Le microbiome de la rhizosphère fait généralement référence aux communautés bactériennes, archées et fongiques ainsi qu'à leur matériel génétique entourant étroitement les systèmes racinaires des plantes. Le métagénome de ce microbiome a été appelé le deuxième génome de la plante puisqu’elle est capable de profiter de plusieurs fonctions dont elle manque. La communauté microbienne de la rhizosphère inclue entre autres des microorganismes ayant développé des interactions intimes et spécifiques de longue durée avec les racines des plantes. Il s'agit d'une communauté dynamique de microorganismes, à partir de laquelle une partie d’espèces a développé des interactions intimes et spécifiques de longue durée avec les racines des plantes. Les progrès récents dans l’étude des interactions plantes-microbes ont démontré leur impact considérable sur la croissance, la nutrition et la santé des plantes. Le microbiote de la rhizosphère est complexe avec une structure spatio-temporelle dynamique qui s'adapte rapidement en fonction des stress biotiques et abiotiques. Considérant l’importance du microbiome de la rhizosphère pour la santé des plantes, des informations précises sur leurs microbes associés sont d'une importance capitale pour déchiffrer les mécanismes d'adaptation des plantes aux stress médiés par le microbiome et comprendre comment les plantes recrutent des taxons microbiens clés pour mieux faire face aux conditions stressantes. Pour ce faire, nous avons mené trois études afin de faire la lumière sur les facteurs qui jouent un rôle dans le recrutement et la structure du microbiome de la rhizosphère de plantes dans les milieux stressés. Dans un premier lieu, nous avons testé si des inoculations répétées avec des protéobactéries influençaient la productivité des plantes et les communautés microbiennes associées à la rhizosphère de quatre espèces végétales poussant dans des sédiments contaminés par des hydrocarbures pétroliers. Une expérience de mésocosme a été réalisée en conception de blocs randomisés avec deux facteurs : 1) la présence ou l'absence de quatre espèces végétales collectées dans un bassin de sédimentation d'une ancienne usine pétrochimique, et 2) l'inoculation ou non avec un consortium bactérien composé de dix isolats de Protéobactéries. Les plantes ont été cultivées en serre pendant quatre mois. Le séquençage d'amplicon MiSeq, ciblant le gène de l'ARNr 16S bactérien l’ITS fongique, a été utilisé pour évaluer les structures de la communauté microbienne des sédiments provenant de mesocosmes plantés ou non plantés. Nos résultats ont montré qu’alors que l'inoculation provoquait un changement significatif dans les communautés microbiennes, la présence de la plante et de son identité spécifique avait une influence plus forte sur la structure du microbiome dans les sédiments contaminés par les hydrocarbures pétroliers. Ensuite, en utilisant le même dispositif expérimental, nous avons utilisé le séquençage d'amplicon MiSeq ciblant le gène de l'ARNr 18S pour évaluer les structures communautaires AMF dans les racines et la rhizosphère de plantes poussant dans des substrats contaminés et non contaminés. Nous avons également étudié la contribution de l'identité spécifique des plantes et du biotope (racines des plantes et sol rhizosphérique) dans la formation des assemblages AMF associés. Nos résultats ont montré que si l'inoculation provoquait un changement significatif dans les communautés AMF, la contamination du substrat avait une influence beaucoup plus forte sur leur structure, suivie par le biotope et l'identité végétale dans une moindre mesure. De plus, l'inoculation augmentait considérablement la production de biomasse végétale et était associée à une diminution de la dissipation des hydrocarbures pétroliers dans le sol contaminé. Le résultat de cette étude fournit des connaissances sur les facteurs influençant la diversité et la structure communautaire de l'AMF associée aux plantes en milieux stressés à la suite d’inoculations répétées d'un consortium bactérien. Finalement, nous avons testé l’effet d’une inoculation d’arbres avec des champignons mycorhiziens spécifiques sur leur survie et croissance, ainsi que l’extraction de métaux traces. Pour ce faire, une expérience sur le terrain a été menée dans laquelle nous avons cultivé le clone de Salix miyabeana "SX67" sur le site d'une décharge industrielle déclassée, et inoculé les arbustes avec le champignon arbusculaire mycorhizien Rhizophagus irregularis, le champignon ectomycorhizien Sphaerosporella brunnea, ou un mélange des deux. Après deux saisons de croissance, les saules inoculés avec le champignon S. brunnea ont produit une biomasse significativement plus élevée. Le Ba, le Cd et le Zn se sont avérés être accumulés dans les parties aériennes des plantes, où le Cd présentait les valeurs de facteur de bioconcentration les plus élevées dans tous les traitements. De plus, les parcelles où les saules ont reçu l'inoculation de S. brunnea ont montré une diminution significative des concentrations de Cu, Pb et Sn dans le sol. L'inoculation avec R. irregularis ainsi que la double inoculation n'ont pas influencé de manière significative la production de biomasse et les niveaux d’éléments traces du sol. Le résultat de cette étude apporte des connaissances sur la diversité et l’écophysiologie des microbes