- Abstract
This booklet is written for French speaking parents who have young children than may stutter. The goal of the booklet is to enable parents to begin working with their child, and a speech clinician if necessary, with a better understanding of the problem. The booklet is designed to answer to common parental questions such as: (1) Does my child stutter? (2) Why do some children stutter? and (3) How does the child who stutters compare with those who do not? Warning signs of children who may have a stuttering problem are discussed. The major portion of the booklet contains suggestions for working with a stuttering child which address ways to effect smoother speech, effective speech interactions, nonverbal communication, ways to express positive feelings, and ways in which day-to-day living may affect or be affected by stuttering. Suggestions for encouraging better fluency include accepting the disfluencies; avoiding the stuttering label; reducing parental anxiety; reducing time pressure for the child's speech, reacting appropriately to stuttering; giving precise, non-threatening advice on reducing stuttering; and reducing the child's fears, anxieties, and frustrations with speech. As soon as pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PA) is diagnosed, whether at the localised, locally advanced or metastatic stage, it is important to provide supportive care combined with the best possible antitumoral treatment. The psychological impact, in the form of anxiety-depressive disorders (ADD), affects more than one the third patients. It also affects carers, who are directly affected by their loved one's illness. Psychological symptoms often appear at an early stage in the history of the disease, and in some cases may even be the first symptom or even reveal it. TADs arise from the natural history of PA and its complications, such as pain, jaundice, anorexia and cachexia. However, biological factors may also be involved in triggering anxiety-depressive symptoms, with inflammation playing a major role. Finally, psychosocial as well as medical factors may have an influence on ADD, such as the empathy of the doctor, as perceived by the patient at the time of diagnosis, and of the healthcare team as a whole during follow-up. In this context, early diagnosis and appropriate management of the psychological impact on patients and their carers is a major challenge for their quality of life, as well as optimising adherence to anti-tumour treatments. Increased collaboration between clinicians, clinical psychologists and researchers, with the development of dedicated studies, seems an essential condition for achieving this. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Modern psychology focuses on personal resources that help to overcome difficult circumstances accompanied by anxiety and stress. However, psychological diagnosis in this sphere remains understudied. The present research was an attempt to standardize a questionnaire of metacognitive regulation of human behavior in difficult circumstances. The study involved 559 participants from Tomsk (24.8% men, average age – 22.1). The exploratory factor analysis identified four factors (45.6% variance): self-control of behavior (six items, Cronbach’s alpha, α = 0.780; composite reliability = 0.863); anxiety control (four items, α = 0.823; composite reliability = 0.866); memory efficiency (three items, α = 0.817; composite reliability = 0.832); intuitive cognition of people (four items, α = 0.709; composite reliability = 0.757). Confirmation factor analysis showed high values of the model fitness indices: RMSEA = 0.044; SRMR = 0.059; CFI = 0.991; GFI = 0.986. The scales of the new questionnaire demonstrated the required external convergent validity and were found consistent with similar constructs. The study involved the following methods: D. V. Lyusin’s Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire; Subjective Risk Intelligence Scale developed by G. Craparo et al. and adapted by T. V. Kornilova and E. M. Pavlova, E. Yu. Mandrikova’s Activity Self-Organization Questionnaire, C. D. Spielberger’s Anxiety Test adapted by V. N. Karandashev, C. D. Spielberger’s Questionnaire of Personal Anxiety adapted by Yu. L. Khanin, and the Academic Motivation Scale developed by T. O. Gordeeva, O. A. Sychev, and E. N. Osin. The following scales demonstrated a good discriminative ability associated with statistically significant gender differences: self-control of behavior (p = 0.002); anxiety control (p < 0.001), and memory efficiency (p < 0.001). The questionnaire proved to be an efficient tool of studying human resources related to overcoming difficult circumstances.

