Dairy Production and Marketing in a Rainfed Agricultural Region of Morocco. The study of the management of eight milk collecting centers located in Tiflet, a rainfed agricultural zone of Morocco, showed that those institutions only play an intermediary role in the dairy sector, even if they are supposed to assume a more important function. Their organisation disallows them to promote dairy production and justifies frequent stagnations of milk deliveries to those centers. From another point of view, a large variation in the technical management of dairy herds was noticed. This was explained by the effects of structural parameters (agricultural area, number of dairy cows, ...) and by weak possibilites to cultivate forages for the cows. It was obvious that smallholders (agricultural area 50 ha), where sheep and suckling cows were given priority.
