, and fertilized soil. The Aloe vera plant has the characteristic of being very versatile, which facilitates its growth in different types of soil. The objective of this research is to know the best type of soil for the plant to develop and to know if the pH of the plant is affected by the type of soil in which it is found. Three Aloe vera plants were taken, each one was transplanted to its respective soil and during five weeks pH samples were taken from each plant and it was identified if there were changes or not. Similarly, growth samples were taken from each plant to help us determine which one has a faster growth, which is an indication of a good development. It was also considered to take the pH of each soil since this indicates the availability of nutrients in the soil so that this data helps us to know if the plant will have a good development, considering that for this to be so it is recommended that Aloe vera is planted in soils with a pH between 6.5 to 6.8, that is, an acid soil. Statistically it can be concluded that the pH of the three types of soil has no significant differences. Therefore, pH is not a determining factor in the growth of savila plants.

Adaptive thermal comfort has gained momentum within the scientific community as a cost effective and affordable way of maintaining acceptable levels of comfort in dwellings while abating energy expenditure. At the moment two international standards, namely the European EN16798-1 and the American ASHRAE55-2010 shape the understanding of adaptive comfort around the world. However, in recent years concerns have raised about whether they can accurately represent comfort conditions considering the cultural and societal background of different countries, and whether adaptive thermal comfort will be still feasible in future scenarios of climate change. Considering these challenges, this study presents an algorithm which can model different adaptive comfort models; additionally, it can be implemented into energy simulation engines and therefore used to predict energy consumption under different climates, building typologies, and dynamic comfort conditions. This contribution presents the development of the aforementioned algorithm, called ACCIS (Adaptive-Comfort-Control-Implementation Script), originally written in EnergyPlus Runtime Language (ERL) and later nested in a Python package called ACCIM (Adaptive-Comfort-Control-Implemented Model)”, its main characteristics, and also the implementation into two cases studies: The thermal comfort in social dwellings in Spain and Japan considering present and future climate change scenarios namely Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP) 2.6, 4.5 and 8.5 for years 2050, 2080 and 2100. The results show that the predicted energy consumption of low-income families is strongly influenced by the adaptive comfort model chosen to model their thermal routine and suggest that international standards should be put under revision to consider the local particularities of dwellers in subsidized housing projects. The results of this research can be useful to devise public policies aimed at abating energy cost for low-income dwellers that benefit from social housing programs, particularly in the light of the increment of energy costs for heating and cooling associated with climate change..

Slug flow is widely encountered in oil and gas systems. It has an unsteady hydrodynamic behavior that motivated the development of mechanistic models to better understand and quantify the parameters of the flow. The present work investigated several slug flow conditions through an experimental campaign that was performed in a 2-in ID horizontal pipe facility. The experimental data were statistically analyzed and they indicated the suitability of a lognormal distribution to model the flow characteristics, such as slug length, film length, and frequency. Based on the mean results, slug and film lengths tend to increase as more gas is present in the flow. The mean frequency indicated that higher frequencies are obtained with lower gas fractions. All the slugs from each test were individually studied using different approaches to analyze the data. The results suggest the existence of a relationship between the slug and film lengths when the slug unit is identified starting from a film region followed by a slug region. The values of the coefficient of determination for the relation between slug length and film length indicate a possible influence of other flow parameters of stochastic nature, such as slug liquid holdup, that could affect the behavior of the slugs.

The implementation of robotics has provided various solutions to the problematic caused by Covid-19 to reduce the exposure of people when alternating work, therefore the present project was designed and manufactured a semi-autonomous fumigation robot which is made using a sprinkler and a pump, to give it autonomy was incorporated line tracking that works utilizing infrared and ultrasonic sensors. For the development of the project, the V-based methodology was used, in which the 3 branches of mechatronics are integrated. As a result, the robot can be applied in commercial and industrial areas for disinfection of floors and surfaces to reduce exposure to the virus. A nozzle with an angle of 60° was used having a range of 3.2 m wide and reaches a height of 1.6 m. as a final result, it was obtained that the robot is capable of disinfecting 3.2 m2/s.

Isidro González Velázquez’s experiences and works in Italy, sponsored by the monarch Charles IV with the purpose of studying the antiquities of Rome, are better known than those of the rest of the Spanish pensionados of the eighteenth century, thanks to the conservation of plans, drawings and documents of the architect in different institutions. Recently, the Real Academia de San Fernando acquired an important collection of drawings with measures by Velázquez, mostly related to classical monuments. This collection comes to enlighten the fieldwork system of Velázquez, and in general of the students of architecture of his time, the state of conservation of the constructions he was interested in (the temples of the Forum, the Theatre of Marcellus, the Forum of Augustus, etc.) and the professional relationships that he established in order to carry out the measurement of these classical buildings.

El presente artículo versa sobre el uso de metodologías basadas en las TIC; más concretamente, sobre la gamificación como elemento generador de motivación en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje en un contexto universitario japonés para la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera. Método: se realizó un estudio de carácter mixto (cuasiexperimental y transversal) aplicado a dos grupos de estudiantes (grupo control y experimental). Se partió de la hipótesis de que la aplicación de técnicas gamificadas provocaría un aumento de la motivación entre el alumnado y, por consiguiente, una mejora del rendimiento académico. Conclusiones: uno de los principales objetivos de la investigación era el de delimitar las mecánicas y plasmarlas en un curso gamificado y replicarlas en nuestra práctica docente, ya que según los resultados obtenidos queda demostrado que de esta forma se genera un mayor compromiso e implicación en los alumnos. GAMIFICATION PROJECT IN JAPANESE HIGHER EDUCATION FOR SPANISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE This paper discusses and highlights the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT); more precisely showing gamification as a motivational generator element, in a Japanese university context, for teaching Spanish as a foreign language. The method: the investigative approach is a mixed method (quantitative and qualitative) This quasi-experimental and cross-cutting design study was applied to two student groups (experimental and control groups). The working hypothesis is that as a result of the implementation of gamification strategies and techniques to a course through LMS (Blended Learning) for teaching Spanish, motivation and academic performance will increase among students. In conclusion: one of the main goals of this article is to frame and enclose the main mechanics of gamification, and apply them into our daily teaching. According to the data obtained, it is therefore apparent that we achieve a higher commitment and better involvement from our students.