The study looks at environmental anxiety and hope from the perspective of existential philosophy, as two different forms of existential attunement. In the first part of the text, the current state of research in the field of environmental emotions and moods is sketched out. The concept of environmental anxiety is then briefly delineated, drawing on current taxonomies of environmental emotions as well as on philosophical definitions of anxiety promulgated by Kierkegaard, Heidegger, Tillich and contemporary existential phenomenologists. The existential relevance of environmental anxiety is subsequently defined with the help of an analysis of the experience of the loss of meaningfulness that accompanies environmental anxiety, and then also an analysis of the change in how the natural world reveals itself to the anxious individual. The second part of the study focuses on the mood of hope. The hope for a solution to the ecological crisis is often presented in both public discussion and in the professional literature in the form of new technologies, political will or Providence. This hope is made immediately available and without making any great demands on the hopeful individual. However, by means of Kierkegaard the study shows that this kind of hope is a kind of illusion that leaves a person in a state of inaction, and even becomes an obstacle to a more radical form of hope, one that is capable of inspiring the individual to act, for example, toward “an active solution to the ecological crisis.”

Abstract Objective The present study investigated attentional biases in anxiety using facial expressions and eye-tracking measures. Method Seventy-six participants, between 18 and 36 years, took part in the study and were divided based on trait anxiety levels: Low, Moderate, and High. The stimuli were facial expressions, and the measures of interest were Probability of First Fixation and Proportion of Fixation Time. Results The results revealed vigilance biases towards expressions of disgust, regardless of anxiety level, and maintenance biases towards expressions of happiness, regardless of stimulus presentation time, in the Low Trait Anxiety group compared to the High Trait Anxiety group. Conclusion These findings raise questions related to the importance of using positive stimuli in anxiety treatment and the need to specify the types, levels, and characteristics of stimuli used in research.

Abstract Objective The present study aimed to adapt the Anxiety Symptoms Questionnaire and analyze its psychometric properties for the Brazilian population. Method The adaptation was conducted in six stages: translation, synthesis, back translation, expert analysis, evaluation by the target population, and a pilot study. A total of 441 adults (M = 35.36; SD = 11.08 years) were interviewed, with 301 classified as healthy, 105 as having anxiety, and 35 as having depression. Results The Anxiety Symptoms Questionnaire results demonstrated evidence of content validity, exhibiting high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.975 and McDonald’s omega = 0.976). Moreover, the questionnaire showed evidence of criterion validity by effectively distinguishing between groups with and without anxiety (F(2.438) = 22.647; p < 0.01), as well as convergent validity with the structured clinical interview for DSM-5 (ρ = 0.70, p < 0.01), and correlations with anxiety (ρ = 0.62, p < 0.01), depression (ρ = 0.64, p < 0.01), and stress (ρ = 0.70, p < 0.01) scores from another instrument. Conclusion The Anxiety Symptoms Questionnaire is valid and reliable for use by healthcare professionals in the Brazilian population.

This article explores the intersection of 19th-century philosophy with historical events, spotlighting Nietzsche, Bentham, Kierkegaard, and Schopenhauer and their distinct perspectives on suffering as a positive element, reflective of the era's cultural and historical nuances. The first part of the paper is a summary of the 19th century and its noteworthy events. The second part argues that suffering is a constant element of human existence by highlighting conceptual similarities between all four philosophers when they describe the challenges that humans must face. The third part of the paper analyzes the relationship between suffering and self-knowledge. The fourth and last part of the paper explores the mechanism of suffering as an epiphenomenon.

- Abstract
For Freud, inhibition, defined as defence, is inseparable from the ego, which acts as a barrier to jouissance. On the other hand, inhibition as a symptom is the effect of repression. In both cases, it protects us from a confrontation with anxiety. Lacan locates this anxiety at the very locus of desire, so he rearticulates inhibition in terms of unconscious desire as a defence and the act as a suspension of movement. As the tragedy of Hamlet shows, inhibition as a blockage to the act is linked to a desire against another desire. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT: During oral presentations, and especially when an exam is involved, future candidates fear speaking in a foreign language. The idea is to offer practice activities to motivate learners and calm their nerves. In this way, anxiety at the time of speaking should disturb the quality of the presentation as little as possible. To this end, we are going to propose a Pecha Kucha presentation. This type of presentation is an oral presentation, but it has some special features in terms of format compared with conventional presentations.

