In both Western and East Asian traditions, large claims have been made about the power of aesthetic experience, whether of art (especially music) or of nature, to foster a sense of transcendence. There are, however, important differences between the traditions and, in consequence, between the characters of these claims. After illustrating these claims, I identify and elaborate on some of their salient aspects. I then argue that East Asian traditions possess greater resources than Western ones for explaining or accommodating these aspects, and hence for substantiating the claims about experience and transcendence.

El artículo presenta una entrevista realizada en 2006 con Valentina Villegas Arias, antropóloga colombiana ya fallecida que a comienzos de la década del 2000 hizo trabajo de campo entre una organización de afrocolombianos de Casanare (Colombia). Las respuestas de Valentina ponen sobre la mesa algunos temas que son de especial interés para los antropólogos, tales como el acceso al terreno, los primeros contactos, la delimitación del problema de investigación, el proceso de recolección de datos, el establecimiento de relaciones con algunas personas, la evitación de otras, el trabajo de campo y sus significados personales, y algunas problemáticas sensibles y aún actuales en la sociedad colombiana como el racismo, la discriminación, la marginalidad, las formas de diferenciación cultural, la explotación laboral, el papel de actores armados ilegales en el control social y en las formas de contratación laboral, la reivindicación de derechos culturales y territoriales de los grupos étnicos, las dinámicas de las identidades culturales y los procesos políticos organizativos, entre otros. Además de dejar testimonio escrito de una voz que no está más entre nosotros, el principal objetivo de esta entrevista es reflexionar sobre las implicaciones de hacer antropología en Colombia, lo que el trabajo de campo significa para algunos de sus practicantes y la visión que desde su formación profesional ofrecen estos de los problemas del país y de sus grupos étnicos.

Starting from work by S. Tanno, [39], and E. Barletta et al., [3], we study the geometry of (possibly non integrable) almost CR structures on contact Riemannian manifolds. We characterize CR-pluriharmonic functions in terms of differential operators naturally attached to the given contact Riemannian structure. We show that the almost CR structure of a contact Riemannian manifold (M,η) admitting global nonzero closed sections (with respect to which η is volume normalized) in the canonical bundle is integrable and η is a pseudo-Einstein contact form. The pseudohermitian holonomy of a Sasakian manifold M^{2n+1} is shown to be contained in SU(n) × 1 if and only if the Tanaka-Webster connection is Ricci flat. Also, for any quaternionic Sasakian manifold (M^{4m+1}, (F,T,θ,g)) either the Tanaka-Webster connection of (M^{4m+1},θ) is Ricci flat or m = 1 and then (M^5,θ) is pseudo-Einstein if and only if 4p + ρ∗ θ is closed, where p is a local 1-form on M^5 such that ∇G = p ⊗ H and ∇H = −p ⊗ G for some frame {F, G, H}, and ρ∗ is the pseudohermitian scalar curvature of (M^5,θ). On any Sasakian manifold M there is a smooth integrable Pfaffian system, invariant by Ψ(x) (the pseudohermitian holonomy group at x ∈ M) containing the contact flow as a subfoliation. We build canonical connections (reminiscent of the Tanaka connection, [38]) on complex vector bundles over contact Riemannian manifolds, carrying a pre-∂-operator and a Hermitian metric. As an application, we compute the first structure function of the underlying almost CR structure of a contact Riemannian manifold. The restricted conformal class [G_η] of the (generalized) Fefferman metric and certain canonical connections D (with trace Λ_gR^D = 0) are shown to be gauge invariants.

L'infection par le papillomavirus humain (HPV) est l'une des infections sexuellement transmissibles les plus répandues dans le monde. Certaines conditions sous-jacentes comme l'immunosuppression favorisent la persistance des lésions intra-épithéliales et la progression vers une forme agressive. Les patients atteints de maladies auto-immunes, en particulier le lupus érythémateux systémique (LES) et la polyarthrite rhumatoïde, sont plus à risque d'infection par l'HPV et d'évolution vers la dysplasie cervicale [1]. Pratiquée avant le début de la vie sexuelle, l'efficacité de la vaccination pour prévenir l'infection par les HPV inclus dans le vaccin est proche de 100 %. Pour autant, l'acceptabilité du vaccin HPV reste insuffisante et la couverture vaccinale demeure faible chez les jeunes filles françaises depuis son introduction en 2007. La couverture vaccinale contre l'HPV n'est pas connue chez les enfants atteints de LES et d'AJI en France. L'objectif de l'étude était d'estimer le taux de vaccination contre l'HPV chez les filles atteintes de LES et d'AJI en âge vaccinal. Le second objectif était d'étudier les raisons et les facteurs associés à la vaccination et à la non-vaccination. Étude transversale multicentrique dans deux centres de références à Paris et Lyon, chez des jeunes filles de 9 à 19 ans et leur adulte accompagnant. Les critères de mesures étaient la proportion de filles ayant reçu ou en cours de vaccination contre l'HPV, le respect du schéma vaccinal, les facteurs associés à la vaccination et les motifs de vaccination et de non-vaccination à travers un auto-questionnaire administré aux jeunes filles et à leur adulte accompagnant entre janvier 2020 et juillet 2021. Soixante et onze patientes (16 LES et 55 AJI) ont été incluses avec un âge moyen de 14,2 ans (SD 1,8 ; rang 10–18). Selon l'interrogatoire des parents, 39 % des patientes sont vaccinées contre l'HPV ou en cours de vaccination (43,7 % et 38 % des LES et AJI, respectivement). Ce taux est de 62 % pour les 29 patientes âgées de 15 ans et plus. Soixante et onze pour cent des vaccinées ont reçu leur première dose entre 11 et 14 ans. Le vaccin était autant réalisé par un médecin généraliste (39 %) que par un pédiatre hospitalier (39 % également). Les facteurs associés de manière significatives à la vaccination était l'âge plus élevé et l'antécédent de vaccination par l'hépatite B. Il n'y avait pas d'association retrouvée entre la durée d'évolution de la maladie, le degré d'immunosuppression ou le niveau éducatif des parents. La recommandation du vaccin par un professionnel de santé et la crainte des maladies liées à l'HPV sont les principaux éléments motivateurs pour la vaccination. Le manque de connaissance à propos du vaccin, l'absence de proposition par un professionnel de santé et la crainte des effets secondaires du vaccin représentaient les principaux freins à la vaccination. La couverture vaccinale contre l'HPV reste insuffisante parmi les patientes atteintes de maladie auto-immune. La formation et la sensibilisation des professionnels de santé aux infections à HPV sont des éléments cruciaux dans l'acceptation du vaccin. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
