The first part of the paper considers the historical, archaeological and epigraphic aspects connected with the production of oil amphorae in the ager Brundisinus during the first century B.C. and particularly : a) the links between estates's ownership and amphora kilns ; b) the chronology of production ; c) the questions inhérent to the society of Brundisium between late republic and the beginning of the Empire. The second part is a preliminary report about the survey in progress in the ager Brundisinus : a geographical description of the areas of Giancola and Apani from the décades of growth of the amphora kilns till the decrease and crisis of the intensive agriculture in the coastal plain., Manacorda Daniele, Cambi Franco.