Emotions influence the subjective feeling of well-being and coping with difficulties and problems in various situations in life. That is why researchers often show them in explaining everyday events that impact the standard of living, education, and productivity at work and translate into the quality of human health. This article aims to analyse the level of emotions in students` lives who started their studies in science and humanities. The research used a self-project among 383 students at The University of Rzeszów and the Rzeszów University of Technology. I used the method of a diagnostic survey and a standardised tool examining the Emotional Control Scale (CECS) by Maggie Watson and Steven Greer from Faith Courtauld Unit, King’s College Hospital Medical School in London, which was adapted to the Polish version by Siegfried Juczyński (Juczyński, 2001, p. 55). The results showed an average level of emotional control among the surveyed students. The following independent variables were considered: University, gender, age, place of residence and wealth of the inhabitants. In one study on the anger scale, there was a variation in the statistical significance depending on the age of the subjects. However, considering the average, students from Rzeszów University showed slightly higher suppression of negative emotions than those from Rzeszów University of Technology students. In terms of gender, women indicated a higher average than men. The average level of suppression of negative emotions among the respondents indicates the strengthening of the system of education in various threats from the manifestation of anger, depression, and anxiety among high school and university students. Teachers must strengthen their abilities to counteract these and other negative features among students.

- Abstract
To date, very few studies have focused on reducing stress during pregnancy. Yet, stress can have negative impacts on the mother and her child. À systematic review without date limitation was conducted using the following databases: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane. The studies were evaluated using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). Finally, 16 studies were selected: 14 randomized controlled trials, one pilot study, and one mixed-method observation study. Of the 16 studies, 9 included mindfulness interventions, 3 used music therapy or aromatherapy, and 4 implemented relaxation interventions. The results show a significant reduction in stress and anxiety in pregnant women for all interventions. Other effects were observed such as an increase in mindfulness, a reduction in cortisol levels, and an improvement in sleep quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The coronavirus (COVID-19) is triggering negative mental health conditions for university students resulting from lockdown. This study explored the depressive and the anxious reaction to the lockdown caused by COVID-19 among Egyptian university students. Furthermore, the study examined the differences among students in gender, academic level, marital status, living condition, and the source of information used to acquire knowledge about COVID-19. An online survey was developed and employed to assess the depressive and the anxious reaction to lockdown on April 14th, 2020, 19 days after the beginning of applying the confinement and the overnight nationwide curfew by the Egyptian government. The survey was fulfilled by 305 undergraduate and postgraduate students in the British University in Egypt (BUE). The results showed significant differences between students in gender, academic levels, and living conditions in their depressive and anxious reactions towards the lockdown. Furthermore, the higher prevalence of using social media sites to acquire information about COVID-19 was observed in highly depressive students. In the high anxious students' group, the results indicated that there were no significant differences between all sources of information. the current results may be used to improve psychological intervention programs such as online counseling to help students cope with any disruptive event that may affect their wellbeing.

Nursing students experience high rates of anxiety (Gurková & Zeleníková, 2018; Mills et al., 2020; Wedgeworth, 2016) but little is known about the relationship between anxiety and the learning environment. This study intended to explore and better understand what components of the learning environment are impacted by or impact anxiety. This research utilized a grounded theory approach utilizing constant comparative analysis of findings to develop a theoretical model that identifies and describes the components of the learning environment that impact anxiety. Focus groups revealed that educator practices, participants' sense of self, and social determinants of health impacted student experiences of anxiety. Participants also identified several protective factors including self-management and self-care strategies, professional mental health resources, and relationships. The model provides a conceptual framework that can be used as a resource to guide practices of nurse educators and administrators as they reflect on the relationships between intrinsic and external factors, including the learning environment.