de la rhizosphère associés aux plantes de croissance spontanée à la suite d’inoculations répétées. De plus ils montrent le potentiel de l’utilisation de champignons mycorhiziens afin d’améliorer la santé et croissance des plantes dans des milieux pollués et toxiques. Ils soulignent aussi l'importance de la sélection des plantes afin de faciliter leur gestion efficace et accélérer les processus de remise en état des terres., The rhizosphere microbiome generally refers to the bacterial, archaea, and fungal communities and their genetic material that closely surrounds the root systems of plants. The metagenome of this microbiome has been called the second genome of the plant because it is able to take advantage of several functions that it lacks. It is a vibrant community of microorganisms, from which part of the species has developed long-lasting, specific and intimate interactions with plant roots. Recent advances in the study of plant-microbe interactions have demonstrated their considerable impact on plant growth, nutrition and health. The rhizosphere microbiota is complex with a dynamic spatio-temporal structure which adapts rapidly to biotic and abiotic stresses. Considering the importance of the rhizosphere microbiome to plant health, accurate information about their associated microbes is of utmost importance in deciphering the mechanisms of plant adaptation to microbiome-mediated stress, and understanding how plants recruit key microbial taxa to better cope with stressful conditions. To do this, we conducted three studies to shed light on the factors that play a role in the recruitment and structure of the microbiome of the rhizosphere of plants in stressed environments. First, we tested whether repeated inoculations with Proteobacteria influenced the productivity of plants and the microbial communities associated with the rhizosphere of four plant species growing in sediments contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons. A mesocosm experiment was carried out in design of randomized blocks with two factors: 1) the presence or absence of four plant species collected in a sedimentation basin of a former petrochemical plant, and 2) inoculation or not with a bacterial consortium made up of ten isolates of Proteobacteria. The plants were grown in the greenhouse for four months. MiSeq amplicon sequencing, targeting the bacterial 16S rRNA gene and the fungal ITS, was used to assess the microbial community structures of sediments from planted and unplanted microcosms. Our results showed that while inoculation caused a significant change in microbial communities, the presence of the plant and its specific identity had a stronger influence on the structure of the microbiome in sediments contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons. Next, using the same experimental setup, we used MiSeq amplicon sequencing targeting the 18S rRNA gene to assess AMF community structures in the roots and rhizosphere of plants growing in contaminated and uncontaminated substrates. We also studied the contribution of the specific identity of plants and the biotope (plant roots and rhizospheric soil) in the formation of associated AMF assemblages. Our results showed that while inoculation caused a significant change in AMF communities, substrate contamination had a much stronger influence on their structure, followed by biotope and plant identity to a lesser extent. In addition, inoculation dramatically increased plant biomass production and was associated with decreased dissipation of petroleum hydrocarbons in contaminated soil. The result of this study provides knowledge on the factors influencing the diversity and community structure of AMF associated with plants in stressed environments following repeated inoculations of a bacterial consortium. Finally, we tested the effect of inoculating trees with specific mycorrhizal fungi on their survival and growth, as well as the extraction of trace metals. To do this, a field experiment was carried out in which we cultivated the Salix miyabeana "SX67" clone on the site of a decommissioned industrial landfill and inoculated the shrubs with the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Rhizophagus irregularis, the ectomycorrhizal fungus Sphaerosporella brunnea, or a mixture of both. After two growing seasons, willows inoculated with the fungus S. brunnea produced a significantly higher biomass. Ba, Cd and Zn were found to accumulate in the aerial parts of plants, where Cd had the highest bioconcentration factor values in all treatments. In addition, the plots where the willows were inoculated with S. brunnea showed a significant decrease in the concentrations of Cu, Pb and Sn in the soil. The inoculation with R. irregularis as well as the double inoculation did not significantly influence the biomass production and the soil trace elements levels The result of this study provides insight into the diversity and ecophysiology of rhizosphere microbes associated with spontaneously growing plants following repeated inoculations. In addition, they show the potential of using mycorrhizal fungi to improve plant health and growth in polluted and toxic environments. They also stress the importance of plant selection to facilitate their efficient management, in order to speed up land reclamation processes.