This article analyses the changes the profession of primary school teacher has been submitted to. It focuses on a device prompted to fight against school failure, called “Personalised Programme for School Success” (PPRE). It shows its propensity to above all reinforce the control on pedagogical practices through a mandatory formalization of those and to standardise the responses commonly held about schooling difficulties while engaging the entire hierarchical chain.

The article provides an overview of the state of the Bariba language on the Replublic of Benin (West Africa) and reflects on the urgent need to make effective the wishes of implementing a language policy that promotes a rigurous multilingual education of quality that helps preserve native languages. Through some visits to local schools of the Beninese Departments of Borgou and Alibori and through the language autobiographies of significant people from the Bariba language community of those departments, we highlight five reflections that underline the importance of multilingualism and point out the multilingual school as a key element for the preservation of intangible heritage, for social development and for achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

L’encadrement de doctorants est un processus complexe où activité de recherche, connaissances et individus sont étroitement liés dans un système d’interaction évolutif entre doctorant et encadrant(s). Nous décrivons ici le dispositif EDEN (École des doctorants et encadrants de l’Inra) de l’Inra (Institut national de la recherche agronomique) qui a l’originalité de s’adresser aux binômes doctorant-encadrant(s). Partant de nos objectifs de formation et de notre posture pédagogique d’accompagnement de la réflexivité du binôme, nous présentons le dispositif EDEN et en dressons un bilan après six années d’activité.

The baseball stadium construction project would be located in this place that suffers from serious pollution since it is affected by the surrounding industries, which leave as a result damage to its water and air (due to metals, garbage dumps in the river and that affect the air), another factor that affects is the climate whose average is 23 degrees per year with variations ranging from 7 to 43 degrees Celsius, making it a place that requires intervention by architects where design and construction are applied. eco-sustainable construction at low costs, through a project in which the customs of the stadium users make them aware of the use of resources.

With this article we intend to show the policy adopted by the king Fernando VII regarding to the restitution of the artistic patrimony confiscated to the religious communities during the Independence War’s conflicting years, as well as the part played in this process by the Real Academia de San Fernando. When the project of founding the Museo Fernandino failed, the Academy, receiver of many of the paintings dispersed during the French Government, tried to increase his pictorial collection to the detriment of their legitimate proprietors, although laws promulgated from 1814 favoured the works of art were recovered by the religious establishments. In the case of the Hospital de la Caridad of Seville, the Academy kept paintings until the 20th century, based on the agreement of the clergymen with the French.

A Smart City is one that places people at the center of development, incorporates Information and Communication Technologies in urban management and uses these elements as tools to stimulate the formation of an efficient government that includes collaborative planning processes and citizen participation. By promoting integrated and sustainable development, Smart Cities become more innovative, competitive, attractive, and resilient, thus improving lives. The social fabric of the industrial zone of Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, presents an important social disconnection, in addition to being an industrial sector, generating considerably a lot of environmental pollution. It seeks to find solutions through technology and the model of Smart Cities and thus contribute to improving the quality of life in the area.

Deploying the right circularity indicators (c-indicators) is key to assessing and improving the performance of products, companies, and regions from a circular economy (CE) perspective. Building on the initial taxonomy of c-indicators, this project extends the identification of sets of c-indicators to more than 100. Working with a think tank of CE experts from major French industrial companies, five new features have been added to better characterize a set of c-indicators to its practical use in an industrial context. These new features are: (i) CE spheres considered, (ii) life cycle stages covered, (iii) the availability of use cases, (iv) the popularity, and (v) transparency. Statistical trends and critical analysis on these c-indicators are then given. On this basis, a set of ten complementary c-indicators is particularly proposed, covering a wider spectrum of the CE paradigm, including, e.g., material flow, energy flow, impact, design, and corporate-based indicators. In practice, to support decision-makers in the industry (e.g., managers, engineers, product leaders, designers) compute and deploy appropriately these c-indicators, a new and highly visual factsheet for c-indicators is developed. Last but not least, discussion on the articulation, positioning, and potential trade-offs between c-indicators and LCA-based indicators are made through different scenarios and illustrative examples.

The relationship between architecture and technology throughout history has continually meant the discipline's adaptation to new technological advances. Simultaneously, the contemporary city allows us to see the processes of evolution or involution in those who think about it, design it, build it and live it. In recent years, new technologies have been introduced that allow the morphological flexibility of buildings, such as responsive architecture, where the shape of the building can be reprogrammed and adapted to its spatial environment. These technologies function as a programmed response mechanism from catalytic elements thrown by the environment, these catalysts can vary from sensory elements to bio-climatic elements. This paper seeks to reflect on a new turn of these new adaptable technologies, where the human being himself is the key catalyst in the responsive process of these new buildings. This strives to promote a methodology where, through the union of the user participation and responsive environments, it is possible to introduce a new concept of Participatory Design. In this way, a new possibility can be introduced to create buildings that are constantly at the forefront of the social needs of the communities, where users not only manage to be part of the construction and design of the building but are also part of its constant evolutionary process.