Despite advances in the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel disease, induction and maintenance of remission are still difficult to achieve in some patients. In this context, a growing number of patients choose complementary approaches to better control their symptoms. Many studies have identified environmental factors that play a significant role in the pathophysiology of inflammatory bowel disease. International recommendations have been developed for the management of these different factors such as diet, physical activity and mental health. These therapies are part of the holistic medicine, which allows a global approach of the patients. Most data on the benefits of these complementary approaches are based on observational studies. Clinical trials are needed to evaluate the impact of holistic medicine on the course of chronic inflammatory bowel disease, potentially in combination with drug treatments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Though D.H. Lawrence proudly declared in his 1908 letter to Blanche Jennings that his knowledge of the sea far exceeds that of experienced sailors, he affirmed that he never touched the water when in a boat and that his bathing was restricted to the shore. Apparently, this relationship is defined by surface and depth, and oscillates between the two moods of awe and anxiety. The former is reflected in his poetry, while the latter is pervasive in his prose writings. From a Heideggerean perspective, and with particular focus on Sea and Sardinia where his shifting moods conspicuously drive the narrative, we argue here that Lawrence’s occasionally aggressive reactions stem from a deep-seated anxiety that is heightened by his proximity to the sea. As Dasein, his moods and lived experiences eventually lead to his reconciliation with the existential inevitability of death. The reading which is proposed here juxtaposes Sea and Sardinia with one early and two later poems, “The Sea,” “Mana of the Sea,” and “The Ship of Death,” in order to trace the vicissitudes of his emotional states. Basically, the aim of this study is to draw attention to the transformative power of Lawrence’s angst by analyzing how the shift in attitude towards the sea reflects his acceptance or coming to terms with death.

- Abstract
Cancer patients have been particularly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to being at higher risk of complications from COVID-19, many cancer patients experienced delays in cancer tests and treatments due to sanitary measures. These changes in their cancer care trajectory are likely to have influenced their level of fear of cancer recurrence (FCR). The primary objective of this cross-sectional study, conducted among 245 women diagnosed with breast cancer within the past five years (2016-2021), is to assess the mean level of FCR and to estimate the proportion of patients with clinical levels of FCR during the second wave of COVID-19. For comparative purposes, the study also aims to examine the mean level of anxiety and depression and then estimate the proportion of breast cancer patients with clinical levels of these two disturbances. Participants completed online questionnaires between November 2020 and March 2021. Results revealed that a large proportion of patients showed clinical levels of FCR (76.4%), while the proportions of patients reporting clinical levels of anxiety and depression were 45.6% and 52.7%, respectively. Prepandemic FCR prevalence varying between 53.1% and 60.1%, results from this study highlight that FCR is a major issue in a pandemic period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

There is a real and distinct connection between anxiety and nightmare, as it had been pointed out by both Freud and Lacan. To which Joyce seems to add: "History is a nightmare from which I am trying to awake". Moreover, the dream can be considered as having a kind of nightmarish kernel, in the same way in which fantasy has a kind of comical twist, and science has its truth revealed as sciencefiction. The subject is first of all the subject of the unconscious, filled with guilt when faced with his destiny as crushing demand of the Other. It is only within the psychoanalytic discourse that this feeling of guilt is deconstructed and reveals the hole out of which one can say "that no" to both castration and to this totalitarian demand of the Other, source of anxiety, and thus of nightmare, be it as history in general or for the individual. Mircea Daneliuc brilliantly decodes this intricate link between history and nightmare in his film The Cruise (1981), which takes place in Ceaușescu's Romania in the 1980s. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

From the point of view of the ancient medicine, apprehension, which is a feeling of fear and uncertainty regarding the probable outcome or consequences of something, significantly tormented the soul rather than the human body. Altogether with anger, hatred, and yearning, it was classified into the serious diseases, called by the physicians “perturbations of spirit” (perturbationes animi). The regimina sanitatis genre provided all the information about them. In this article, we presented a type of the apprehension which today we would term a phobia and describe it as a neurotic disorder. Firstly, we concentrated on the place of the apprehension amongst the other sicknesses of the soul. Secondly, we investigated two kinds of fear, its sources, and its peculiar symptoms. Finally, we depicted a few cases of phobia (musophobia, ailurophobia, hydrophobia, batophobia, etc.) rarely mentioned in the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century medical discourses.