Microultrasound (MicroUS) is a novel imaging modality relying on a high-frequency transducer which confers a three-fold improvement in spatial resolution as compared with conventional transrectal ultrasound. We evaluated the diagnostic value of MRI-MicroUS fusion biopsy and determined the additional benefit of employing MicroUS.Retrospective analysis of consecutive treatment-naïve men undergoing MRI-MicroUS fusion biopsy between May 2018 and March 2019. Pre-biopsy MRI was systematically reviewed in a dedicated meeting where suspicious lesions PIRADS≥3 were registered and uploaded in the ExactVu MicroUS device. MRI and MicroUS lesions were individually marked in a PIRADS v2 scheme. The biopsy protocol included MRI-MicroUS fusion and MicroUS targeted biopsies; systematic biopsies were performed at clinician's discretion. The diagnostic value was evaluated in terms of detection rate of clinically significant prostate cancer, defined as Gleason pattern≥4 at histology.In all, 148 patients with a median age of 69 years (IQR 63-74) and median PSA density of 0.16ng/ml/cc (0.10-0.23) were included. Clinically significant cancer was detected in 42.5% (63/148) patients. MRI detected 89 lesions in the peripheral zone; 73% (65/89) were visible on MicroUS. Clinically significant cancer was detected in 46.1% (30/65) MRI and MicroUS visible lesions, and in 4.2% (1/24) lesions only visible on mpMRI. MicroUS additionally identified 35 suspicious lesions non-visible on MRI of which clinically significant cancer was present in 25.7% (9/35).Adding MicroUS to the conventional pathway seems to increase the detection rate of clinically significant disease in unselected men undergoing biopsy.

Le stress est continuellement associé à la genèse, la fréquence et la sévérité des convulsions en épilepsie. De nombreux modèles animaux suggèrent qu’une relation entre le stress et les convulsions soit mise en place en début de vie, voire dès la période prénatale. Or, il existe peu de preuves de cette hypothèse chez l’humain. Ainsi, l’objectif général de cette thèse était d’examiner le lien entre le stress en début de vie, dès la conception, et les convulsions chez les humains. Pour ce faire, cette thèse avait comme intérêt principal les convulsions fébriles (CF). Il s’agit de convulsions pédiatriques communes et somme toute bénignes, bien qu’elles soient associées à de légères particularités neurologiques et cognitives. En ce sens, les CF représentent un syndrome de choix pour notre étude, considérant leur incidence fréquente en très bas âge et l’absence de conséquences majeures à long terme. Ainsi, elles permettent l’étude de la relation entre le stress en début de vie et les convulsions par l’entremise d’un relativement grand bassin populationnel, en réduisant l’impact de potentiels facteurs confondants. Dans ce contexte, notre objectif général a été étudié par l’entremise de cinq objectifs secondaires. D’abord, le premier objectif secondaire de cette thèse était de faire le point sur la littérature expliquant le lien entre les convulsions, le stress, ainsi que l’impact que pourrait avoir le stress sur le pronostic cognitif des syndromes convulsifs (article 1). Le second était d’examiner la relation entre les symptômes maternels auto-rapportés de stress, d’anxiété spécifique à la grossesse ou de dépression durant la grossesse et la période postpartum et les CF. Par le biais d’un devis longitudinal, les résultats de cette thèse suggèrent qu’une plus forte anxiété spécifique à la grossesse ainsi qu’une plus grande présence de symptômes dépressifs en période postnatale sont associées à une diminution du seuil convulsif des CF, caractérisée par un plus jeune âge lors du premier épisode convulsif (article 2). Étudié à travers ce même devis longitudinal, le troisième objectif secondaire de cette thèse était d’évaluer le lien entre des changements biologiques associés à l’exposition au stress prénatal et les CF. Or, nos résultats mettent plutôt en lumière des différences sur le plan du système