The phreatic aquifer of the Beni-Amir irrigated area (Tadla, Morocco) is a plio-quaternary heterogeneous reservoir. Human activities and natural recharge variations have direct effects on temporal groundwater level fluctuations. Indeed the irrigation process of the Beni-Amir area, has led to groundwater table rise problems. Hence, several thousands of hectares of this area have been flooded from groundwater table rise ; afterwards groundwater and soil quality become deteriorated due to their salinisation. In this work, we present a hydrogeological analysis and characterisation of the study area: hydrodynamic parameters, space and temporal piezometric variation in order to characterise the hydrogeological behavior of the aquifer system. The results show that the groundwater table rise is directly due to the recharge from irrigated water and irrigation practices, in addition to a no suitable water drainage system. The piezometric maps show that two zones are permanently affected by the groundwater table rise problem. A diagnosis of groundwater pollution by salt and nitrate accumulation has shown a net deterioration of groundwater quality due to the practices of the irrigation management and fertilizers, in addition to groundwater recycling from pumping wells.

- Abstract
The radiopharmaceutical (99m)Tc-DTPA (diethylene-triamine-pentaacetic acid) is a tracer widely used in renal scintigraphy to assess glomerular filtration rate. The estimation of protein binding is very important due to its impact on clinical parameters biodistribution since only the free fraction is filtered by the kidney. A number of laboratory techniques have been developed to study protein binding. Precipitation and ultrafiltration are the mostly used techniques in pharmacology for studies of the binding between proteins and small molecules. The aim of this work is to apply and compare those two analytical methods in (99m)Tc-DTPA protein binding determination in vitro before in vivo application. The results obtained by precipitation with trichloroacetic acid are not enough reproducible, while those obtained by ultrafiltration seem more consistent and reproducible., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS. - Abstract
Zygophylle or Zygophyllum gaetulum Emberger and. Maire is a Moroccan medicinal plant which has been used as an anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antispasmodic and antidiarrheic. The present study was carried out to study and compare the anti-inflammatory effect of ethanolic extract with aqueous extract of Z. gaetulum. Organic extract of Z. gaetulum was obtained in soxhlet apparatus. Aqueous extract was obtained by infusion. The Wistar albinos rats of either sex weighing 200-300 g aged 2-3 months were used for this experiment. The rats were housed under standard environmental conditions. The anti-inflammatory activity was estimated by measuring the oedema induced by carragenin according to the method of Winter and al. Ethanolic extract of Z. gaetulum reduced the increase of the paw volume with a percentage of inhibition of 46% (p<0.01), this percentage was 47.48% (p<0.01) with aqueous extract. The inhibition decrease in time, it arrived to 39% (p<0.01) at the sixth hour while the activity of aqueous extract decrease a lot. In conclusion, Z. gaetulum is an interesting plant which the aqueous and éthanolic extracts could be used scientifically in the treatment of inflammation., (Copyright © 2011 Elsevier Masson SAS. - Abstract
Introduction: Primary mediastinal liposarcomas are rare tumours with various histological features. Local recurrence is frequent., Case Report: We report the case of a 70-year-old patient, in whom a mediastinal mass was resected surgically and identified as a mediastinal, "lipoma-like" liposarcoma on histopathological examination. Nine years later, the patient complained of dyspnoea with cough. The chest X-ray showed anterior mediastinal enlargement and the chest CT scan revealed a heterogeneous mass containing both solid tissue and fat. The patient underwent a successful surgical resection of the mass and the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of a recurrent, mixed-type liposarcoma of the mediastinum (well-differentiated and myxoid)., Conclusion: This report discusses the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic features of this tumour., (Copyright © 2010. - Abstract
Hydatidosis is a cosmopolitan parasitic disease that remains a real public health problem in highly endemic countries. Surgery is the mainstay treatment, but with significant morbidity and mortality. In addition, contraindications for surgery emphasize the importance of developing effective medications. Currently, albendazole is the main anti-hydatid agent used worldwide. It has proven efficacy but limited bioavailability due to weak absorption. In order to improve the bioavailability of this molecule we synthesized an ester of albendazole, which exhibits a totally modified solubility compared with the princeps compound. This synthesis was achieved with an output of 75%. The structure of the synthetic product was established by IR spectrometry and by proton nuclear magnetic resonance. A careful toxicity study revealed that this product has little toxicity when administered intraperitoneally and orally in mice, with a lethal dose 50 of 2,500 mg/kg per os and 2,250 mg/kg intraperitoneally, values comparable to those of albendazole. This in vitro parasitological study demonstrated that the chemical changes introduced on the albendazole molecule had no effect on its antiparasitic activity.

- Abstract
Unlabelled: Myocardial infarction with normal coronary artery is ussually inaugural, with electric and clinical characteristics similar to those with atheroma. The role of constitutional or acquired abnormalities of haemostasis has been more incriminated in the pathogenesis of myocardial infarction with normal coronary. The aim of our study was to research abnormalities of haemostasis in patients with myocardial infarction and angiographically absolutely normal coronary arteries., Patients and Methods: Thirty nine patients with myocardial infarction and normal coronary arteries where included in our study. They were 33 males and 6 females aged between 22 and 75 years (44 + 13 years), in whom the deficiency in protein C and S. antithrombin, activated protein C resistance and antiphospholipid antibodies were assessed., Results: Concurrent abnormalities of haemostasis were found in 10 patients: Antiphospholipid antibodies, found in 5 patients constitute the most frequent abnormality. The other abnormalities were deficiency in protein C in two cases, deficiency in protein S 2 cases, deficiency in antithrombin in 2 ceses and activated protein C resistance in 3 cases ., Conclusion: In our study. in face of the high prevalence of these abnormalities, it seems reasonable to research them, especially in young patients with myocardial infarction with normal coronary artery. This should have an impact on the management of these patients.

- Abstract
Nephroblastoma is a common malignant tumour in childhood that benefited from therapeutic progress. This is a retrospective study of 35 nephroblastoma diagnosed and treated in the central region of Tunisia within the last 8 years (1991-1999). We report and compare clinical features, therapeutic results and prognostic factors with those reported in the literature. The mean age was 3-years and 9 months, and the main clinical symptom was abdominal mass. Pre-operative chemotherapy was done in 32 cases and the objective response rate was 58%. Thirty-three patients had radical nephrectomy and only one had partial nephrectomy. Histologic analysis concluded to an anaplastic nephroblastoma in 2 cases. Using the classification of the international society of pediatric oncology, 11.4% of tumours were stage I, 48.6% stage II, 5.7% stage III, 11.4% stage IV and 2.9% stage V. The overall 5 years survival was 80%; tumour relapse was only independent prognosis factor in multivariate analysis (P < 0.01). Prognosis of nephroblastoma has been improved with chemotherapy and the pluridisciplinar treatment.