This article focuses upon young people’s negative stress and anxiety in an educationsetting through a metamodern lens. The driving question of this project is the recurring issue: given the many factors that stress young people these days, how can we address those stressors? The aim is to shed some light on what educators can do to help young persons who live with anxiety. We also aim to create a short publication of received responses to forward to education authorities worldwide. In discussing the issue, we are drawing upon our personal experiences, creative processes, and recognized research from multicultural practitioners in the disciplines of medicine, education, art, sociology, and philosophy. The focus will not be on theoretical solutions, but on practical, creative ones. Metamodern attitudes propose that past texts can hold ever renewed relevance for the present. Accordingly, this narrative is told in an epistolary format complemented by a questionnaire and contemporary responses to an essay written in the middle of modernity some 80 years ago by New Zealand born kinetic artist Len Lye in collaboration with British writer Robert Graves, “Individual Happiness Now: A Definition of Common Purpose”. Responding to Lye’s essay “in the now of immediate action” calls for a focus upon “timing” our “position” in the world and an ethics of care, as well as endeavours to “stimulate [the] dormant intensity” of the present.

TEACHERS , *WELL-being , *COUNTERTRANSFERENCE (Psychology) , *ANXIETY , *CRISES - Abstract
the well-being of learning and of being taught is a fundamental question that can arise for school teachers. When is this questioning good for teachers. We will analyze the memories of students from 2016 to 2021 in order to highlight the specificities of appropriation of this question of the good for future school teachers. We will compare the pre-health crisis to the research conducted during this crisis. By the methodology of the textometric analysis of memories and by the analysis of the countertransference elements of the teacher-researchers, we will seek to specify the blocking points and the blind zones linked to the anxieties around this notion of the well-being to be learned and to teach. FOOD allergy , *PUBLIC health , *LONELINESS , *QUALITY of life , *ANXIETY - Abstract
Food allergy is a growing public health problem. This increase in prevalence has notably led to greater awareness of the burden of living with a food allergy, particularly the emotional, social and financial problems it causes. In the clinic, the speech of patients' parents often revolves around the feeling of loneliness and incomprehension of those around them, the need for control and hypervigilance. Although several studies have recently been published on the impact of food allergy on quality of life, data on the mental health of patients and families remains fragmentary and vague. A qualitative study has been carried out within the Pediatric Pulmonology and Allergology at Robert-Debré Hospital in order to assess the parental psychosocial impact, and anxiety in the case linked to the child's food allergy, in the form of a focus group. These group times allow families to discuss and discuss the impact of this disease, which is often trivialized even though it requires major life adjustments (eviction diet, emergency action plan, potential hospitalizations in intensive care). The objective of this workshop is to present this multidisciplinary research work (hospital practitioner, psychologist, therapeutic education nurse) and to allow us as caregivers to better understand parental difficulties in order to offer ever more qualitative follow-up for these vulnerable families. The psychoanalytical dispositive opens the possibility of the advent of a clinical fact, of something that has taken on a singular value in the experience of the one who comes to speak. Holding to the measure of what causes and makes the subject talk, the ethics of desire implies having weighed the value of silence in order to produce the ‘right not-said’. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present volume, German Writers and Scholars from Romania in the eyes of the State Security [Securitate], paints a picture of Romanian society during the communist period by looking at the relationship of some German writers from Romania with the Secret Police. Stefan Sienerth’s volume consists of fifteen extensive studies that provide profiles of cynical and abject members of the State Security but also of some of the writers’ informants, who were blackmailed into collaborating under threat of being arrested. All studies are based on empirical research and on analysing documents from the CNSAS Security Archive, and describe an absurd world dominated by anxiety, fear, betrayal, blackmail, as well as the unscrupulous and cynical operating methods employed by the State Security. These are very rich in information and explicit, with clear statements and very precise terminology, revealing a very experienced researcher, as well as characterizing an era through the prism of a network of destinies, some of which are implacable. Menstruation causes the body to go through a cycle of changes each month. Premenstrual syndrome, or PMS, is the term used to describe the variety of symptoms that many women experience in the weeks before and during their periods. Some women do not at all suffer from PMS symptoms. However, some women’s symptoms may be crippling. We, therefore, examined the relationship between menstruation and mental health in this study and how one person can help the other. According to the current study based on a qualitative approach, 9% to 17% of women experience irritability, upset, or anxiety during their periods. Women report sleeping issues of 6% to 11%, mood swings of 9% to 16%, and bloating and pain of 9% to 16%. Between 8% and 15% of women get headaches around menstruation. Depression and period anxiety are both very typical. Premenstrual syndrome frequently includes these symptoms (PMS). Physical, emotional, and behavioural symptoms known as PMS are present during the premenstrual stage of the cycle and disappear once the period starts. In addition to food cravings, headaches, Mood swings, social withdrawal, exhaustion, and sore breasts, PMS can also cause sadness before and during periods. However, premenstrual dysphoric disorder may be to blame for significant depression before or during periods (PMDD).