sérotoninergique placentaire, sous-tendant une exposition ou une propension au stress. D’une part, ces changements seraient associés à une hausse de l’incidence des CF et, d’autre part, à une baisse du seuil convulsif (article 3). Par ailleurs, le quatrième sous-objectif couvert par cette thèse était d’étudier la réponse biologique de stress chez des enfants avec antécédents de CF afin de voir si elle se distingue de celle d’enfants sans antécédents convulsifs. Notre étude appariée suggère une plus forte sensibilité au stress chez les enfants avec antécédents de CF « simple » (article 4). Ainsi, ces résultats ne démontrent pas de changements systématiques à l’ensemble des enfants sur le plan de la réactivité au stress. Toutefois, des changements chez les enfants avec CF simples pourraient sous-tendre des anomalies prémorbides. Accessoirement, durant l’étude du quatrième sous-objectif, nous n’avons pas été en mesure d’identifier des anomalies cognitives dans les mois suivants un épisode de CF, ni d’associer le pronostic cognitif au profil de réactivité au stress. Dans ce contexte, le cinquième et dernier objectif secondaire visait à investiguer le pronostic électrophysiologique des CF et à en étudier l’association avec la réactivité au stress. Les résultats suggèrent la présence de particularités électrophysiologiques chez les enfants avec antécédents de CF « complexes », lesquelles pourraient être associées aux altérations cognitives vues chez cette population à long terme (article 5). Par-dessus tout, notons que ces particularités diffèrent en fonction du sous-type de CF complexes. Toutefois, les résultats obtenus dans le cadre de notre devis expérimental n’ont pas été en mesure d’identifier un rôle du stress sur ces atypies (addenda). Ensemble, ces résultats suggèrent l’existence d’un lien entre le stress en début de vie, dès la période prénatale, et les CF. Ils appuient l’importance d’investiguer le stress prénatal, postnatal et actuel en contexte de syndromes convulsifs en général, dont les CF. En raison de l’impact considérable du stress sur la qualité de vie des personnes vivant avec un syndrome convulsif, une meilleure caractérisation de la relation entre le stress précoce et les convulsions pourrait à long terme mener au développement d’interventions précoces et non invasives. Par ailleurs, même si ces résultats n’ont pas été en mesure d’identifier une relation entre la réactivité au stress et le pronostic cognitif ou électrophysiologique des CF, l’étude de ce lien est néanmoins suggérée par les études animales et devrait faire l’objet d’études futures., Stress is a phenomenon frequently associated with epileptogenesis and increased seizure frequency and severity. Animal studies suggest the relationship between stress and seizures may begin early in life, maybe even prenatally. Evidence showing a link between early programming through stress and seizure disorders has yet to be found in humans. Hence, the general objective of this thesis was to examine the relationship between early-life stress, including the prenatal period, and seizures in humans. For this purpose, the prime focus of this research was on febrile seizures (FS). FS are common and benign pediatric seizures, associated only with mild neurological and cognitive peculiarities. Due to their frequent incidence in early childhood and lack of severe consequences, they allow for the investigation of the relationship between early-life stress and seizures through a relatively large sample, while reducing the impact of potential confounding variables.In this context, our general objective was investigated through five sub-objectives. First, we aimed toreview the current knowledge on the link between seizures and stress, as well as the impact stress could have on the cognitive prognosis of seizure disorders (1starticle).The second sub-objective was to study the relationship between self-reported maternal emotion distress during both the pregnancy and postpartum period, on FS. Through a longitudinal cohort, this research supports increased prenatal pregnancy-specific anxiety and postpartum depressive symptoms are associated with a lowered FS threshold, as shown through a younger age at first FS occurrence (2ndarticle). Moreover, the third sub-objective, which was studied through the same longitudinal research, was to evaluate how biological changes associated with prenatal exposure to stress may be linked to FS. This study showed changes in the placental serotoninergic system are found in children with FS history. More precisely, these changes are associated with increased FS incidence, and lowered FS threshold (3rdarticle). On the other hand, the fourth sub-objective of this thesis was to study the biological stress response of children with past FS, compared to that of children without personal history of seizures. Our case-control study suggested only children with “simple” FS showed increased sensibility to stress (4tharticle). Hence, these results do not show systematic changes in the ivbiological stress reaction of all children with FS. Still, they do show changes in some children, which could be premorbid to the first FS episode.Incidentally, while studying the fourth sub-objective, we were unable to show changes in the developmental skills of children with FS, nor did we show an interaction with stress reactivity. Hence, the fifth and final subjective of this thesis was to investigate the electrophysiological prognosis of children with past FS, and its association with stress reactivity. Our results show differences in the electrophysiological profile of children with “complex” FS only, which could be linked to cognitive alterations in the long-term (5tharticle). Moreover, we showed these abnormalities differ depending on the type of complex FS. Still, we were unable to identify an additive or interactive link with stress reactivity (addendum). Taken together, these results highlight the existence of a link between stress, starting in the prenatal period, and FS. Hence, they highlight the importance of investigating prenatal, postnatal and current stress in the context of seizure disorders at large, including FS. Given the significant impact of stress on the quality of life of people living with epilepsy, increased knowledge on the link between early stress and seizures could lead to the development of early and non-invasive treatments targeting stress in the future. Moreover, although these results do not show stress to be associated with altered cognitive or electrophysiological prognosis in the context of FS, this link is nevertheless supported by animal research and should be the subject of future studies

Human biological samples are key resources in unravelling physiopathological factors underlying diseases and influencing their outcome. By making use of these resources, genomics, proteomics and molecular imaging techniques have achieved unprecedented progress in the past decade. The development of genomics platforms, molecular imaging as well as bioinformatics allowed a significant development of the biomarkers field thus realizing significant advances towards personalized medicine. The exponential increase of data, their complexity, the necessity of their integration for analysis require the development of appropriate infrastructures. These latter should integrate experts from different fields as well as an optimal organisation of biobanks including novel access and exchange rules for biological material and data.

International audience; Cette communication s’appuie sur une étude menée en Algérie, Côte-d’ivoire, Liban, Sénégal et Tunisie, à l’occasion de la crise sanitaire du Covid-19. À partir d’entretiens et de questionnaires contextualisés, elle a étudié les mouvements citoyens en ligne et hors ligne. Elle s’est posée la question des possibles transformations des formes traditionnelles et autoritaires de contrôle social et des dynamiques citoyennes. Il en ressort plutôt un renforcement de phénomènes existant que de véritables transformations.