Educational resilience is a complex subject, insufficiently addressed. The concept of educational resilience refers to the student's ability to overcome stressful events in an optimal way. We often observe how students with very good academic results end up developing depressive or anxious states as a result of a stressful event or as a result of a situation with a high degree of difficulty. Our study aims to highlight the following aspects: the frequency of difficult situations faced by first year students from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova and the University of Craiova, the degree of resilience approached in terms of time needed to overcome a stressful event, students' ability to recover, the level of stress perceived by students during the exam session, the possibility of the idea of interrupting studies, the degree of motivation for the chosen field of study, the availability of students to participate to a course of emotion management in stressful periods. The study was conducted using a questionnaire covering 15 questions with a simple complement on a sample of 89 students. We believe that the results obtained from this study will contribute significantly to the awareness of the importance of the phenomenon of educational resilience. The causes that often lead to academic failure or dropping out of school are directly proportional to the student's degree of resilience.

A growing number of studies have identified high rates of pediatric chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) after major surgery. Pediatric CPSP is associated with pain-related distress and comorbid mental health outcomes, such as anxiety and depression. From a biopsychosocial perspective, youth factors, such as genetics, epigenetics, sex, presurgical pain, sleep, anxiety, and pain catastrophizing, as well as parent factors, such as cognitive appraisals of their child’s pain expression and pain catastrophizing, converge and lead to chronic pain disability. A comprehensive and testable psychosocial model of the transition from acute to chronic pediatric postsurgical pain has not been developed. This narrative review begins by evaluating the epidemiology and trajectories of pediatric CPSP and moves on to examine the more influential psychosocial models that have been proposed to understand the development of pediatric CPSP. Much of the literature to date has been conducted on adolescents undergoing spinal fusion. To conceptualize the transition from acute to chronic pain in youth, a combined diathesis-stress and interpersonal fear avoidance model is presented. Novel areas of future research include the potential influence that siblings and peers have on a youth’s development of CPSP as well as the influence of gender.

The treatment of anorexia nervosa remains challenging, particularly during the acute phase that requires hospitalization. In France, traditional care centres on talk therapy with the patient and their family; although non-pharmacologic and non-verbal therapies may be used, they have not been applied systematically. After a review of the literature on the use of music therapy for eating disorders, focusing primarily on anorexia nervosa, we will present the modalities of a group protocol of receptive music therapy (which we have termed DéPi-AM) applied to hospitalized adolescents suffering from anorexia nervosa. For more than two years, we used DéPi-AM in institutional situations that patients were experiencing as highly anxiety-inducing. We will discuss the use of this protocol through qualitative clinical data and observations from our practice. Our preliminary results point to an increase in negative emotions in the absence of a music therapy session and an increase in positive thoughts and a sense of relaxation during the session. We will also recommend a more extensive reflection on the use of music for relaxation within music therapy practice and attempt to define a patient profile for whom this therapy could prove useful when integrated into a course of multidisciplinary care.