Psychiatry differs from the rest of medical specialties by the unique character of its pathologies, which makes ethical reflection difficult, including the collection of informed consent and the use of restraint and the seclusion-room. This reflection can be affected by subjectivity and a variety of influences, hence the interest of studying the attitude of psychiatrists and residents in psychiatry in Lebanon with regard to restraint and informed consent.We collected data using an anonymous questionnaire that we sent as a Google form to Lebanese psychiatrists and psychiatry residents by email and phone messages. The descriptive analysis was done using Microsoft Excel software, and the analytical analysis was done using the SPSS software and the following statistical tests: independent-sample test and the Mann Whitney U test.Forty people responded, including 19 men and 21 women (16 psychiatric interns, 15 university psychiatrists and 9 non-university psychiatrists). Concerning the questions related to the use of restraint, 70% did not find that it is being commonly used in hospital practice. However, 92.5% would use it to counter the patient's dangerousness and 60% to help deliver treatment. 57.5% did not find the repeated usage of restraint as a dehumanization of care, but the majority (70%) agreed with the need for temporal limitation of any form of restraint. As for the ability to consent, 90% considered a patient in a psychotic state as unfit to consent.Restraint is considered uncommon by psychiatrists and psychiatric residents in Lebanon and must remain an option of last resort with efforts being made upstream in order to avoid situations where the use of restraint becomes mandatory. Post critical thinking is paramount, and restraint should never respond to a lack of manpower or a security goal. Informed consent is one of the most important guarantors of the principle of autonomy, and must be sought in each patient, individually. Finally, no significant difference was found between the subgroups, which would therefore become a single population. Ethical reflection would therefore be directly linked to the population. Mental illnesses are becoming more common and an important source of morbidity worldwide. It is our role to ensure the dignity of the mentally ill. The introduction of the Psychiatric Nurse Diploma, an increase in the relational approach to the training of psychiatrists in Lebanon, and an increase in the number of health care teams may help to maximize the ability of capacity.

Moyamoya disease is a rare angiopathy characterized by a progressive distal occlusion of the internal carotid arteries and their branches. Extracerebral involvement, including coronary arteries, has been described. We report the case of a patient with moyamoya disease who suffered an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest associated with coronary spasm. We discussed the possible links between coronary spasm and moyamoya, as well as the contribution of multimodal cardiac imaging, combining conventional and intracoronary imaging, cardiac MRI, provocative tests for spasm, in the exploration of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest without obvious electrocardiographic and angiographic cause.

International audience; Cette contribution s’intéresse au traitement de la radicalité par un média libanais dans un contexte socio-politique spécifique, ancré dans un espace méditerranéen, chrétien et arabe. En effet, plutôt que d’essayer de définir en soi ce qu’est un comportement ou un contenu radical à la manière d’Olivier Roy (2004, 2016), de Gilles Kepel (2003, 2018) ou de Farhad Khosrokhavar (2014), nous nous sommes intéressés à son traitement dans un espace public particulier. Une analyse de contenu des éditoriaux du journal francophone libanais L’Orient-Le jour a ainsi été menée sur un corpus constitué de 216 éditos publiés pendant le vide présidentiel au Liban, entre le 25 mai 2014 et le 31 octobre 2016. L’outil utilisé pour mener à bien ce travail a été le logiciel Tropes afin d’automatiser l’analyse. Nos résultats montrent une interprétation communautaire du terme dans un pays multiconfessionnel où chaque communauté se définit par rapport aux autres sachant qu’il en existe 18 dans le pays du Cèdre.

Introduction : on remarque depuis quelques années une recrudescence de certaines pathologies chroniques. Les perturbateurs endocriniens (PE) sont de plus en plus suspectés d’être en partie responsables. Après l’élaboration d’une fiche d’information et de conseils (FIC) dans le cadre d’un travail de mémoire, nous avons voulu évaluer la disposition des médecins généralistes à utiliser cet outil pour s’informer et effectuer la prévention contre les perturbateurs endocriniens. Objectif : l’objectif principal a été de jauger la disposition des médecins généralistes (MG) à utiliser la FIC. Les objectifs secondaires étaient d’évaluer le contenu, la mise en forme et la facilité de prise en main de la FIC, puis de déterminer l’intérêt et la position des MG concernant la thématique.Matériel et méthode : la FIC a été élaborée après revue de la littérature, puis validée par un expert. Un questionnaire a été conçu grâce au logiciel Survey Monkey. Le recueil a été fait du 21 janvier au 5 Mars 2019, dans les Bouches-du-Rhône (BDR). Le recrutement des MG a été fait de manière directe par envoi d’un message électronique (ME) à 455 MG, diffusion sur les réseau sociaux et effet boule de neige ; ou de manière indirecte par le biais du conseil départemental de l’ordre des médecins (CDOM). Résultats : sur les 455 MG sollicités par ME, 151 ont répondu (101 femmes et 50 hommes). 59,4% disent envisager d’utiliser la FIC pour la prévention contre les PE, et 31,7% ne savent pas. La note globale moyenne attribuée à la FIC est de 8,2/10 (± 1,61). Les notes moyennes attribuées à la quantité et à la qualité de l’information étaient respectivement à 8,5/10 (± 1,66) et 8,38/10 (± 1,79). L’ergonomie de l’outil et sa clarté ont été appréciées également avec des notes moyennes de 8,1/10 ± 1,7 et 4,26/5 ± 0,81. Enfin, sa praticité a été saluée par 93% des MG, qui trouvaient aisé d’y récupérer des informations ponctuellement. L’intérêt des MG concernant les PE était très fort pour 23,6% de la population, et modéré pour 62,5%. 80,5% des MG ont estimé que la prévention contre les PE faisait partie de leur rôle.Conclusion : es perturbateurs endocriniens sont un problème de santé publique. Cet outil a été très apprécié et pourrait être un des vecteurs de l’acheminement de l’information jusqu’aux généralistes, et ainsi un outil de prévention efficace, pertinent et pratique.

National audience; Tumor banks are asked to clinical and translationnal research project development in oncology. They strongly participate to the assessment, then to the validation of diagnostic, prognostic and predictive biomarkers. The progressive change of these structures leads to induce a professionalization of their functioning and to identify them as key actors in oncology by the stakeholders of the public and private worlds. The progresses made in biotechnologies and therapeutics are rapidly modifying the impact and the proper functioning of the biobanks. These latter are now facing different challenges, in particular for their sustainability. Among the major issues, the integration of the clinical and biological data becoming increasingly complex leads to urgently consider an optimization of the role of different biobanks in France. Their goal is to be an attractive counterpart face to the international competition. The purpose of this review is to briefly describe the current evolution of the biobanks, then their present and future challenges, and finally the role made by the pathologists in these new issues in oncology field.

This study investigates dual trigger with GnRHa and hCG as a potential treatment in patients with a history of ≥25 % immature oocytes retrieved in IVF/ICSI cycles.This is a retrospective case-control study performed between October 2008 and December 2017. Forty-seven patients who experienced high oocyte immaturity rate (≥25 %) during their first IVF/ICSI cycle (analyzed as control group) and received a dual trigger for their subsequent cycle, were involved. During dual trigger cycles, patients received antagonist protocol and ovulation triggering using triptorelin 0.2mg and hCG. Primary endpoint was maturation rate (MR). Secondary endpoints were fertilization, D2 top quality embryo (TQE) rates, clinical pregnancy rate per fresh embryo transfer and cumulative clinical pregnancy rate per couple.A significant increase in MR was achieved in case of dual trigger (71.0 %) when compared to control group (47.8 %; P0.0001). Moreover, cumulative clinical pregnancy rate yielded 46.8 % in dual trigger group, which was statistically higher than 27.6 % obtained in control group (P=0.05). However, fertilization, D2 TQE rates and clinical pregnancy rates/transfer were statistically similar when compared between the two groups.Dual trigger seems efficient for managing patients with high oocyte immaturity rate.

International audience; La recherche biomédicale connaît depuis le début du siècle un bouleversement de grande ampleur avec l’avènement de technologies à grand débit (les -omiques) appliquées à la biologie et associées à des approches biologiques, moléculaires ou aux techniques d’imagerie. Cette révolution méthodologique s’appuie sur l’analyse d’échantillons biologiques prélevés sur les patients puis conservés dans des biobanques. L’intégration des données massives obtenues par ces différentes technologies et leur analyse devrait permettre d’accroître nos connaissances des mécanismes complexes des pathologies humaines et une meilleure stratification des patients selon une nomenclature génétique ou moléculaire. L’accroissement exponentiel des données générées et leur complexité nécessitent cependant la mise en place d’infrastructures adaptées, de nouvelles modalités d’accès et d’échanges de ces données ainsi qu’une organisation optimisée des biobanques afin d’intégrer de nouvelles disciplines adaptées à l’analyse de ces données.
